As per the synopsis, "as an Evil takes over the world beyond their front doorstep, the only protection for a mother (Halle Berry), and her twin sons is their house and their family’s protective bond. Needing to stay connected at all times – even tethering themselves with ropes – they cling to one another, urging each other to never let go. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival."

Slayer stunned fans earlier this year when they announced they’d be reuniting for three festival gigs this fall. Among those who were surprised was Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, who says he messaged Slayer axeman Kerry King and told him, “Thanks for making me look like a liar.”
The timing of Slayer’s announcement was especially surprising considering that King had just unveiled details of his eponymous solo band, including a debut album, From Hell I Rise, set to arrive May 17th, and a summer tour supporting Mastodon and Lamb of God. Slayer’s reunion gigs will follow in the fall at Riot Fest, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock.

The festival shows will mark Slayer’s first concerts since wrapping up their farewell tour in late 2019.

It’s been over 40 years since the pioneering hip hop group Run-dmc formed in Hollis, Queens, but Darryl “Dmc” McDaniels insists, “I remember everything like it was yesterday.”
He appeared at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary & Unscripted virtual event to discuss the Peacock docuseries Kings from Queens: The Run Dmc Story, which chronicles the group’s incredible achievements and influence. Along with McDaniels, Run-dmc was comprised of Joseph “Run” Simmons and the late Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell.
“We’re going back to 1980,” producer/EP William H. Masterson III said of the series, “when really hip hop was relatively small, and taking the viewer on a ride with these three young men from Queens that came together and really changed a lot — changed pop, changed fashion, changed music, changed race relations between white people and Black people.”

Three former late-night stars — or, apparently, “kings” — are sharing a stage together later this year.
Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson, and Arsenio Hall are presenting a night of standup that’s being billed as the “Kings of Late Night.” The trio will perform at the retro-themed San Diego County Fair on June 21, and again at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA, on September 28.
While some might hesitate to call anyone but Johnny Carson a “king” of the genre, the three comics are certainly some of the biggest names in late-night history.
Leno helmed NBC’s Tonight Show twice — from 1992-2009, and again from 2010-2014. Ferguson hosted the CBS 12:30 franchise The Late Late Show from 2005-2014, and Hall’s syndicated Arsenio Hall Show ran from 1989-1994, with a short-lived revival between 2013-2014.
While there are only two dates currently on the books, we could see more, as the three comics have hit the road together before.

Series creator, executive producer and showrunner David Schulner is developing a spinoff series at NBC set 30 years after the events of the original series. Tentatively titled New Amsterdam: Tomorrow, it follows Dr. Max Goodwin’s (Ryan Eggold) daughter, Luna Goodwin, who steps into her father’s role as Medical Director of New Amsterdam Hospital.
The potential sequel, which is expected to explore the ways artificial intelligence would help advance the medical industry in the future, was set up in the New Amsterdam series finale. It introduced a young and enthusiastic new medical director, played by Molly Griggs, at the beginning of the episode who was revealed at the end to be Max’s daughter, Luna Goodwin, as an adult in flash-forwards.

Kings had an all-too-brief reign on NBC, canceled after just 13 episodes. At the time, the network executives who had championed the show were getting pushed out, the new guard was unwilling or unsure of how to promote the show properly, and network TV itself was struggling to stay relevant. Ultimately, Kings aired for just six episodes before getting dethroned from its Sunday night time slot and then exiled to summer for the rest of its run. Adding insult to royal injury, Kings isn’t even streaming anywhere these days, a decade and a half later. However, the “complete series” — i.e. the complete first season — is available on DVD. With the show’s 15th anniversary falling on March 15, allow us to make a case for a first (or repeat) viewing. Vin Diesel’s been laying low in recent months following a bit of a double whammy. In May, Fast X Part 1 hit theaters to a collective shrug, with the film drastically underperforming at the box office, “only” making $714 million worldwide. While that sounds like a lot of money, it was under the benchmark the movie needed to break even for Universal. Given all the behind-the-scenes drama, many wondered what the supposed final Fast movie would be, especially with another spin-off announced for Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, and the big Fast X baddie, Jason Momoa’s Reyes. The second big blow for Diesel came in December when a former assistant accused him of sexual battery during the making of Fast Five, an accusation Diesel “categorically denied.”
With the star laying low in recent months, many wondered what would become of the Fast Saga. Now, in his first post about the Fast Saga in a while,...

Most remember Griselda Blanco as the “Black Widow,” a ruthless Colombian drug lord whose network flooded Miami with cocaine, brought in $80 million a month nationally, and who’s been personally implicated in a rumored 200 murders. Michael Corleone Blanco, her youngest son raised at the height of her drug-trafficking empire, admits she was a rigid, stern woman he affectionately called cariñosa — an endearing term given to loved ones.
“As a kid, you can’t really comprehend what is wrong, what is right, and what is the family business,” Blanco tells Rolling Stone.

Plot: A three-part documentary series chronicling the iconic forefathers of hip-hop, Run Dmc. This unique series will take you back to the 1980s, when Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, Darryl “Dmc” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell cultivated a one-of-a-kind sound that took not only Queens, but the world, by storm.

Pop singer Lola Dee, who recorded for the Columbia and Mercury labels in the 1950s and toured around the world with the likes of Bob Hope, Jimmy Durante and Johnnie Ray, has died. She was 95.
Dee died Thursday of natural causes at a nursing facility in Hinsdale, Illinois, her publicist and CD producer, Alan Eichler, announced.
After signing a five-year contract with Chicago-based Mercury Records, a recently formed company that had Frankie Laine, Vic Damone and Patti Page on its roster, the singer, then billed as Lola Ameche, teamed with the Al Trace Orchestra for 1951’s “Pretty Eyed Baby,” which reached No. 21 on the Billboard charts.

If one is inclined towards making a sports film, one can take various paths. There is the route of the ‘dysfunctional team,’ then there is the route of ‘individual glory’; some have also taken the ‘nationalistic honor’ route in the film as well. The Queenstown Kings, the new film by Jahmil X.T. Qubeka, mixes almost everything available in its attempt to turn out a good sports drama. There is a theme of fatherhood in the film, but more importantly, it’s the unifying power of a sport that is depicted with a light, humorous tone. What’s good about this film is that it has thoroughly fleshed-out characters, and they are nicely superimposed on the template of the sports drama.

A little while ago, we dug into the first half of the huge Fast Saga. Initially starting as a series of low-wattage B-movies, the series eventually morphed into mega-budget spy adventures that gave the Mission Impossible and James Bond franchises a run for their money. Of all the movies, Fast Five was undoubtedly the turning point, which took Vin Diesel’s Dom and the rest of the Fast Family to Rio, where they went up against a drug lord and met Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Luke Hobbs.
From there, the series went on and on, enduring the death of beloved Fast Family member Paul Walker, a global pandemic, directors coming and going, and a feud between two of the stars that was so intense that it led to a spin-off movie and lots of hurt feelings. We also got larger-than-life villains, including Jason Statham’s Owen Shaw, who became...

To borrow a rhetorical device from ESPN’s great sports documentary series 30 for 30: What if I told you there exists the most dramatic college football team of all time?
Said football team was filled with enough off-the-wall stories and colorful characters to make any would-be documentarian salivate. These characters and their stories include: a megalomaniacal head coach who got fired from his first NFL job mid-season for feeling up an undergrad at a steakhouse named after him, a star defensive end who was arrested for a DUI just days before the NCAA Southeastern Conference Championship game, and a tight end who committed literal murder.
That team is real. It was the 2005-2010 University of Florida Gators. Now, what if I told you there is a just-released docuseries about said team … that completely omits all of the dramatic information cited above and more? That docuseries is also real.

As the fourth live-action DC movie of this year, Blue Beetle initially didn’t have a lot going for it. The character is comparatively lesser known even among franchise fans; movie promotion was nonexistent due to the ongoing writer-artist strike; no big names were associated with the flick, and the movie remained separated from the existing Dceu. In fact, after seeing Blue Beetle, one might argue that a lot of 90s action movie tropes have been used in the making as well.
Therefore, it is understandable that viewers were pleasantly surprised after seeing how Angel Manuel Soto’s third feature film has managed to surpass expectations by not only handling the superhero movie basics like drama, action, VFX work, humor, fight choreography, and value of legacy a lot better than most of the recent big-budget entries but also portraying even a compelling representation of Latinidad through an earnest, honest worldview.

Prime Video has released its “Red White & Royal Blue” film, based on Casey McQuiston’s novel, and viewers are in store for some great twists on romantic comedy tropes and foreign relations.
McQuiston’s novel follows Alex Claremont Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), son of the first woman to become president of the United States (Uma Thurman) as he butts heads with Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) constantly, which gets them both into trouble. The president sent her son to the royal wedding with only one operative: Do not cause a scene. But apparently, he caused a big enough commotion to take the cake — literally a large wedding cake toppled onto Alex and Henry after an altercation on the dance floor. Smoothing things over, at least in a famous fake friendship kind of way, the boys strike up an actual relationship, romantic and all.

Mark Margolis, who portrayed the menacing, bell-ringing Hector Salamanca in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” died Thursday at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He was 83.
His son, Morgan Margolis, announced the news.
As the former drug kingpin who continues to hover over the Albuquerque meth trade from his nursing home, Margolis left an unforgettable mark on the Vince Gilligan television universe with barely any dialogue. In 2012, he was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in “Breaking Bad.”
He returned as Hector “Tío” Salamanca for five seasons in the Bob Odenkirk-led prequel series “Better Call Saul,” where he infused a rich backstory into the character.
Born in 1939 in Philadelphia, Margolis moved to New York at a young age to pursue acting. With an early interest in theater, he landed roles in productions such as “Infidel Caesar” on Broadway. He would go on to appear in more than 50 Off-Broadway plays,...

In episode 11 of "Ted Lasso"'s third season, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) is surprised by a special house guest: his mom, Dottie Lasso. She appears totally unannounced in London and shadows her son throughout his day working at AFC Richmond. Eventually, the pair work out some of their long-standing issues, especially those around Ted's dad's death.
If you're an avid TV watcher, you might wonder where you recognize the actor who plays Ted's mom - Becky Ann Baker - from. The answer is a lot of places, since Becky Ann is an extremely prolific character actor. Two of her biggest roles were as Jean Weir on NBC's short-lived (but extremely beloved) teen comedy "Freaks and Geeks" and as Loreen Horvath - the mom to Lena Dunham's Hannah - on HBO's "Girls." She received an Emmy nomination in 2017 for her role on "Girls." But the 70-year-old actor has had smaller...

One-third of features films approved for support by France’s National Cinema Centre (Cnc) in 2022 had a women at the helm for the first time in history, according to figures released by the body this week.
The figures were collated by the Cnc’s Gender Equality Observatory created in 2014 to monitor the presence of women across the film industry. The data is drawn from information provided for French-initiated films (Fif) approved by the Cnc as being eligible for its different support schemes.
According to the report, 69 of the 208 Fif films approved last year were directed or co-directed by women, representing 33.2% of all the approved films.

The character of Catwoman has enjoyed a celebrated history on page and screen, but as unfortunate as it is to say, Halle Berry's portrayal of the anti-heroine might be the lowest point in that history. And that's pretty much all that needs to be said about the failure of 2004's "Catwoman." We all know by now how disappointing the film was, there's no need to go on about it 20 years after the fact.
And there was arguably no need to pile on at the time, which is why it's unfortunate that the tiresome Golden Raspberry Awards decided to do just that, nominating the film for seven "prizes" and handing out four of them to Berry's ill-fated action thriller. One of which was bestowed upon the actress herself for her lead performance. And to everyone's surprise, Berry actually showed up at the 2005 ceremony to accept the worst actress award in person,...

The Good Fight and Evil creators Robert and Michelle King are staying at their longtime studio home, CBS Studios. But this was not a straight-forward overall deal renewal. The big new five-year pact, said to be in the high eight figures with a potential to cross the nine-figure mark in success, came after months of negotiations.
It was touch and go for awhile with multiple suitors pursuing the prolific duo, including Universal Television, I hear. In the end, CBS Studios stepped up to keep two of their top creators in the fold, extending their tenure to 17 years.
Under the new agreement, CBS Studios will continue to have exclusive rights to produce content created by the Kings through their King Size Productions banner across all platforms. Liz Glotzer remains president of King Size Productions.
The Kings have successfully juggled multiple series for most of their 12 years to date at CBS Studios.

It is backed by a powerful alliance of international production partners, often a sign these days of a major Latin American art film: Mer Films (Norway), Iris Prods. (Luxembourg), Talipot Studio (Mexico), Tu Vas Voir (France) and made in association with Caracol Televisión.

The rock and alternative fields at the Grammys are always interesting. Due to their eclectic mix of hard rock, alternative pop, and pop/rock, the fields are often a fun blend of commercial and critical picks, as well as some beloved industry players we see often. Robert and Michelle King’s dark and compelling CBS drama Evil is on the move. According to sources, negotiations are underway for the serialized show to relocate from the linear network to ViacomCBS streamer Paramount+.
It is one of three CBS dramas that are expected to move to Paramount+ for their upcoming seasons, including Seal Team and Clarice. Reps for Paramount+ and CBS Studios declined comment.
Evil, one of the best reviewed new broadcast series of the 2019-20 season, has a lot in common with Clarice. Both are serialized and have failed to draw strong linear ratings in the Thursday 10 Pm hour (Evil averaged 6.29 total million viewers on CBS last season) but have done well on digital. And both come from top producers on the CBS Studios roster that helped launch Paramount+ predecessor CBS All Access, the Kings with The Good Fight and Clarice‘s Alex Kurtzman with the Star Trek universe.
