Robert Downey Jr. spilled some tea on the tattoo he shares with the other founding members of the Avengers.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is massive now. However, at the start it centered around his Iron Man, Chris Evans‘ Captain America, Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk and Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor.
If you were unaware, five of the six members of the core cast decided to get a group tattoo after the release of Avengers: Infinity War in 2018. The movie was one of the final ones that they all appeared in together, and the tattoo commemorates their bond.
During a segment on Wired, Robert opened up about the tattoo, revealing some additional details. For instance, he confirmed which member of the cast opted out of getting inked and which was seemingly hesitant. He even revealed who was brave enough to go first.

When Scarlett Johansson & Chris Hemsworth Opened Up About Their Uncomfortable Superhero Costumes On The Avengers(Photo Credit –IMDb)
The Avengers stars Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Hiddleston once shared their uncomfortable experiences of donning their costumes. Scarlett, Chris, and Tom play the roles of Black Widow, Thor Odinson, and Loki, respectively. The actress revealed the situation was so bad that she hallucinated during a fight scene. Johansson, however, admitted that Hiddleston’s case was probably the worst among them.
The film came out in 2012, and it changed the experience of comic book lovers forever. Directed by Josh Whedon at that time, no one could have imagined a crossover film like that with so many stars, and it was executed so well. The audience learned about Thanos and how he helped Loki with the Chitauri invasion to get the Space Stone, aka the Tesseract. Tom’s character became one of the most loved antagonists,...

The 2010 San Diego Comic-Con was not the biggest gathering in the event's history, but in terms of its importance as a movie marketing event, this was the freakin' year. The gargantuan, hangar-sized Hall H, christened in 2004 as the home for star-studded studio panels, was packed on both peak days as major stars and filmmakers shilled the next two years' most anticipated genre titles. Friday was all about "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," which, with all its major stars present, turned into a shriek-filled presentation as deafening as The Beatles' 1964 appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show."
And then there was Saturday.
Warner Bros. kicked off the Hall H festivities with a buzzy panel that could've matched the "Twilight" delirium had the main Harry Potter trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint showed up for the "Deathly Hallows: Part I" preview. The day threatened to descend into chaos when a...

Cate Blanchett came back to the MCU for the first time since 2017's Thor: Ragnarok for her role as Hela.
Hela and her ravenous army of the dead became one of fans' favorite parts of Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok, which remains the highest-grossing movie of the Thor quadrilogy.
And while the villain made a hilarious appearance via a Melissa McCarthy portrayal in Thor: Love and Thunder, Blanchett has not been seen as Hela since her encounter with Surter in the God of Thunder's third solo film.

The second season of What If? has been dropped by Marvel Studios in a year that has seen both the rise and fall of the MCU. The final Guardians of the Galaxy and the second season of Loki were absolute triumphs, while the rest was pretty much a let down. I’m not even going to go into the Jonathan Major fiasco, but that must have hurt the MCU, and the future of this thing doesn’t look too bright. Considering all these, it was essential for Marvel to wrap up this year strong, and the good news is that What If? has been quite successful in doing that. With the anthology format, it was a given that some of the episodes would not be that good, while others might just be extraordinary. And that’s exactly how it went. We’re going to rank the new batch of episodes...

What If? Season 2, episode 9, wrapped up with a fierce battle between Captain Peggy Carter, our newly introduced Avenger, Kahhori, and the main antagonist of the multiverse war. This episode is once again a continuation of the previous episode, which ended with Peggy drinking at a bar while Dr. Strange Supreme approached her. Episode 9 opened with Peggy Carter conversing with Dr. Strange, who sought her help on something he was working on. To achieve that, Dr. Strange Supreme needed Carter to kill a villain from an alternate universe, so Peggy agreed to help him. Peggy demanded to portal back to her home universe in exchange for help, but after she accompanied Dr. Strange to his destination, she recognized who the real villain of this universe was.

Comic-book movie culture didn’t just stumble this year. It face-planted, giving us one movie after another that fans didn’t much care about and that the corporations backing these films took a disquieting loss on. And that’s not how it was supposed to go. According to the Gospel of 21st-Century Hollywood, the words “comic-book film” and “box-office disappointment” are not supposed to appear in the same sentence. When they do, not just once but over and over and over again, the tea leaves are telling us something ominous and maybe definitive.

What If? Season 2, episode 7, is all about Hela’s transformation of character. Hela was the firstborn of Odin and the mightiest warrior on Asgard. Together with her father, Hela conquered the nine realms, which further increased her greed for power. In this episode, we caught glimpses of some of the films, like Thor: Part 1, Thor: Ragnarok, and Shang Chi. Just like in Thor: Part 1, where Odin had sent Thor to Midgard, in this episode of What If? Hela was sent to Earth by Odin after her greed for violence and bloodshed escalated.

Chris Hemsworth is both one of Hollywood’s favorite “Chris” stars and a beloved member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he plays the God of Thunder.
In fact, the 40-year-old actor was so well cast as Thor that he was seemingly born into the role. However, he faced some stiff competition before being cast.
The actor began playing the Norse god in 2011′s Thor and has suited up multiple times since then. The last time he yielded his iconic hammer was in 2022′s Thor: Love and Thunder, which saw him reunite with original franchise star Natalie Portman.
While he quite simple is Thor now, he actually competed with 9 other actors to land the role.
Interestingly, one of them even wound up making his own MCU debut alongside Chris in Thor. Others have recalled suiting up for auditions. Chris himself admitted that he thought he knew was going to get the part at one time,...

Chris, Liam and Luke Hemsworth are all successful actors, which is a good thing. We say that because based on fans’ response to a video from a recent jam session, they shouldn’t consider pursuing a music career like the Jonas Brothers.
On Wednesday (December 27), the Thor actor hopped on Instagram to share a video from a recent jam session he had with his brothers. In it, they belted out Green Day‘s hit song “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”
However, fans were quick to playfully roast them in the comments section.
Head inside to watch the Hemsworth brothers in action…
In the clip, Chris bangs away at a set of drums while Liam plays guitar and Luke sings into a microphone.
“Christmas album just dropped,” Chris joked in the caption.
Fans poked fun at the Marvel star not being a natural on the drums.

In 2019, Lizze Broadway was at San Diego Comic-Con when the whispers began. “The Boys are coming. The Boys are coming.” A few minutes later, castmembers including Karl Urban and Jack Quaid walked by, seemingly in slow motion. “For a show I knew nothing about, this moment stuck with me big time,” says Broadway, who plays size-changing student Emma. Four years later, Broadway and her fellow cast were preparing to show off Amazon’s college-set The Boys spinoff, Gen V, at their own Comic-Con panel — a chance to assure the 4,800 or so fans of The Boys who were packed into the convention center that the new series would be just as raunchy and violent as the mother ship. The strike derailed that. But, months later, the Gen V team tells THR how it would have gone down.

Color me surprised twice over. I missed the press screening of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the closing chapter of the DC Extended Universe, and ventured to a theater to check out a screening in IMAX on Christmas Day. The lobby was packed with customers, most of whom were going to see The Color Purple on its opening day. Given how much I’ve forgotten random stuff recently, I’ll go with that as the excuse for why I wasn’t expecting so many people to be watching movies on December 25th. That was surprise number one. Surprise number two, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom wasn’t a complete disaster.
Sure, it’s not going to earn a spot in the Top 10 (out of 15) Dceu films.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are familiar with the running debate about who is the strongest Avenger. That’s one of those questions that has a lot of different answers, but we’re posing a different one today: Who is the richest member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes based on their estimated net worth?
Since assembling for the first time in 2012′s The Avengers, the lineup of the team has constantly changed between movies.
Of course, fans know and love the core group – Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye). However, so many other favorites have been added on along the way.

Marvel Studios just shared some new information about why the missing episode in Season 1 of What If…? got pushed to Season 2.
The installment saw Tony Stark’s Iron Man crash land on Sakaar instead of Thor, leading to his own gladiatorial adventure, and it also featured Gamora sporting the armor of her dead adopted father, Thanos.
Oddly enough, that version of Gamora appeared alongside other heroes in the show’s finale despite not having her own episode released ahead of time like everyone else.

A grieving kid with cosmic radiation flowing through his veins and an unhinged celestial being sounds like the kind of problem you’d call in the Avengers for. But the group that MCU’s gotten you familiar with—the ones who never retreat without ensuring the enemy has fallen—is sort of different here. Released in 2018, the first Aquaman movie delivered a refreshing take on the DC Extended Universe, infusing the superhero genre with a blend of high camp, stunning visuals, and oodles of surrealist humour. Fast forward five years, and director James Wan returns with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a sequel that takes the aquatic hero on a new, if not exactly as exciting, journey.
The film opens with Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) leading a dual life, balancing his responsibilities as the King of Atlantis and his adventures on land. It is the end of 2023, and geek culture is dead.
For over 20 years, the world has been reveling in nerd culture the same way a cat interacts with catnip. Entire journalistic ecosystems have thrived underneath the tree canopy of geek-friendly film properties like "Star Wars," "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and other effects-based, adolescence-prolonging blockbuster franchises. In 2023, we are walking out of the woods, the trees are becoming less densely packed, and audiences are emerging into a landscape that contains hits like "Oppenheimer," "Barbie," and "The Boy and the Heron."

Jason Momoa opened up about his run as Aquaman and “beef” with a star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 44-year-old actor is suiting up again to star in DC‘s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom later this month.
In a new interview with Extra, he reflected on getting ready to reprise the role, what to expect from the new movie and if it was the last time he’d bring the hero to life.

The past 24 hours have been awash in headlines about Netflix’s What We Watched report: an information dump that many analysts considered the most transparent accounting of user data that the streamer has ever released.
The report tracked user engagement using an “hours watched” metric – meaning how many hours a piece of content was viewed, as opposed to how many individual users watched it. The report is heavy with TV series because, as the company noted, the amount of hours in a TV program are much greater than that of a standalone feature. But some movies clawed to the top of the ranking, which helps indicate how films travel on the platform.
Here are the top ten films – eight of which Netflix developed or financed — that appear in the report, which tracked hours watched from January to June of 2023:

There are times when one’s world unexpectedly shifts off its axis, and everyone involved must scramble and find a new center of gravity. November 10, 2021 was such a day for Jon Batiste and his life partner, Suleika Jaouad. That morning, the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and bandleader for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert learned he’d been nominated for a stunning 11 Grammy awards — including Album of the Year — for his sixth studio LP, We Are. It was also the morning that Jaouad, a New York Times bestselling author for her memoir, Between Two Kingdoms, began chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow that had re-emerged after more than a decade in remission.

Jon Favreau's "Iron Man" and Louis Leterrier's "The Incredible Hulk" (both 2008) in many important ways weren't yet part of the then-nascent Marvel Cinematic Universe when they were first made. Favreau put in a post-credits stinger with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury more as a wink to fans than as an announcement that larger film projects were afoot. Additionally, Downey's cameo in "Incredible" was treated equally casually, with the actors reportedly improvising their dialogue. It would only be until after Disney purchased the Marvel library in 2009 that plans for an MCU would be put into place in earnest. In many ways, then, it would be Favreau's "Iron Man 2" in 2010 that launched the MCU properly and put plans for an "Avengers" feature film into motion.

A couple years ago, Marvel received copyright termination notices from comic book artist / writer Larry Lieber and the estates of fellow artists / writers Gene Colan, Steve Ditko, Don Heck and Don Rico that would have caused them to lose the sole copyrights to such characters as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and others, as well as titles like Amazing Fantasy, The Avengers, Captain America, Daredevil, Iron Man, Journey Into Mystery, Marvel Super-Heroes, Strange Tales, Tales to Astonish, Tales of Suspense, and Tomb of Dracula. As reported in 2021, Marvel filed a series of lawsuits in response to those copyright termination notices. Now The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that all of those lawsuits have been settled.
The termination notices targeted not just specific artwork and stories, but also “any character, story element, or indicia reasonably associated with the Works.” As The Hollywood Reporter explains,...

In Kenneth Branagh's 2011 fantasy clunker "Thor," Chris Hemsworth plays an extraterrestrial once worshiped on Earth as the Norse God of Thunder. Thor and his retinue traverse the galaxy using a carefully protected device called the Bifröst, a.k.a. the Rainbow Bridge, which can zap travelers anywhere in the galaxy instantaneously within a massive laser beam. The Bifröst is protected and controlled by a powerful armored guard/engineer named Heimdall, a hulking hunk decked out in gold and leather and sporting eerie golden eyes. Those golden eyes allow Heimdall to see great distances and into other realms.
Heimdall was played by actor Idris Elba, who would go on to play the character in five additional Marvel Cinematic Universe pictures.
Elba, as many know, first broke into the public eye for his role on the hit HBO series "The Wire" in 2002. Since then, Elba has become a proper movie and TV star,...

Updated, 8:15 Am: Amid all the turmoil in the MCU of late, Disney now has one less battle to fight.
After more than two years, Disney and subsidiary Marvel have reached a settlement with the estate of acclaimed comic book artist Steve Ditko. Lawyers for the Mouse House and the Ditko estate filed court papers on December 6 that effectively ended the pricey dispute. A final affirmation of the settlement is expected in the coming weeks.
Represented by pugilistic copyright attorney Marc Toberoff, the Ditko estate in 2021 had sought termination notices on the rights to such luminaries as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Iron Man. Other artists’ families and heirs also challenged the rights to characters created by their family members. Those disputes were resolved earlier this year.
As in previous settlements and resolutions that Disney/Marvel have reached with the likes of the Jack Kirby estate and others, the settlement with the Ditko estate is confidential.

It looks like Marvel won’t be bringing its battle over the rights to Spider-Man and Doctor Strange into the new year. Attorneys for the company and the estate of Steve Ditko on Wednesday notified the court that they’ve reached an amicable settlement and expect a stipulation of dismissal with prejudice to be filed in the coming weeks.
This all started back in 2021, when Marvel filed a series of lawsuits in response to copyright termination notices from Larry Lieber and the estates of Gene Colan, Steve Ditko, Don Heck and Don Rico. A very long list of characters were at issue, including Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk and Thor. In June, all but one of the matters settled.
The last remaining dispute was with the heirs of Ditko, who co-created Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. According to that termination notice, the estate wanted to reclaim rights from comics...

These days, Marvel’s catalogue of caped content is expanding by the month, and it’s getting hard to tell what’s a sequel and what’s not with the growing connected universe that started with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man in 2008 and has continued most recently with Loki season two. And while the well of marvel movies never seems to dry up, there was a time where we were lucky to get one MCU project per year. Of course, with the box office explosion that Iron Man caused, and the healthy hundred million dollar profit that Edward Norton’s take on the Incredible Hulk saw- it was inevitable that Kevin Feige and the folks at Marvel would be eager to follow up their original success with 2010’s Iron Man 2.

The Aussies took over Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival this evening as Elvis filmmaker Baz Luhrmann sat down for a career Q&a with actor Chris Hemsworth.
“We’re a couple of Aussies telling Aussie stories,” Luhrmann described their chat, which was shaped around their experiences working in their home country and branching out internationally as artists.
Hemsworth told the packed crowd here in Jeddah that he’d arrived in the city from Brazil Comic Con, where he’d debuted the first trailer for Furiosa, the latest edition of the Mad Max series from George Miller — another Aussie that the pair said inspired them both to try their hand at craft.

Four years after his climactic defeat, Josh Brolin's Thanos remains one of the best villains in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure, the bar is often disappointingly low, but even when it comes to the best of the best, The Mad Titan who orchestrated the Infinity Saga is high on the list. From his towering stature and army of followers to his complex moral philosophy, he spent nearly a decade as a growing threat to Earth's mightiest defenders. Despite how hard Tony Stark prepared for an alien invasion, when Thanos finally touched down on Earth, it took two movies (and the trauma of The Blip) for them to scrape by with a win. And don't even get me started on the collateral damage.
It's also Brolin's performance that makes Thanos a next-level antagonist: this isn't villainy just for the sake of evil. He wholeheartedly believes that he can...

With the Marvel Comics we know today being founded in 1939 (originally known as Timely Comics), there are decades of stories and characters ready to be adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Navigating a Galactus-sized franchise like the MCU means we expected some characters would be lost to the Multiverse.
Whether it’s old favourites stopping by for a cameo or a brand-new addition being saved for another day, it’s more than the odd scene being left on the cutting room floor. Sometimes, whole characters are given the boot and banished to Gorr the God Butcher’s Shadow Realm. Saddle up because here are 12 characters who were once cut from the MCU.

The trailer for the new Ant-Man film, Quantumania, puts Paul Rudd at the heart of the new-look MCU. But does this vision have legs?
It was pretty obvious to every superhero fan that Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, until his sad demise, sat at the centre of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Who brought Ultron into existence? Yes, the billionaire philanthropist with the zippy one-liners. Who invented time travel in order to defeat Thanos? That guy who loved shawarma, weapons of mass destruction and casual sexism (at least in his early outings).
Since Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has been crying out for a focal point. Doctor Strange looked like he might step up, but soon lost his position as sorcerer supreme to Wong and almost destroyed the entire universe while trying to help out Peter Parker. Writing for one or two main characters can be difficult, but when your TV show or film has an ensemble cast playing lead roles, it is infinitely more challenging to balance them all. Joss Whedon has had to do that more than once. Whedon, of course, is responsible for projects like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" "Angel," "Cabin in the Woods," "Firefly," its sequel, "Serenity," and "The Avengers."
Even for a writer whose ensemble work has been praised (and reexamined as on-set standards are reevaluated and allegations about his behavior emerge), making sure each character gets their due and plays a role was a difficult prospect. Whedon spoke about this in an interview with Den of Geek back in 2012, right before the release of both "The Avengers" and "Cabin in the Woods." He called balancing this sort of thing a "nightmare," and it's easy to see why that might be.
