Joe Camp, who wrote, produced and directed a series of films and TV shows that elevated a pooch stage-named Benji to Hollywood’s canine pantheon alongside Lassie and Rin Tin Tin, died today at his Tennessee home. He was 84.
His death was announced by his son, the director Brandon Camp, who told Deadline that his father died after a prolonged illness at his home in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, surrounded by family.
In addition to the long-lasting Benji franchise that began in 1974 and would continue well into the 21st Century, Camp co-wrote and directed Hawmps!, the 1976 Western comedy that replaced horses with camels, and 1979’s The Double McGuffin, a mystery film starring Ernest Borgnine and George Kennedy.
While he also wrote a series of books about horses, including the popular The Soul of a Horse and Why Horses Are Barefoot, Camp’s most enduring contribution to Hollywood was and remains the...

Netflix is adding content from another TV titan to its roster of originals. Homicide: New York, a true-crime docuseries from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, is set to debut on the streamer on March 20. It will be followed by Homicide: Los Angeles later this year. Both installments consist of five episodes each.
Homicide, from Wolf Entertainment and Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz’s Alfred Street Industries, tells the stories of a city’s most notorious murder cases by following the detectives and prosecutors who cracked them.
The project predates Wolf’s current massive deal with Universal Studio Group (signed in 2020 and extended in 2023 through 2027), which includes a first-look agreement with Universal Television Alternative Studio for unscripted/docu-series.
Homicide is executive produced by Wolf, Tom Thayer, the head of the non-scripted arm of Wolf Entertainment who was instrumental in getting the project together, Lipsitz, Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe and Adam Kassen.

Forget Batman, forget the X-Men. The greatest rogues gallery in comics history belongs to Spider-Man. So great are his baddies that Sony continues to spend millions of dollars to launch a cinematic universe around them. And while Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Venom continue to get most of the attention, even B-level guys like the Spot have been elevated to big bads.
But let’s be honest, even Spider-Man comics have a few duds when it comes to bad guys. Even if we took out the horrendous mess that was the Clone Saga (and we aren’t going to take it out), Spider-Man would still have too many losers and redundant villains to count. So, here are the absolute worst of the worst in Spider-Man’s villain roster, characters so dull that they aren’t good for much besides getting killed in a crossover event.

"We're being hunted." Well Go USA has dropped the trailer for an action film titled Kill Shot, formerly known as Hunted, from filmmaker Ari Novak. The plot of this sounds a lot like the plot of Cliffhanger, with a few extra "here's an elite soldier character" and "here's a nearly naked woman" tricks up its sleeves. Posing as hunters, a group of terrorists are in search of $100 million that was stolen and lost in a plane crash en route from Afghanistan. The story follows two people on a hunting trip, a former Navy Seal and his client, who stumbled upon the cash and try to figure out how to get away with some of it without being killed. Rib Hillis who co-wrote the script, stars with Rachel Cook, Bobby Maximus, Mara Ohara, Xian Mikol, and Mark Murphy. This looks hilariously bad, oh so bad, especially when this main blonde woman...

Hounded, also released as Hunted outside the UK, is the latest cinematic variation on The Most Dangerous Game. It takes elements from films like Don’t Breathe, Nefarious, and Turkey Shoot then adds the very upper-class British tradition of fox hunting. The result is a not-so-subtle survival horror metaphor for class warfare.
Leon and his brother Chaz along with their partners Vix and Tod have a good racket going on. Gregory, the local antique dealer hires them to rob his own customers. It’s good money for a quick in and out, grabbing the one item of value he wants.
Having made enough to send Chaz to college, Leon is ready to retire. The others however want one more job to set themselves up.

Attacked and bound by their captors, they are spirited away from the home and released in the middle of nowhere — tracked, hunted and to be killed like animals by a heavily armed wealthy family.
Review: We’ve seen the “Most Dangerous Game” story told in many different ways, yet Hunted manages to still be entertaining despite knowing where it’s going for most of the duration. And I think it’s because they go the smart route of keeping this small. This is a singular group being hunted by another singular group. This isn’t some large conspiracy that spans the entire world, which immediately goes into the realm of fantasy. The film’s greatest strength is just how real the situation feels.

German powerhouse Constantin Film and Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions have teamed to make a high-end drama series about the events surrounding the Nuremberg Trials.
The drama, currently unnamed, follows the prosecution of Nazi officials after World War II, the first time in history that people were held accountable for war crimes, exploring characters from all sides of the trials.
The series will be executive produced by Oliver Berben and Robert Kulzer for Constantin Film, Spotnitz and Emily Feller for Big Light, and Ron Maxwell (Gettysburg) along with Jeff Berg of Northside Services.
“This series is a real powerhouse,” said Spotnitz. “It’s an investigative mystery, a suspense thriller set both in a courtroom and on the global stage, and one of the most searing moral dramas imaginable. The characters and the issues all seem startlingly relevant and contemporary.”

"Last night you made the unfortunate mistake of breaking into my ancestral home." Saban Films has unveiled an official US trailer for an indie action thriller titled Hunted, formerly known as Hounded when it premiered at FrightFest in the UK last month. Arriving in the US in theaters and on VOD starting in October. The film comes from the UK and is described as a "seriously suspenseful action-thriller." A stately home robbery takes an evil turn one night when a gang of young thieves are caught by the owners of the house and then hunted across the estate for the proprietor's entertainment. Sounds like a bit of a twist on "The Most Dangerous" game concept, along with some wealthy estate owners being royal assholes. Hunted stars Samantha Bond, Nick Moran, James Lance, and Malachi Pullar Latchman. Get a head start now. It almost reminds me of The Hunger Games in this trailer,...

Channel 4’s former Deputy Programmes Chief Kelly Webb-Lamb has launched a non-scripted production outfit with two former Channel 4 commissioners to create “global formats and ideas of scale.”
Webb-Lamb, who up until recently was the second most senior content person at the Gogglebox network, has opened Mothership Productions with Creative Director Charlotte Desai and Director of Programmes Gilly Greenslade, both of whom worked extensively with her at Channel 4 before she departed last year.
The production outfit looks set to be a key player in the booming British non-scripted TV sector, focusing on big, sellable formats, and said it already has several projects in advanced development while the team is currently pitching to broadcaster and SVoD commissioners.

Former Channel 4 deputy director of programs and head of popular factual Kelly Webb-Lamb has set up a new production company.
Mothership Productions will focus on global formats and “ideas of scale” across the unscripted genres. The new outfit has already hit the ground running with a senior team that includes Charlotte Desai, Gilly Greenslade and Gudren Claire.
“After 25 years in the industry on both sides of the pitching/buying table, it felt like it was time to take the leap and have a go at doing it for myself,” said Webb-Lamb. “I can’t honestly believe I’ve managed to persuade such a brilliant group of women to come along for the ride with me. We are super ambitious — and intend to make some properly great, entertaining, warm and witty programmes — and have a lot of fun.”
Webb-Lamb is one of the U.K. TV industry’s most well-respected executives.

Don't mess with the Reapers and expect to live to tell the tale.
The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 3 gave us our biggest look at this merciless group, and they might just shape up to be as good adversaries as The Whisperers.
That's a lofty statement, I know, but I'm only going from the cutthroat nature of "Hunted," which found Maggie, Negan, Alden, Gabriel, and some other survivors scrambling to evade these bad guys that want them dead.
The battle at the top of the episode was visually stunning, and the frantic nature of the scenes as they were, well, hunted, highlighted why Maggie has been trying to evade them for so long.
If you watch The Walking Dead online, you know the series likes to tip the hat to older horror movies, and the Reaper silently appearing behind Maggie was utterly terrifying.

Kelly Webb-Lamb, U.K. broadcaster Channel 4’s deputy director of programs and head of popular factual, will leave the channel later this year.
Webb-Lamb joined in 2016 and worked closely with Channel 4 director of programs Ian Katz in realizing the channel’s creative strategy. She oversaw the popular factual commissioning departments responsible for over 1,000 hours of programming every year — from the launch, and continued success, of “The Great British Bake Off,” “Gogglebox,” “Hunted” and several other creative successes including “The Circle,” which will return soon for a third season. Webb-Lamb was also instrumental in the channel’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
She leaves the broadcaster in good heath, with record growth in young viewing and All 4 streaming during 2020. The main channel ended the year with linear share up 3%, share among 16-34s up 8% and All 4 viewing up 31%. Webb-Lamb exits at a time when the channel is looking to the...

Vincent Paronnaud takes a well-trodden path with this modern fairytale but adds smart meta-commentary and edgy menace
Cinematic rethinks of classic fairytales, especially Red Riding Hood, are a micro-genre about as exasperating and banal as the “year X called and it wants its Y back” joke. In Hunted’s case insert, 1985 for X and “postmodern feminist trope” for Y. Nevertheless, this uncomfortable but adroitly executed horror version in which a young woman is chased through the woods by toxic male monsters is pretty good stuff: unnerving in the right ways and flecked with colourful, unexpected specks of wit.
