Lords of Dogtown is headed to television. IMDb TV, Amazon’s free, ad-supported streaming service, is developing a TV series adaptation of the 2005 Sony movie. The project hails from Shawn Ryan’s MiddKid Productions and Sony Pictures TV where the company is based, with the movie’s director Catherine Hardwick executive producing.
Written by Kat Candler (Queen Sugar), Lords of Dogtown is a one-hour ensemble-drama about the 1970s skateboarding scene in Southern California, centered around a hell-raising teenage girl growing up in the foster care system. She falls in with a crowd of skaters who idolize the famed Zephyr Skateboard Team.
Candler is executive producing alongside Hardwick and MiddKid’s Ryan and Marney Hochman.
Directed by Hardwicke and written by Stacy Peralta, the Lords of Dogtown movie follows the surf and skateboarding trends that originated in Venice, California during the 1970s. The film starred Emile Hirsch, Victor Rasuk, John Robinson,...

Shawn Ryan is adapting for television the 2020 novel The Night Agent by Matthew Quirk. The Shield creator revealed the project last night as part of a series of tweets about some the favorite books he read in 2020.
He listed The Night Agent in the category of “Books I read, Decided To Adapt For Television And May Have Already Finished Writing The Pilot Episode.”
I hear Ryan wrote the pilot script on spec at Sony Pictures TV where he is under an exclusive overall deal. The project is believed to be still in internal development and will be taken out in the new year. Ryan is executive producing via his MiddKid Productions, with the company’s Marney Hochman also expected to exec produce.

Exclusive: Production on CBS’ Young Sheldon was suspended for today, I have learned. I hear the decision was made after a Covid-19 test for a production team member came back positive.
The positive result for the person, who was asymptotic and currently in isolation, came through the rigorous regular testing implemented by Warner Bros TV for all production employees. Out of an abundance of caution, production was paused for a day. The producers are evaluating when the show will resume shooting next week.
Young Sheldon, from Chuck Lorre Prods. and Warner Bros TV, started production on its fourth season September 22 in Los Angeles. Filming previously was shut down for a day in October over a positive Covid test.
Many TV productions currently are faced with outbreaks amid a record-breaking third wave of Covid infections nationwide, in California and in Los Angeles.

Amazon is bringing a beloved big-screen horror film to the small screen in series form.
According to Deadline, Amazon Studios has announced the adaptation of the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan, I Know What You Did Last Summer.
It sounds like a winner already!
Although the film had a follow-up, there is a lot to mine with the story.
Sara Goodman (Preacher) will write the series, which will feature the familiar byline from the franchise.
A town full of secrets is suddenly plagued by a mysterious killer when teenagers, who were involved with a terrible accident on their graduation night, are stalked mercilessly.
The 1997 film propelled its cast into the spotlight.
Written by Kevin Williamson, it starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr.
The series will come from Sony Pictures Television and Original Film.

Who cares if the trailer for a film from China is dubbed into Spanish with no English subtitles when it's this packed with action? Not me. Of course, that doesn't mean S.W.A.T. Fuerza Letal (original title: Te Jing Dui) itself will live up to this trailer, but certainly it looks like a lot of fun, diverting action, wrapped around a plot that I could not decipher from a single viewing. The trailer arrives via Bf Distribution in Bolivia; the company also distributes films in Argentina, Chile, and Peru. Ding Sheng directed; I've seen three of his past films, Railroad Tigers, Saving Mr. Wu and Little Big Soldier, so I'm anticipating another well-constructed action extravaganza, if it ever comes available here in the...

Survivor will no longer be part of CBS’ fall schedule as a result of the Covid-19 production shutdown as S.W.A.T moves up from midseason as part of the network’s rejig.
Producers had hoped to get Survivor up and running to hit the fall deadline, but will not make it in time. The network said that producers are continuing to work with officials in Fiji on the “appropriate time” to start production with health and safety matters its top priority.
The show, which is exec produced by Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett and Matt VanWagenen, was set to air in a 8pm slot on Wednesday. Instead, the upcoming season of The Amazing Race will move from 9pm to 8pm.

It was a down night for some and a steady night for others.
Over on NBC, Chicago Med slipped two-tenths to a season low tying 1.0 rating.
The veteran series delivered 8.3 million total viewers, but it easily led the night in that metric.
Chicago Fire was also on the down side, losing a tenth week-to-week, coming down to 8.2 million viewers and a 1.1 rating.
Chicago P.D. slipped from last week's crossover to 7.1 million viewers and a 1.0 rating.
However, these numbers are on par with the show's non-crossover average.
#OneChicago remains a viable option for NBC, and all three shows have been renewed until 2023.
Fox's The Masked Singer bounced back from last week's season low, garnering 6.7 million viewers and and a 1.8 rating.
It may not be as strong as it once was, but it was the loudest show in the demo on Wednesday night.
Lego Masters followed with a steady 3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” completely fizzled in its second weekend in China, setting it on track to become the least successful installment of the franchise by far in the world’s second largest film market.
By Monday, “Skywalker” ranked seventh at the box office behind a pack of local Chinese action films and dramas. After opening with the weakest debut of any recent “Star Wars” films in the country, it made just $2 million in its second weekend and accounted for less than 3% of China’s total screenings.
Since last week, online ticketing platform Maoyan has lowered its prediction for the lifetime gross for “The Rise of Skywalker” down to just $19.7 million, far below the $126 million grossed by “The Force Awakens” in 2015, the $69.4 million for “Rogue One” in 2016 and the $42.6 million for “The Last Jedi” in 2017.

CBS’ S.W.A.T. is teasing subtraction by addition, with the casting of TV vet Bailey Chase.
An alum of series such as Longmire and Saving Grace, Chase is set to recur during the back half of Season 3 as Owen, a well-connected former Army Ranger who is in the process of launching a high-end security firm, our sister site Deadline reports. In that pursuit, he will court Deacon (played by Jay Harrington) — who is seemingly forever-cash strapped (what now, the gutters need replacing??), and whose family has had more than their fill of S.W.A.T.-related drama — to join his firm.
