It could be argued that rap has unseated rock as the wildest and most glamorous genre for musicians to thrive in. Rappers are often the most vocal about their lavish lifestyles, bragging about excessive wealth and wild parties. Naturally, this can land such artists in trouble with the law. Such was the case with highly popular rapper Fetty Wap, who found himself at odds with the police last Friday. Fetty Wap has emerged as a breakout star thanks to singles like “Trap Queen” and “My Way.” Having only released music for the past several years, his rise to fame and

Hey Big Brother fans. We've got a new report that recently came out for the upcoming Celebrity Big Brother USA edition. This one is actually from one of the wannabe celebrity contestants himself. Perez Hilton of Perezhilton.com recently created a new post titled, "Celebrity Big Brother America!" In the post, he revealed that he wants to definitely compete in the Celebrity Big Brother USA season that's scheduled to start in a few months. In a very cocky or confident manner. Whichever way you want to interpret it. Perez explained why he should definitely be chosen to appear on the show as well as why some other celebrities who have shown interest shouldn't be considered. He called former Nsync boy band member Lance Bass a very nice guy, but too vanilla to be on Big Brother. On the other hand, he said of himself that he's going to "deliver," and...

Off the Cliff: Making of Thelma & Louise by Becky Aikman (Penguin Press)
The career of Ridley Scott is full of peaks and valleys. One of the peaks was the release of Thelma & Louise in 1991. The cultural impact of this story of two female outlaws cannot be overstated, and Becky Aikman’s account of the making of the film helps explain why. Thelma & Louise involved a unique cast of characters, including stars Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis, as well as a young hunk named Brad Pitt. But the most memorable figures here are Scott, who knew his career needed a change but could not originally see...

John Travolta stars in Gotti, for which a new trailer has just been released
“Let me tell you, New York City is the greatest city in the world. I was a kid in these streets and I made it the top,” John Travolta says as John Gotti in the trailer for the upcoming biopic Gotti. If anyone could claim “My Way” as a theme song it was the Dapper Don of the Gambino Crime Family.
Gotti “made his bones doing a piece of work for Don Carlo Gambino,” the trailer tells us. From that day on, the Teflon Don was a man on the rise. Gotti has a similar look to Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. The film will tell Gotti’s story over three decades, but will largely focus on the years after he was made boss by killing the top guy and then assuming his place.

Queen Latifah reached into her musical bag of tricks on Tuesday, and pulled out a few winning impressions.
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress and singer played a game where she was challenged to impersonate as many music icons as possible in 60 seconds – in honor of the upcoming second season of her Fox series, Star.
Latifah started with a short rendition of “Umbrella,” prompting DeGeneres to correctly guess Rihanna. Next came Michael Jackson, followed by Cher.
When it came time to impersonate Tina Turner, Beyoncé and Madonna, Latifah employed dance moves – which earned her more correct guesses from DeGeneres.

“Now listen up, Mr. Pink. There’s two ways we can do this job. My way… or the highway!”
Reservoir Dogs will screen at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium Saturday September 16th at 7:30pm
Quentin Tarantino’s feature-length directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs (1992) depicts the events before and after a botched diamond heist. The film features Harvey Keitel (Mr. White), Michael Madsen (Mr. Blonde), Steve Buscemi (Mr. Pink), Chris Penn (Nice Guy Eddie Cabot), Lawrence Tierney (Joe Cabot), Tim Roth (Mr. Orange), and Tarantino (Mr. Brown). Tarantino displays many themes that have become his style and influenced a generation of filmmakers: choreographed violent crime, pop culture references, nonlinear storytelling, dialogue punctuated with profanity.
Somewhere along the way, opinions on Quentin Tarantino have become divided – some still loving his work, others calling it bloated and unnecessarily inflated. However, those are two criticisms that cannot be levelled at his first film. It...

This year the Venice Film Festival is hosting a separate competition section dedicated to Vr cinema – a first worldwide. Among the projects shortlisted, one name probably jumped out more than the others: Taiwan-based filmmaker and celebrated master of slow cinema Tsai Ming-liang.
Not necessarily the filmmaker one associates with pushing technological boundaries and crafting effects-enhanced spectacles, Tsai gave us the typically quiet, artfully designed The Deserted (at 56 minutes by far the longest-running title in the section).
After we last checked in with Mr. Tsai two years ago in Venice, we had the pleasure of sitting down with him again to talk about Vr filmmaking, control and what kind of movies he likes to watch.

Exclusive: 13 Reasons Why leads chart of in-demand shows.
Netflix accounted for nine out of the 10 most in-demand digital original shows in South Korea over the period June 16-July 15, a Parrot Analytics study has revealed.
According to the Los Angeles-based data science firm’s Demand Expressions metric that gauges total audience demand for a show within a particular country, 13 Reasons Why was the most popular show that originated exclusively online.
The mystery series scored 447,624 Demand Expressions, which reflect the online desire, engagement and consumption of content. The score is weighted by importance so that a stream or download represents a higher expression of demand than a ‘like’ or a comment.
Some way behind in second place was Stranger Things with 299,407 Demand Expressions, followed by Black Mirror on 293,004, Glow on 285,616, and Marvel’s Iron Fist on 256,663.
Amazon Studios’ The Grand Tour – the only non-Netflix show in the top 10 – ranked eighth on 228,794.

In a TV world that often asks for creators and series to make sacrifices to get on the air, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has always felt like a show that fights to keep its best parts intact. What other serialized TV show could squeeze in a shanty about alcoholism, a riff on “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” an elaborate tap duet, a forlorn Disney princess ballad and a relationship exit interview version of “My Way,” all in the span of three episodes?
It’s a specific brand of energy that powers this CW gem, one that persisted all the way through to a fateful, seismic season finale written and directed by the show’s co-creator, Aline Brosh McKenna. As she explained in a recent interview, one of the season’s best moments almost didn’t happen.
“We didn’t have a song in there for a very long time and it was going to be a more straight-up, dramatic episode for us,” McKenna said.
Still wanting to find a place for another comedy song, the answer came in a surprise revelation from the show’s star — and other co-creator — Rachel Bloom.
Read More: 10 TV Shows Emmy Voters Need to Watch Before They Fill Out Their Ballots
“We were all in the writers room, working on a rewrite and Rachel kind of busted into the door and said, ‘Oh I know how to do this! We should do death metal,'” McKenna said.
Yes, in the middle of a momentous episode where its main character, Rebecca Bunch, is on the precipice of her dream wedding, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” delivered the Rammstein-adjacent headbanger “What a Rush to Be a Bride.”
For McKenna, the best part is that this wasn’t simply a tossed-in gag meant to be funny simply because it was contradictory. The choice came from a place of odd truth. “What I love about it is that there is something about being a bride which is really aggro and hostile and ‘Fuck you, give me my stuff!’ and ‘Watch me wear this dress!’ And I think that, by finding that genre, [Rachel] really pulled out this hilarious hostility of being a bride and how controlling that is,” McKenna said.
It’s also indicative of the kind of jokes that McKenna wanted for a finale that could survive on its own merit and not merely the goodwill it had built up from fans over its sophomore season. That approach meant that Rebecca’s wedding morning song (“It’s magic hour lighting, which doesn’t make a heaping amount of sense, but who cares? It’s gorgeous,” McKenna explained) having two season’s worth of reprises built in proved to be a tricky balance.
“My goal always with the show was not to ever do a joke or a reprise that you can only enjoy if you were a fan of the show. Rachel and I talked about it a lot and what I came to realize is that it was an acting piece for her. She performed it like a dramatic monologue, without any sense of musical comedy cutesiness. She really, I thought, brought it to life in this way that was very real and emotional where you really saw her struggle and you really feel her pain,” McKenna said.
That ability to bring real emotion and consequences into this semi-heightened world is a running theme of the series. Even though Rebecca has gone through multiple iterations of being the show’s title character, she’s brought just as much out of her fellow West Covinians.
“Her presence in town has caused everyone to change their life and has had a profound effect on everyone’s approach,” McKenna said. “Darryl realizing he was bisexual, Valencia finding a new job, Josh breaking up with Valencia, Greg leaving town, all those things would not have happened had Rebecca Bunch not shown up. That’s kind of a running theme in the show, that she’s inadvertently helping people transcend in their own life as she’s struggling to transcend herself.”
Even though these past two seasons have been a special roller-coaster for Rebecca, McKenna is adamant that she and the show’s writers still want the best for the character. They don’t want to give her an unrealistic shortcut to happiness, but he understands what it’s like to want to see a protagonist escape a cycle of unfortunate events.

“She’s struggling and I think you always know and sense that she’s trying really hard and she means well and doesn’t want to hurt anybody, even when she’s doing terrible things. Fans care about her and so I completely understand where that comes from. I know myself as a viewer, the shows that I binge, that sometimes I’m feeling like on ‘The Americans,’ Phillip seems really bummed out and I’d like for him to be happy. I get that,” McKenna said.
Now that the show is prepping for Season 3, that means figuring out how to utilize the show’s impressive ensemble after the finale’s reshuffling. While juggling the fate of all of these beloved characters is a tall task, sometimes it’s the show’s tracklist that can inspire the biggest personal reaction.
“There’s always people that we’d love to get in the show more and song genres that we love, but because the seasons are so different, there’s usually not a ton of carry-over. Except I was insisting that we were going to do ‘Heavy Boobs,’ no matter if it had anything to do with the story or something or nothing. It just was going to be done,” McKenna said.
Does that mean that McKenna gets certain songs stuck in her heads, just like fans do? Of course.
“I’ve literally had things where I’ve had to have a glass of wine before bed because the songs will get wedged in my brain from working on them,” McKenna said. “And then I can’t function because I’m walking around singing, ‘They’re probably straightforward niiiipples…‘ to myself, which is not good for anybody. That’s not what anybody wants. Nobody wants to be around someone who’s singing that. No one. It’s a little bit of an occupational hazard.”

In an early run of episodes that had the catchiest date prep, fatherly appreciation, and friendship celebration songs imaginable, memories of one particular Season 1 entry still linger, over a year later.
“You know what was the worst for me? Like, I almost had to go to the hospital? The ‘Dream Ghost’ song from Season 1,” McKenna said. “‘We pay out of pocket for cleeeeeanings!‘ Oh my God. I literally walked around, saying to people, ‘We pay out of pocket for cleanings’ for no reason. It was terrible. If we’ve done that to other people, I apologize.”

Here’s a movie mash-up you never knew you wanted – the Justice League trailer redone in the style of Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
The first teaser for the upcoming spy movie sequel got fans of Matthew Vaughn’s 2014 surprise smash-hit pumped, with its fast-paced editing, tongue-in-cheek tone and use of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” on the soundtrack. But would that technique work as well if applied to another movie? Apparently, the answer is yes.
The song and editing style actually works really well when paired with footage from the Justice League trailer, as it showcases the ensemble cast and the action-packed spectacle of the blockbuster. With the blend of a classic tune and washed-out superhero action, fans might even get flashbacks to Zack Snyder’s Watchmen.
Admittedly, the two films might sound like an unusual pair to mix together at first glance, but they do actually have something in common.

After a couple of teasers that tried to cram a lot of sequel action, Channing Tatum, and Halle Berry into less than half a minute, 20th Century Fox has released a full trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. And oh dear, but things are looking rather grim for Eggsy (Taron Egerton)—the Kingsman headquarters and haberdashery/weapons depot have been destroyed, leaving his future somewhat uncertain. Beyond that setup and a not-so-surprising appearance from Colin Firth’s original Galahad, it’s hard to make out the rest of the events unfolding to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” But we do see that several Statesman members are present and accounted for, including Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, and Pedro Pascal. And, most important, Julianne Moore presides over the chaos as the head of The Golden Circle.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be signing up new recruits in theaters beginning September 22.

Matthew Vaughn’s over the top James bond send-up, Kingsman: The Secret Service, had many people champing at the bit for a sequel once the end credits rolled, and we now have our first glimpse at the highly anticipated follow-up, The Golden Circle, and this teaser trailer does a great job of setting up the upcoming sequel. Set to Frank Sinatra’s My Way, it gets some very light set-up out of the way with the destruction of the Kingsman, and then it’s on to some really impressive action shots (Pedro Pascal spinning a revolver upside down on his palm being the standout) to give us a taste of what is in store. Oh yeah, and they play their hand incredibly early and give us a brief look at Colin Firth as Harry Hart, back from the grave. I’m totally in for whatever Kingsman: The Golden Circle throws at us.

Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro Could Team Up for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’
One would have a difficult time disputing the notion that Martin Scorsese’s two most notable onscreen collaborators are Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio. The three of them have made any number of classics together — “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull,” “Goodfellas,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Departed,” “The Wolf of Wall Street” — but, to date, the two leading men have never worked with ol’ Marty on the same picture together. (They did come close once, though.) Deadline reports that that could soon change with an adaptation of David Grann’s “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.”

If we’re going to use it as an insult, let’s define our terms.
The film industry seems to have no shortage of words that either serve as synonyms or subsets of “adaptation,” most of which are brought to you by the letter “R”: reboot, reimagining, rendition, redo, revival, retelling, recreation, reanimation (and looking to the other 25 letters in the alphabet, version, homage, makeover, update). One, however, is not treated quite like the others, and that word is “remake.” When filmmakers bring it up by choice, it usually seems to be to explain why their films should not be thought of by that term, thank you very much.
Perhaps you know exactly what I’m talking about. Or perhaps you think I’m reading far too much into things. After going through over 500 pages of research on remakes and adaptations, I myself thought the latter just as possible as the former.

What does a French billionaire want with James Franco?
The sun sets over these last and barren weeks of madness we call March. What remains of snowfall turns into slosh as students blink slowly into sobriety. “Spring Break, Spring Break, Spring Break forever,” an icy voice chants. But good news: that creepy voice just might have its demands met. A mysterious streaming platform called Blackpills has, per Deadline, now committed to distributing a scripted micro-episodic series based on Harmony Korine’s 2012 hyper-stylized meditation of life, love and spring break that starred James Franco, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens.
The production company behind Spring Breakers, Fernando Sulichin and Chris Hanley’s Muse Productions (Buffalo ’66, Virgin Suicides), are more than thrilled. Hanley excitedly tells Deadline that the proposed micro-episode format is “the future of digital media.” Korine, on the other hand, has asserted his lack of interest in the project: busy, as he is, in...

Its something of a pleasant paradox that the actor who has played physically stunning roles like Dhoom 2 and Krissh is also perhaps the only mainstream Bollywood actor to have successfully essayed differently abled characters in Koi Mil Gaya, Guzaarish and recently released Kaabil.
