Gran Turismo (2023)

Carrying the dreams of gamers everywhere
29 September 2023
Another videogame movie, which not long ago would be code for bad movies that completely misses the mark. Luckily we're way past that and videogame movies have been a delight to watch. This is no popcorn-flick, this was actually a really solid movie. But it won't be for everyone, you need to be a fan of racing, you need to be a fan of GranTurismo on Playstation. GT is my favorite racing franchise and I love racing, I play GTsport on PS4 and still play GT6 on my PS3.

The movie lives upto the games, I mean it wasn't that difficult to do so. But they did justice to the games. The shortcomings were definitely the barebones script, a stereotypical predictable ups and downs, the unnecessary dramatic photo finishes and the love angle. The acting was functional, there were emotions behind them at times but for the most part it wont blow anyone away. The main lead is a good example, he's not someone you'd wanna root for if you've never played a racing game. But if you have then you'd be cheering him on because he got to be where we all wish we could be playing on our controllers. He is carrying the unfulfilled hopes and dreams of all us gamers, rooting for him is natural because he becomes a self-insert. Orlando Bloom was flat, David Harbor atleast put some effort.

As for the driving aspect, the game to real racing transition we're pretty amazing. The vibration and shaky cam were a joy, regret not watching it in theaters. I feel they could've done more on track racing but trust me, you wont realize this while watching.

The direction was a letdown, the runtime a bit too long, the soundtrack mostly doesn't work but it somehow still fades when the actual racing begins. There were some really unrealistic parts in the movie, things that would never happen in real life but this isn't a documentary.

Its not a perfect film but it does what it sets out to do. Inspire the feeling and keep the dream alive for the millions of racing game enthusiast that didn't get to race. If you can relate to this aspect then this is the film for you, if you are a casual it still should be a decent watch considering the low grade garbage we keep getting. And if you're not a fan of racing at all then why are you even watching this?

LEON-JILL TEAMUP FINALLY!
12 August 2023
This was my most anticipated movie of 2023, lets just get this outta the way. I'm the kind of Resident Evil fan that follows and watches and knows almost everything going on in the main series but is too much of a wuss to actually start and finish one of them because my heart cant handle horror. I love the characters, a certified Jill and Leon simp, I love Rebecca and like the Redfield siblings. So one can imagine just how livid I was when I found out they're going to team up in a new animated movie. This is ENDGAME for RE fans and for the most part my hype was satisfied.

This is gonna be pretty biased, if you arent a fan of all things RESIDENT EVIL you aint gonna like this one and this aint for you either. This was made for the fans, an excuse to bring the gang all together. Throw in Ada and Wesker and Sheva somewhere and it'd be a fever dream.

The movie was fast paced, barely any downtime or time for character buildup because lets face it, each of them has gone through hell and back multiple times. The villain was pretty decent, in that his backstory and motives far outshone his actual plan and endgame. Lets just say he wasn't the smartest tool in the shed and his scenes in the end was outright dumb. Except for the last 25mins the movie was pretty solid. But the ending was underwhelming, the main baddie was underwhelming, the teamup was a wasted potential and for being the ENDGAME it was definitely not an AVENGERS level threat. This was prolly the most self-contained and cut-off-from-civilization RE since the first game. The actions were fantastic, the visuals were astounding, the score was forgettable and the dialogue corny-just how it should be. There were slight hiccups in the CGI and VFX in a few scenes esp with water areas but overall a great feast for the eyes.

My gripes are with the last 25minutes, couldve been the masterpiece it shouldve been but stumbled face first. But does it detract from the experience? Absolutely not. The character interactions were gold, the team-ups fantastic and FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER Leon-Jill teamup!!!! Just this alone is enough for me, I love them so much!

I got my moneys worth but as I said this is gonna be a very biased take. Its atleast a good past-time for the general public and a must-watch for people fan of the series. It wont blow anyone away, it may even disappoint many but I was left satisfied and thats what matters to me. Movies are subjective, doesnt matter how good or bad a movie is technically if you enjoyed it and had a good time. Its ok for movies to just be movies.

The Flash (I) (2023)
6/10
An Insult to Your Eyes but Better than Expected
7 August 2023
The last remnant of Zack Snyders comicbook debauchery, no way I'd have any expectation from it. Won't say I was pleasantly surprised but its better than I thought it'd be. The entire movie looks like it was made by little kids lemonade shop earning, an absolutely insult to people with eyes. Adding that to the bold and dimwitted excuse by the director for the story state of visuals, this could easily be the worst looking superhero movie of the 2000s. Because it really is just an excuse cooked up by a thirdrate hack with zero filmmaking knowledge who shouldnt be anywhere near the directors chair.

The good surprise all came from Ezra Felon Miller, who I wasnt a fan of as Flash. But in some weird way he makes it work, which is astounding since there are two of them and the other one is an even more insufferable version of him. But both version work, their contrast and perspective and role reversals work. The additional treat was Michael Keaton back as Batman, not in all his glory but in the most Michael Keaton way as possible. The easter eggs from the '89 movie was peppered throughout, nostalgia bait or not it worked on me. The fight scenes were appalling and I swear this is the final time but the whole big battle in an empty field fight is the worst thing Ive seen in a superhero movie. Honestly I imagine the Morbius theatre looked more packed than this. Sasha Calle as Supergirl was decent enough but Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot just keeps getting worse as times go on. Ben Affleck is a terrible Batman and Bruce Wayne, he was only ever good in half of BVS, people need to wake up and see for what he is. The twist at the end was very neat and dare I say as a concept was better than the actual Flashpoint comics for me. Wont spoil but you'll understand when its revealed. And be sure that is high enough praise for me, when I say its better conceptwise than the actual comic that everyone loves.

Ezra Miller carries the film, the nightmare opening act aside he was really solid. Esp in the more nuanced scenes injected with just enough emotion. Its a shame that both he and the concept was stuck inside a movie made by a D-grade moviemaker pretending to be a C-grade moviemaker. I literally have no respect for the director of this film, couldve really been quite good if made by someone with half a vision.

RATING: 6/10(Was expecting a 2/10 movie)

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
7/10
Politics Of The Bomb
21 July 2023
Might sound absolutely blasphemous but I think this is better watched at home. This is not against the quality of the filmmaking, which was understandably amazing but the tediousness of it being an unintentional Oscar bait. There are tooo many characters, most looking similar and too dialogue heavy to be watching in theatres. The soundmixing leaves a lot of the dialogue to the imagination as well. What I expected from it was not what I walked away with, this is not about the bomb rather than the political side of the bomb. So be prepared to sit through endless courtroom back-and-forth with characters introduced in almost every scene. If you are not already aware of exactly what happened to Oppenheimer esp his life after the bomb, you're gonna have a really hard time understanding whats going on. Thats where the paradox lies, can it be a masterfully crafted movie if you lose your audience before the credits? Because it absolutely is and most around me absolutely were. And then if you are already aware of everything that happened to Oppenheimer was it really necessary to play the plot twist game with a certain character throughout the entire movie? The whole movie was a bit of oxymoron, you get to see what you prolly didnt want to and didnt get to see what you most wanted to. I'm talking about the bomb obviously, I was heavily disappointed by the absence of it. The saving grace was the amazing acting performance by RDJ and Emily Blunt who both should be receiving Oscar nominations. Cillian Murphy did a great job as well but there were many scenes where I felt like I was watching Tommy Shelby instead of Robert Oppenheimer. The best part of watching Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer was when he had no dialogues because his eyes do a better job at portraying what Nolan was going for. There is surprisingly little of the Nolan "practical effect mindbending scene that needs to be seen in cinemas". This was easier to follow and harder to watch than TENET.

Love & Rockets
8 July 2023
Had the potential to be one of the best MCU movie of all time but fell short due to a messy 3rd act. But it does manage to do what EXTREMELY FEW MCU movies have been able to, make you care for the characters. MCU movies have been feeling AI made to me for quite sometime. Aside from NWH I cant remember the last time I was invested or ever cared about whats happening on screen. These movies have become so much of a throwaway popcorn flicks that it is impossible to finish them without multitasking.

But VOL3 had my full attention, I was invested in the characters. The characters all had their moment, you cant dislike any of them. Obviously Rocket was the centre of attention but none of them felt sidelined. Sure there are wasted potential here and there, especially whatever on earth Adam Warlock was. The plot was paper thin, the movie structure kept going back and forth from past to present. But you wont find a movie that made you care for characters you barely know, the JAMES GUNN THE SUICIDE SQUAD influence was very noticeable for some reason. Which is not a bad thing since that is my favorite DCEU movie afterall. I dont want to spoil why exactly it was heartwarming, gutwrenching and sad at times but do know that its there. The villain was fairly decent, which by MCU standard means EPIC. The 2.5hr runtime never felt long, there was always something going on to keep your attention. Even the CGI looked fairly ok, which has been horrible in the MCU for quite a while. The soundtrack often felt forced and could be something wrong with the digital print I watched but the aspect ratio was weird.

Paperthin plot with gallons of emotion. And since I'm a very emotional guy esp when it comes to animals, it was definitely a win for me. Could've been better sure but I'd say the perfect sendoff to the GOTG. Also Rocket is the best, hope you folks finally believe me.

A Movie Can Just Be A Movie
12 June 2023
Its a potential three-parter, lets get this outta the way because it leaves many things as cliffhanger and doesnt even have character closure or anything. So if making a good FAST movie wasnt already hard enough they just made it harder. But surprisingly, this was good and I had a really enjoyable time. I mean obviously its bonkers and defies every rule of physics and human biology possible but what action blockbuster doesnt these days? "Rocket League in Rome", "Hotwheels commercial", "cartoon action"; these are only some of the "insults" hurled at it. But since where are those an insult? I thought we all loved those stuffs that makes us feel like a kid again? How is John Wick falling off the NY Continental and surviving any more realistic than what Dom and Gang does? FAST franchise is literally the only place for summer action blockbuster that fulfills all your childhood "what ifs" and only one brave enough to do it proudly too.

This is no different as well, bonkers action scene and literal superhumans doing the impossible and making it look both cool and hilarious at the same time. This has more "family", and except for the ending sequence was surprisingly grounded. Jason Momoa as Dante Reyes was prolly the best villain of the franchise, flamboyant and steals every scene. Yes it was definitely a Joker mimicry but it was still better than Leto Joker. Large roster of characters, hilarious moments, family ties and plenty of self aware jabs and car action. It makes sense that the movie is all over the place as its just a setup for the next movie but was fun enough as a standalone as well.

Renfield (2023)

Nic Cage: Bloody Brilliant
10 June 2023
I absolutely forgot to review this one but better late than never. Renfield is a good gore-comedy with Nick Cage playing Dracula finally. Hilarious most of the time but a very by-the-books Dracula flick. I say that but still kinda does it differently? As the title suggests the titular character is not Dracula but his servant Renfield. Its actually hard to review something like this. If you're a Nick Cage fan its a MUST WATCH, if you're not then I dont see why you'd want to watch this one. Dont get me wrong its fun, and a very enjoyable movie but make no mistake you're gonna be watching it for Nick Cage only. Awkwafina is in it, somewhat bearable. Ben Schwartz is in it, peak Jean Ralphio energy. One thing for sure I badly need a Nick Cage Dracula movie which is full b/w and a dark comedy. The modern day setting is interesting but a medieval one would be legendary.

If you love Nick Cage absolutely must watch, its still a decent movie if you arent. But if you hate Nick Cage, I'm not sure this movie is for you as amazing Nick Cage was in it.

2-Steps In The Right Direction
9 June 2023
The new transformers sticks to the tried and tested formula instead of pushing any boundaries whatsoever. But that is not what you want to hear from a Transformers review right? It was pretty good, there arent any bad moments and there were some really cool and hilarious scenes. Sure it couldve been better and not as good as BUMBLEBEE but it is clearly 2steps in the right direction. The runtime felt short but that just means less downtime. Didnt have the Bayverse production value but its clear the director knows what he is doing and only constrained by the studio he is working for. Mirage played by Pete Davidson was hands down the best part of the movie, I absolutely hate the guy but he nailed the role. The lead human for the first time was a capable and endearing human being. Wish his relationship with his little brother was more at display, actually he shouldve been part of the journey instead of the lead girl who is only there as a historian that knows things. Bumblebee who I dislike had one of the coolest scenes in any transformers movie ever. The MAXIMALS were great, I never liked BEAST WARS but I desperately wished they had more screentime. The movie looks bland at times being in a vast open field instead of cities like the Bayverse, which is why some scenes felt empty. Optimus Prime was a disappointment, shocking to say the least. As were the villains and the big baddie.

I enjoyed it, step in the right direction but not quite there yet. Hopeful for a sequel with a bigger budget and more Transformers on screen.

The Magic Has Run Out
25 May 2023
A very different kind of JOHN WICK film that has equal amount of hits as it has misses. As someone who wasnt much of a fan of Chapter-3 this addresses none of my gripes. Too many characters, too many rules/norms/High-table bs, too many bullet sponge cartoonish mob fight, indestructible superhumans and John Wick himself being a cardboard cut-out parody version of himself. I mean yeah it has some cool actions scenes, especially the Hotline-Miami esque topdown shooting sequence and almost every scene with Donnie Yen but does it erase all the overkills? What made the first 2 films so great was that JOHN WICK actually felt like a human, had emotions. Now its just using the suit as a shield and walk away with literally anything. Also for a movie with action legends like SANADA-SAN, DONNIE YEN, KEANU REEVES there was barely any worthwhile action, I just wanted a showdown with each of them in their prime but the movie infuriatingly shies away from that. For what its worth atleast I'm glad more people are gonna discover RINA SAWAYAMA, she's an amazing artist and got to flaunt her fighting chops as well.

Absolutely Zero Complaints
20 May 2023
A videogame movie masterpiece that wont leave you bored even for a second. This is not your monocle wearing "film", its a family popcorn flick through and through. If you grew up with Nintendo or know anything about the core Nintendo franchises you're gonna love this movie to bits. Drawing inspirations from the core franchises, Sprinkling in enough references, paying proper homage all the while going new and interesting directions with the plot, is a testament to how most videogame movies should be made. Perfect set of cast, absolute zero complaints, heck I wanna praise Chris Pratt & Jack Black so much for absolutely NAILING it! Absolutely no complaints on the movie, could it have been better? I cant think of ways to make it any better.

A Comfort Movie
22 April 2023
Haven't watched a movie since like 2022 and wasn't really planning on watching a superhero movie anytime soon either but the holidays and festivals are the worst time of the year for me and thought something like Shazam wouldn't be so bad.

And I was right, it was delightful and fun. Its a shame how poorly this was advertised and how it colossally bombed at the box office, because this is legit a more enjoyable movie than almost the entirety of MCU phase-4. Not perfect obviously, but I honestly couldn't care less about the technical side of things and neither should you really. It was fun, hearty, feel good and a really good popcorn flick.

Basically its like the MCU movies but more fun, quirky, hearty, relatable, enjoyable and a better time all around. Just as good as the first one but in a different way, prioritizes the familial aspect more than boring expositions or plot points. Which is a plus for me because honestly we've all "been there done that" at this point and personally can't even sit through expositions or who is who and why are they doing what.

Cinema about Cancel Culture
6 January 2023
A superb character study helmed by the ever marvelous Cate Blanchett reaffirming the cost of fame and the toll of the fall. An uncomfortable and depressing unraveling tale of artistry and the power dynamics stretched by ego which ultimately leaves you unsatisfied but still manages to etch the lessons into you. A middlefinger to modern day theatre runtime and structure, which is difficult to follow or be interested in for the first 30mins or so. It doesn't quite get better but the brilliance of Cate Blanchett incapacitates you, as you bear witness just how powerful a good acting actually is. Seriously, don't bother nominating 4/5 other actresses for the Oscar only to be humiliated by this power performance. It shouldn't even be a debate who wins best female.

Stays With You
28 December 2022
Alright who would've thought this would by far be the weirdest movie I'd watch in a year EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE came out! The best way to describe this movie would be that its like THE LIGHTHOUSE, extremely well made, unsettling which you liked but don't know if you should've or suggest it to someone with confidence. Extremely well acted, breathtaking vistas, ethereal music and a supernaturally absurd yet simplistic plot would still leave you completely unsatisfied with its conclusion and even more confused of the events that transpired or even ushered it.

Its the type of movie to make you feel absolutely gobsmacked.

(Please dont mistake it that I didnt like the film, I absolutely did but its not something I'd recommend even to myself, let alone other people.

It will most definitely come off as stupid, as intended by the director but if you're an artist or a content creator undergoing depression and identity crisis it will most definitely intrigue you.

You have been warned)

Feels like NIGHTCRAWLER
28 December 2022
If you have a NIGHTCRAWLER shaped hole that needs filling then this just might be your poison. The influence, the homage and the atmosphere is really reminiscent of NIGHTCRAWLER, one of the greatest thriller of all time. Aubrey Plaza plays a superb role effortlessly shifting to the role of an anti-hero, a victim of our time and society. The slow build up sets the tone and it pays off immensely by the end. There isn't really much wrong with it but there also isn't much that stands out. If you're aware of what you're getting into you're going to appreciate this one for what it is, a very good atmospheric thriller like NIGHTCRAWLER.

Wrong casting but still a good movie
21 May 2022
If you've never played, watched, heard or even seen anything UNCHARTED before then you'll definitely like this one. If you can ignore or look past the casting or source accuracy then you'll most definitely like this one.

Lucky for me I watch ComicBookMovies regularly and thus have extensive experience in letting source material take a back seat. So I actually quite enjoyed it and had a great fun time watching it despite all my previous slanders. Its much better than what I was expecting. Altho as I said the casting is plain wrong.

Its a solid action adventure with a good budget and decent action scenes with few nods and homage to the game franchise sprinkled throughout.

Best Videogame Movie Franchise
4 May 2022
There are many movies that make you laugh after every 10 seconds or so thanks to the MCU. But very few movies actually make you smile from ear to ear the entire runtime. Its warm, hearty, emotional, fun and pays proper homage to its roots. I'm not even a fan of the game yet here I am singing its praise.

Seriously if there was any doubt what the best videogame movie/franchise is SONIC 2 just settled that debate. To think of all the videogames with the potential to be blockbuster hits and a classic run&gun platformer would end up taking the title for the best videogame movie franchise.

SONIC 2 is SONIC 1 but better, bigger and more fun. Amazing cast with amazing performance all around the board. Miles being voiced by the original VA, Idris Elba as a phenomenal Knuckles and John Ralphio(Ben Schwartz) being a fantastic Sonic yet again. People talk about people born to play a role should start talking about people born to voice a role too. Jim Carrey at the height of his talent brings everything to the table with his usual shenanigans, would not be a bad way to retire looking at how Robotnik might just be the most Jim Carrey-esque role ever. Great supporting cast with memorable moments. Amazing chemistry, dialogue, visuals, action and humor. Really well paced and a solid overall movie, as far as popcorn flicks go it doesn't get much better than this.

A must watch for people regardless of gender, age, race or beliefs. If you have eyes, ears and a functioning brain you will enjoy it and you will love it. Best videogame movie franchise without a doubt. Also stay for the credits since there is sequel baiting altho depends if you want to see "that" character in the movie.

Not bad really
12 January 2022
Overall its not a bad movie in anyway esp if you have never even read the comics. But its far from the best no doubt. The score and the visuals on display were great as was majority of the fightscenes. It heavily suffers from the lack of a solid lead character but the supporting cast does their job to cover it the best they can. A decent setup for the future and a commendable introduction of the Celestials, Deviants and the Eternals to the MCU.

Far from the worst the MCU has to offer but not top10 material either. A little more color, soul and respect for its source could've really helped the movie stand out.

RATING: 6.5/10 (obviously deducting points for not honoring the creation and vision of Jack Kirby)

A new low for videogame movies
21 December 2021
Let me say what I did like. I thought Kaya Scodelario as Claire and Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield looked the part. The Spencer mansion and Police station entrance looked identical to the games.

Thats it. Nothing worked, its very rare to see a movie this bad in present day. Most movies are 5/10 throwaway popcorn sellers which are a good fun time but not memorable at all. This movie wasn't even a popcorn flick, it was so bad that the first Resident Evil movie feels like Reservoir Dogs now.

Trying to smoosh both RE1 and RE2 in the same movie and they botched both. Pitiful casting for Jill and Leon, which are without doubt the most popular characters in Resident Evil franchise. And the script? Looks like something made by a pre-pubescent edgy teen who likes to drop the F-bomb wherever he can. I really want to know if it was in a competition with THE WOLF OF WALLSTREET as to who can drop the most F-bombs.

Garbage cinematography, extremely poorly directed and choppily edited. One of the most infuriatingly bad movie I've watched in a long time. If you're going to make a bad movie atleast make it enjoyable or campy so that atleast its "so bad its good". This couldn't even do that being all self-serious. Just goes to show we took the Paul Anderson movies for granted.

A disgrace to the franchise that bastardizes its iconic characters at every step, not that the characters looked recognizable anyway. Bloated plot, amateur cinematography, incohesive storytelling and a script written by a 5th grade truckdriver are the least of its worries. This is as bad as it can get, truly a deplorable and disgusting adaptation that never should've seen the light of day.

RATING: 2/10.

Expectations were met, expectations were exceeded. A movie made by a fan for the fans. The best Spider-Man liveaction movie just for the scale alone and finally a strong competitor for the much beloved INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE

Absolutely no chance of disappointment, so rush to your nearest theatre and stay spoiler free as much as possible. And thank you to the people who made this film possible.

Its not even a Spider-Man movie
16 December 2021
This is the movie that killed any interest I had for No Way Home.

First of lets get the positives out of the way because those are very few. I liked Jake Gyllenhaal and Mysterio, I liked the Mysterio illusion sequence.

Thats it, everything else was terrible. This movie shouldn't exist and its such a throwaway CGI dumpster that if this movie was erased no one would care or protest. They made this movie just to cash in on the Spider-Man name, which is odd since this isn't even a Spider-Man movie. This is EuroTrip featuring Iron-Boy Jr, even talking about this movie irks me.

This movie is like anime filler episodes, its there and you might have a few laughs and enjoy it. But you would never go back to it or even think about it. This is a filler movie made to work as bridge to NO WAY HOME.

I really don't have anything to say about this movie. Its a movie made to sell popcorn. A disgrace to the Spider-Man name and all that makes the character lovable. Tony Stark isn't even in this one but this is literally Iron-Man 4 where Iron-Man is dead and Tom Holland plays WEEKEND AT BERNIES with Stark sunglass. Least favorite Spider-Man movie by a country mile

The Friendly in the "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man"
16 December 2021
What can I say its a really fun movie that knows when to be serious. The best portrayal of the Friendly Neighborhood side of Spider-Man so far and thus its full of quirky and lovable charms. Tom Holland really is the best of both worlds and altho the MCU Spider-Man movies have a lot of problems and shifts it makes sense and somehow works

My biggest gripes have to be the inclusion of Tony Stark. He's not in it a lot but his influence is sadly everywhere. That is what bugs me, Spider-Man in the MCU is literally Iron-Boy Jr which goes against everything Spider-Man is in the comics. Spider-Man is selfmade and makes his own gears, he strictly protects his identity from his closed ones and smiles through the pain no matter what happens.

This movie threw almost everything that defines Spider-Man out the window in order to seamlessly integrate to the MCU and even tho it works in this universe, its a betrayal to the character. Not saying I don't enjoy the changes because I do but it would've been much better if Peter Parker was allowed to grow himself instead of living under Stark charity.

What it does get right is the friendly neighborhood side of him and its a blast to watch Tom Holland nail the role. The absolutely right man for the job and he embraces the role and acts ring around everyone in the cast. Peter is understandably much younger than the other iterations which also explains why Aunt May is also young and hot. Even tho its not different from the comics it really does work in the MCU so I'll let it slide, plus its Marisa Tomei.

What I don't like are the casting of MJ and Ned, these two don't work for me at all. Ned is infinitely more bearable and also kinda charming and fun at times. But MJ straight up doesn't work and is absolutely nothing like the Spider girls in any media really.

There is a distinct boyish charm and its very lighthearted. Only time it gets serious is when Michael Keaton is on screen as Vulture. A solid casting that is responsible for the movie having a very smooth fun to intense transition. One of the better written villains of the MCU and definitely the biggest star of the show alongside Tom Holland. The car intimidation scene is one of the best scenes in the MCU and you really feel the tension. And since the movie is very breezy up until now it has proper impact.

Not enough credit can be given to Tom Holland who displays his superior acting chop whenever possible. Especially during the rubble scene. Not the origin movie people were expecting but its more like coming of age. The tech stuff altho not fitting with Spider-Man does give Jennifer Connelly voicing the suit and well I can't say no to that. Not because she was the perfect one to voice a female AI(after maybe Liv Tyler) but she was hilarious.

Overall I'm very fond of this movie and altho I really do believe the presence of Tony Stark muddles Spider-Man as a character. It does work in universe and people not familiar with the comics are going to have no issues with that either. I can put down my purist googles if I had fun and it works, because it definitely works and always a fun to rewatch.

Alright this might be biased but I really love this movie. I know its the universally disliked one and probably the lowest rated of any Spider-Man movie but I just love it.

Not saying it is without flaw because there sure are a lot of them really. First of all I'm not a fan of the casting of the villains, it just doesn't work for me at all. Which is weird because these were all comic accurate, certainly more accurate than the Sam Raimi villains but the casting doesn't work for me. I guess I might be too attached to the James Franco Harry. DeHaan as Goblin/Hary was the weakest part of the film for me, so much so that had it been completely removed I would've loved it even more and rated it much higher too. It was poorly acted and didn't transition well on the big screen. Jamie Foxx as Electro was certainly more bearable but nothing to write home about. The script is still a letdown and it is messy at times even tho plot progression is not too bad.

That is where the negatives end for me and as you guessed it the positives far outshine the negatives. This movie has my favorite score in a Spider-Man movie so far. That Electro theme and the battle music is hands down my favorite piece of audio in any Spider-Man property. The whole movie feels like a videogame and that is a good thing here. It does come off understandably cheesy but it really helps with making Spider-Man be at his best. The powerplant synthesizer battle is also something that tickles the nerd bone. It is an inferior movie in almost every aspect but it is a very good Spider-Man movie. It encapsulates everything we associate with Spider-Man.

The fight scenes were as good as ever altho messy at times. But what makes this movie stand up is the amount of iconic moments, something the first movie seriously lacked. One of the most iconic event in Spider-Man canon with excellent gut punch and visceral acting that is often not seen in superhero movies. Excellent chemistry between Andrew and Emma is still the cornerstone of the Marc Webb series. It is also the most comic accurate Spider-Man movie so far even tho it didn't do the movie any favor.

Its honestly everything Peter Parker is, all complex emotions presented in movie runtime. This movie gets Spider-Man absolutely right, it understands the character. The opening and closing scene are the perfect representation of Spider-Man as a character. If the last movie was for the comic fans this one is for the videogame fans for sure. I'm a fan of both so worked great for me. There are several moments that I wish were cut from the movie and characters axed altogether, then comes scene where my face glows up because I can see the directors understanding and love for the character. Fan of Tobey Maguire Spider-Man are going to have a hard time with it no doubt but if you're a fan of Spider-Man in all forms and media then you're going to love this despite its glaring issues

RATING: 8.5/10.

You need to be a comic fan to appreciate it fully

Doesn't quite reach the highs of the Sam Raimi films but not bad in anyway. Gets the vibe of a Spider-Man just right which other films fails to do so. The duality of Peter the highschooler and Spider-Man the superhero was very much front and centre even tho not all it does works

For starters an infinitely better Spider-Man than Tobey Maguire. When I picture Spider-Man from the comics its the closest to Andrew Garfield. Also a very solid Peter Parker but the script lets him down most of the time. The shy, nerdy, quippy and tormented highschool Peter was well handled altho a little less stuttering would've been nice. My only complaint would be Andrew looks older than the age he is supposed to be at times.

One of the best chemistry in a Spider-Man movie with Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone who was perfect in the role. Tobey-Dunst felt very artificial whereas Andrew-Emma is so free flowing and organic. Gwen was always my favorite Spidey girl and this movie proves it

Action scenes have been vastly improved and altho its still CGI looking it gets the Spider-Man fighting style perfectly. Not the best of casting choices for the villain and the lizard design looked weird trying to make it as realistic as possible.

As for the duality aspect it is surprisingly emotional and very well acted for the most part. But the script really doesn't help the actors and the direction also lets it down at times

There is not much wrong with it its just that its not as good as the 1st 2 Raimi films. Don't get me wrong this is a better Spider-Man movie than all the Sam Raimi films but the Sam Raimi films were better movies. Its just not as tight and cohesive even tho it gets Spider-Man closer than all the other attempts. For all its effort it does lack in iconic moments and doesn't have many nostalgic moments as the Sam Raimi run.

Also known as the worst one or the crap one but its actually not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure it was really messy, has pacing issues and tried to fit too many things but it was a good movie. Certainly not as good as the other 2 and has aged the worst in terms of visuals but it works and is perfectly watchable.

If Spider-Man 2 was the burden of the mask then Spider-Man 3 is the arrogance that comes with fame, which has mixed result. The Emo Parker scene is almost universally hated but its my absolute favorite part of the movie and one of my favorite moments in any Spider-Man media be it movies, games, cartoon, animated or even comics. I will always love that part of the movie and maybe thats why I'm more fond of this movie than most other.

Obvious problem was Venom which was just bad, it was absolutely unwatchable and its such a shame too since so far Sam Raimi has nailed the essence of every Spider-Man villain up until now. Compared to Tom Hardy Venom this is the equivalent of Facepaint Deadpool from the Wolverine movie.

But everything else was fine. And its not as bad as people remember it to be. But it has to be said that it feels lacking when it comes to being a trilogy ender. Could've used another movie to properly wrap up the Sam Raimi run.

RATING: 7.5/10.
