The last episode of Peaky Blinders aired back on 3rd April 2022 but concluding the show wasn’t enough to break the bond between the Peaky Blinders cast. The show’s story is originally designed around a Midlands-based street gang that operated back in the late 19th century. Steven Knight‘s fictional take on the show, however, really double downs on the importance and struggles of a family, redefining the gangster genre in the process. Peaky Blinders highlights the strong relationship between the Shelby brothers, their sister, and their aunt. Thomas Shelby, the second eldest brother of the four, leads

More shark attack horror is on the way with The Last Breath, and Deadline lets us know this week that filming is underway in Belgium. They’ve also shared a first-look image (above).
Joachim Hedén (Breaking Surface) is directing a script by Nick Saltrese (Prayer Before Dawn).
“The survival thriller follows five college friends who go scuba diving into a recently uncovered WWII shipwreck in the British Virgin Islands, where they find themselves trapped by great white sharks.”
Jack Parr (Peaky Blinders), Kim Spearman (As I Am) and Erin Mullen star alongside Julian Sands (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
Deadline notes that Eric Börjeson (Let The Right One In) is the cinematographer.
Released back in 2020, Joachim Hedén’s Breaking Surface is one hell of an intense underwater thriller, so we cannot wait to see what Hedén does with sharks added into the mix.
This should be one to keep an eye on!

Shetland’s Series 7 return is a bittersweet one for fans of the Scottish BBC crime drama. The six-episode run will be actor Douglas Henshall’s last in the lead role of Di Jimmy Perez. Henshall’s departure though, doesn’t mean the end for Shetland, which has been renewed for an eighth series due to arrive in 2023. A new, as-yet-unannounced, lead actor will be joining the returning cast for that run.
Series 7, which starts on BBC One on Wednesday the 10th of August at 9pm, promises to tie up Perez’s loose ends and follow up on last series’ will-they-won’t-they frisson with Irish carer Meg. Before Perez says his final goodbye to the evidence board though, there’s a missing person case to solve, and a host of new characters to interrogate. Here’s who he’ll be meeting…

"Peaky Blinders" would be nothing without its main character, Thomas "Tommy" Shelby. The leader of the titular Peaky Blinders group, viewers have watched as Tommy constantly worked to find ways in which he can help elevate his family's status in the world. The end goal, motivated by his time serving during World War I among other things, has always been so that his family would never have to worry about being sacrificed at the altar of the most powerful again.
Over the course of the series, we see the ebbs and flows of his success, and the toll his goals take on him...

The BBC is ramping up its Birmingham operation by moving from the two-decades-old Mailbox site to a new creative quarter in Digbeth.
The move forms part of Director General Tim Davie’s Across the UK plan to better represent the UK’s nations and regions. MasterChef will soon relocate to Digbeth and other local commissions include drama Two Tone from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
The new creative quarter site, which will open in 2026, will be a purpose-built broadcast center that will also house the BBC’s Newsbeat and Asian Network teams.
Davie hailed an “important day for the region.”
“We said we would do more in the Midlands and we’re delivering,” he added. “The new broadcast centre in Digbeth will give our teams the best facilities and technology to serve audiences for decades to come.”

One of the biggest crowdpleasers at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival was “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” a two-hander starring Emma Thompson as a woman who hires a male sex worker in an attempt to have her first orgasm and ends up bonding with the man in the process. The sex-positive dramedy was a big enough hit to be acquired by Searchlight Pictures, which releases the film on Hulu next month.
Emma Thompson had high praise for the script and the character she played. “With all actors, parts come along and they meet you right in the center of yourself,” the actress said. “I hadn’t read anything like it and I never played anyone like that. Even though she’s a very ordinary woman, she’s doing something extraordinary and she’s learning from pushing through her own preconceptions … about what it means to be female, about what it means to be a woman.

Warning: contains spoilers for Peaky Blinders season six episode two ‘Black Shirt’.
Peaky Blinders is known to pay homage to different film genres with every season, from Westerns to Gangster flicks to Hitchcockian and conspiracy thrillers. In ‘Black Shirt’, season six revealed its genre: horror. From the Hammer picture image of lightning cracking over Tommy’s stately home, to Ruby’s scrawled drawings of the devil, and Tommy fighting the imaginary yellow-toothed “Grey Man”, episode two was filled with horror imagery – fitting, for a show about somebody who’s haunted.
Haunted, and cursed. Tommy believes that Ruby’s demonic visions and illness are down to a curse laid upon the Shelby family. At the end of the episode, he places a phone call to his widowed sister-in-law Esme Shelby-Lee, whom he hopes will lift the affliction. Even if Esme can lift the curse and cure Ruby, it’s doubtful whether...

Warning: this Peaky Blinders review contains spoilers.
No wonder he’s having seizures; Tommy’s last deal is next-level complicated. He’s intercepted President Roosevelt’s route to British and Irish fascists to undermine their goal of installing a fascist leader in Britain and ultimately ushering in the ideology of their “friend in Berlin”. To do it, he’s pretending to sell Churchill’s secrets to Jack Nelson in exchange for a spurious opium deal that he’s really doing with Nelson’s Jewish enemies in order to unseat the kingpin from his Boston throne.
If this final strategy comes off, Tommy will have snuffed out fascism, avenged Polly’s murder, made more money than God, and earned his escape. That is, if Michael Gray, a brain tumour or a gypsy curse don’t kill him first. And seeing as Tommy’s adopting a ‘keep your friends close and your...

The highly-anticipated Season 6 premiere of period gangster epic Peaky Blinders was watched by 3.8 million viewers in the UK on Sunday, according to overnight figures. That makes it the biggest launch for the Shelby clan ever, coming in above the Season 5 debut’s 3.7 million overnight average. It also ties the series record previously set by the Season 5 finale in September 2019. The market share was 21.8% on Sunday with a peak of 4.1 million viewers. The episode faced strong competition from the season finale of ITV drama Trigger Point which ended up winning the 9pm slot.
Airing on the UK’s BBC One, ahead of the global Netflix release which is as-yet undated, the first episode of Peaky’s sixth and final season was dedicated to the memory of Helen McCrory who passed away last year after a battle with cancer. The episode also revealed how creator Steven Knight, director Anthony Byrne and the...

In the first episode of 90s-set ITV drama Quiz, a group of men are devising a game show. Provisionally titled Cash Mountain, it involves players doubling their money with each correct answer on their way to the summit. Concerned that the concept’s too old-fashioned, a Birmingham accent comically suggests, “We could set it on an actual mountain. Like, a little one? Wales?”
Cash Mountain didn’t go down the Welsh Outward Bound route but stuck to its questions-and-cash simplicity to become global smash hit Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? That Brummie voice belonged to Steve Knight (played in Quiz by Keir Charles). He was one of the three creators credited with devising the quiz show that was later struck by the “Coughing Major” cheating scandal so brilliantly dramatised in James Graham’s play and TV adaptation.
In the nineties, Knight and his writing partner Mike Whitehill worked at TV production company Celador.

Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy has opened up about filming the final season of the BBC One series (which streams Stateside on Netflix) without Helen McCrory, who died last April at age 52.
It was almost two years ago when Peaky Blinders was set to start filming its farewell run, but the Covid pandemic put a quick, and lengthy, stop to that. By the time the series got the Ok to proceed with production, it became apparent that McCrory — who since Day 1 had played Aunt Polly to Murphy’s Tommy Shelby (and is the wife of actor Damian Lewis) — had been...

If you thought you had a handle on where exactly in history that the Birmingham-set gangster series "Peaky Blinders" would finally call it quits, think again. This comes directly by order of the Peaky Blinders themselves -- or, rather, series creator Steven Knight. The "Locke" and "Spencer" writer has previously made his intentions known for the Cillian Murphy-led crime drama to come to an end upon the outset of World War II.
So far, the series has documented Tommy Shelby's (Murphy) rise to the top of London's violent family of gangs while also balancing his struggles with Ptsd, stemming from his brutal experiences in World...

The lush, visually stunning world of "Peaky Blinders" is set to come to an end in 2022 after six seasons. The show follows the Irish gang known as the Peaky Blinders, led by Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) as they rise and make waves through the underworld of early 20th century Birmingham. For the first two seasons, Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park") played the show's main antagonist, Inspector Campbell, a ruthless detective sent by Winston Churchill himself to clean up the city.

While it might not be as well-known as some of its U.S. counterparts—and one suspects this will change when the whole series is bingeable on Netflix soon— the BBC’s “Peaky Blinders” is immensely popular across the pond and globally. A British period crime drama television series created by writer/director Steven Knight, the series follows the exploits of the Peaky Blinders crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War.

Steven Knight’s period drama “Peaky Blinders” is set to return for a final season, and the BBC has released the first trailer of the gang getting back together.
Cillian Murphy is front and center as seasoned criminal Tommy Shelby, with an extended appearance in the spot from Anya Taylor-Joy, reviving her role as Gina Gray.
Knight spoke with Variety last year about what fans can expect from the sixth season.
“What I’m doing with series six is continuing that struggle Tommy Shelby has in his opposition to fascism,” he said. “What I wanted to do is that when Tommy Shelby came back from WWI, he was emotionally dead. He was switched off because of his experiences and he was a nihilist, amoral and would do anything. A British politician has claimed that casting women in film and TV roles that have traditionally been occupied by men is leaving boys with criminals for role models.
Speaking during a Westminster debate marking International Men’s Day, Conservative Party MP Nick Fletcher linked “female replacements” for roles such as Doctor Who, or the rumoured James Bond casting post-Daniel Craig, has left young men looking up to characters such as Peaky Blinders protagonist Tommy Shelby.
“Is there any wonder we are seeing so many young men committing crime?”, he said in comments that appeared to baffle others involved in the debate.
“There seems to be a call from a tiny, but very vocal, minority that every male character or good role model must have a female replacement,” Fletcher continued. “In recent years we have seen Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Luke Skywalker, The Equaliser, all replaced by women.”

By order of the Peaky Blinders! The popular series that follows the exploits of a small-town group of gangsters with sky-high ambitions in 1900s Birmingham hasn't quite finished telling its story just yet. The sixth and final season is scheduled to arrive on the small screen in Spring of 2022, but the future of the series afterwards had been left in some doubt. Rumors have abounded that a seventh season and/or possibly a feature film would eventually wrap up the story, but now creator Steven Knight has personally confirmed plans for the series to officially conclude with a film set to start filming in 18 months.

Damian Lewis has exited Showtime’s Billions.

After years of staying just one step ahead of the law and a big loss, Axelrod also saw nearly all his considerable fortune gone as he settled down to a handcuffs-free life in Europe.

Pablo Larrain’s Princess Diana film “Spencer,” starring Kristen Stewart, will release Nov. 5 across the U.K. and Ireland, STX Films has revealed.
The release will follow the film’s U.K. premiere at the British Film Institute London Film Festival on Oct. 7.
The film follows the marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, which has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. “Spencer” is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.
The film opened to much acclaim at the Venice Film Festival recently. Reviewing the film for Variety, critic Owen Gleiberman wrote:
“Kristen Stewart doesn’t just do an impersonation (though on the level of impersonation she’s superb). She transforms; she changes her aspect, her rhythm, her karma. Watching her play Diana, we see an echo,...

Here’s a free bit of life advice: If someone offers you money to babysit their disturbed adult niece in the remote County Cork house where her father recently killed himself, don’t take it. Isaac (memorable newcomer Jonathan French) knows there has to be a catch, but paying gigs are few and far between for an institutionalized drifter who suffers from memory loss, and his potential employer Moe (Ben Caplan) claims to be an old friend. It’s worth noting that he doesn’t claim to be a very good one.
As we already suspect — and as Isaac learns the hard way — the title of Irish filmmaker Damian Mc Carthy’s “Caveat” wryly undersells the dangers at hand. The first red flag is the house is located on the middle of its own tiny island in the middle of nowhere. Even more alarming: Isaac reveals that he doesn’t know how to swim.

This story about “Night Stalker” first appeared in the Race Begins issue of TheWrap’s Emmy magazine.
Making a documentary about sadistic serial killer Richard Ramirez, also known as the Night Stalker, was no easy feat for filmmaker Tiller Russell. The director/producer knew he would have to respect the victims’ trauma while showcasing Ramirez’s crimes, which were extremely violent in nature. By anchoring the story in the perspective of Gil Carrillo, one of the detectives who helped solve the case, he was able to carefully craft the Netflix docuseries, “Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer,” set to the tone of Hollywood noir.
“Had I not met Gil or Frank, I would’ve never done the story,” Russell said. “It was their experience of it that anchored me to it. Frank and Gil were this odd couple of detectives who had this journey which you can tell...

Michael Lee Joplin driving through the night in Stalker
The story of Andy (Vincent Van Horn), a newcomer to Los Angeles who finds himself stalked by ride share driver Roger (Michael Lee Joplin), Tyler’s Savage’s Stalker was a popular contribution to last year’s Frightfest line-up, where it screened under the title Blinders.
