Thanks to the blockbuster adaptation of Game of Thrones followed by the prequel House of the Dragon, prolific author George R.R. Martin attained cult status in Hollywood. The writer who was also involved in the production of the show, transported global audiences to his fascinating fantasy world of medieval feuds and politics that was aptly brought to life by showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss.

Now, fans of the series have a treat in store as Martin’s The Hedge Knight will be made into a series. The Game Of Thrones spin-off has cast former rugby player Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall. While the athlete’s towering personality is still not a match for the extreme height the character requires, Martin assured fans that he will be made to look exactly like how he was envisioned.

This article contains spoilers for 3 Body Problem episode 2 “Red Coast.”
The early episodes of Netflix sci-fi epic 3 Body Problem are fraught with mystery. Why is science suddenly “broken?” What does the countdown mean? How does the Chinese Cultural Revolution factor in to all of this? All of those enigmas are best represented by one spooky lady in particular: Tatiana Haas (Marlo Kelly).
At this point, viewers have already met the smiling woman who prepped Auggie (Eiza González) for the universe to “wink” at her in episode 1. But Tatiana’s identity, allegiance, and motivations remain a mystery. That mystery is largely solved in episode 2 “Red Coast” thanks to a disquieting scene involving Clarence “Da” Shi (Benedict Wong), a cemetery, and a gravestone that reads “Edith Marsh.” It all amounts to one of 3 Body Problem‘s best Easter eggs and a helpfully quick characterization of one of its most important villains.

HBO’s Game of Thrones universe is expanding once again. Following the success of ‘House of the Dragon,’ a new spinoff titled ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ is gearing up to start filming in 2024. This news comes straight from HBO’s Casey Bloys. While it was initially expected to begin production earlier, the team is still working on casting and writing.
The new series dives into George R. R. Martin’s ‘Tales of Dunk and Egg‘, set about a century before the events of Game of Thrones. It will explore the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. The show plans to adapt the three novellas: ‘The Hedge Knight’, ‘The Sworn Sword’, and ‘The Mystery Knight’. HBO’s Francesca Orsi mentioned that the show’s lack of dragons means quicker production, thanks to fewer visual effects.

The strikes from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA have had a substantial effect on the schedules for movie and TV projects. As studios clutch their extra small percentages and fawn over AI technology, the drawn-out strikes have delayed a number of shows’ upcoming seasons. George R.R. Martin stated to his fans that his contract with HBO has been suspended, and now it is being revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that season 2 of his spin-off from the popular Game of Thrones series, House of the Dragon, will be premiering some time early in the summer of next year.
HBO chief Casey Bloys made the announcement in a press event early on Thursday. Bloys explained that the show has indeed wrapped filming on its second season, and it is currently in post-production. Also, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “The executive also revealed its next Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,...

We now know when House of the Dragon will return — along with several other popular HBO titles.
The second season of the acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel will air in “early summer” of 2024. Season two will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than the first. Dragon is well enough along to have a first trailer, which was screened for reporters — but under the condition that its contents are not publicly described.
The announcement was made by HBO chief Casey Bloys during a press event in New York on Thursday. Bloys said the season has wrapped filming and is currently in postproduction.
In addition, Bloys revealed that Euphoria season three, The White Lotus season three and HBO’s prequel series to Stephen King’s novel It (Welcome to Derry) have all been pushed to 2025.

"Barbie" made an undeniable impact on the world at large when it premiered in July. The film comes complete with a stacked cast and plenty of amazing fashion choices, but it's also notable because it's packed with Easter eggs that reference everything from cultural touchstones to hidden histories.
From the moment its first trailer dropped, the film immediately gave the internet a number of instantly iconic moments to admire, from Barbie (Margot Robbie)'s "Matrix"-esque choice between a high heel and a Birkenstock to Ken (Ryan Gosling)'s exuberant mug shot. The movie also features some less noticeable Easter eggs that show just how much its creative team - which includes the celebrated filmmaking duo Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach - paid attention to detail. Ahead, check out some of the most notable Easter eggs in the film.

John Waters looks positive giddy as he perches on the edge of his chair at the Provincetown Film Festival, chuckling as he recalls the bad reviews Variety gave him back in the day.
I recall one from the 1974 write-up for “Female Trouble” — “‘Camp’ is too elegant a word to describe it all” — and he rolls his eyes at the word “camp.” “No one says that word anymore,” he laughs. “To me, ‘camp’ is like two older gay gentlemen talking about Tiffany lampshades in an antique shop. We were never that. We used ‘trash’ or ‘filth,’ which was more punk, to describe our style.”
Trade reviews offered a strange sort of validation for the budding “smut-eur,” who would take the put-downs and twist them to his advantage back in the early ’70s, turning bad blurbs into good publicity for his gonzo stunts. When Fine Line rereleased Waters’ most notorious film, 1972’s “Pink Flamingos,...

“Barbie” director Greta Gerwig loved playing with Barbies growing up, so when the time came to bring the world’s most famous doll to the big screen, she was well-versed in Barbie lore and infused the Margot Robbie movie with tons of pink plastic (and fantastic) details.
“There must be thousands of B’s everywhere because they also have like designs in the carpet,” Gerwig told Variety on the pink carpet at the world premiere in Los Angeles. Asked which “Hidden B” Easter Egg is her favorite, Gerwig played coy. “I can’t tell it. But I know it,” she teased.
So, with that in mind, Variety scrubbed through the footage to find all the hidden details in Gerwig’s “Barbie” world.
First, there are the references to other Barbie movies. For instance, there’s a Pegasus statue carved into a rock on Barbieland’s beach, which evokes the 2005 film “The Magic of Pegasus,...

This post contains spoilers for "Ted Lasso" season 3.
"Ted Lasso" season 3 has just come to an end, leaving the fictional team of AFC Richmond at a crossroads after their head coach leaves his fish-and-chips-out-of-water life in London behind. Overall, the supposedly last season of the Apple TV+ phenomenon left a lot to be desired, failing to live up to the high points of the first two seasons where the jokes that hit far outweighed the ones that fell flat. While a lot of the episodes in season 3 felt overly long and unnecessarily melodramatic, the overall spirit of the show managed to stay intact thanks to Jason Sudeikis' naively positive "aw shucks" attitude as Ted.
Ted isn't only a sports fan, he's a pop culture aficionado raised on Thursday night primetime sitcoms from the '80s. Throughout its entire run, "Ted Lasso" has peppered in a number of clever references to the golden years of U.

Catching the killer wasn't the point of "True Detective" season 1. In fact, even when the killer was caught, that was far from the end of the story. Fans of that first season may still be haunted by Marty Hart's (Woody Harrelson) acknowledgment in the final episode, "We ain't gonna get them all. That ain't the kind of world it is." "Them," in this context, refers to a group of influential Louisianians who had been committing horrific crimes against women and children for decades. And the fact that most of them remained at large was perhaps the most disturbing part of the whole season.
In the eighth and final episode of "True Detective" season 1, Marty and his detective partner Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) find and kill Errol Childress (Glenn Fleshler). Childress was the son of William Lee Childress, who in turn was the illegitimate son of Sam Tuttle, patriarch of...

The third season of "Star Trek: Picard" was full of Easter eggs and good old-fashioned nostalgia, but it turns out that one Easter egg might actually be a hint at things to come.
In season 3, episode 6 of "Picard" (which is titled "The Bounty"), Worf (Michael Dorn), Raffi (Michelle Hurd), and Riker (Jonathan Frakes) break into Daystrom Institute's underground warehouse to try and retrieve what remains of Data (Brent Spiner). While they're there, they see a few interesting items taken by Starfleet Intelligence, including an attack tribble and the body of one James Tiberius Kirk. We don't actually get to see Kirk, of course, just his X-ray and some basic information about him. Still, it's pretty wild to know that Starfleet went and got his body off of Veridian III (where we last saw him at the end of "Star Trek Generations").
The role of Kirk was, of course, originally played...

George R.R. Martin confirmed that the writers room has shut down for the recently announced Game of Thrones series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.
In a blog post Sunday, Martin noted the greenlit series has paused due to the writers strike, which got underway last week.
“The writer’s room on A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has closed for the duration,” he wrote. “[Showrunner] Ira Parker and his incredible staff of young talents are on the picket lines.” Martin is also credited as a writer on the show.
Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is still forging ahead, however, as its season two scripts are written.
“Dragon started filming April 11 and will continue in London and Wales,” he wrote. “The scripts for the eight s2 episodes were all finished months ago, long before the strike began. Every episode has gone through four or...

Last week brought a slew of news as Warner Bros confirmed plans to turn HBO Max into, simply, Max – announcing a whole raft of new projects’s writings on the fantasy world. Now, Martin has updated on the project in a blog post, getting into what the approach for the series will be.
Writing online, Martin confirmed that the first season of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms will focus solely on ‘The Hedge Knight’ novella, likely consisting of six episodes – and that future seasons would look to adapt fellow ‘Dunk & Egg’ stories ‘The Sworn Sword’ and ‘The Mystery Knight’. All three of those individually-published stories have been collected in a book titled A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. “The pilot script is already written, and I think it’s terrific,” writes Martin. “It was written by Ira Parker, who is no stranger to Westeros. Aneesh Chaganty's "Searching," was a truly inventive thriller, depicting a father's search for his missing daughter as played out entirely in the digital space. In the 2018 film, John Cho's David Kim doggedly tracks down his missing daughter Margot (Michelle La) in an intense scramble across websites, phone videos, security cameras, and virtual desktops. The Chaganty-helmed project was a minor hit, and a messier but just as thrilling anthology sequel, "Missing," arrived earlier this year.
Directed by "Searching" editors Will Merrick and Nick Johnson, "Missing," carries on the central conceit of someone desperately looking for a lost relative via digital means. In the film, Storm Reid's June searches for her missing mother (Nia Long) who disappears on a trip to Colombia. And just as some viewers noticed a whole alien invasion narrative playing out as an easter egg in "Searching," "Missing" appears to be telling a whole superhero origin story in secret.

Jordan Peele’s fourth directorial film has landed a very festive 2024 release date.
The renowned director’s forthcoming movie follows his latest 2022 sci-fi thriller Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer and Brandon Perea.
On Monday (20 March), Universal Pictures, the company behind Peele’s previous three movies, announced an “untitled fourth film directed by Jordan Peele” would premiere in US cinemas on 25 December 2024.
In typical Peele fashion – he tends to keep his projects tightly under wraps – no other information has been revealed about the movie.
Throughout the production of both Us (2019) and Nope (2022), Peele managed to keep both films’ plot details a secret.
This will mark Peele’s first movie to release during the holiday season – a busy time for cinema, as it’s often the premiere month for many Oscar hopefuls.
Other titles set to release that month include James Cameron’s epic sequel Avatar 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3,...

Bella Ramsey has admitted that she is still getting used to being recognised, with some public encounters being less than ideal.
The actor, who previously played Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, stars in the HBO hit series The Last of Us.
The dystopian thriller series concluded its first season on Sunday (12 March) and has been met with universal acclaim since its debut in January.
As a result, Ramsey’s profile is bigger than ever.
During an appearance on the forthcoming episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, host Ross asked the actor whether she gets recognised by fans in public.

Ben Affleck has opened up about his “worst experience” in film, which almost made him quit Hollywood.
The actor-director, whose new film Air is out next month, has reflected on his time playing Batman in Justice League, which he said led him to “drink too much”.
“It was either that or jump out the window,” he said, adding: “And I just thought, ‘This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable.’”
Affleck said the diastrous production left a “monstrous taste” in his mouth, and made him go: “I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited.”
Following this, Affleck cancelled plans to direct his standalone Batman film.
“That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business, which is full of some s***y experiences,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “It broke my heart.”

Ben Affleck has explained the reasoning behind not depicting Michael Jordan in Air, a film about the legendary NBA star’s collaboration with Nike.
Directed by and starring the Gone Girl star, Air is a forthcoming sports drama, based on the real-life story of marketing executive Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) working with Nike to pursue a young Jordan to create his own line of sneakers.
Jordan’s collaboration with Nike was the major catalyst in creating a long link between the worlds of sports, fashion and pop culture, with the immense popularity of his Air Jordans.
However, the basketball star is nowhere to be seen in the film.
In a new interview, Affleck explains the choice behind not depicting the star on screen, despite his name being a major part of the story.

Hugh Grant did not hold back when asked a question about one of his past films.
The actor, who is promoting new fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, recalled his time on Music & Lyrics during a new interview.
The actor co-starred with Drew Barrymore in the romcom as washed-up pop star Alex Fletcher, who is hired to write a chart-topping hit for a teenage pop star (Haley Bennett).
Barrymore plays Sophie Fisher, the songwriter that Grant’s character is teamed up with. During the film, they regularly sing the songs they’re writing, which Grant said required auto-tuning.
Speaking to Wired for a segment in which he answered “the web’s most-searched questions”, Grant was asked: “Does Hugh Grant actually sing in Music & Lyrics?”
He replied: “Yes, well I do, but I’m auto-tuned beyond belief.
“Actually, that's not true – I'm auto-tuned a bit, but not as much as some,...

Shout! Studios presents The Magic Flute by Florian Zigl, executive produced by Roland Emmerich, at 325 theaters with expansion likely. A reimagining of the Mozart opera, it follows a present-day teen sent from London to the Austrian Alps on singing scholarship at the legendary Mozart boarding school. There, he discovers a century old forgotten passageway into the magical world of Mozart’s famed opera.
This Harry Potter-ish adventure fantasy stars Jack Wolfe as Tim Walker, who passes from school into the world of the opera and its many adventures as hero Prince Tamino. Wide releases may be picking up steam and Scream, but in terms of new specialty, and family fare, these isn’t much new competition this weekend.
Melissa Boag, EVP of Family Entertainment at Shout! Studios, hopes it will play with fans of magical adventure, Harry Potter, and classical music. Wolfe is a star of Netflix YA series Shadow & Bone.

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not) are back behind the camera for Scream VI, now playing in movie theaters nationwide.
In the brand new movie, “The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.”
That means we can expect themes and character arcs introduced in 2022’s Scream to deepen. With Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett at the helm, that also means brand new Easter eggs and franchise nods nestled within the slasher thrill ride. The franchise, since its inception, revolves around its commentary and reverence for the horror genre, after all.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with the directors ahead of the film’s release. They explained that they couldn’t resist one of the more obvious references regarding their New York City set sequel: Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.

Police have identified a third victim who died following a stampede at GloRilla’s Rochester, New York concert, according to new reports.
False fears of a shooting at the rapper’s upstate New York concert sent a crowd surging towards the exits in a stampede that killed two people and left at least eight others injured, police said.
The casualties at Sunday (5 March) night’s concert featuring GloRilla and Finesse2tymes were caused by people being trampled, Police Chief David M Smith said at a news briefing on Monday (6 March).
“We do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired or of anyone being shot or stabbed at the scene,” Smith said.
As the concert at Rochester’s Main Street Armory ended just after 11pm Est, people exiting the venue began to surge dangerously. Police made their way inside and found three women with critical injuries, Smith said.
