Jon Bernthal has stated on a number of occasions that he holds Frank Castle very close to his heart, and he’s still not given up on the idea of returning as the Punisher somewhere down the line. He’s not the only actor to have fallen in love with the comic book vigilante after being cast in the role, though, and fans also remember Thomas Jane’s spin on the character fondly.
Admittedly, the 2004 movie wasn’t great, but Jane was committed to the part and did a solid job in the lead. Unfortunately, however, the plot and script were about as formulaic as it gets, while moving the action from the seedy underbelly of New York City to the more tropical climate of Tampa for budgetary reasons was hardly reflective of the Punisher’s origins.

On a windy night, just off Hollywood Blvd, a handful of people gathered in the dimly lit backroom of Dirty Laundry to see one of La’s up and coming artists Dark Waves. After the soft space rock of opener Cody Crump, Nick Long Aka Dark Waves took the stage with tired eyes, an oversized leather jacket, a laptop and a black Les Paul.A few clicks on the computer and the show began, kicking off with lead single “The Heartbeat The Soul,” a catchy tune with a falsetto chorus and layers of keyboards and percussion. Adi Shankar is a bona fide, successful Hollywood film producer with movies such as The Grey, Dredd and Lone Survivor to his credit. However, he also has a passion for self-expression, which he exhibits through his personal Bootleg Universe. To date, his personal, creative outlet has tackled the Punisher (Dirty Laundry), Venom (Truth in Journalism), Judge Dredd (Judge Dredd: Superfiend) and James Bond (James Bond: In Service of Nothing). With no plans to stop, what other property could Shankar look to explore next? Shankar told Comic Book Resources, "Captain Planet was my other favorite TV show growing up. The truth is, if you look at our world today, the world we live in right now, that is the world Captain Planet was fighting against. Literally, Captain Planet and the Planeteers lost. If they existed in our world today, they would be labelled eco-terrorists. I had this whole idea for a...

In 2012, Adi Shankar served as the executive producer for Dredd, a stylish adaptation of the long-running comic series of the same name. Despite positive reviews, Dredd struggled at the box office, therefore dashing hopes for any potential sequels. Even so, Dredd has picked up a significant cult following and has sold extremely well on home video. Clearly, there are many fans of the film who are clamoring for more, and Shankar is giving them what they want with a new web series based off the Dredd franchise. Shankar, in addition to his day job as a Hollywood producer, is also an independent filmmaker who creates "bootleg" fan films based off popular franchises. In 2012, he scored a hit with "Dirty Laundry", a Punisher fan film starring Thomas Jane. A year later, he released "Truth In Journalism", which imagined Venom through a lo-fi, black-and-white lens. "The concept of the “Bootleg Universe” is...

Well, here it is... It's not the sequel you were hoping for, or even a live action short like the unofficial Punisher fan film "Dirty Laundry" starring Thomas Jane. Instead, this is an animated mini-series regarding a Judge Dredd stand-in, it's titled "Superfiend," and it's all here for you to watch. Running six episodes long, producer Adi Shankar describes the style as '90s MTV mixed with a Saturday morning children's cartoon, and the crude and inviting aesthetic seems about right. And there's a couple more things he stresses: most importantly, this is not part of the officially sanctioned "Dredd" franchise, and thus the story revolves around "Judge Death," not Judge Dredd. So there are the caveats you need to know. So with that in mind, watch all six episodes below, kicking off with an introduction by Shankar himself.

Adi Shankar has released a full length trailer from his animated Judge Dredd: Superfiend project.
The Dredd producer introduces the trailer, stressing that the animation is a bootleg production inspired by the satirical 2000 Ad strip.
Superfiend focuses on classic Dredd villain Judge Death, the undead being from a reality in which he judged life a crime and eradicated the populace.
The animation will be released in a miniseries that launches online on October 27.
It will consist of six episodes: 'Judge Sydney', 'The Angel Gang', 'Judge Death', 'Rico & Vienna', 'In Death We Trust' and 'Dredd vs Death'.
There has been vocal fan demand for a sequel to 2012's Dredd, which flopped in Us cinemas but has been a surprise home release hit.

The full trailer for producer Adi Shankar's animated miniseries Judge Dredd: Superfiend has been released, and I'm completely sold. This thing looks strange, dark, funny, a little messed up, and completely insane… I love it. The trailer comes from Collider, who also got a statement from Shankar on how this miniseries fits in with the previously made "bootleg" short films that he's produced. Those films include "Dirty Laundry," which is based on The Punisher, and "Truth in Journalism," which is based on Venom. He also talks about the reason he decided to develop this project, and why he went with this style of animation. Judge Dredd: Superfiend was inspired by the “Dark Judges” comic book story arc. Here's what the producer revealed about it:
1. The “Bootleg Universe” is about viewing things through a fresh lens. I wanted to do something that played up the satirical tone of the Judge Dredd comics,...

Yesterday we got our first look at a poster and some images from an upcoming animated mini web-series called Judge Dredd: Superfiend. Now today we bring you the teaser trailer! The animation is crude, but I like it, and it still looks like this could be a really fun and insane series.
The web series comes from Dredd producer Adi Shankar, and as we said in our report yesterday, it was inspired by the “Dark Judges” comic book story arc. It's intended as to be kind of a sequel to the movie Dredd, but it's also a part of Shankar’s "Bootleg Universe" series that consists of "Dirty Laundry" and "Truth in Journalism," which are two short films that riff on the Punisher and Venom comic book characters.
The full trailer will be released on October 23rd, and the actual series will be released a couple days later on the 27th.

As with most cult films, Dredd didn’t do well at the box office in 2012. But because dedicated fans wanted more, the film’s executive producer Adi Shankar has made a miniseries based on the Dredd universe called Dark Judges, and it will be debuting online in October 2014. In an exclusive with TheWrap, Shankar revealed the 7-part miniseries will be available for free online later this month (it’s yet to be revealed exactly where the series will be hosted). For over two years, Shankar has been working on the Dredd-based project, which he initially called a “short film” in a 2013 Ama on Reddit. On September 28, he released a video for the 2nd annual Day of Dredd, thanking the aficionados of his feature-length film and saying “they turned it into a success.” Dark Judges will join two other shorts Shankar has produced related to DC Comics characters as part of his Bootleg Universe.

There remains a strong and devoted group of Dredd fans who are keen to see a sequel, with the recent Day Of Dredd providing another rallying cry for those who want Karl Urban back for a second time. Film producer Adi Shankar was instrumental in getting Dredd made back in 2012, and it seems that he's just as impatient as the rest of us when it comes to getting a further adventure made. Shankar, it turns out, has been quietly working on a miniseries based on the Dark Judges.

From rock operas to Wes Craven to Dazzler, here's some Marvel movies that never quite made it...
Recently, we looked at the DC movies that never got the greenlight. We saw hordes of Superman movies which didn’t make it to screen, along with Batman film ideas and whole hosts of other DC heroes whose movies plummeted out of production (You can read that piece here).
On the other side of the superhero cinema fence, we have the seemingly all-encompassing, game-changing Marvel Cinematic Universe at the height of its powers, the X-Men franchise in rude health and the still-fresh memory of Spider-Man’s hasty reboot. Among the contenders were Avicii’s maudlin anti-war clip “Hey Brother,” David Guetta and Mikky Ekko’s typhoon-relief single “One Voice,” Kelly Rowland’s “Dirty Laundry” (a candid song about domestic abuse that’s too often been misinterpreted as a Beyoncé dis track), and J. Cole’s “Crooked Smile,” for which the video tells the story of Aiyana Jones, a 7-year-old girl from Detroit who was accidentally killed by a police officer during a drug raid in her home. At the end of the clip, the Vma-sanctioned Social Message flashes onscreen (“Please Reconsider Your War on Drugs”), though...

Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting’s whirlwind relationship ended up in marriage last December after six months of dating, and already rumors are swirling that the two could be divorcing in the near future.
Kaley Cuoco, Ryan Sweeting Divorcing?
Cuoco’s jealousy is reportedly to blame for her marital troubles with Sweeting. The Big Bang Theory star is said to want the “undivided attention” of her new husband.
"A pattern has emerged in the relationship that leaves Kaley looking like a jealous monster," a source told Celebrity Dirty Laundry. “She wants Ryan's undivided attention all of the time and when he focuses on anyone else she loses it."
One person Cuoco really doesn’t want Sweeting hanging out with is his friend and New Girl star Zooey Deschanel. “Ryan doesn't have many friends in Los Angeles so he's reached out to Zooey a few times to get together," an insider told Star magazine.

Oh Reign, you saucy minx, giving us the camp we’ve been hoping for. I must confess, as a part time TV critic, I’m not often shocked by any of the plot lines I see on TV. Tonight, my friends, I was thoroughly surprised about Henry’s vigorous thrusting leading to the death of the Duchess of [&hellip

Appropriately titled “Dirty Laundry,” this episode of “Reign” picks up two months after the wedding and audience-viewed consummation of Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Francis (Toby Regbo). The royal duo have returned from their honeymoon back to the French court, a.k.a. the land of politics, backstabbing, and fancy dresses. With Clarissa who-knows-where and Bash (Torrance Coombs) supposedly in Spain, it should be a walk in the park for our newlyweds. Of course, we all know their bliss won’t last for long. Not long after they are welcomed back by their family and friends, unrest is already filtering its way through the [...]

Rust Cohle and Marty Hart finally get their man, and almost lose their lives, in the season finale of HBO’s True Detective, “Form and Void.”
The episode started with our serial murderer, Errol Childress (Glenn Fleshler), the man with the burn scars on his jaw. Errol’s house is a mess, packed with old papers, VHS tapes and creepy, half broken dolls. Dirty laundry, old clothes and sheets are strewn about the house. Errol’s garage is equally terrifying. He stands, shirtless, in front of a presumably dead body attracting flies. Errol’s back is covered in scars, and the walls are covered in red writing. He talks to the corpse for a moment, and then leaves, saying “Bye, Daddy,” and goes inside the main house to do a freakishly good Cary Grant impression and hook up with his disabled girlfriend (who is most likely a distant relative of...

It was a rough week for Oscar Pistorius. Sometimes sobbing, other times covering his ears, the former Olympian sat in court as witness after witness testified about the night that he fatally shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Neighbors and paramedics described his anguished behavior on the night of Feb. 14, 2013, as Steenkamp lay dying of multiple gunshot wounds. But even worse for Pistorius was testimony that painted him as irritable, short-tempered and obsessed with firearms. While his defense attorney tried to mitigate the damage, it was clear that the man known as Blade Runner faces an uphill battle in court. Gunshots...
