There was a time, not that long ago I’m embarrassed to admit, when I would daydream about being the White House Press Secretary for a Republican president. As a spokesperson for Jon Huntsman and Jeb Bush, it’s clear this was a rather ridiculous dream, given the outcome of those campaigns, but it was something I would think about nonetheless.

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” remembered former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Monday, with co-host Mika Brzezinski saying, “He was put in a bad position since day one.” Former Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Spicer — who resigned his position on Friday after the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as Communications Director — was put in a “terrible” position from the very first day because he was asked to make “false claims” that were “easily” disproved. Earnest said the recent off-camera briefings make it look like the communications team was afraid to defend the president. “It seemed like when Sean Spicer walked out.

Two days after making false statements about the attendance and audience for President Donald Trump’s inauguration, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer vowed to always “be honest with the American people” — but added that “sometimes we can disagree with the facts.”
Asked in his first official press briefing on Monday if it was his “intention to always tell the truth from that podium,” Spicer told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, “It is. It’s an honor to do this and yes, I believe that we have to be honest with the American people.”
But, Spicer added, “I think sometimes we can disagree with the facts.

The family, of course, spent the past eight years in office in the White House, where their personal belongings in the private quarters were rarely seen by the public (except when photos of the upstairs residence were published in a spread in Architectural Digest last December).
