ESPN and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions have signed a new long-term content deal.
The deal will keep Manning in business with the sports network until 2034. Manning and Omaha Productions had originally signed a deal with ESPN in 2021 for three years, though an extension was announced in 2022.
The multi-platform deal covers the continuation of the popular “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli,” also known as the “Manningcast,” as well as additional Omaha content such as “Peyton’s Places” and “Eli’s Places.
“Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” sees the Manning brothers, both of whom are former Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, offering analysis of the week’s game as well as interacting with special guests from the worlds of sports and entertainment. The series originally debuted in 2021 and won multiple Sports Emmys in 2022.

ESPN will be in business with Peyton Manning for years to come.
The Disney-owned sports media giant has inked what it is calling an “unprecedented” nine-year deal with Manning’s Omaha Productions, which will produce programming for ESPN into 2034.
The deal includes the “Manningcast” alternate telecast for Monday Night Football, technically called Monday Night Football With Peyton and Eli , in which the brothers banter and speak to guests during the game of the week.
It also includes other Omaha programming, like Peyton’s Places and Eli’s Places, as well as other shows and “opportunities for collaboration across multiple platforms,” per ESPN.
ESPN inked its first deal with Omaha in 2021, signing a three-year extension the following year. The new deal, however, is a major bet on Manning’s content and programming chops. ESPN and ABC’s NFL rights, it should be noted, currently run through 2032-33 season, with Super Bowl rights...

ESPN+ is now available to Charter’s Spectrum TV Select Plus customers nationwide at no additional cost — coming after the cable operator added Disney+ for free earlier this year.
The addition of ESPN+, which regularly costs $10.99 per month, comes under Disney and Charter’s distribution agreement reached in September 2023 — following a 12-day blackout of ESPN and other Disney networks on Charter.
Charter’s activation of the ESPN+ direct-to-consumer inclusion offer means qualified Spectrum video customers can stream thousands of hours of live sports and original programming through the Xumo Stream Box or any other ESPN+ supported device.
Charter’s TV Select Plus customers who already have Disney+ as part of their Spectrum service can use their Disney+ account credentials so that both subscriptions are under one account; eligible customers who already have ESPN+ can go to the website where ESPN+ was purchased and use their existing sign-in credentials to manage...

Peyton Manning, LeBron James and Michelle and Barack Obama are looking to team up with Netflix for an NBA docuseries modeled after Quarterback.
Manning’s Omaha Productions and James’s SpringHill Company are in talks to partner up with the Obamas’ Higher Ground Production and the NBA for the series, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Omaha Productions already produces Quarterback for the streamer in partnership with NFL Films and 2Pm Productions. The series follows football players Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota as they navigate the ups and downs of the NFL season.
Quarterback featured behind-the-scenes of the biggest moments of the 2022-2023 season, as Mahomes set an NFL record for total offense on his way to winning the league and Super Bowl Mvp awards; Cousins engineered the greatest comeback in NFL history and led the Minnesota Vikings to an NFC North Division title; and...

Between “Beckham,” “Quarterback” and the nationally captivating “The Last Dance,” we are clearly living in our peak sports docuseries era. And now four-time, NBA champion LeBron James and hall of famers Peyton Manning have combined with the Obamas’ production company to contribute their own sports series centered around the NBA, Variety has confirmed.
James’ SpringHill Company (which he started with business partner Maverick Carter) will join Manning’s production company Omaha Productions and the Obamas’ Higher Ground. The series will divide up each episode following various NBA athletes as they live their lives, similar to the Netflix docuseries “Quarterback,” which followed three NFL quarterbacks during the 2022-2023 football season.
Higher Ground’s “American Factory” won the Academy Award for best documentary in 2019 and past films “Crip Camp” and “Becoming” were both nominated. The production company currently has a first look deal with Netflix, so assumptions are being made that this...

Another major sports docuseries is in the works, and this one has some major star power behind it.
Lakers star LeBron James and his SpringHill Company is in talks with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions and Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground for a series that would follow professional basketball players, a source familiar with the discussions confirms to The Hollywood Reporter. The format would bring the same approach to the NBA that Omaha’s Quarterback brought to the NFL.
The NBA is also expected to be involved in the show, much as NFL Films is a partner on Quarterback. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news, says that the show will likely end on Netflix, where Higher Ground has a first-look deal, and where Quarterback emerged as a successful addition to the genre earlier this year.

When creators of the Netflix docuseries Quarterback selected three NFL playmakers to shadow for the 2022-23 season, they couldn’t possibly be certain that one, Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, would go on to win the Super Bowl; another, the Minnesota Vikings’ Kirk Cousins, would have the season of his life; and the third, the Atlanta Falcons’ Marcus Mariota, would be benched, adding a poignant undertone to balance out the triumphalism.
Netflix’s bet on these three quarterbacks paid off handsomely, both narratively and commercially. With 3.3 million views and 21.4 million hours viewed, per the streamer, the series ranked third among original streaming shows (and fifth among all titles) for its opening week, according to Nielsen — showing Netflix can compete in the sports space even without live rights. The quarterbacks themselves also have expressed satisfaction with the end product.

ESPN has landed a talent touchdown.
After years of trying to secure top sports celebrities to boost its flagship “Monday Night Football” coverage, the Disney-backed sports outlet said it has enlisted both Peyton and Eli Manning to co-anchor a second broadcast of its signature show, starting this fall. The famous football brothers will lead the new broadcast on ESPN2, and the sports-media giant said it may also place their show on its streaming-video ESPN Plus. The pair will start their duties in the fall of 2021 and continue through the 2023 season, handling a total of 30 games over three seasons.
“Offering multiple ‘Monday Night Football’ viewing options for the next three seasons continues our innovation efforts and provides additional value for our fans,” said Jimmy Pitaro, chairman of ESPN and sports content for Disney. “Peyton and Eli will bring a different approach, delving into conversation about broader, big-picture topics while also honing in on the game,...

Eli Manning knows a thing or two (it’s two) about the Super Bowl. More specifically, the New York Giants great knows a thing or two about beating Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.
This diehard Giants fan asked Manning how a quarterback can prepare to beat the legendary Brady, whom during Eli’s playing days quarterbacked the New England Patriots and now plays the position for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And what can one offensive leader really do about the other one when they never actually meet on the field, save for a pregame handshake and postgame hug? Listen up, Patrick Mahomes.

And what can one offensive leader really do about the other one when they never actually meet on the field, save for a pregame handshake and postgame hug? Listen up, Patrick Mahomes.

VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Netflix’s “Cheer” led all shows in nominations for the second annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, the Critics Choice Organization and the nonfiction producers organization Npact announced on Monday.

Disney is all-in in the streaming era. Yet one of its most profitable assets, ESPN, has been reduced to a sideline player instead of a star athlete. Though the launch of Disney+ was among the most anticipated product debuts in recent memory, it wasn’t the first Disney-owned streaming service. ESPN+ hit the market in April 2018, and now counts more than 3.5 million paying subscribers. The app gives sports enthusiasts thousands of live games from Mlb, Mls, NHL, soccer from England, Germany and Italy, and college football and basketball games from the Big 12 and more than a dozen mid-major conferences like the Sun Belt and Ivy League. ESPN signed a major rights deal with the Ufc last year that makes ESPN+ the main host for fights. ESPN+ also offers users access to its “30 for 30” documentary series archive, and exclusive shows like Kobe Bryant’s basketball breakdown show, “Detail,” and Peyton Manning...
