Celine Dion, Imagine Dragons and other top performers appeared onstage at the Vegas Strong Benefit Concert on Friday in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, the largest musical event to pay tribute to the victims of the October 1 shooting. From inside a 32nd-floor suite at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, a male gunman fired below into the audience of the Route 91 Harvest Festival, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more before shooting himself dead. It marked the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Dion appeared in a video recorded in October at one of her concerts in Caesars Palace's Colosseum, saying, "We dedicate tonight's show to all the victims and their families and...

The shooter who rained deadly gunfire from a high-rise Las Vegas hotel onto a concert crowd below him on Sunday night had 23 guns in his suite, another 19 at his home, and several pounds of material used to make explosives in his car, authorities revealed Monday night during a press conference.
Even as the number of victims climbed yet again — the revised toll now is 59 dead and 527 injured, in the nation’s deadliest single-gunman mass shooting in modern times — authorities still say they have no sign of a motive that might have driven 64-year-old Stephen Paddock to act before he shot...

Avatar and its sequels may be “the most expensive movies of all time,” but Ryan Gosling knows the simple secret behind the blockbuster’s logo — and it’s tearing him up inside.

Which red carpet is your favorite?
If you said the Academy Awards or MTV Video Music Awards, that's cute, but you're wrong. Your favorite red carpet is the Met Gala, because it's the only red carpet that matters. It's an occasion to see stars wearing ensembles they could never get away with at any other awards show or black-tie event -- for better or worse.
As we prepare for this year's event -- and all the looks inspired by the theme, "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between" -- look back on 20 of the most outrageous fashion choices that could only happen at the Met Gala.

14 looks at cinema’s most provocative auteur.
Is there any contemporary filmmaker more provocative or polarizing than David Lynch? People who love him consider him a genius, and people who don’t consider him a weirdo. His films stubbornly eschew understanding for emotion, rely more heavily upon visual storytelling than that of the more traditional, narrative variety, and actively seek to make the audience uncomfortable as often as possible. Regardless where you stand on his work, you can’t deny Lynch is a capital-a Artist, a jack of all creative trades, and a cultural figure the likes of which we haven’t known since the heyday of Salvador Dali.
As such, that makes Lynch ripe for frequent exploration by video essayists seeking to unearth a little clarity from among his body of work. In my time at One Perfect Shot and Film School Rejects I’ve viewed essays attempting to define his themes and aesthetic, essays...

Every year, celebrities, filmmakers, journalists and movie fans flock to the Tribeca neighborhood in lower Manhattan for the Tribeca Film Festival, an illustrious celebration of film and television that features some of the most exciting projects and panel discussions of any media festival in the country.
Founded by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff in 2001, shortly after the attacks of 9/11, the festival has helped revitalize the city and remind both filmmakers and fans alike of New York City’s valued place in film and TV while becoming a welcoming community for voices and perspectives from all over the world. “It’s also a fabric of our city. So whether or not it’s a film from Israel or Palestine or something for kids, our festival was about community and it still is,” Rosenthal tells Et. “It’s about bringing community together.”

The goal of any movie franchise is to build upon what came before while addressing its audience's expectations. In a film like last year's unconventional (and record-breaking) Deadpool, which kicked the superhero genre squarely in its collective cojones, this poses a real dilemma. Deadpool was successful precisely because it broke with convention and sought to be different; however, the concept of "sequel" generally implies formula.
So how does Deadpool 2's creative team, including actor Ryan Reynolds, new director David Leitch (John Wick), and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick avoid the sequel trap?
The simple answer: play to your strengths! Deadpool was primarily interested in exploring its characters. Sure, every movie is about characters, but unlike most of the recent superhero films, which thrive on plot and spectacle, Deadpool shoved action and narrative aside to more deeply focus upon its characters and their relationships. I think we can all agree,...

Uh-oh. Looks like the beef between actors Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson is real after all.
Several months back, Johnson took to social media to air his grievances regarding a particular co-star while on the set of the Fate of the Furious. Here’s what he had to say last August:
“There's no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. Universal has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling - you're right.

"... you wanna be like your brother."
We open to the back of a truck bed. There is one crate. Members of the Kingdom place one cantaloupe in the crate and make sure the crate is strapped down. The truck bed doors close and the episode shifts to the opening theme and credits in what is probably the quickest intro in Walking Dead history... I'll have to research that and see.
A woman is heard, slightly crying. A match is lit and Carol's face appears in the glow of the flame as she lights her lantern. She sits up in bed, the expression on her face is one of sadness, tears down her cheeks. She lights a cigarette and tries to settle down. As Carol prepares herself and decides to leave her house, Morgan is inside the Kingdom, training Benjamin's little brother with his staff,...

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody shone like the stars they are when they hit up the InStyle and Warner Bros. Golden Globes afterparty in La on Sunday night. Leighton looked absolutely gorgeous in a plunging-neckline dress, while Adam kept things cool in a suit as one of the many men rocking a beard at the event. The notoriously private couple struck a cute pose backstage for photographers, and Leighton even joined Lea Michele, Nina Dobrev, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Derek and Julianne Hough for a fun selfie. While Leighton and Adam have likely been busy taking care of their 1-year-old daughter, Arlo Day, Leighton has also been gearing up for the premiere of Fox's Making History, while Adam has been working on his upcoming movie, Chips. Last year the The Globe & Mail released an article entitled "What is Wrong with the Canadian Film Industry?" that outlined the problems facing our country’s cinema: low box-office numbers, a crisis of English-Canadian identity, an inability to compete with Hollywood entertainments etc., etc. Focused entirely on the industry, the piece fails to mention the resurgence that had been taking root for quite some time. 2015 was an important year for Canadian cinema, but while Room, Hyena Road and Wet Bum ate up the article’s word count, three of the year’s great Canadian films by emerging directors went unnoticed: Isiah Medina’s 88:88, Kurt Walker’s Hit 2 Pass, and Kazik Radwanski’s How Heavy This Hammer. Equating cinema with ‘content,’ a product to be bought and sold, the article is as much a reflection of the problems with Canadian cinema as an exposition of it. But this insidious...

Nxt TakeOver London was thunderous from start to finish, with the local fans roaring with full-throat in appreciation for WWE’s unofficial third brand. Adam Pacitti and I were both in attendance and our vocal chords are now utterly shredded from chanting, singing, cheering and booing. Update: Yesterday, it was revealed that the first six episodes in the Star Wars saga are to be made available to buy digitally for the first time.
The movies will be made available worldwide on the same day - that's the 10th April - along with a clutch of new and old features to accompany each film.
Disappointingly, we'll be getting the later, digitally-modified Star Wars films rather than the original theatrical release.
It's also fair to say that the prices won't please everyone, either; a quick look on Xbox Video reveals that the full set's going for £69.99, while the individual films will set you back £13.99.
In the Us, the prices are $89.99 for the set and $19.99 per episode; if Google's calculator's correct, that makes the American set cheaper than...

Though they’ve been available on a variety of formats in the past as home entertainment has evolved through VHS, DVD and Blu-ray, the first six Star Wars films haven’t hit online download stores. All that will change on Friday worldwide (wherever the outlets are available) when the original and prequel trilogies arrive at the likes of iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Vudu and more. It’s perhaps not surprising that the original films would arrive in good quality digital downloads in the months before Star Wars: The Force Awakens launches in cinemas. The movies will be available as a set or individually and all will come with a pair of new bonus features – Star Wars: Discoveries From Inside (about specific elements of each movie) and Conversations, a Q&A series between key contributors from across the franchise, plus a curated collection of classic Star Wars extras from each film.

Justin Bieber has just found himself in another legal entanglement — this time with an anti-Semitic twist. The “Never Say Never” singer is being sued by his former neighbor and egging victim who claims emotional distress because, among other things, Bieber’s bodyguards allegedly called him a “little Jew boy.” In the suit, Jeffrey Schwartz — who was Bieber’s neighbor in Calabasas, California — say that Bieber and his entourage ran amok in the neighborhood — holding noisy bashes, spitting in Schwartz’s face and cursing at his wife and child. Forget Sunday’s Super Bowl Xlix — the real showdown between Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots stars has already taken place, courtesy of Conan O’Brien, PlayStation 4’s “Mortal Kombat X” and an Arizona-area Courtyard Marriott conference room.
The two NFLers battled to the (extremely gruesome) death on the unreleased violent video game for TBS’s Thursday night “Conan,” and yes, the notoriously camera and media-shy Lynch actually spoke quite freely. As a matter of fact, he was rather charming and funny — when the running back wasn’t brutally murdering his newfound friends, that is.

(For those who thought Snowpiercer wasn't somber enough...) Cee, a young pregnant woman, sits on a giant train which drives through a post-apocalyptic landscape. Nobody knows if the train's destination still exists, or even if there are tracks beyond the horizon, but everybody wants to get away from the blasted and radioactive city it left behind. As her pregnancy evolves, Cee wonders if the baby will be normal, or what future there will be for her anyway... This is the bleak start of John Bergin's animated feature From Inside, and, like the book it's based on, it doesn't exactly lighten up from there. That book was a graphic novel, written and drawn by Bergin himself, which was released in 1991 and won several awards. At...

Emily Kessler, a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor from Ukraine, plays music for herself. From inside her apartment on the Upper West Side, she practices her mandolin and sings folk songs as a means to bring herself joy and remember a time before the war, when she was with her family. “We were singing,” she says of her childhood. “My mother, my father. My mother had a voice that when someone heard [it], they thought the radio was playing.”Kessler is her own humble talent, a soulful voice packed in her petite frame. When she plays for audiences, they’ve typically been adult groups at community centers. But on Monday night, Kessler is slated to make her debut at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, giving a solo performance to coincide with a fund-raising dinner held by the Blue Card, a nonprofit that offers aid to Holocaust survivors. The performance is part of...

At one point during Fury, the World War II drama starring Brad Pitt out Friday, a tank commander's head is blown off while he's hunched outside his vehicle during a fiery battle with a combatant. Fury writer-directorDavid Ayer insists he didn't include the surprise decapitation simply to shock moviegoers.
"That was a very common thing that happened," said Ayer. "There's countless stories of crews being inside tanks and then all of a sudden their commander's headless body drops into the tank and sprays blood everywhere. That was the hazard of being a tank commander, and that's why these guys were so brave."
Unlike many films about World War II, which have painted a patriotic portrait of the six-year conflict, Furyinstead offers an unapologetically gruesome look at one long day of battle in 1945, just weeks before the Nazis' final surrender.

Last year, James put together a comprehensive guide, of every piece of Halloween programming and horror movie that would air during the month of October. When I asked him if we were doing the same again this year, he acted like I was an idiot. Why wouldn’t we? With that knowledge in my head, I decided we would expand a little bit this year, and throw together a comprehensive DVD & Blu-ray buyer’s guide for the months of September and October. There are some really great horror releases between now and the end of October. Some studios wasted their opportunity to rope in the rabid genre fans. Fox, for example, except for a new Wrong Turn film, and a few catalog releases making their Blu-ray debuts(Exorcist sequels), has a calendar filled with nonsensical re-releases of titles that are already widely available, and at cheap prices.

Allison continued to awesomely hallucinate awesome Kate Argent into a variety of terrifying/awesome situations, all of which resulted in Allison getting murdered. Peter and Derek recovered a long lost Hale family artifact after spending a week or so chained up shirtless in a dungeon, getting electrocuted to half-death by a grumpy ol’ gaggle of South American beast hunters. Oooh, mid-season finale! Or as we used to call it in the olden days, the last episode until the next one. Let’s jump right in …
And kick off with a flashback to the VP (Kate Burton) and her closet case husband (Jack Coleman) arguing. It quickly escalates from “you never empty the dishwasher” to “you’re a godless sodomite” to “you knew that when you married me.” But what breaks Sally is when he threatens to go on 60 Minutes, because we all know that exposure to 60 Minutes has led to many, many gruesome homicides.
So Sally reaches for a letter opener on her desk – the stabby kind that only people who plan on murdering someone have on hand – and plunges it into his back several times. Then she calls in Cyrus (Jeff Perry) for clean up duty.
Cyrus spends most of the episode with a serious case of the guilts.
