“Kitchen Nightmares” may be back to its same-old failing-business antics nine years after Season 7’s conclusion in 2014. But don’t expect the same Gordon Ramsay to return to the long-running Fox fan favorite.
“Since it hasn’t been done in nine years, you’ve just got a different Gordon Ramsay and more evolved Gordon,” executive producer David De Angelis told TheWrap.
De Angelis is a producer well aware of the many sides of this particular celebrity chef. He started working with Ramsay in 2013 on “Hell’s Kitchen,” the show that made Ramsay a reality star — and one known for his temper and blunt criticism. Over the years, De Angelis has also worked with Ramsay on “Next Level Chef,” a series De Angelis noted shows off Ramsay in a “mentor role.”
“There’s a little more kindness, a little more compassion and much more desire to help people get better,” De Angelis said.

Fox Entertainment will have its new CEO, Rob Wade, making his debut at the network’s upfront presentation today. In a sign of continuity, he will unveil the Fox content slate for the 2023-2024 television season but not a schedule. The network first broke with tradition by not presenting a fall grid at the upfront last year; Fox announced fall schedule and premiere dates June 6.
The network did away with unveiling a fall schedule at its May 2022 presentation because, in media companies’ multi-platform pitch to advertisers, that does not have the importance and urgency it once did. That strategy is even more timely this year because of the uncertainty surrounding the networks’ fall schedules amid the ongoing WGA strike.

Midway through the very first episode of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, the 2004 restaurant docuseries starring celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, the mercurial cook’s unusually calm voiceover pauses a moment. Ramsay is considering a change in approach to reach Tim, the uninspired 21-year-old chef of Bonapartes in West Yorkshire.
“Maybe it’s me,” Ramsay muses. “I should try the ‘softly softly’ approach.”
Ramsay does opt for the “softly softly” approach, operating slightly more gently with Tim than his usual bombastic bouts of yelling. Ultimately the strategy is unsuccessful. After one night of success, Tim falls back into bad habits at episode’s end and Bonapartes would close within a year … leading to its owner Sue pursuing an unsuccessful lawsuit against Ramsay, alleging that production staged portions of the episode. Ramsay was awarded £75,000 plus court costs.

For 11 seasons now, Robert Irvine has hosted Food Network's "Restaurant Impossible." From its inception, the show followed a familiar format: a chef goes in to a failing restaurant, criticizes things, yells a lot, makes over the place, and leaves. That format was first popularized by Gordon Ramsay in "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares," and then destroyed by Fox with its Americanized version. Since then, it seems every cable network needs to have their own version, sometimes with a twist ("Bar Rescue," "Tabatha's Salon Takeover"). While those shows can be light, predictable, formulaic fun, "Restaurant: Impossible" rises to the top of that heap. Here's why Robert rules. Robert Irvine asks simple questions that people can't answer. Robert Irvine is the best at calmly asking questions that get right to the core of the problem and tell us everything we need to know about why a restaurant is failing. For example, almost every episode,...

Gordon Ramsay has claimed that he doesn't swear "often".
The television chef - who is famous for his use of bad language on shows like Hell's Kitchen and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares - said that he needs a "reason" to swear.
Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, he said: "I like to think it's an industry language. I've worked with some great chefs and when I've made a mistake there's a naughty word that comes out. But do I want [my children] Matilda and Jack walking around swearing? Definitely not."
He admitted that he can't tell his kids off for swearing as they know all about his reputation.
"I don't have ground to stand on and more importantly they'd just say 'shut up dad, you knob'.
"They know it's not smart. Kids today get so much more distracted than we did. You don't need to listen to your parents using foul language, you...

As reality TV approaches its 15th year of post-Real World maturity, the genre has a wide range of programs, from the stupid and scripted to the artful and insightful. Amid the clutter--this fall will see many new and returning reality TV shows on cable and broadcast--there are many highlights. Here are six things worth watching. Survivor and Amazing Race swap players and twists "Survivor" (Sept. 24) is on a streak: there's been season after season of solid, unpredictable game play along with a continued commitment to high-quality storytelling and production. Executive producer and host Jeff Probst, and the network, will try to keep that streak going by returning to last fall's Blood vs. Water format, which worked well, and by ditching the mostly loathed Redemption Island and replacing it with Exile Island. But they've also made some questionable casting decisions. John Rocker, the former baseball player best known for his bigoted ranting,...

When we think of Mary Berry, we normally associate her with a moist Victoria sponge, a tasty tray of tarts or delightful slab of Battenberg. The Great British Bake Off star has won over the nation in recent years with her softly-spoken approach and her ability to deliver bad news about a soggy cake bottom with a smile and warmth.
However, ahead of the upcoming fourth series of the reality show, Mary Berry has put down her whisk and come out fighting. Her target? Gordon Ramsay.

Berry has revealed in an interview with the Radio Times that she "hates" the Scottish chef's shows, branding him part of the current TV trend for all things "violent, cruel and noisy".
Ramsay is yet to respond to her comments, but we imagine his views with start with the letter 'F' and end in the word 'Off'.

Summer is about throwing meat, fish and veggies on the grill; tossing salads of all sorts; savoring watermelon, peaches and cherries; and downing iced tea and lemonade by the gallon.
But there comes a time when the sun has finally gone down, the embers have died, stomachs are full, and the time for relaxing in front of the television has come -- just in time to get some new recipes for the next summer cookout or just watch other people sweat in the kitchen.
Here are a few suggestions for your TV food menu:
"Food Network Star" (Sundays, Food Network): Currently in its ninth season, the competitive reality show still strives to produce a chef worthy of his or her own show (although the Season 2 winner, Guy Fieri, continues to be the biggest success). Each week, judges Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Alton Brown put the competitors through their paces.

In its penultimate week on the air, Fox's sci-fi cult favorite "Fringe" is going out with a whimper, hitting a series low in total viewers after being off the air for two weeks. "Fringe" will air its two-hour series finale next week.
The previous total viewer low for "Fringe" came on Nov. 9 when 2.47 million viewers tuned in for "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There." If last night’s numbers are any indication, Fox’s Fringe (1.1/3) looks to be ending its run on a rise, at least for 2012. On its second to last episode of the year and its fifth to last episode ever, the J.J. Abrams-created sci fi series was up 22% from last week. That December 7 broadcast had been flat with the previous original airing two week previous. Airing before Fringe, Kitchen Nightmares (1.1/4) was down 8% from its December 7 show. The other networks saw their planned Friday schedules altered as news specials on the fatal school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut were added to existing shows or ran solo. Barbara Walters’ scheduled interview with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on ABC’s 20/20 (1.6/5) last night was postponed as the news show covered shooting. With 6.25 million watching, last night’s 20/20 as up 33% over last week. That is 20/20’s largest audience since its March 30th...

NBC has put in the last piece in its midseason scheduling puzzle, slotting the second season of reality competition series Fashion Star for a March 8 premiere and a run in the Friday 8 Pm time period. The premiere of Fashion Star will lead into the spring return of Grimm at 9 Pm after a two-month hiatus. NBC left the Friday 8 Pm slot Tbd in its recent midseason announcements despite wide speculation that Fashion Star had been earmarked for the hour. I hear that there was an issue with the retailers who sell the outfits from each episode if the series aired on Fridays. Fashion Star‘s first season ran on Tuesday. The store chains partnered with the show this season are returning giants Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue as well as Express in for H&M. All3Media, Britain’s largest independent TV production group, is launching All3Media America, an U.S. production hub based in Los Angeles to be run Eli Holzman as president and Stephen Lambert as chairman. All3 Media has had presence in the U.S. via Studio Lambert USA, the Los Angeles-based offshoot of Stephen Lambert’s UK company Studio Lambert, which All3Media had backed, and All3Media’s Lion TV (Cash Cab) and Optomen (Hotel Hell, Kitchen Nightmares). But the company, which has scripted and non-scripted production companies in the UK, Germany and New Zealand, had been looking to set up a centralized U.S. outpost. Instead of building infrastructure from the ground-up, the company opted to use that of Studio Lambert USA, producer of such series as CBS’ Emmy-winning Undercover Boss, AMC’s The Pitch and Lifetime’s upcoming Supermarket Superstars. As part of its original deal with...

Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 7, 2012
In a night of no surprises, new episodes of "Undercover Boss," "CSI: NY" and "Blue Bloods" won the night for CBS. Once again, "Blue Bloods" was the night's most watched show overall. Meanwhile, NBC's "Dateline" boasted the highest points in the demo, followed closely by its "Saturday Night Live Christmas" rerun.
The CW "Nikita" held onto most of last week's numbers from its new timeslot, posting high ratings for the struggling series. Last week its follow-up, a rerun of "Arrow," retained almost all of "Nikita's" numbers, but this week Nikita fans were less interested in tuning in for the superhero series -- perhaps because they were turning over to "Fringe," which has been off the air for two weeks but returned to steady numbers.

Meanwhile, NBC's "Dateline" boasted the highest points in the demo, followed closely by its "Saturday Night Live Christmas" rerun.

David Beckham will cook Christmas dinner for Gordon Ramsay. The soccer star has invited the foul-mouthed TV chef and his family to spend Christmas Day (25.12.12) with him, wife Victoria and their four children at their home in Hertfordshire, East England, and will be hoping to win over the kitchen impresario with his culinary skills. The 37-year-old sportsman is prepared to pull out all the stops with a three-course festive feast including a turkey with all the trimmings, a starter and traditional Christmas pudding. But David will need to work hard to impress his pal - who often brings wannabe cooks to tears on his TV shows 'Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares' and 'The F Word' - as he owns several Michelin-starred...

Out with "The Mob Doctor," in with "Touch."
Fox's "Touch" has a new season premiere date, with the show's sophomore season beginning with a two-hour special on Fri., Feb. 8 from 8 to 10 p.m. Est.
While Fox is treating the Kiefer Sutherland drama better these days, the same can't be said for "The Mob Doctor," according to THR. The final four episodes of "The Mob Doctor" will air on Sat., Dec. 29, Mon., Dec. 31, Sat., Jan. 5 and Mon., Jan. 7.
The series, which stars Jordana Spiro as a young doctor working to pay off her brother's debt to the mob, has consistently struggled in the ratings, dropping as low as a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It looks like cancellation is near.
It's been a rough ride for "Touch" in this 2012-2013 TV season as well. The show's second season was originally scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 26, but "Kitchen Nightmares" took its place.

The second season of Fox‘s Touch, originally slated for a fall launch and then pushed to February 1, will have to wait another week. The series starring Kiefer Sutherland will kick off its sophomore season with a two-hour premiere on Friday, February 8. Starting the following week, the drama will settle into its regular Friday 9 Pm slot, likely following Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, which currently airs in the time period. Meanwhile, Fox is still not confirming that Mob Doctor has been cancelled, though the struggling freshman is not getting a back order beyond the original 13 episodes. All of them will air — Fox has set the airing pattern for the remaining four episodes of Mob Doctor‘s 13-episode order, which includes a mix of broadcasts in its regular Monday time slot and outings on the dead-as-a-doornail Saturday night: Saturday, December 29; New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31; Saturday, January 5; and Monday, January...

The Mob Doctor remains on the air, despite the fact that it will surely be cancelled. This week's episode hit a new series low, taking the show's low ratings averages even lower.
Fox hasn't ordered any additional installments beyond the initial 13 episode order. For whatever reason, they seem to be committed to producing all of the episodes. It remains to be seen if they'll air them all -- especially if the ratings drop even lower.
Several shows have seen average gains or losses since the last ratings report. Those that gained are The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, and Kitchen Nightmares. The series that lost are Family Guy, Bones, Mob Doctor, and Fringe.
What do you think? Will the network air all of the Mob Doctor episodes? Share your comments below.
