As two titans of Tinseltown in the 1980s and early 1990s, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger found ideal rivals in one another and grew so competitive that the Hollywood heroes resorted to Machiavellian tactics to gain status as the world’s top action star, they revealed on Tuesday in a televised interview from TMZ.
The septuagenarian stars, who are now close friends, sat down for an hourlong primetime special called TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons, which debuted on Fox on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Et. With TMZ founder Harvey Levin taking on the interviewing honors, the two action flick legends discussed some revealing details of their past rivalry, the troubled childhoods both say they’ve overcome and the faces they’d place alongside their own on a hypothetical Mount Rushmore for action heroes.
“Well, what is your body fat?’” Schwarzenegger recalled while discussing the multifaceted rivalry. “I was down to 7 percent.

In previous articles, we have taken a look at stars of the past we would like to see make a comeback – and there are a lot of them! It was too hard to narrow it down to just a few, so now we’ve put together another list of 80s stars we want back, including a couple of Freddy victims, some 1980s beauties we miss, and a lady we’ve only seen twice on our screens.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the famous Hollywood action star, has a net worth of $400 million. However, some risky decisions may have affected his wealth.
For instance, take the movie Kindergarten Cop. Even though the film was a huge success, according to the former-bodybuilder, it could have earned $25 million more.
Kindergarten Cop (1990)
Kindergarten Cop follows the story of John Kimble, a tough cop played by Schwarzenegger. In the movie, Kimble goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher to track down the ex-wife and son of a dangerous drug lord, who are in hiding.
Suggested“We’ll just cut her out”: James Cameron Sent a Threat Through Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Agent to Get Sigourney Weaver Back For Aliens’ Sequel
Its legacy is a complex one. While it did well financially, it also stirred up discussions about what’s appropriate for children in movies. While some people enjoyed its humor, others were concerned about the level of violence it portrayed.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has accomplished a fair bit in his life. The man came over from Austria having served in the army, claimed the Mr. Olympia title a full seven times, then launched one of the most successful Hollywood careers in the history of the industry, before becoming governor of California and finding time to marry a Kennedy in the process. But surely what he's really concerned with are his Rotten Tomato scores.
Having recently starred in his own Netflix series, "Fubar," recounted his remarkable life in the streamer's "Arnold" documentary, and whipped Jake from State Farm into shape for a Super Bowl commercial, the Austrian Oak is now gearing up for his Christmas comedy with "Reacher" star Alan Ritchson. But between all this stuff, you've got to imagine that Arnie was eager to hurry back to his trailer and pore over the pages of Rt, desperately scouring for the latest...

The Criterion Collection is known for their dedication to championing classic and contemporary movies we should all be seeing, showcasing them with exquisite transfers and film school-level special features. But when it comes to their streaming service The Criterion Channel, the catalog is a bit looser. And it got weird and worse(?) this month, as they added a 14-title retrospective of the Golden Raspberry Awards. Titled “And the Razzie Goes To…”, Criterion’s grouping compiles 14 movies that come complete with bees, turkey time and whatever the hell Tom Green was doing for the duration of Freddy Got Fingered.
Here is the full list of Razzie flicks now available on The Criterion Channel: Cruising (1980), Heaven’s Gate (1980), Xanadu (1980), Querelle (1982), Under the Cherry Moon (1986), Ishtar (1987), Cocktail (1988), Showgirls (1995), Barb Wire (1996), The Blair Witch Project (1999), Freddy Got Fingered (2001), Swept Away (2002), Gigli (2003), and The Wicker Man (2006). Back in 1996, movie titan Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most notable ventures away from laying waste to camouflaged aliens, gunning down police stations and impaling mad Aussies, was in the comedies Kindergarten Cop and Twins. They were both decent movies, but Twins in particular was an unusual and surprising move for the Austrian Oak. However, it did ultimately turn out to be a fairly good movie, mainly thanks to the unlikely chemistry between Arnie and the great Danny De Vito. Twins was a financial success but the relative critical bashing Arnie’s next movie would get, the admittedly decent Eraser from 1996, meant he was in need of career resurgence.
So, what better way to go about kickstarting his slightly stuttering career than to throw himself head first into very unfamiliar territory: the Christmas movie. On the face of it, it probably seemed like a good idea; after all, both Twins and Kindergarten Cop...

The Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone bromance is alive and well. This weekend sees the release of Netflix’s Stallone documentary, Sly, and the iconic star’s former mortal enemy turned Bff, Arnold Schwarzenegger has given the film a hearty endorsement on his Instagram:

Arnold, who appears in the documentary discussing his rivalry with Stallone, wrote, “I am so proud of you, my friend @officialslystallone. Everybody, watch Sly on @netflix.” Sly, in response, wrote back, “Thank you so much big man! That means a great deal coming from a great friend.”
In the clip that Schwarzenegger features in his Instagram, Arnie remembers passing on the script for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. At the time, Schwarzenegger was riding high off the success of two comedies, Twins and Kindergarten Cop, and Stallone was eager to try his hand at the genre.

Film fans talk about the 1990s as another Golden Age of cinema. Not only is there the jam-packed year of 1999, which gave us classics such as The Matrix, Toy Story 2, and The Talented Mr. Ripley, but the 90s also saw the rise of new auteurs, including Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, and Guillermo del Toro. Hollywood turned its attention to indie and foreign films, enriching a moviegoing experience that still featured fan-favorite blockbusters.
But to really see how good the 90s were, we can’t just look at the hits. Rather, the flops tell us the true tale of the decade’s quality – the movies that audiences skipped at the time but have proven their worth in the years that followed. Here are the best flops of the 1990s; films that couldn’t find a wide enough audience upon release, but still deserve attention today.

Even thour’s body of work is mostly remembered for his action movies, it’s worth remembering that he did quite a bit of comedy, too. Twins, Junior, Jingle All the Way, and Kindergarten Cop were all successful films that showed off Schwarzenegger’s less serious side. Kindergarten Cop ranks up there as one of Schwarzenegger’s favorite film experiences, at the time of the movie’s release he told us it was because he had a lot of fun working with all of the children who appeared in the movie. During the long career of Arnold Schwarzenegger, he has had an unusually varied group of job choices in sports, the entertainment industry and most recently in politics.
He first came to international attention as a bodybuilder winning both the Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia contests numerous times. He became the face of the then new sport of bodybuilding and that brought him to the attention of the entertainment industry. His first film was a low budget film called “Hercules in New York” for which he was mostly used for his physique. Due to his heavy accent his dialogue had to be dubbed by another actor. His notoriety increased with the bodybuilding documentary “Pumping Iron” which made him a familiar face to American audiences.
His second foray into films was more successful. For his supporting role in the film “Stay Hungry,” he earned a Golden Globe Award as Best Film Debut for a male actor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger cemented himself as one of the greatest action stars in the world shortly after starring as the killing machine in James Cameron‘s The Terminator. After this, he ventured into comedies with the likes of Twins and Kindergarten Cop. That showcased another impressive side to his acting abilities. However, action movies have always been what the majority of film fanatics expect from Arnold Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger continued to deliver blockbuster action movies up until the early 2000s. That was before he officially retired from acting to pursue a career in politics. While he tried to make a comeback in 2013...

Now available on PC, and coming to consoles June 13, The Greyhill Incident takes place in a small town that resembles the cornfields and all around atmosphere of the town in M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs. In fact, there are many comparisons between the two in the most awesome and frightening of ways.
You play as Ryan Baker and are in walkie talkie communication with others around the town who know something strange is afoot at the Circle K (Disclaimer: This is a Bill and Ted quote. There are unfortunately no Circle K convenience stores in the game). You’re all in agreement that the Government is lying and not to be trusted. Which is why you’ve all started this kind of nighttime neighborhood watch together. Things take a dark turn, of course, when the aliens show up and brazenly start abducting folks out of their homes. Including your own son.

Fubar star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in Hollywood across the 1980s and 90s. His career-defining titular role as The Terminator in 1984 propelled him into massive superstardom, setting him on a path to become one of the biggest action-hero figures in cinema history. He showcased not only great ability within action movies, but also in comedies like Kindergarten Cop and Twins. After retiring from acting and venturing into politics, Schwarzenegger returned to Hollywood a decade later with movies like The Expendables, Escape Plan, and Terminator Genisys. While his returning efforts offered some solid nostalgia and...

Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis certainly have their faces carved in the granite, but when it comes to the Mt. Rushmore of action movie heroes, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the guy in the center. He’s such a potent avatar of traditional, hyper-aggressive masculinity — from the bodybuilding to the stoicism to the third act as a Republican governor — that in one way or another, every project he works on is about that mythology. Even comedies like Kindergarten Cop and Junior rest on the so-called hilarious premise that the Austrian Oak could do anything as feminine as teaching children or giving birth. And so as Schwarzenegger takes his first starring role in a television series, it’s a given the show will engage with the vision of manhood he represents. The question is whether it will subvert that vision or reinforce it.

“Action star” may be Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most frequent label, but he’s just as skilled with a heartfelt moment, as these movies prove. Kindergarten Cop (1990) Arnold + precocious kindergartners = big laughs. Going from tough detective to (undercover) teacher who warms to the kids as he protects them, Schwarzenegger gets an A+. Bonus: romantic chemistry with Penelope Ann Miller as a mom and fellow teacher. As Arnold’s smart but naive Julius seeks out their mom, DeVito’s shifty Vincent focuses on scoring a big payday. What do they both find? Family! Arnold Schwarzenegger managed to maintain his reputation as an action star even in his much older years. But Clint Eastwood was a significant motivator for Schwarzenegger’s continued run in the genre.

Schwarzenegger was determined to become a blockbuster superstar at an early age, which he accomplished at the highest level. His roles in features like Predator, Terminator, and Commando helped turn him into one of Hollywood’s biggest action heroes. He felt like the movie Conan the Barbarian was when he truly cemented himself as a leading man.
“Universal Studios sold movies internationally, and Dino De Laurentiis was the biggest producer and had more awards on his shelves than you can even imagine,” he once told Buzzfeed. “You have Oliver Stone write the script and have John Milius rewrite it and then direct.

From the very beginning, Arnold Schwarzenegger was enthusiastic about "Last Action Hero," and for good reason. His 1993 action blockbuster had an ace up its sleeve. Namely, that it was a meta take on the very genre to which it purported to belong.
The film tells the story of a boy named Danny who's transported into his favorite action franchise by way of a magic movie ticket, finding himself alongside his hero, Jack Slater (Schwarzenegger). That premise provided a way for co-screenwriter Shane Black -- who rewrote the script along with David Arnott based on the original screenplay by Zak Penn and Adam Leff -- to send up the action genre that the film's star had helped build.
In fact, Black himself had a hand in establishing the kind of '80s action "Last Action Hero" was parodying, having penned 1987's "Lethal Weapon." All of which made for an ironic twist...

For those of you who've been clamoring for "True Lies 2" (i.e. Tom Arnold), the upcoming series "Fubar" is likely the closest you're going to get. Created by television veteran Nick Santora, the show stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a CIA operative who's been lying to his daughter about his profession for years. Turns out the familial duplicity is a two-way street, as his daughter (Monica Barbaro) has been fibbing about her work as a spy, too. When the father and daughter are assigned to work together, their relationship essentially begins anew. And, yes, Tom Arnold is along for the ride.
This is Schwarzenegger's first official TV endeavor, and, if nothing else, it's got a fun supporting cast in Jay Baruchel, Aparna Brielle (so good on "AP Bio"), and Scott Thompson. Phil Abraham ("The Sopranos" and "Mad Men") directed the pilot, which is also encouraging. But, really, we're here for the...

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arnold Schwarzenegger was fairly blunt while explaining why the “Twins” sequel “Triplets” has never come to pass.
“Jason Reitman fucked it up!” Schwarzenegger told THR when asked to provide an update on the long-discussed comedy. “Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died. Must-watch comedy series, eye-opening documentaries and an expansion of the “Bridgerton” universe are among the noteworthy additions to Netflix this month. May 12 sees the premiere of Jennifer Lopez’s new Netflix original film “The Mother,” in which she plays an assassin lured back in for one last job. And on May 23, the documentary “Victim/Suspect” examines how sexual assault victims too often get turned into suspects when they report their assaults.
“Queen Charlotte,” the “Bridgerton” prequel series, arrives on May 4 while a new season of Tim Robinson’s sketch series “I Think You Should Leave” drops on May 30. And if you missed the most recent season of the niche (but delightful) comedy series “Documentary Now!,” you can stream that on Netflix starting May 9.

Netflix recently announced it would be investing $2.5 billion into South Korean programming. Before Squid Game season 2 comes down the pike, however, the first seeds of that investment will bear fruit for Netflix in May 2023.
Netflix’s list of new releases for May 2023 is highlighted by the May 12 release of Korean series Black Knight. Set “in a dystopian 2071 devastated by air pollution,” this show will follow world-saving deliverymen known as “Black Knights.” Other international offerings this month include Japanese sumo drama Sanctuary on May 4 and Spanish crime thriller Muted on May 19.
Netflix’s domestic TV options this month include Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on May 4. That will be followed by post-apocalyptic animated comedy Mulligan on May 12 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s TV debut Fubar on May 25. And for those hoping for “triples,” I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson premieres on May 30.

Sleepless in Seattle is a romantic comedy-drama that captured hearts worldwide in 1993. The movie starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as the lead characters, Sam and Annie. However, a young yet pivotal character stole the show and left a lasting impression on viewers. This character was none other than Jonah Baldwin, Sam’s son, played by Ross Malinger.
The star was only 9 years old when he appeared in the movie, but his acting skills were remarkable. Despite the success of Sleepless in Seattle, Ross Malinger ultimately decided to leave acting behind. Today, Malinger is a car salesman living away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

Malinger made his acting debut at 6, starring as Elliot Brody on Beverly Hills, 90210. He followed that up with his role as Harvey in Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It’s a familiar problem: students need to make a bit of money in order to get by, but they also need to find the time to actually do their studying. Phoebe (Joelle Farrow) is dismayed when she realises that she has a babysitting job on the night before her most important exam. She doesn’t want to upset the client and risk her reputation, but she really has to get some time alone with her books. Fortunately, she has a boyfriend, pro-wrestler Tom (Shawn Roberts), who can be persuaded to step in. What could possibly go wrong?
Not, it has to be said, what many viewers will be expecting. A lot has changed since the days of Three Men And A Baby and Kindergarten Cop. Most people now comprehend that men are capable of taking on childcare roles, even if they’re muscular and loud in other contexts. Though a little nervous as.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's conquering of America truly is an unbelievable story. As comedian Bill Burr surmised in his 2012 standup special "You People Are All the Same," Arnie should be "unloading trucks in Transylvania [...] but because he's a great man, he had the balls to move to America and became famous for lifting weights." Schwarzenegger did indeed go from driving tanks in the Austrian army to becoming arguably the greatest bodybuilder of all time, winning the Mr. Olympia title seven times. But he also became one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, and arguably the most popular action star in history, all while simultaneously carrying family-friendly comedy fare such as "Kindergarten Cop" and "Jingle All The Way" — one of the best Christmas movies of all time. Oh, and he also found time to marry into the Kennedy family and become the governor of California.
The Governator didn't get where he is without being highly competitive.

James Cameron is a filmmaking legend, but he's not necessarily known for his sense of humor. His straight-talking style in interviews, where he has a penchant for calling things as he sees them, will always be funny. But that doesn't always translate to on-screen laughs. In fact, it almost never does.
However, when frequent collaborator Arnold Schwarzenegger came to Cameron in the early '90s with a new idea, the director would have to sharpen up his comedy chops pretty quick. The "Terminator" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" star brought the director's attention to 1991 French spy comedy "La Totale!" which he was hoping to adapt. At the time, it was somewhat outside the director's wheelhouse but surprisingly, as Cameron told Yahoo! in 2019, he "got it." Arnie's basic premise was: "'What if James Bond had to go home to his wife and family?'" And Cameron was all about it.

It’s been a big year for Prime Video. From The Boys season 3 to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to even the terrible games presented on Thursday Night Football, there were many hits to satisfy Jeff Bezos’ bottom line. How is the Amazon streamer planning on closing out 2022? Why, with another potential hit, of course!
Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for December 2022 is highlighted by the return of an old favorite. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season 3 premieres all eight episodes on Dec. 21. This time around John Krasinki’s CIA analyst will be dealing with a potentially nuclear conflict with Russia. The only other original TV series of note this month is Three Pines on Dec. 2. The mystery series stars Alfred Molina as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache.
Over on the movie side of things, Prime Video is bringing forward a major holiday tile on Dec.

It’s time to get the hot cocoa boiling and the holiday decorations up! It’s almost December and nearly every streaming service has consumers covered with both seasonal content and new shows to carry them into the new year. Amazon’s Prime Video service has a few new series debuting, including “Riches.” Starring Deborah Ayorinde, from “Them,” the series is described as “a high-stakes family drama about the exploits of the stylish, privileged, and super-successful Richards siblings vying for control over the family business.”
The streamer also brings actor John Krasinski back into the world of Tom Clancy with the third season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” This installment finds CIA officer Jack Ryan wrongly accused of treason and on the run from his own government as he races against the clock to stop a global catastrophe. The season hits December 21.

Gather ’round young ones, listen to my tale of titans of old! Long before our action heroes were handsome men like Hemsworth or Evans, bodybuilders ruled the silver screen, like Dolph Lundgren and Carl Weathers and Jessie “The Body” Ventura. But none were greater than former Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Italian Stallion Sylvester Stallone. From their humble cinematic beginnings as Hercules in New York or Joe “Machine Gun” Viterbo in Death Race 2000, the two came to rule cinemas of the 1980s and 90s in action classics such as The Terminator and Rambo: First Blood Part II.
Throughout their careers, the pair had an epic rivalry, one that began with an argument at the 1977 Golden Globe awards and continued as the two battled for box office dominance. While Sly had the greater dramatic and creative chops, as demonstrated by his nuanced turns in the first Rambo and Rocky movies,...

Anna Faris has shared the name of the director she alleges “slapped her ass” on a film set.
The actor originally came forward with the allegation in 2017, but did not name which filmmaker she was referring to.
However, according to Deadline, Faris claims in a future episode of her podcast Unqualified that the director was Ivan Reitman.
Reitman, who died in February 2022, directed films including Ghostbusters (1984) and Kindergarten Cop (1990).
Faris claims that Reitman touched her inappropriately on the set of 2006 romantic comedy My Super Ex-Girlfriend, in which she co-starred with Luke Wilson and Uma Thurman.

There’s no denying Ivan Reitman’s legacy as a filmmaker. He’s the director of films such as “Stripes,” “Ghostbusters,” “Twins,” and “Kindergarten Cop.” But according to actress Anna Faris, it’s his actions during the production of one of his later films that felt like she was working under a “reign of terror.”
Speaking on her Anna Faris is Unqualified podcast (via Deadline), Anna Faris spoke with Lena Dunham and opened up about her experience during the shoot of “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.” Apparently, while filming the 2006 movie, Ivan Reitman not only “yelled” at her but she also claims he “slapped my ass,” which left her feeling “angry, hurt, and humiliated.”

The Toronto International Film Festival started off on a historic day with one of its strongest opening films in years in Sally El Hosaini’s ‘The Swimmers’, but what some audience members will likely remember is the stressful experience of securing their tickets for the Roy Thomson Hall world premiere.
TIFF, which has gone digital again this year via Ticketmaster, has been plagued with ticketing issues all week thanks to a complicated voucher process for public tickets, reports ‘Variety’.
While it was hoped that many of the technical kinks would be ironed out by opening night, this wasn’t the case.
Media outlets, including Variety, that were meant to receive opening night tickets from the film’s studio — in this case, Netflix — didn’t get them in time for the screening due to “technical glitches” and had to be rounded up and escorted to their seats by representatives for the streamer.

The concept of a hard man ending up having to take care of a child that changes him completely is not exactly unusual in cinema, with the recipe having produced a number of truly fun films with “Kindergarten Cop” and Jackie Chan’s “The Spy Next Door” being some of the first that come to mind. Lee Chang-won and Kwon Sung-mo present a title in the particular style, which takes, though, a more dramatic path, since the child in this case is a blind-deaf one.

Is it sacrilege to say I like Arnold Schwarzenegger as a comedy actor more than an action star? Out of all his movies, the ones I've revisited the most are either comedies, films that satirize the tropes of Arnold's shoot-em-ups ("Last Action Hero"), or "Batman & Robin". The other one I've often rewatched is "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," an action movie that's all about subverting expectations by not having Arnold kill everyone that gets in his way.

Exclusive: Dorian Missick (Shirley), Pamela Reed (Outside In), Amanda Warren and Jim Klock (The Underground Railroad) will round out the cast of Prime Video’s The Burial, which is currently in production.
They’re set to star alongside previously announced cast members including Jamie Foxx, Tommy Lee Jones, Jurnee Smollett, Mamoudou Athie and Bill Camp.
Based on the New Yorker article by Jonathan Harr, The Burial follows a charismatic personal injury lawyer famous for his impressive track record and loudly unconventional approach who decides to help a funeral home owner save his family business from a predatory corporate behemoth. In a move to bring emotional resonance to a dry contract law case, the lawyer digs up an unexpected and complex web of race, power and oppression that forces everyone to examine long-buried prejudices they didn’t know they had.

Fair warning: the phrase “Capra-esque” might get a real workout in the ensuing review.
Late great comedy director Ivan Reitman’s inventive political comedy Dave (1993), starring Kevin Kline in a dual role as both a sleazy president and his kindhearted regular-guy doppelgänger, stands as a shining beacon of sunny cinematic optimism from a happier time in this country’s history.
Frank Capra, that beloved helmer of movies focused on underdog triumphs during Hollywood’s Golden Age, emerges as a clear influence guiding Reitman through Dave, with a winning script from eventual Pleasantville director Gary Ross. The picture also leans heavily on Mark Twain’s The Prince and The Pauper, in that a regular guy who happens to look a lot like a current political leader is enlisted to switch places with said leader. This time, it’s temp agency owner Dave Kovic (Kline), hired to cover for corrupt and cruel U.

When Ivan Reitman passed away on Feb. 12, 2022 at the age of 75, the Canadian producer, director, and screenwriter was justifiably remembered as one of the driving forces of cinematic comedy for more than four decades. After all, he produced National Lampoon’s Animal House–one of the classic farces of its time–in 1978, before moving on to direct a string of other well-remembered entries in the genre, including Meatballs (1979), Stripes (1981), Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and Dave (1993), while producing films such as Space Jam (1996), Private Parts (1997), and Old School (2003).
Of course Reitman is best remembered for directing Ghostbusters, the seminal 1984 film that spawned a franchise and has influenced an entire subgenre, the horror comedy, ever since its release.
Ghostbusters wasn’t Reitman’s only foray into horror territory, however. His second feature film as a director was a low-budget horror comedy called Cannibal Girls (released in 1973 and starring Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin!
