In Roel Reiné's fantasy action flick Dead In Tombstone (2013), a gang overruns a small mining town and murders their own leader Guerrero (Danny Trejo) in a cold-blooded power grab. Sentenced to eternity in Hell he finds himself confronted by Satan himself (Mickey Rourke), offering a daring proposition: deliver the six souls of his former gang and he will escape damnation.... Throughout his career, Danny Trejo's played a wide range of intimidating characters that steal scenes with their powerful presences, and his upcoming role as The Regulator in Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series looks to be no exception.
Press Release -- "El Rey Network and Miramax released a first-look image of "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" featuring Danny Trejo (Machete, Machete Kills) in his new role as"The Regulator," a horrifying agent of evil who is summoned to perform a deadly errand. Trejo appeared in the "From Dusk Till Dawn" film franchise as "Razor Charlie." Currently in production on its sophomore season, "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" is slated to return late Summer 2015.

Given his relationship with Robert Rodriguez, it may be more surprising that he didn't appear in the first season. However, it has been officially announced that Danny Trejo will be appearing in Season 2 of From Dusk Till Dawn as a new villain known as The Regulator:
"Austin, TX- March 11, 2015 -- El Rey Network and Miramax announced today that Danny Trejo (Machete, Machete Kills) has joined the sophomore season of Robert Rodriguez's "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series." Trejo has been cast in the roll of "The Regulator," a horrifying agent of evil who has been summoned to perform a deadly errand. As of late Trejo has been spotted in a myriad of genre films. From Dead in Tombstone to Voodoo Possession and everywhere in between Trejo has probably had a hand in it. One of his newest films Volcano Zombies is in the process of wrapping finalizing postproduction and were seeing a new promotional trailer as a result. And to be quite frank the flick as preposterous as it is looks like a fine example of a so bad its good movie. I havent been this excited about a terrible production since Sharknado and Axe Giant... the latter of which just so happens to have been made by the same people in charge of Volcano Zombies (no joke it looks like the cabin scene and a few different outdoor shots were filmed in the same exact location).

Remember when Danny Trejo wasn’t a lead actor and instead played smaller menacing rolls as a hitman or generic tough guy? I hate to say it, but Danny Trejo was starring in much better films when that was the case. His recent surge as Machete and its sequel (which weren’t particularly good but rather hilarious in their horribleness) has shown that Trejo is better in small amounts where his inability to really act isn’t exposed for 90-minutes at a time. And the recent western action film Dead in Tombstone just reiterates how true that is. It doesn’t help that the film is horribly written and the action is uninspired, but Trejo really doesn’t help things at all.

It's tough to approach a low-budget, made-for-dvd horror/western mash-up called Dead in Tombstone with any degree of seriousness these days (anyone seen GallowWalkers?!?) but when the b-movie at hand stars Danny Trejo as a gunslinger brought back from the dead to wreak vengeance on Anthony Michael Hall (with a little help from Dina Meyer), it's only fair to give the flick a fair shake.
Also Mickey Rourke plays Lucifer. That's probably worth mentioning. The visually amusing but narratively arid Dead in Tombstone comes from the folks at Universal Home Video and director Roel Reine, who have taken some time off from sequels to 12 Rounds, Death Race, and The Scorpion King to grace the DVD shelves with an original offering. But therein lies the problem: very little about Dead in Tombstone is very original. By this point Mr. Reine is rather accomplished at getting nice shots, tight edits, and some...

It's either an indictment of our current crop of action stars (or a reaction to them), but even pushing 70, Danny Trejo is still the go-to bad-ass in Hollywood. Ever since a chance encounter on a movie set landed him his first role, the unlikely leading man has been working steadily (his credits list 15 movies coming out in 2013 alone). And right on the heels of "Machete Kills," the equally unlikely fake-trailer-turned-franchise, the tattooed tough guy also has "Dead in Tombstone" coming out this week on DVD and on demand.
In the supernatural Western, Trejo stars alongside Mickey Rourke, Anthony Michael Hall and Dina Meyer (yes, of "Starship Troopers" fame), where he plays -- what else? -- a ruthless anti-hero brought back from Hell to avenge his death, and rack up some fresh souls for the Devil (Rourke) in the process.

Moviefone's Top DVD of the Week:
"The Conjuring"
What's It About? James Wan's "The Conjuring" follows the paranormal hauntings of a Rhode Island farmhouse, based on the real life events documented by investigators of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga). When the Perron family moves into a new home they begin experiencing loud pounding noises and eerie occurrences that force them to contact the Warren's to help rid them of their home's evil essence.
Why We're In: "The Conjuring" wasn't just one of the best scary movies in years for its hefty amount of solid jumps and scares, but it also took full advantage of the horror genre. Wan's film paid homage to old-school scary movies by implementing the horror tactics we love, bringing a refreshing creativity to exhausted cliches.

Danny Trejo is 69 years old and still kicking ass – much more ass than he should be. It’d be one thing if his only leading role this year was Machete Kills, but Trejo has a whole list of titles he’ll be appearing in this year alone, with his most recent action adventure being Dead In Tombstone. Directed by Roel Reiné (Death Race 2/Death Race: Inferno), Trejo brings hell to Earth in this undead Western thriller, making a deal with the Devil, played by none other than Mickey Rourke. If Guerrero (Trejo) can deliver the souls of the six men who double-crossed him, he’ll save his own hell-cursed afterlife – assuming he can trust the Devil.
When you watch a straight-to-dvd/Blu-Ray Danny Trejo film, there are certain expectations and assumptions, but Dead In Tombstone is on the higher end of this scale. Personally, I love Westerns, and I love horror influenced thrillers,...

Before Midnight I haven't watched this yet, primarily because I want to sit down and watch all three -- Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight -- right in a row and I just haven't found the time. However, the best thing about this release is that we finally get special features. Until now, the only special feature on any of the previous Before films was a trailer, now we get a commentary track with Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, a "Revisiting Jesse and Celine" featurette and a Q&A with the trio. Now, if you don't own the two previous films, but are preferring to wait until they too come available on Blu-ray, the best option is probably to buy the Before Sunrise / Before Sunset double feature at Amazon, which costs only $10.78. Not a lot of money to make sure you at least have both on hand whenever you need them.

Danny Trejo is back as the Mexican one-man killing machine in "Machete Kills," which opens Friday. The sequel ramps up the action with several James Bond-style stunts and two formidable foes: a crazed former cartel leader (Demian Bichir), who's got a mountain-top lair, and a power-mad supervillain scientist (Mel Gibson), who'd be at home in any 007 film.
If all goes well, Trejo and director Robert Rodriguez will be back with "Machete Kills Again... In Space," the third film that's teased at the beginning of "Machete Kills." We sat down with the film's star to discuss why Machete don't text, his love of "The Road Warrior," and why a Rodriguez set isn't like any other in Hollywood.
Moviefone: You're the Mexican James Bond!
Trejo: [Laughs] The film, if you look at it, has a lot of James Bond references. It's got "Star Wars "references and Mel's character in "Road Warrior." I love it.

When you interview Danny Trejo, it’s almost impossible to stay on the topic of just one film because of the actor’s constant drive and always growing filmography. If we’re to believe IMDb.com, Danny is currently slated to appear in 21 movies between 2013-2014, and that’s only what we know of. While talking to Danny, he mentioned at least one more film that wasn’t listed, so who knows how many times we’ll be seeing Mr. Trejo in the coming years. Most recently you can catch him in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel Machete Kills, but I was there to talk about another project Danny is particularly excited about, and that’s the revenge Western Dead In Tombstone.
There’s an aura of badassery that Danny has become known for, playing rough-and-tumble characters like Machete, and he’s become somewhat of an action mainstay, but his...

If you’re a hardcore From Dusk Till Dawn fan like me, you’ll know Danny Trejo’s bartender character appeared not only in Robert Rodriguez’s original film, but also the two direct to video sequels: Texas Blood Money and The Hangman’s Daughter. While that means that you unfortunately know about the two inferior sequels, this also means you were probably wondering if he’d appear in the newly announced television show for the El Rey Network.
Having the opportunity to talk to Danny about his upcoming film Dead In Tombstone, I asked the quintessential badass if he’d been approached for a role in the television series. Considering his long standing relationship with writer/director Robert Rodriguez, I probably didn’t even need to ask, but for confirmation’s sake, here was Trejo’s response:
Absolutely! They can’t do that without me! I’m the bartender!

No one does action in film like Netherland's director Roel Reiné (Death Race 2). Reiné continues in the action genre with Dead in Tombstone. But, the sci-fi of Death Race 2 has been lost, in favour of the western. Danny Trejo centrally stars in this release as a cowboy wrangler, looking to avenge his own death. Mickey Rourke, Anthony Michael Hall (Dead Zone) and Dina Meyer (Saw) also star. And now, a behind the scenes clip has been released for Dead in Tombstone. The clip, titled "Big Explosions," shows actor Danny Trejo as Guerrero Hernandez. Guerrero is the man seeking revenge. The clip shows several stunt doubles preparing for a fiery explosion, in an Old Western town. Fans of pyrotechnics can view the clip below. Dead in Tombstone will release in October of 2013, through various formats. Release details for Blu-Ray are also available below. Release Date: October 8th, 2013 (Video-on-demand), October 22nd (DVD,...

When Danny Trejo is not camping it up as the meanest, bloodiest Mexican to ever walk the earth in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete” movies, he’s the hardest working man in B-action movies. One of his upcoming titles is the horror/Western “Dead in Tombstone”, which finds Trejo playing a dead man who is resurrected by Satan to kill a bunch of bad dudes lead by Anthony Michael Hall. Then Dina Meyer (of “Starship Troopers” fame) gets involved. Don’t ask me in what capacity, because she’s really not in the trailer for very long. Roel Reiné, current reigning king of the direct-to-dvd sequels (“12 Rounds”, “The Marine”, and “Death Race”) directs with some unexpected flair. Danny Trejo (Machete), Anthony Michael Hall (The Dark Knight) and Oscar® nominee Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler) star in this fiery, action-packed battle for vengeance. As a ruthless gang overruns a small mining town, they murder their own leader,...

Mickey Rourke once tangled with the Devil in Angel Heart. This year, however, he’s getting the chance to be Satan in Roel Reine’s new Grindhouse flavoured action adventure Dead In Tombstone, which sees Rourke appearing alongside Danny Trejo and Anthony Michael Hall.Tombstone finds Trejo as Guerrero Hernandez, the leader of the fearsome Blackwater* gang of outlaws. He hatches a plan to break his half brother Red (Hall) out of the slammer and takes him along on a looting spree in the mining town of Edendale. Trouble is, Red double- crosses him and Guerrero ends up dead. But a little thing like mortality rarely stops a Danny Trejo character and, after doing a deal with the devil (Rourke), he rises from the dead a year later and unleashes bloody revenge across the town of Tombstone. Thank goodness he picked that place and not Rainbowville or Happy Town…Reine,...
