How did that one song go? Now I wanna sue you too! Maybe not, but the ugly legal battle between the estates of Joey Ramone and Johnny Ramone continues, as Mickey Leigh (Joey’s brother) has countersued Linda Cummings-Ramone (Johnny’s widow), claiming she is infringing on the Ramones‘ trademarks and exploiting the band’s legacy.
Back in January, we reported on Linda suing Mickey over the Pete Davidson-led Netflix biopic I Slept with Joey Ramone, which is currently in development and based on Leigh’s memoir of the same. Linda claimed the movie is a “covertly developed an unapproved and unauthorized Ramones-based biopic” that is based on Leigh’s “one-sided recitation of the history of the Ramones.”
Now, Leigh has struck back with his own lawsuit against Linda, calling her a onetime “groupie” who has latched on to the Ramones name. The suit, which Billboard reports...

A number of legendary Los Angeles punk rockers appeared on the Tuesday (May 7th) episode of the new Netflix show John Mulaney Presents Everybody’s in L.A. Members of Fear, X, Minutemen, Germs, and more were featured in an “Old Punks” focus group hosted by Fred Armisen.
The focus group included Minutemen members Mike Watt and George Hurley, Fear frontman Lee Ving, X’s Exene Cervenka and DJ Bonebreak, Germs drummer Don Bolles, Avengers leader Penelope Houston, Cramps/Gun Club guitarist Kid Congo Powers, Saccarine Trust’s Joe Baiza, the Plungers’ Trudie Arguelles-Barrett, and Johnny Ramone’s widow Linda Ramone.
The funny segment began with Armisen driving around L.A. and gathering up all the senior punks for a focus group. Once it started, Armisen asked a number of questions like, “What is the punk-est type of food?” To which Linda Ramone answered, “Pizza,” and Ving exclaimed, “Budweiser, the King of Beers!

Long after their passings, the feud between Johnny Ramone and Joey Ramone lives on. Johnny’s widow, Linda Ramone, is suing Joey’s brother, Mickey Leigh, over the Pete Davidson-led Netflix biopic I Slept With Joey Ramone.
Johnny and Joey notoriously had a cantankerous relationship throughout the existence of the Ramones. In fact, Joey dated Linda before she eventually married Johnny.
The movie, which is currently in development and stars Davidson as Joey, is based on Leigh’s memoir I Slept With Joey Ramone. In her lawsuit, Linda claims that Leigh “covertly developed an unapproved and unauthorized Ramones-based biopic” that is based on his “one-sided recitation of the history of the Ramones,” according to Billboard.
Linda’s attorneys further state, “Ms. Ramone objects to defendants’ attempt to create a Ramones film without her involvement — not to be obstinate, but rather based on defendants’ disregard for [Ramones] assets and their conduct and treatment of Ms.

A dispute between the heirs to the Ramones’ estates has culminated in a lawsuit, with one side accusing the other of effectively shutting down the company that controls the group’s intellectual property rights while unilaterally greenlighting a biopic of the rock band.
Linda Ramone, widow of Ramones’ guitarist Johnny Ramone, accuses Mitchel Hyman, lead singer Joey Ramone’s brother, of refusing to engage with the band’s record label, merchandising partners or business managers, preventing the company from conducting basic operational tasks while draining it of funds. The lawsuit also alleges Hyman is withholding dividends owed to Ramone “unless and until she accedes” to his “self-serving demands to make fundamental changes” at the company.
The complaint, filed in New York’s state Supreme Court on Jan. 19, states Hyman “covertly developed an unapproved and unauthorized Ramones-based biopic, used Ramones IP across their own personal social media accounts without permission, and disparaged and threatened Ms.

Lisa Marie Presley was the closest thing America had to royalty. She was a rock & roll princess, the only daughter of a King. But the rarified existence that Elvis’ fame and success afforded her also confined her — and perhaps presaged her death in January at 54. In an exhaustive feature story, Rs details the heartbreaks, surprise marriages (to Michael Jackson, especially), and troubles with self-identity, substance abuse, and daily life in general that Presley faced. As friend and producer Glen Ballard says, “It was never an easy journey for her.” Here...

Some of the most successful bands of all time seem to have discovered a toxic ticket to success: constant fighting. Several artists had creative and personal issues with one another that became insurmountable. While some former bandmates have been able to reconcile after their groups broke up, others still hold on to bad feelings. Here are five bands with members who couldn’t stop bickering.

The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band was a comedy rock group formed in the 1960s. The band only had one hit song, which isn’t surprising since their hit was produced by Paul McCartney. However, many of his fans wouldn’t know about his involvement as he produced the track under a pseudonym.

The Ramones' Road To Ruin turns 40 with a previously unreleased music video and a reissue to prove it.
Some fans think The Ramones reached their peak with their fourth album, Road to Ruin, which turns 40 today. Released on September 21, 1978 through Sire Records, it followed Rocket to Russia, which saw a drop off in album sales, pushing Tommy Ramone to put more time into production. Bassist Dee Dee Ramone snagged the drummer from Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Marc Bell and rechristened him Marky Ramone, leaving Tommy to produce the album with Ed Stasium, with a nod to the Phil Spector sound. With the single "I Wanna Be Sedated" as a lead-off, Road to Ruin was considered Billboard-ready. But it only hit 103 on the charts, 50 notches down from the last record. The Ramones recently dropped a deluxe reissue of the album and found a previously unreleased video...

Lately, my Weird Sounds Inside The Gold Mind kickass rock and blues Internet radio show has spilled over into my ComicMix column. But it’s hard for me to restrain myself, and besides, self-restraint isn’t exactly my long suit.
Since every living person, as well as the estates of many of the dead, makes all kinds of “big” announcements at Sdcc, the smart people (Hi, Martha!) make their big announcements the week before the show. They’ll get better exposure in the online comics news sites, and this year they avoid having to compete for attention with a 70-year old Creamsicle media hog with severe bigotry issues.
So our friends at Archie Comics cleverly chose last week to announce their latest bizarre crossover, Archie Meets The Ramones. This past decade or so, Archie Comics (as opposed to the character, Archie Andrews) have been the most innovative and risk-taking of the Original Comics Publishers.

Since rock is dead and all, it seemed fitting to meet Savages in a graveyard. The London post-punk favorites are dressed for the occasion in their signature all-black attire, gathered on a blanket in the scorching late-August sun, between Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s iconic statue of the late Johnny Ramone and a memorial pond full of white swans. The prevailing mood, however, is less than somber. “That's the Queen's, don't touch it!” blurts bassist Ayşe Hassan as front woman Jehnny Beth makes moves toward the pond bank and the massive birds. Hassan pauses, turning back to me. “Do the ones in America belong to the Queen as well?” “She owns all the swans, even the band,” deadpans guitarist Gemma Thompson. The four women have been traveling almost nonstop for the past week or so, during which they’ve played their final Stateside shows (six here in California, one in Vegas) of the year,...

Sixty-one years ago today, this iconic image was born: Marilyn Monroe, laughing as the skirt of her white cocktail dress is blown up by the air from a subway vent. Monroe had her famous skirt moment on the set of “The Seven Year Itch” for a scene with Tom Ewell filmed on Sept. 15, 1954. Her husband, baseball player Joe Dimaggio, was reportedly infuriated by the scene, and the couple divorced shortly afterward. The iconic photo of the “flying skirt” moment was taken by Monroe's friend Sam Shaw. Other notable Sept. 15 happenings in pop culture history: • 1949: “The Lone Ranger” premiered on ABC. • 1956: Elvis Presley started a five-week run at No.1 on the U.S. charts with “Don't Be Cruel.” • 1961: A band from Hawthorne, Calif. called The Pendletones had their first recording session at Hite Morgan’s studio in Los Angeles. The band later changed their name to The Beach Boys.

This last weekend, there was a Johnny Ramone tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where Rob Zombie played, because apparently the two became friends that time The Ramones were touring around White Zombie (if all of this has been foreign to you, know there's one of your peers feeling really old for knowing exactly what I'm talking about). Anyway, Jeff Jampol, a man whose name you can quickly forget, co-manages the band's estate and with the recent death of Tommy, the last surviving Ramone, Jampol is ready to re-orient the brand around the entire band as a group (rather than honoring the individual members).
Jampol isn't any slouch, he also reps the estates of The Doors, Janis Joplin, Tupac (thank you for the hologram, Mr. Jampol), and Otis Redding, and has a grand plan for the future of the Ramones brand.

The Johnny Ramone tribute at Hollywood Forever Cemetery has become a tradition. This past Sunday marked the tenth annual event honoring the late guitarist. In a marathon celebration that began before sundown diehard Ramones fans were treated to a Q&A that included Johnny’s widow Linda, Duff McKagan, host Rob Zombie and more, an all-star concert that found both Zombie and a group, which included McKagan, Steve Jones, Fred Armisen and surprise guest Billy Idol, covering the Ramones, and finally a screening of Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects. “Johnny was a good friend of mine, we first met probably ’95 as

There aren't that many details at this point, but according to Billboard's report on the Johnny Ramone tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Sunday, Martin Scorsese is planning on directing a movie about the legendary punk rock band The Ramones. The estate for the band has big plans for 40th anniversary of the release of The Ramones' debut album in 2016, and apparently one of those projects is a biopic involving Scorsese. While this makes perfect sense since...

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the formation of seminal New York punk rockers The Ramones, and in another two years it'll be the 40th anniversary of their first album. There is, as you might expect, considerable activity beginning to bubble in the form of planned Ramones celebrations, not least of which, according to Billboard, is a biopic that Martin Scorsese may be attached to direct.Billboard drop the information almost casually into a larger piece about last weekend's Johnny Ramone tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, attended by Guns N'Roses' Duff McKagen and The Clash's Steve Jones, and hosted by Rob Zombie. There are no further details, but The Wrap have since chimed in with their own unnamed source confirming Scorsese's interest in the film. There's no writer involved yet, and development is only at its earliest stages, but if the Scorsese intel isn't exactly solid, it's certainly plausible.

Hard to believe that The Rolling Stones, half of The Beatles and The Who, and a dozen more bands that started a full decade before The Ramones (1974) have outlived them, and in many cases are still touring. They were one of my favorite punk bands ever... and with the recent death of Tommy Ramone (nee Thomas Erdelyi), all four original members of one of New York's finest bands ever, we are not "glad to see you go." The first three -- lead singer Joey (nee Jeffrey Hyman, died 2001), bass player Dee Dee (nee Douglas Colvin, died 2002), and guitarist Johnny (nee John Cummings, died 2004) -- all died only within six years after calling it quits.
They did not go gently into the night. Their off-stage dramas kept them from maintaining their once shared friendships.
Ironic isn't it? The original Ramones, the guys from "Rockaway Beach" that wanted to be sedated, are all gone.

Lots of films are dedicated to, or in memory of someone. But it's not always clear why. We've been finding out...
Back when Breaking Bad returned for its final batch of episodes in August 2013, it had a dedication at the end of it. The card read 'Dedicated to our friend Kevin Cordasco'. As it turned out, Kevin Cordasco was a 16-year old who had been battling cancer for seven years, who had met both Bryan Cranston and Vince Gilligan. Cordasco died before he could ever get to see the episode dedicated to him.
I found this such a moving story, that it got me wondering about the dedications that appear on films, and what the story behind them was. After all, the dedications are there for a reason. What I uncovered was some funny stories, mainly extremely sad ones, and some extremely moving dedications.

Johnny Depp brought along girlfriend Amber Heard when he reunited with his Cry-Baby crew at the ninth annual Johnny Ramone Tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery yesterday. The film, which marked Johnny's first-ever leading movie role, was screened against a mausoleum wall alongside vintage Ramones footage. Johnny's costar Traci gave insight into the actor's drive to become a movie star ahead of the screening, saying, "Johnny Depp desperately wanted to be a movie star, and everybody said he couldn't, because he was only a supporting actor on 21 Jump Street. Chicago – If one actress can represent an era of classic and cult movies, P.J. Soles is a pretty good candidate. Her string of roles in high profile and familiar films from the mid 1970s to early ‘80s including “Carrie,” “Halloween,” “Breaking Away.” “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” “Private Benjamin” and “Stripes.”
From rocking with The Ramones to getting the “Aunt Jemima Treatment” from a young Bill Murray, Soles stood out as a fun leading actress and best friend during a more innocent age of “Star Wars” Hollywood. She was born in Germany as Pamela Jayne Harden to an American mother and Dutch father, and in her father’s capacity working international insurance, lived all over the world. She ended up going to college at Briar Cliff in New York State, which led to an early modeling and acting career in Manhattan. She went by her initials, P.J., and has...
