“The principles of improv have made me more creative, more resilient and more collaborative,” Poehler tells The Hollywood Reporter. “My class is an attempt to show how preparing to be unprepared can add value in how we approach life and relate to other people.”
In the class — dubbed “Prepare to Be Unprepared” — Poehler shares nine principles of improve including “don’t bail on your partners” and “don’t worry about being cool.” It’s split up into 11 parts, and totals just over an hour of content. Forget the NFL or NBA, NBC is betting that the next big thing in streaming might be your local high school football game.
The media giant is launching a new streaming service that’s part ESPN+, part YouTube and part MasterClass, meant to appeal to families, schools and communities with amateur sports teams.
The service, SportsEngine Play, will stream live matches from amateur teams (think high schools, etc.). The company says it has 90 cameras installed in 85 venues; however, coaches or spectators can also stream matches live to the service via their own smartphones or iPads, and NBC Sports is trying to encourage as many schools and coaches as possible to take advantage of the streaming capabilities.
Matches will also be available on-demand.
The service will also launch with complementary content featuring professional athletes, a MasterClass-esque offering with guides for specific sports and general advice for dealing with pressure or mental health,...

“What’s the one thing that your optometrist doesn’t want you to know about?” asks a “human optimization specialist” who goes by the name Samantha Lotus in a recent video on her Instagram account. “The fact that you do not need glasses,” she answers, removing a pair from her own face.
Lotus goes on to explain that it’s “a lie” when eye doctors tell patients they require corrective lenses because, in fact, poor vision is caused by “mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual” factors which can be “healed.

"Judy Blume Forever" directors Davina Pardo and Leah Wolchok didn't predict the current moment in American culture when they started the documentary. Pardo grew up a lifelong Judy Blume fan, she tells Popsugar; she describes herself as a "shy quiet kid" and "early bloomer" who found herself reflected in the pages of Blume's books, especially "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret." Wolchok, however, didn't become a fan until the pair started working on the doc together. She grew up in Jacksonville, Fl, and spent more time outside playing than inside reading.
"Girls bodies were seen as something to be ashamed of," she says of her life growing up. "And women's bodily autonomy was something to be feared, and I internalized all of those pressures from my quaint southern society that I lived in, and I did not read Judy's juicy books."

[This story contains spoilers for the first two episodes of Barry season four.]
Justice just wasn’t enough for Gene Cousineau.
In the season three finale of Barry, Henry Winkler’s character and Jim Moss (Robert Wisdom) had Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) dead to rights for the attempted murder of Moss, as well as his previous murder of Moss’ daughter and Gene’s girlfriend, Janice (Paula Newsome). However, in the two-episode premiere of Barry’s fourth and final season, Gene has potentially put the case in jeopardy by delivering a one-man show to Vanity Fair journalist Lon Oneil (Patrick Fischler) about his entire history with his murderous acting student, something he and Moss explicitly agreed not to do.
Prior to his one-man show, Gene had already made the news for his brave efforts that helped catch Barry, and he went on to receive a hero’s welcome from the live-studio audience during a taping of his show, MasterClass. He even got to gloat...

The past decade has seen a lot of weird cultural trends, but few were harder to predict than the unlikely reemergence of Bob Ross.
The painter, who hosted the instructional art show “The Joy of Painting” on PBS from 1983 until his death in 1994, doesn’t exactly seem like the kind of celebrity who would find an audience in today’s fast-paced world. Each episode of his show featured him leisurely painting a picture while offering words of encouragement to his viewers. It was soothing background noise at the time, but aspiring artists can now find much more efficient videos on YouTube and MasterClass.
Yet the Internet — which in theory should have been the invention that erased Ross’ legacy — ended up being the very thing that made him relevant again. The 2010s were the decade of the Bob Ross vibe shift, with nostalgic memes turning the unapologetically sincere painter into a...

Unwelcome is a horror movie directed by Jon Wright starring Hannah John-Kamen and Douglas Booth.
A mixture of horror and local bright spots that, as it progresses, stops being “scary” to introduce us to “something else” that, although it will not be that surprising, it is quite interesting.
The creatures that appear will be quite familiar to you (whether or not they resemble the Critters is up to you).
Movie Review Unwelcome (2023)
For a B-movie, it has its merits in some places, especially in terms of cinematography. It knows how to maintain its tone of a fable and coherently interconnect the protagonist landscape with the narrative and the personal dramas of each one. The acting is fine, but no one here is exactly going to win an Oscar.

Exclusive: Imagine Entertainment Chairmen Brian Grazer and Ron Howard have launched Imagine Documentaries, a venture to develop and produce feature documentaries and non-scripted television projects. Grazer and Howard have set to Justin Wilkes to run the division, which will be based in New York. It marks Imagine’s first dedicated Gotham outpost.

What Is It? Ava DuVernay has teamed with Oprah for this series about a family reunited by tragedy in Louisiana, and she’s brought with her an entirely female director roster (a first).
I’ll Like It If I Like… Stories set in the South, stories that feature strong female characters and stories that aren’t afraid of taking on big issues head-on.
Why Should I Care? “Queen Sugar” has its flaws, but there’s some rich filmmaking on display and there’s potential for growth with these characters.

So the big Emmys don't air until next Sunday night and at Moviefone we will have, of course, full coverage. But last night the Creative Arts Emmys were handed out, for the people that are largely responsible for making these shows that you absolutely love -- you know, the behind-the-scenes talent tasked with conceptualizing and realizing your favorite programs. No other comedy series was able to build any other momentum going into next week's show, with "The Big Bang Bang Theory," "Nurse Jackie," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" grabbing isolated tech prizes and Jimmy Fallon winning the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for the second time in three years for his "Saturday Night Live" hosting duties. It appears that Chelsea Handler might be leaving "Chelsea Lately" after her contract with E! expires this year, which raises a couple of questions: 1) Did she simply run out of intrusive things to ask Chuy? 2) What's she going to do next? The first answer is unknowable, but the second is clear: probably a lot. I assume a couple of books will be on the immediate horizon, and she's almost certainly courting offers for hosting shows on major networks. But in case she wants to choose a less expected path to continued prominence, we have her covered. Here are our seven suggestions for Chelsea's next move. 1. A smaller, quieter celebrity interview webshow. Chelsea Lately has always been divided into two starkly different halves: the comedian roundtable and the celebrity interview. Though the roundtable is what gives "Lately" a specific brand of irreverence, Chelsea's main gift is tapping into her famous guests...

HBO's sent along the trailer as well as images for John Guare: A YoungArts Masterclass where Tony Award-winning playwright Guare mentors student writers. The HBO special airs on Tuesday, March 4th at 7:30, and returns for a re-air on March 8th, at the same time, on HBO Family. In this all-new YoungArts Masterclass special, three aspiring writers join Oscar-nominated and Tony award-winner, John Guare, for a once-in-a-lifetime workshop in Rome, Italy. His three students receive individual instruction as they each create a short monologues and then join Guare for a constructive critique of their fellow students' efforts. He encourages his students to pursue the "weird vibes," the things that scare them, because a writer shouldn't be a stranger to himself. He urges them to "go into the darkness," noting that the world is already a theater. It’s a writer's job to explore it to the depths and report back.
