Unequivocally, not only one of the greatest American actors ever but also the Number One favorite thespian to ever play the President of the United States in Sidney Lumet's classic spec-fiction cult classic "Fail-Safe" For years, many fans of this accidental Nuclear Armageddon film actually "preferred" & wished that he actually WAS the President!!!! Nuff-Said...

Think of it, this magnificent Chicago-born actor was responsible for at least not one or two but THREE totally iconic roles that stagger the mind of alll genre fanatics. These seminal performances include Han Solo [Star Wars], Det. Dekker [Blade Runner], & the iconic Prof. Indiana Jones [Raiders of the Lost Ark series]...Hall of Famer, he is....

A longtime personal favorite of mine, Rutger's claim to cult-classic status is seen in the body of his work & chosen roles...just consider the ultimate Scifi-Spec/hard-boiled Detective-fiction cult-classic "Blade Runner" where he unforgettably played Supersoldier-Android/"Replicant" Roy Batty arch-nemesis of Blade Runner Dekker! As well he killed in other roles including "Crossworlds," the legendary "Hitcher," Omega Doom & Sin City's despicable cardinal Roarke...Definitley Bad Ass!

"I'll be Back..." Arnold is still the undisputed king of all things Spec-Scifi..Hell, he built the genre into its level of world-wide dominance seen today & has benefited tremendous as he ascended to the apex of cult icon heaven! Let's start with "Conan, the Barbarian" & then list both the legendary "Predator" role of Dutch, the premier role of flesh-covered android assassin sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor in "The Terminator." What, that's only 3 classic roles. We really get started with cult classic roles including the incredible "Total Recall's" Doug Quaid/Hauser, Ben Richards [The Butcher of Bakersfield] of "The Running Man," super spy Harry Tasker in "True Lies, " cloned tech expert Adam from "The 6th Day" & a personal fav of mine-the doomed & tragic martyr Det. Jericho Cane in "End of Days." So what we have here is a grand total of EIGHT iconic roles...DAMN, OMG & WTF...!!! Long live the King! Where would the genre be without him...

Perhaps the most underrated spec-scifi action icon of my era, Kurt is Defintely a cult classic unto himself...Along with personal fav's of mine like Bruce Willis or Keith David, when Kurt played Antarctic copter pilot MacCready in the Legendary scifi classic, John Carpenter re-make of "The Thing" the role could belong to no other...He became a legend & fulfilled his royalty with the creme-de-la-creme' portrayal of Snake Plitzkin in 'Escape from New York" & only embellished his fame as Jack Burton 'Big Trouble in Little China," Col. O'Neil of "Stargate" fame & a personal fav role of mine-obsolete super soldier Todd 3465 in "Soldier." Just when it couldn't have gotten better for me with this guy, he goes & hooks up with my childhood crush Goldie Hawn...Well, Well...what are heroes for??? My man!

OK boys, move over! There is absolutely nothing I do not like about this epic actress roles! in this genre she is perfect...Ellen Ripley from the iconic "Alien" franchise, belongs to her & her alone! She is defintely the Queen of the genre [with close competition from Milla Jovovich]. But hold on there sports fans, let's not forget the other seminal roles she has expertly crafted & inhabited such as Dr. Grace in the biggest scifi epic of all time "Avatar" or Hadley Sloane-Bill Murray's babe from "Ghostbusters." Last, there's the hilarious Gwen DeMarco of "Galaxy Quest' Way to go girlfriend...ooopps, I mean your highness!

Hell, who else on planet Earth could have played nemesis to the Devil, Father Merrin in the scariest movie of all time "The Exorcist?" But wait, remember Director Burgess in P.K. Dick's "Minority Report," Chief Justice Fargo-the man who took the "Long Walk out into the Cursed Earth" from "Judge Dredd," or the deliciously evil Leland Gaunt in Stephen King's "Needful Things?" Icing on the cake for this magnificent actor is Henry Farber "Until the End of the World," Dr. Kynes in Frank Hebert's epic "Dune," CIA wet-boy Joubert in "Three Days of the Condor," & The Role of Antonious Block playing chess with Death in Ingmar Bergman's classic "The Seventh Seal" Whew!

Yup, that is Leon from "The Professional" a cult classic of mine....What an acting stud he is! Superior craftsman, an actors actor who killed in the "Crimson Rivers" series as Det. Pierre Niemans. As well Reno qualifies for cult status in his roles as Phillipe Roache form 1998's "Godzilla", "Mission: Impossible's" Franz Krieger, Alexi Petrovich in "Rollerball" & Capt. Fache in "The Da Vinci Code"

Well deserved King of all things Hollywood he is! Long an acting idol of mine, I never forget that Jack cut his acting teeth at the old Hammer Films horror cult classics. Having paid that homage, NOBODY inhabited a role better than Jack as doomed writer Jack Torrance of Stephen King's epic "The Shining" {Here's Johnny!]. Must not forget Bedlo in "The Raven," Duvalier in "The Terror," Daryl Van Horne [aka Satan] in Witches of Eastwick," Pres. Dale of "Mars Attacks." Yet, the last two roles are for gthe ages in genre fame as the Joker in "Batman" & cursed Will Randall the werewolf of "Wolf" Quite a list there Jacko!

King of Black scifi actors-I am humbled by this superb thespians range, longevity & dedication to the genre. A Cult Classic he is as can be seen in his rendition of Roddy Pipers ace Frank Armitage in Carpenter's Satirical anti-capitalism alien invasion epic "They Live" or the inimitable Childs from "The Thing." David's vast lineup of roles in highly regarded [by hardcore scifi-spec fiction fans] include Alex Holland in the masterful rendition of the great Robert Heinlen's "The Puppet Masters," Holy Man Abu-IMan-Al Walid form my fav "Pitch Black & Chronicles of Riddick" "Final Fantasy: Sprits Within" & Agent Keith in "Gamers." Yea boy, you got it going on Bro!

Ah yes Jeffery; what a subversive & delightful actor you are! His roles scream of independent cult horror at its best. H. P Lovecraft afficiando & Stuart Gordon muse, Combs hit proverbial grand slams in cult classics [my favs] like his portrayal of Miskatonik's mad scientist Dr. Herbert West in "Re-Animator & Bride of Re-Animator," as John Reilly opposite his real wife Barbara Crampton in "Castle Freak," Dr. Pyle from the infamous Jack Deth "Trancers" series, H.P. Lovecraft himself in "Necronomicon: Book of the Dead," my personal classic as inter-dimensional researcher Crawford Tillghast of "From Beyond" fame & Dr. Vannecutt in "House on Haunted Hill" He virtually killed the role of urologically challenged Milton Dammers in "The Frighteners" Jeff, you are a keeper in this genre....

Hubba Hubba; I still have dreams of becoming her love slave while she's dressed up in her Borg Queen outfit....Yikes! Been following her for over 30 years now & I am not disappointed...She is a TRUE pioneering trailblazer in the cross-genre of scifi-horror-fantasy with epic performances like the haunting Alma Mobley in the chilling adaptation of Peter Straub's "Ghost Story," her epic-over-the-top portrayal of viciously protective shape-shifter momma Mary Brady in King's "Sleepwalkers." This consummate actress has played Mary [Shelly] Wollstonecraft as she created 'THE Mother of All Scifi Horror genre' "Frankenstein" in "Haunted Summer," test role] The Borg Queen in "Star Trek: First Contact," Karen in "Reign of Fire," & Christabella from "Silent Hill" Simply an amazing woman & a damn fine artist!!!!

Aww Shucks now...we ARE talking about the father of the Resistance & leader John Conner daddy right? Yup, he's trooper Kyle Reese from "The Terminator" alright. And that role is his! But do not forget what he did for the "Alien" franchise in contributing to what is arguably the greatest sequel EVER made in all of film: "Aliens" as Corporal Dwayne Hicks-Ripley's Gung-Ho stud muffin...Watching this guy act, as I have for nearly 3 decades now, is like gazing into the dazzling light refracted from a multi-faceted diamond...You never catch him acting...And he's always totally authentic when he is in character. Just watch his performance as Sheriff Hague in Tarantino's "Grindhouse," the demented Navy Seal Lt. Coffey in "The Abyss," or husband Russell Quinn in the apocalyptic "The Seventh Sign."

Putting together a rather impressive genre resume. Take a look at Her Det. Veder in "Vampire in Brooklyn," limo driver Mace Mason in "Strange Days [a fav of mine], Rachel in Carl Sagan's "Contact," Dr. Evers from "Supernova." Shoot she's even in "Green Lantern"

He is no joke! My main man of the genre boasts unforgettable credits. Look at my 1st Ironside experience, as Esper Daryl Revok in the legendary "Scanners," Lem in "Watchers," the classic Richter in "Totall Recall" Gen. Katana of "Highlander 2," hard-as -nails Rasczak form cult classic "Starship Troopers," the voice of Tyler in "Heavy Metal 2000." Sen. Armitage from "Mindstorm," the tragically misled by duty Gen. Ashdown in "Terminator Salvation."

Chicago's own, "From My Cold Dead Hands" Ben Hur himself or should I say Moses! Just you remember that this fine actor is a thinking man's credit to our genre! He is singlehandedly responsible for bridging the gap between Golden-Era scifi-Spec fiction of the 40's & 50's and the New Age of the 80s til now. How'd he do it? Why take a look his epic portrayal as forlorn Col. Taylor in the quintessential Spec scifi film: "Planet of the Apes." Then gander at his last man on Earth Robert Neville in "Omega Man," Det. Thorn in "Soylent Green," spy chieftain Trilby in "True Lies," Harglow from 'In the Mouth of Madness," Evanston Illinois loves ya Chuck & so do I...

Dr. Weller, I presume? Another 'thinking man's' genre giant. Exquisite body of work includes his famous portrayal of Joe in the cult classic "Screamers" & the legendary Ofc. Alex Murphy of "Robocop Franchise" fame. But I remember him from the true cult film "Buckaroo Bonzai: Across the 8th Dimension" as well as Steve Beck in "Leviathan!"

Larry Fishburne, you lucky dog! Better NEVER let her go....I fell in love with this scifi maven as she killed in the role of futuristic bombshell Helen Carter in "Cleopatra: 2525." Then she had to gone & nuke me with what I quietly consider one of the best under-played roles ever as 2nd in command & fellow galactic war veteran of the smuggler spaceship Serenity in the best U.S. scifi series since Star Trek "Firefly" & the epic movie "Serenity." But for really heavy street cred in this genre just consider she was in BOTH "The Matrix" films....I'll wait for you Gina...I will...lol

Who knew that "Our Boy" was a scfi-horror-Spec fiction muse, eh? Need help with that? Just look at his roles like his last one as the monadic keeper of the faith traveling the post-apocalyptic Wasteland as ELI in "The Book of Eli," ATF Agent Carlin from "Deja Vu," Ben Marco in the chilling re-make of cult classic "The Manchurian Candidate," enigmatic paraplegic criminologist Lincoln Rhyme in "The Bone Collector" or the Ill-fated martyr of Det. John Hobbes in "Fallen." But for me, he had me with hsi fascinating prtrayals of beleaguered Navy Cmdr. Hunter in "Crimson Tide" & my fav, the wrongly imprisoned ex-cop of the speculative future Lt. Parker Barnes in "Virtuosity"

Ever since he stole home plate with his masterful performance as the fully grown Anti-Christ Damien in "Omen 3: The Final Conflict" I was hooked on this New Zealander. Then came his role as Russian 1st Ofcr Borodin in Tom Clancy's "The Hunt for Red October." Now things get really interesting here. Sam shows his stuff over & again as Fitzpatrick in "Until the End of the World," "Memoirs of an Invisible Man," & hits the game winning touchdown with his Dr, Grant in Micheal Creighton's blockbuster"Jurassic Park" series. Now does it end there; nope. We have him as John Trent in "In the Mouth of Madness" & my very special performance experience of gravity-drive inventor Dr. Bill Weir in "Event Horizon" along with Richard Martin in Issac Asimov's "Bicentennial Man." Quietly, he IS a master of this genre. & very much under-appreciated.

Doesn't matter with this Cult Idol: Whether it be in "Terminator: Salvation" as the unforgettable & haunting freedom fighter John Conner, Equilibrium [as the enigmatic Fahrenheit 451-like super-priest John Preston], New Age existentialist madman Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho," unwitting hero of humanity Quinn from legendary "Reign of Fire," "Batman Begin's/Dark Knight's" Bruce Wayne or the mysterious illusionist Alfred Borden in "The Prestige" you will not forget Bales presence. His contribution to the genre is historic in magnitude

R U kidding me!!!? This is Darth Vader [Star Wars]. Totally iconic he is. But let's look at the body of his formidable roles in this cross-genre. USAF B-52 Lt. Lothar from Kubrick's Spec-fiction masterpiece "Dr. Strangelove," Older the Elder shaman in "Exorcist 2," Conan-the Barbarian's" chilling epitome of ruthlessness Thulsa Doom, National Security Council Advisor Adm. Greer from Clancy's espionage thriller "Hunt for Red October/Patriot Games" Strategic Air Command "Looking Glass" airborne commanding General codenamed "Alice" in nuclear holocaust[my fav] "By Dawn's Early Light." Stunning body of genre work....

Lets start with his role as punkster in "The Terminator." We move on to "Weird Science's" Chet [a brothers' nightmare], hallmark setting role as Pvt. Hudson in Cameron's "Aliens," bounty hunter Matt in "Slipstream" Severin from the cult classic "Near Dark," the iconic Det. Jerry "the Lone Ranger" Lambert from the underrated classic sequel "Predators 2" Simon the duplicitous used care salesman in "True Lies"...No matter how Bill is depicted, he definitely inhabits his roles in an truly unique & unforgettable way! Right on Bill...

The guy is a darned cult classic all unto himself....A giant unto the cross-genre spectrum. One of my favorites, Dourif's body of work is also legendary & long. Tommy-"Eyes of Laura Mars"; Spooky Peter De Vries -"Dune"; Ray-"Blue Velvet"; demonic Chucky aka serial-killer Charles Lee Ray-"Child's Play"; The most disturbingly evil Gemini Killer-"Exorcist 3"; King's psycho exterminator-"Graveyard Shift"; Al Bart-"Critters 4"; Jack Dante-"Death Machine"; Dr. Geldman-"Alien Resurrection"; Grima-Lord of the Rings Two Towers"; Stan-"The Box"; the alien-'Wild Blue Yonder" & Sheriff Brackett-"Halloween" & the salesman-"Priest".....Holy Cow! All hail a Prince of Cross-Genre!

Besides "Pumpkinhead" Lance is known as the sympathetic android in "Aliens" (Greatest Sequel Ever)! Of note, he also played the quasi-evil human template for which the android was made. This human template is directly related to the Arch-Evil corporation within the Alien-universe better known as Weyland-Yutani: Lance is Weyland!!! Let's not forget his role in the original "Terminator" movie!

She will forever be known as "The Bride" thanks to Tarrentino's "Kill Bill" epic! I personally like her also in Gattaca! But let's not forget her enjenue' role in Dangerous Liasons..Succulent indeed!

Born to ever be known to the era of the Baby Boomers as the face of Dracula!!!

Known for his debut as "Boo" in the epic "To Kill a Mockingbird"; Duvall was born to play 3 roles!!! Marlon Brando's consigliere in "The Godfather," twisted Army Air Cavalry Colonel in " Apocalypse Now," and Marine Dog-Fighter Pilot in "The Great Santini"...Can't forget "Tender Mercies" for which he won th Oscar!
