The journey is over
Rodzman14 January 2021
We reached the end, the series at the beginning and it's amazing, to accompany Ragnar is wonderful, after his death, the series loses its trump card, episodes are ok, but you keep following, I didn't have many expectations for the end, so the series it showed me in previous episodes, I really liked the final scene, the era of the Vikings comes to an end and it was good to follow this story. Long live King Ragnar

I am content

Vikings had its issues especially, after the death of Ragnar. But even so, I feel like these last few episodes have somewhat redeemed this show. I enjoyed the ending and can honestly say that I'm happy with this. Vikings is a great show which had its ups and downs but ultimately came to a satisfying conclusion.

Not exactly what you'd expect

Warning: Spoilers
Can't believe one of my favourite tv shows is over now. As anyone who followed the series, I was also expecting a pretty dramatic but at the same time satisfying ending of the show. Ending, which would summarise the most important events/results. Unfortunately, this is not the case here.

I don't know what happened, but it really feels like the show died after season 4. Almost seems like the storyline followed the true historic events up until the beginning of S05. After that, it was all just a "oh this would look cool, let's put it in!!"

As for the Season 6 - I can easily say, that if directors replaced the whole oleg/igor/RUS people part/idea with something that would focus more on the main characters and their development, the ending would have been better. Just because we spent so much time with meaningless rus people, it kinda feels the entire season was slow and boring as hell. Apart from that, I also felt like way too many new characters bounced from being "nobody" to "king or queen" in a matter of 1-2 episodes, which developed 0% empathy to those characters and made me loose any interest in what was meant to be a major event!

Also the death of Ivar - as much as I hated him, I still think he did not deserve a death the series presented! That was very, very weak and was not emotional at all.

No information about Rollo. What happened to the guy in Greenland? A witch, wearing a crown in Kattegat... and a slave presented to series for 5 minutes, seating right next to her... really?

Vikings. What an amazing achievement!
myctkdworld28 September 2021
What an absolute masterpiece of a show Michael Hirst accomplished here. Honestly, this show changed the game. I had never seen a long ago historical show that had characters you actually gave a crap about before, except in movies really. This show has already being copied lately to try and find that perfect mix, but nobody seems to be able to do it. I hope Hirst revisits a new world (Romans? England and Normans? Mesopotamia? The Silk Road?) in a show again! Because the dude is just a genius with this stuff. I also hope that Fimmel plays a Viking or someone of long ago again, because the he is ridiculously amazing at it. One of the top 10 tv show casting choices in history. I'll miss this show and how it spurned me on to actually read even more history!

Legendary TV series
bozijlucifer30 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A very good, strong, historical series. More precisely, these are historical sagas, legends, denounced in the form of a historical story. A tough series, bloody, without embellishment, without sentiment. There are many scenes of violence, blood, dirt. But this is the 8th century that we want...Beautifully staged fights, wonderful acting work, costumes, paraphernalia, everything alive, worn, worn-such things are expensive

Not a Game of Thrones ending! SKOL!

Warning: Spoilers
Far from perfect. But..

In all honesty, not everyone will like the ending, as is so with other shows. I believed the show died in the snake pit, but this season resurrected it. I enjoyed Ivar's change in morals and values. I always thought they made him a little too evil.

Each son did as they thought Ragnar would have wanted, which was enough to keep some of the older seasons intertwined in the new.

The ending was not too bad. I enjoyed it.

Great ending
shaunmcevoy-988336 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This has always been Ragnars show since day one, so to have the very last moment of Vikings be Ragnars son and his most loyal friend in this new land of endless opportunities that he dreamt of is just the most perfect send off. So glad to see Floki again and I'm glad he and Ubbe are alive past end credits, their arcs are some of the strongest on the show.

I liked Hvitzerk turning Christian and forgetting the old gods, starting a new life as Athlestan, good ending for him I think.

Right decision to have Ivar die, just don't think his final moments should of been him crying, he should've been rejoicing and laughing waiting for Valhalla, it just seemed a bit out of character for Ivar.

Did not like Ingrid who's a nobody been in the show all of 10 minutes ending up queen of Kattegat, the place where Vikings started. That was a terrible decision.

Also I don't understand why we never see Rollo again, why has no one mentioned him in like 3 seasons? He's the ruler of Francia and Ragnars brother. the final Kattegat scene should've been him sailing up the Fjords with a french army and taking Kattegat and becoming king.

So many great, defining shows ended in so short a time
c-34604-6273014 January 2021
Ive never done this before. Ive checked IMDB for as long as i can remember, 10 plus years every time i sought an average census for a show i might want to watch, or just to find that one user review to convince me to watch something which the average viewer base appraised poorly. I've looked to validate, and/or to find my distractions from life.

Heroes, Breaking bad, Madmen, Hannibal, Vikings, so many stories, all spanning years, so many stories that help to anchor so many other memories, and emotions as one moves through life. Vikings spanned nearly a decade, it was one of those shows that helped to develop a year "Oh whens the next season of vikings out?, 6 months? i look forward to it" mundane thoughts that added structure and anticipation to everyday life.

I just watched the final episode, and i let it sit for a moment, and looked for holes in it, a sense that it wasnt complete - always the cynic. But i couldnt. I saw the final scene, and i realised that id never have to have the thought of "all of those years, all of those hours, for this?" and that realisation alone, that a 'chapter' of life, and of tv ended, and i didnt feel even a little disappointment. That i can look back and feel validated that i always knew it would be fulfilling and that the time i spent following the story of Norway, and Ragnar, and his sons and all involved would amount to a conclusive feeling of worth, and satisfaction...thats more than one can hope for in todays television, and todays escape from day to day worries and stress.

So that was 2013 to 2020. I hope there are worlds, and characters and stories to come... if not better, than atleast equal to those weve just experienced, and that im so grateful for.

I miss it already!
jon-226433 January 2021
I have to admit that I had a feeling that things will turn out as they did, there were few closures in this last episode, I was not too surprised, still I was glad. As I see it, a great part of this episode refers to a change that occurred eventually in the Vikings old ways, when they merged into Europe and England, after they realized that war and killing as a way of life is pointless, that different and better life do exist, and it is possible to change for better. It is important for any viewer to read the history, and know that the main characters did exist, and that it was the Vikings who found America (North) and had settlements thereover 500 years before Columbus. I've heard that Netflix will continue the Saga, about 100 years after the current events, hopefully it will be as good, for me this last episode was a great ending, all loose ends were resolved.

Not what I was hoping for
Cal5715 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved Vikings up until the finale of season 4. That's where the show truly ended for me, because after that it just wasn't the same. Now I'm not saying it just went completely downhill after Ragnar's death, it had it's moments where it started to get better again, but generally it was sloppy and nonsensical. I expected better honestly. Now I was glad to see Floki make his return right at the end, I felt like that had some redeeming quality to the show, because Floki just brings me back to the Ragnar day's, but essentially there were so just many questions and flaws with this final season. King of Kings was probably the best episode for me. I feel like Bjorn got the appropriate send off, but overall, an average ending to a once great series.

Didn't make sense to me
konstantinaseir15 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A random witch that nobody cares becomes the queen of Kattegat. It's former rulers, Ragnar Lagertha, Bjorn, Ivar were legends!!!!!! Just why?

Ivar dies in battlefield. I agree. Hvitserk and Ivar have an emotional moment. I agree. But why should he sacrifice himself? He is ruthless, smart, ambitious. It didn't fit his character. There was no sign that he would evince this kind of death. Just let him die fighting English. Also why did he tell Hvitserk to leave?.. so he can go where? And Hvitserk just sat a meter away.. what? So confused.

I didn't get the whole Hvitserk-christian thing. Again no sign in the whole season. You spend 2 mins of the episode to show such a big difference in a person's life and belief. No sign that he was questioning his viking faith. So, did he want to be baptized? Did he do it only to survive? I will never find out.

Moreover, why should they attack England AGAIN? Ivar has nothing to do in Kattegat, he finds his old chess pawn and decides the invade. Of course everyone agreed and found it a great idea! Lol.

I kinda liked the whole Ubbe-natives storyline. It was nice seeing Alfred again. I also liked the fact that a first episode character, Floki, was also in the last episode. The fact that Ragnar and Ubbe look so alike made the last scene of Ubbe and Floki really evocative. Nobody cared about Eric neither.

Only one problem with this ending
edimihalescu4 January 2021

Ingrid as queen of kattegat? REALLY?!?! Is that the best they could do? Instead of having Hvitserk or even Ubbe return and rule they made a character with like what, 10 appearances in the ENTIRE show become queen? Come on writers, you are better than this

Great Ending for a Great Great Show
hailuemanuel30 December 2020
As endings go this is one of the best for me. The episode was the end but it didn't have to feel like the end and it didn't for me, right up until some characters finality came. It is an intense and emotional episode but there are so many like that in this show it feels normal, which proves how good of a show it is. I am gonna miss it a lot. The show didn't break character and became something different just for spontaneity or shock value and ruin characters like so many other series have done, those shows and others should learn from it because for viewers like me its no fun to remember those kind of endings, kills the want to re watch or recommend. Vikings cast and crew Thank you for such amazing years of great story which spanned 2 generations at least with amazing characters and for the great visuals which i can't compare to any other and for the many giant incredible fights. Thank you

Intense and Immensely Satisfying Finale!
skip-987564 January 2021
I have watched this series a few time and just now have finished up its final season...What an incredible ,deeply touching show that has had a certain surrealistic air and feel about it ,even from the start...With so many characters falling away as time progressed, one would think that the show would be somehow diminished...While I miss the ones that are no more, the ones that remain after each passing do such a stellar job that while the show Does become different ,it still is immensely satisfying due to the all that these characters give in their roles.. Ultimately the later seasons fall to Ivar and his brothers just as the earlier seasons were Ragnar and Rollo...For me , there are no bad seasons in this series, only differing ones, equally enjoyable in the tales they told and the successors that carried on..Vikings is Epic by all standards and spans generations...I loved the ending and the Intense performances by ivar ,Uber and Vitsig were unforgettable..love this show.

That was a great ending 9.2/10

Warning: Spoilers
So here it is. The final episode of one of the best shows ever. And it did not dissapoint. Many people seem to be angry that Ivar died and Hvitserk became a christian, but i'm fine with those things.

At the middle of the episode we see a big battle, which was great. One thing that i did not liked about the episode was that the witch became the queen of kategat. I mean, Ragnar had plenty of sons and no one claimed the throne at the end.

I think Hvitserk should have returned in Kategat and take the throne with an election. But these are just my thoughts. On the other side, Ubbe and Floki are living in the new land. That ending was awesome, and i loved it. This episode wrapped the things in a great way. Gonna miss his show a lot.

Awesome and satisfactory ending after 6 beautiful seasons
vai22109430 December 2020
Overall the ending looks very good in ots own way. Most major characters get sensible and well thought of closures. Also ending does not leave many questions to be answered. Overall, feels good to finally wotness the end of such a long saga. All set for the Valhalla now! Cheers.

The greatest Viking that ever lived.
johnharrymad2 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What an episode, what a season, what a ride this has been. Ubbe is happy at his new land alongside Floki. In Kattegat we have a witch queen (why not). Hvitserk becomes a Christian after a life full of fighting and probably doing it better than any son of Ragnar (truly underated). And then there's the greatest Viking that ever lived. What a way to end Ivar's life. Fighting even though his eyes were completely blue, guiding in a way his comrades' movements. And finally admitting his love to Hvitserk, the only brother that actually stayed with him to the very end. An amazing ending to a series that's had its ups and downs, but this last season made everything worth it. We will miss you Vikings. See you all in Valhalla.

Why do so many shows have poor last seasons
goldo-3561921 April 2022
I would nearly put this with GOTs last season, so disappointing. No where close to being historically accurate and so many nobodies becoming top people within a few episodes.

What a journey
rattyrat27 January 2021
Not everyone is going to like the ending ....maybe because It wasn't predictable .The enjoyment I've got from this show over the years and seeing the characters develop has been immense ,in fact I've promised myself that I will leave it a few years and start from the beginning again .it has also given me a keen history of all things Viking ...be it culture, history and traditions...I remember the bbc attempting to make a similar series and failing badly .In the unlikely event of the writers, producers or any actors reading this review I would just like to say a massive thank you for this epic and lifelong memory .

One of the greatest shows I have ever watched
raj-bhullar7 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This finale was ok. Ivar death scene didn't feel great to me. He died from a random stranger stabbing him multiple times with a knife. It would have been cooler if Alfred had killed him in battle or Hvitserk had killed him seeing his bones were brittle and he was already dying so Hvitserk kills him so Ivar doesn't suffer anymore from his brittle bones breaking. His whole death scene felt a bit weird to me. Also would have been cooler if Ivar had fought and killed some warriors. That's why I gave it a 7 out of 10.

BIG VIKINGS FAN, but sad to say I am not satisfied
sanjaypro6 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not here to talk about the glory days with Ragnar and Co. cause everybody knows that was the peak of the show..

The ending to this amazing series was subpar at best! So many questions on the decisions the writers made.. To start, Ingrid on the throne of Kattegat with her weird murderess handmaiden that we met for one episode? Ivar losing a battle that they clearly stated he had an advantage in? I expected him to die, I get that, but in that way? His ending could've been MILES better than what we got.. Finehair too, died by nobodies!

Ubbe's story arc 100% saved season 6 and is the main reason I can give this 5 stars. Beautifully done by Jordan Patrick Smith, best acting behind Travis fimmel and Gustaf (floki) of course. Loved how it ended with him and floki, I'll give that respect where it is due! (But that one dude looking for gold in the rainforest LMAO)

Thank you for the outstanding entertainment over the years Vikings crew! SKOL🍻
