Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy is celebrating its 25th birthday, with the first part being released in 1999. Since then, the film has become part of a series, with the release of The Mummy Returns and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Three movies were not enough for some fans, however, as many have been begging for more additions to the story, even though the last part was released more than ten years ago.

It would seem that their prayers have been heard, as the director of the first two films and the producer of the third, Stephen Sommers, revealed his thoughts on coming back for another movie.

Since 1980, horror and sci fi fans have loved being scared by the Xenomorph and the soulless Weyland-Yutani corporation that wants to study it. Nearly everyone has controversial takes on various films in the franchise: "Prometheus" and Assembly Cut "Alien 3" fans, rise up. "Alien: Covenant" fans, look... we respect you, but that movie makes it tough. But no matter where you land, we're all in love with Ridley Scott's original "Alien." It's a love that's seen high school performances turn into breakout hits, and April 26th (chosen for the Lv-426 colony in "Aliens") become a fandom holiday.
We're always looking for more to explore from the franchise, although sometimes that desire turns into a be-careful-what-you-wish-for "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" situation. Despite the valleys of the "Alien" franchise, we're still hoping for the best from the upcoming "Alien: Romulus" and Noah Hawley's forthcoming TV series from FX. Meanwhile, we...

Look what’s come hopping down the bunny trail just in time for the holiday weekend, Easter Bloody Easter, the latest in the never-ending line of holiday horrors. We’ve already had our share of Easter-themed films from Faster Eater Bunny, Kill! Kill! and Easter Holocaust to Resurrection. After the results of the first two major Oscar precursor ceremonies, this year’s Best Actor race, to many, looks to be a two-horse race: Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”) was victorious at both the Golden Globes in the comedy category and at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”) took home the Drama Globe, edging out the frontrunner, Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”). Going into the SAG Awards, Murphy still leads our odds, with six of our experts currently backing the Irishman. Giamatti follows closely behind with the support of four experts. Cooper sits on the outside right now with the support of a pair of pundits. Despite Cooper’s faltering at those precursors, he is still very much in this race. Here are five reasons why he will win the SAG Award against the odds.
He’s an A-list star

The crucial moment in “Maestro,” when Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein furiously conducts Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection” at England’s Ely Cathedral in 1973, marks the culmination of Kazu Hiro’s remarkable transformation of the actor-director as the musical legend. This will likely earn the prosthetic makeup guru his third Oscar (following “Bombshell” and “Darkest Hour”).
Like Cooper, this was a passion project for Hiro, who dreamed of sculpting Bernstein’s face ever since he fell under its spell watching a documentary at the age of 19. Thus, the collaboration between actor-director and makeup artist became a close one in their shared desire to portray Lenny’s iconic look as authentically as possible (covering the ages of 25 to 71 in five stages). They even shared a room together, making it easier to apply the prosthetics in the middle of the night. Hiro had never before encountered anyone as open and communicative as Cooper,...

A fresh report suggests that the long-gestating buddy cop sequel Lethal Weapon 5 will shoot next year, with Mel Gibson in the director’s chair.
We know that a fifth entry in the Lethal Weapon series has been in the works for a long time. The late, great Richard Donner – director of the first four films – was working on it before he passed away in 2021. Then, in the same year we heard that Mel Gibson, one half of the series’ leading duo was set to take over the directorial reins. Of course, a lot has happened in the world since 2021, with a lot of that turbulence directly affecting Hollywood film production. However, despite all of the uncertainty, Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel) is reporting that Lethal Weapon 5 will shoot next year.

Less than two months after she hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the third time, Emma Stone picked up her first Best Actress Oscar nomination for “La La Land,” which soon led to a victory at the 2017 Academy Awards. As the star of “Poor Things,” she is now on a quest for a bookend trophy that would coincide with her recent entry into said NBC sketch series’ prestigious Five-Timers Club. Even if history doesn’t fully repeat itself, just being included in 2024’s lead actress lineup would give her the impressive distinction of being the only performer with multiple same-category Oscar bids directly linked to “SNL” hosting gigs.
Stone’s fifth official “SNL” appearance (not counting three mid-2010s cameos) occurred on December 2, just one day before the seventh anniversary of her fortuitous third outing. She had also previously served as emcee in October 2010, November 2011, and April 2019. This time, she began...

Since the second Academy Awards ceremony in 1930, 73 people have received acting Oscar nominations for their debut film performances, yielding a total of 15 breakout wins. Conversely, the list of actors who have earned recognition for their final movie appearances is much smaller, featuring only 18 general and two successful examples. Those who belong to this club gained entry in a variety of ways, with some having voluntarily quit acting altogether, others having specifically stepped away from film performing, and a few having sadly not lived long enough to bask in the glory of their farewell nominations.
Since film acting retirement can never be absolutely permanent while a performer is still alive, only deceased individuals can correctly be counted as official members of this group. Although most currently living retired actors did not pick up Oscar nominations for their latest films anyway, the academy did smile upon one – Daniel Day-Lewis – on his declared way out.

Oscar-winning sound designer/supervising sound editor Richard King has two frontrunners this season with Christopher Nolan’s explosive “Oppenheimer” and Bradley Cooper’s musical “Maestro.” While each offers very different soundscapes, they capture the essence of these two 20th-century giants of quantum physics and music.

It’s taken four years for Triumph of Death — the quartet that former Celtic Frost frontman Tom G. Warrior launched to celebrate his first band, Hellhammer — to release a music video, but they’ve done so just in time for Halloween. The clip presents a live performance of “Massacra,” a galloping black-metal blast off Hellhammer’s Apocalyptic Raids EP from 1984. “Away is the suuuuun,” Warrior bellows in the chorus. “Endless the night/Mankind’s massacra/Intelligence is dead.” The performance, which features on the band’s upcoming debut album, Resurrection of the Flesh,...

The Halloween franchise is a multiverse of madness. The third film, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, has always stood off to the side by itself. The seventh, Halloween H20, came along and ignored the events of all of the previous sequels except Halloween II. The follow-up to that film, Halloween: Resurrection, was so poorly received that the entire original timeline was abandoned so Rob Zombie would direct a Halloween remake. And after the sequel to the remake, we got a trilogy of sequels to the original film. But before the decision was made to move forward with a remake, a sequel to Halloween: Resurrection was in development – and one idea for a sequel would have featured the return of Josh Harnett’s character John Tate from H20, Busta Rhymes’ character Freddie Harris from Resurrection, and Charles Cyphers’ Leigh Brackett from the first two movies. This one would have been titled Halloween: Retribution…...

To celebrate the sumptuous new 4K restoration of the wonderfully dark, critically acclaimed surreal comedy Delicatessen – out 16th October on 4K Ultra HD Edition, Blu-ray & DVD – we have a Blu-ray up for grabs!
With its iconic, surreal imagery, gallows humour and its cast of warped characters, Delicatessen marked the breakthrough collaboration between celebrated directors Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro (Dante 01). Equal parts horror, comedy and dystopian fantasia, Delicatessen is still one of the most original and influential films of its time.
A deliciously dark one-of-a-kind black comedy, beautifully and intricately filmed, featuring uproarious slapstick, an endlessly inventive script, and it even manages to add a sweet romance to the mix. Variety calls it a ‘startling and clever debut’, and Empire says it is a ‘delightfully original picture, poised perfectly between farce and horror’.

Team Taylor Swift and AMC Theatres caught Hollywood by surprise when doing an end run around the major studios and hiring AMC Theatres to distribute a secret movie chronicling her blockbuster Eras Tour. The concert pic opened to an estimated $95 million to $97 million opening over the Oct. 13-15 weekend in North America, even without the marketing muscle of a traditional studio (it came in slightly behind an expected $100 million). In exchange, she’ll get to keep a bigger percentage of ticket sales. Beyoncé quickly followed suit and struck a deal with AMC to release her Renaissance Tour concert pic on Dec. 1. While these stars are global icons and able to secure favorable terms for box office receipts, there are a few others who might have the leverage to run the playbook — if they choose to. The official opening gross for Eras Tour will be released Monday morning. — Pamela McClintock

Jeff Burr’s directorial credits also include 1990s horror movies Puppet Master 4, Puppet Master 5, and Night of the Scarecrow, as well as The Werewolf Reborn!, Phantom Town, The Boy With the X-Ray Eyes, Straight into Darkness, Devil’s Den, Resurrection, Gun of the Black Sun, Tornado Warning, and in more recent years, Puppet Master: Blitzkrieg Massacre.

Resurrection.I have now loved Suicide, the 1977 self-titled album by the brilliant, sleazy, frightening New York punk band, for longer than I haven’t, having discovered it somewhere around the age of fifteen. Still, I did not realize until last year that I had completely misinterpreted one of the lyrics of its sole single, “Cheree,” a tinkling S&m-tinged ballad. Until then, I had heard the couplet “I love you/Come play with me” as “I love you/Comply with me,” and in doing so had found the song no less romantic. Which was better, as a lyric about love? I had to confess to being disappointed with the truth, even as I recognized that “comply with me,” even in a song about a “black leather lady,” might be just a shade too dark. What is devotion, after all, but a willingness to bend to someone else’s desires, someone else’s will?...

1999, Y2K was pending, some folks were freaking out about it while most teens couldn’t be bothered. Things that stressed our parents didn’t worry us one bit and things we stressed about they found silly. Escape was found, as before and as still is, in horror movies. That year saw a few big releases, some great fun ones like eXistenZ, Deep Blue Sea, and Lake Placid, some that were meant to be great like Virus, The Haunting and The Astronaut’s Wife, and a whole lot of middle of the road titles like The Bone Collector, Resurrection, and From Dusk Till Dawn 2. The world was covered in the ooey, gooey goodness of horror and its special effects.

Halloween: Resurrection (watch it Here). The two words combined are enough to send chills down the spines of even the most hardcore movie fans. It causes trick-r-treaters to cross to the other side of the street; it’s the movie your parents warned you about. It’s the movie where this happens. To watch it is to wonder how, as in, How did we get here? From the terrifyingly simple 1978 classic to this silly, slapdash goof. With his astounding debut Kaili Blues (2015) and the equally impressive 3D odyssey Long Day’s Journey Into Night (2018), Chinese director Bi Gan emerged as one of the most promising new voices in cinema this last decade. Now he’s finally returning behind the camera with a new feature.
Later this year, Bi Gan will embark on the production of his third film Resurrection, Variety reports. Set to star Jackson Yee and Shu Qi, the project is described as an “ambitious sci-fi detective movie” tha follows a woman whose consciousness falls into the “eternal time zone” during a surgical procedure. “Trapped in many dreams, she finds an android corpse and tries to wake it up by telling endless stories. The android then wanders within her stories and its senses gradually awaken,” the synopsis reads.

Chinese director Bi Gan, whose 2018 film “Long Day’s Journey into Night” played at Cannes, will next direct “Resurrection.” The ambitious sci-fi detective movie is to be headlined by Chinese superstar Jackson Yee (“Better Days”) and actor Shu Qi (“The Assassin”) who sits on this year’s Venice jury.
Boasting Bi’s edgy aesthetic and narrative style, the film tells the story of a woman whose consciousness falls into the “eternal time zone” during a surgical procedure. Trapped in many dreams, she finds an android corpse and tries to wake it up by telling endless stories. The android then wanders within her stories and its senses gradually awaken.
Charles Gillibert’s CG Cinema will again co-produce the project. Bi is finishing the script and plans to shoot later this year.
“Resurrection” will be lensed by Dong Jingsong, whose credits include “Long Day’s Journey into Night” and “The Wild Goose Lake.”

Nathan Louis Jackson, the playwright, screenwriter and producer who worked on the Netflix superhero series Luke Cage, has died. He was 44.
Jackson died Aug. 22 at his home in Lenexa, Kansas, his wife, Megan Mascorro-Jackson, told The Hollywood Reporter. She said her husband had heart issues — he had undergone an aortic dissection in 2019 — and the family has chosen against an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Since 2010, Jackson also wrote and produced for such other shows as Southland, Shameless, Resurrection, 13 Reasons Why, Genius and S.W.A.T.
During the two-season run (2016-18) of Luke Cage, created by Cheo Hodari Coker and starring Mike Colter as the Harlem hero from the Marvel Comics, Jackson wrote two episodes while also serving as a co-producer and executive story editor.
“The series makes a bigger, grander statement about African American men and how we view them,” he told The Kansas City Star a few years ago.

With the 2022 thriller "Resurrection," director Andrew Semans crafted an elegant and disturbing portrait of psychological abuse by thrusting viewers directly into the headspace of the lead character. To watch the movie is to feel the tightly enclosed traps closing in on its protagonist, and by extension, the viewer. For a horror-adjacent movie with a title like "Resurrection," you might think it's about something coming back from the dead. And in a way, it is -- a ghost from the past, back to haunt the coldly professional Margaret.
But biologist David (Tim Roth) is very much alive, very real, and very threatening. And Margaret's daughter Abbie (Grace Kaufman) is almost 18, the same age Margaret was when the 20-years-older David charmed her and her parents, got her to move into his home, and quickly began destroying her sense of self. Now he is back in her life, orbiting her and pushing her...

Intro: Just like any successful movie franchise from any particular decade, there’s one unwritten rule; if it’s much loved, generated enough in box office returns, and is clearly still a relevant IP, you know what to eventually expect. Yup, that’s right movie-fans – a remake! Love em’ or loathe em’ they’re not going away anytime soon, and sometimes they can not only offer a fascinating take on the original movie but also enhance the legacy by bringing in a whole new audience. 1982’s The Thing is an incredible remake of the 1951 original, along with similarly effective fellow horror remake The Fly from 1986. Also, more recently we’ve had gems such as Martin Scorsese’s The Departed, the hugely popular A Star is Born and, of course, The Wicker Man. Okay, maybe not that particular example, but Nicolas Cage randomly punching people in a bear suit has to hold some value to movie-fans,...

There aren't a lot of cameras rolling in Hollywood right now. A strike by the Writers Guild of America began on May 2, 2023, shutting down 80 percent of productions, and writers were joined by actors on June 14 when trade association AMPTP failed to reach a deal with the union for actors and performers, SAG-AFTRA. This means that actors on any production shooting under an agreement with SAG-AFTRA -- which means the vast majority of movies and TV shows produced by American studios -- are currently on strike from both acting in and promoting struck projects.
There are a few exceptions to that category. Some projects filming overseas are instead produced under agreements with local actors' unions, like the United Kingdom's Equity. In cases like this, SAG-AFTRA members have no legal protection if they choose to strike, even in solidarity. Per Equity's guidance, SAG-AFTRA members working under Equity contracts in the UK...

I have some great news if you’re a Hulu subscriber and feel you’re missing out on Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The first three episodes of the limited series, “Resurrection,” “Promises,” and “Betrayed,” are now streaming on Hulu through Thursday, August 17. Marvel’s alien infiltration thriller is sprinting toward its Episode 6 finale next Wednesday, July 26, bringing the conflict between the Skrulls and humans to a new inflection point.
While Hulu often streams Disney+ shows after a varying window of time, Secret Invasion’s debut on the service marks the first time a Disney+ original series is migrating to the platform. The process of bringing Secret Invasion to Hulu comes ahead of the service integrating into Disney+ as part of a “one-app” initiative. The two streamers could merge as soon as the end of this year.
The Skrulls are an alien race who can perfectly simulate any human being at will.

Before her ascension, Hall starred in Nick Murphy‘s chilling The Awakening, a 2011 indie haunter where she plays an expert on hoaxes.
