For many in Hollywood’s television and movie industry, life has become about holding on.
The pandemic and double strikes have taken their toll on the entertainment industry. And the recovery that many had expected has proven messy, at best.
And now, Hollywood veterans — in production, development and whose businesses support the industry — are facing the unimaginable reality that their dreams of making a long career in Hollywood may be coming to an end — or to a moment when they are forced to consider a pivot to a different life.
TheWrap talked to working folks in the industry to understand their personal stories. They include producers in unscripted TV, an award-winning hairdresser, a TV director, a senior vice president for development, a dolly grip and a sound supervisor. All have struggled to find work since last year. They are coping with mortgages, car payments and even food. Most are scrambling...

And so we’ve arrived at an ultra-rare Tuesday national holiday in the States. For some, that means an extra-long holiday weekend. Others might be taking advantage of the day off by watching the Coney Island hot dog-eating contest and then departing from the living room for the remainder of the day.
But for those who will remain glued to the couch on this July 4th, the world of TV has once again provided a treasure trove of non-stop programming. By our count, 36 networks are devoting significant amounts of their Independence Day airtime to a single series. In the spirit of comprehensiveness and giving everyone an equal chance to join in on the fun, here’s a list of this year’s TV marathons, arranged by how well they’ll add to the quality of your holiday.

Another amazing season of clone drama (and audiences wondering about Tatiana Maslany's well-deserved Emmy) has come to a close with the Orphan Black Season 4 Finale.
As a whole, Orphan Black Season 4 was pretty damn great. It was certainly an improvement over Orphan Black Season 3, which was a bit too Castor-clone-filled for my tastes. There were plenty of wonderful performances, heartbreaking moments, killer twists, and satisfying reunions – all the makings of spectacular drama.
While we're sad to have learned that next season will be the show's last hurrah, the finale set up plenty to look forward to. A new villain, in the form of P. T. Westmoreland, Cophine goodness, and Sarah needing to rescue her family (yet again) are all on the horizon.
But before we move on to anticipating and speculating about Orphan Black Season 5, let's take a look back at the highs, the lows, and the clone MVPs...

Warning! This slideshow contains spoilers through the Shield season 3 winter finale
Ding dong, the Ward is dead! The biggest death to come out of the third winter finale of Agents of Shield wasn?t a hero but rather a villain, the ultimate villain actually. Grant Ward was killed by Coulson for all the terrible things he has done, but specifically killing Coulson?s new love. Ward?s body has been seemingly reanimated by some evil alien being. The man who was Grant Ward is now dead, if not forever, at least for now. So it?s only seems right to count down some of his most devious and evil actions over Agents of Shield?s three seasons. Here are 11 of Ward?s Most Evil Moments on Agents of Shield.

In film, we tend to focus on the underdogs and their struggles, but what about the big guys up at the top who make it so good to be bad? The largest, most evil corporations in film don’t give a damn about the little guys; they don’t really care about anything at all except money power, and staying successful no matter what it takes — or how many feet they need to trample. Jesse Eisenberg is a great choice for Lex Luthor. Jesse Eisenberg is a terrible choice for Lex Luthor. It sort of depends on what kind of Luthor they’re going for. Eisenberg was great as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network and he was great as Magical Mark Zuckerberg in Now You See Me, so him joining the still-untitled Man of Steel sequel seems like a net positive.

Nazis, all these decades after their first emergence under Hitler’s Third Reich, have captured the artistic imagination over the years. Usually portrayed with nefarious intentions, the Nazi is shown to be slavishly devoted to Hitler and the twisted ideology he pursues and his world vision as expressed in Mein Kampf.
Sadism, brutality, a heart of ice, a callous indifference to life and death, zero morals, a predisposition for cruel wicked acts, plus a lot of sexual sleaze and greed a person could choke on – these words seem to sum up the behaviour of the Nazis on this list.
I have, for to make the list as complete as possible – included Neo Nazis in the field for it is pertinent for us to remember that Hitler’s vile influence still holds sway with some sick people today. I have listed below what I think are the most evil fictional Nazis in movies.

Calling a director ‘evil’ is a bit of a minefield. You could call Roman Polanski evil for having sex with an underage girl. You could call certain directors evil for the way they treat their cast and crew – remember Hitchcock’s remark about actors being cattle?
In this list, I am not judging directors on their personal lives or ways of working, I am rating them on their film output – for example, why is X director so obsessed with the sex lives of children? Why has X director bombarded us with the sickest idea for a horror movie ever made? Why did X director get into film making just to make money and cynically trade on his ability to gross us out?
It is a light hearted list and I love some of the directors I have listed, but by golly do they have evil ideas. Some are deeply cynical,...

Vin Diesel has been teasing a role in an upcoming Marvel movie for a long time now. Just today, he all-but-confirmed to EW the rumors that he was voicing a character in one of the superhero-studio’s movies — probably Guardians of the Galaxy, probably Groot. The world thought they were mad. Insane. What else besides sheer lunacy could make someone think that adapting George R.R. Martin’s epic A Song of Fire and Ice was feasible? We’re talking about thousands of pages, dozens of characters, a story that was started almost two decades ago.
And yet that is what David Benioff and D.B. Weiss set out to do. Somehow, they succeeded. Game of Thrones was a cultural phenomenon right out of the gate. Now, as season three comes to a close and certain brutalities have occurred, the show has never been more popular. Also, setting aside the series’s mass appeal, Game of Thrones is a finely crafted piece of television. Solid acting, immersive art design, smart writing. You name it, Game of Thrones is doing it right.
Obviously, they can’t just take the words and transfer them to your TV screen verbatim.

Once Upon A Time redeems itself with an eventful, affecting episode. Here's Kylie's review of The Miller's Daughter...
This review contains spoilers.
2.16 The Miller's Daughter
Alright, Once, I forgive you.
And I could forgive a whole lot more iffy episodes if they were all followed by such phenomenal offerings as this one. The Miller’s Daughter makes Ultimate Evil Cora a sympathetic figure for the first time. Saccharine-sweet Snow ditches the moralizing in the hope that murder will get better results (and as a bonus, her way-too-perfect mother from last episode acts like a royal bitch). Best of all, the fairytale roots that made OUaT’s first season so intriguing return with a clever integration with the real Rumpelstiltskin story, the one you knew before Once. It makes you think the Once team has some kind of quota. Like, “We just made an epic episode.

The life of "Machinegun" Johnny Eng unfolded on "Gangsters: America's Most Evil." Eng became known as the John Gotti of Chinatown during the 1980s. The New York Times reported in 1989 that Eng was trying to pass himself off as a legitimate businessman, but authorities seemed to know what he was really up to.
Nevertheless, Eng proved elusive. Even an undercover raid that scored $60 million worth of heroin didn't bring him in. But Eng couldn't hide forever, and he was eventually caught in Hong Kong and brought back to the United States to face charges.
He went away on 14 different drug charges, sentenced in 1993 to 24 years in prison and a $3.5 million fine. Eng was released in 2010, and promptly disappeared. Authorities now suspect he's hiding out in China.
True stories of the nation's most notorious criminals are told every week on "Gangsters: America's Most Evil," Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Et on Biography.

Once upon a time, Julia Roberts was America’s sweetheart. (Hell, at one point, she even starred in a movie called America’s Sweethearts.) But because nobody can stay an ingenue forever, the 44-year-old actress has officially aged into the next phase of her career — one that’s filled almost exclusively with Oscar bait (see the upcoming adaptations of The Normal Heart and August: Osage County) and campy roles like her turn in this weekend’s Mirror Mirror. Let’s call this stage “the Meryl Streep juncture.”
And as Mirror Mirror’s evil queen, Roberts has some wicked shoes to fill.

In what may be a response to the times (since theater has always been a very socially conscious medium), more and more dark-tinged plays are popping up in New York City this season. Add to that list Bill Connington’s solo performance of Joyce Carol Oates’ Zombie, running February 21-March 29 (with previews Feb. 18-20) in the Studio Theater at the Theater Row Complex (410 West 42nd Street).

In Connington’s adaptation, the playwright/actor portrays Quentin, a seemingly normal man with a penchant for serial murder. He recounts a series of nefarious deeds including the torture, rape and murder of young male victims, whom he intends to brainwash into zombielike slaves to serve his every need. Originally presented as part of the 2008 NY International Fringe Festival, Zombie has been...
