“Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin” has been canceled at Peacock despite the fact the show was previously renewed for a second season.
The spinoff of the “Pitch Perfect” film franchise originally debuted on Peacock in November 2022 and was renewed in January 2023. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the decision was made to cancel the series as the ongoing strikes in Hollywood meant that production was not able to begin as originally scheduled.
The series saw Adam Devine return as Bumper Allen as he moves to Germany to revive his music career when one of his songs becomes big in Berlin. Along with Devine, the cast of Season 1 included Flula Borg, Sarah Hyland, Lera Abova and Jameela Jamil. Per NBCU, the series scored the biggest comedy premiere in Peacock history, as it was watched by more accounts in its launch weekend than any other Peacock Original comedy to date.

Get aca-excited, because the new "Pitch Perfect" spin-off series, "Bumper in Berlin," is coming our way. The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

The Directors Guild of America (DGA) announced the television nominations for the 2020 DGA Awards on Monday, honoring “Ted Lasso,” “WandaVision,” and “The Queen’s Gambit” as examples of some of the finest directorial work that the medium has to offer.
Both Comedy and Drama categories saw complete turnover in nominees from 2019, with none of the series honored last year airing episodes during the window of eligibility in 2020. Therefore the celebration is guaranteed to get an injection of fresh blood, a welcome development with any awards body.
Curiously, the wide open field allowed for some surprising series to garner their first ever DGA nominations, including AMC’s “Better Call Saul” and Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.”
Also announced today were the DGA Award nominations for Documentary, including nods for “Boys State” and “The Truffle Hunters.”

2017 should hopefully have some terrific comedies. Fist Fight, starring Ice Cube and Charlie Day, is not one of them.
At one point during Fist Fight, the new comedy starring Ice Cube and Charlie Day, I could only think of Step Brothers, an inverted Bugsy Malone that casts adults as childish characters and stands up as Adam McKay's masterpiece. Although there's plenty of comic mileage in adults acting like kids, Fist Fight is sadly not a patch on those farcical heights.
The film takes place at Roosevelt High School, an inner city school where budget cuts have left the entire faculty fearing for their jobs, and also fearing the students' designated Senior Pranks Day on the last day of term. As English teacher Mr. Campbell (Day) observes, the pranks don't really seem like pranks - mostly, they involve criminal damage and horse-kidnapping.
History teacher Mr. Strickland (Cube) is having none...

With some of the best episodes of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia under his belt (Mac Day, The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre), director Richie Keen is making the jump to the big screen with Fist Fight, teaming up once again with Charlie Day for a crude, high concept comedy about two teachers who plan to fight each other at the end of the school day. But even with some serious comedy muscle behind it, Fist Fight collapse under the weight of lazy storytelling and humour that is more miss than hit. It’s the last day of school at Roosevelt High School, and the teachers are at the mercy of the students who are running wild with increasingly chaotic pranks. While mild mannered English teacher Mr. Campbell (Day) is just trying to get through the day, hard ass history teacher Mr. Strickland (Ice Cube) intimates his students into behaving.

Ice Cube and Charlie Day play teachers who opt for an after-school ruckus in this rowdy but bland comedy
Charting the chaos that follows from aggrieved history teacher Ice Cube challenging meek colleague Charlie Day to an after-school ruckus, this fitful timewaster doubles rowdily down on all its flimsy-to-questionable ideas. Someone involved clearly believed there’s still mileage in watching grown men behaving like big kids, and that Day – whose oddball delivery on TV’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia remains a wonder – should be taking on those bland milquetoast roles rejected by Jason Bateman. Fleeting snickers result, but fellow Sunny parolee Richie Keen can’t hold a scene long enough for anybody to find a rhythm, let alone convert a looming backdrop of mass education layoffs into the basis of a socko funfest.

The premise to Richie Keen’s Fist Fight is simple, to a point where it’s hard to fathom quite how it’s sustained a feature length narrative. It’s, quite literally, about two men having a fight, and in the most contrived way imaginable that is stretched out across 90 painfully unfunny minutes, with the one paramount, lone joke being that of teachers acting more immaturely than the students they educate. And believe me, it gets tedious pretty quickly.
Charlie Day plays Andy Campbell, a beleaguered high school teacher who remains perpetually bemused, and almost impressed, with the sheer level of irresponsibility in the pranks pulled by his students. Fearing his job may be on the line, and with a pregnant wife at home, life is somewhat stressful – and it’s made even more so when he finds himself in the principle’s office next to the...

New comedy Fist Fight stars Ice Cube and Charlie Day as school teachers who embark on a fist fight after Day’s character is accused of getting Cube’s character fired. Critics, for the most part, are unimpressed with this Richie Keen flick. The film scored a meager 34% on rottentomatoes.com, though the audience rating is slightly better, at 58%. While […]

Thanks to Tracy Morgan, the set of Fist Fight was an educational one.
Director Richie Keen stopped by The Hollywood Reporter to talk about his new R-rated comedy, which stars Charlie Day and Ice Cube as high school teachers that are fated to fight on the last day of school.
Fist Fight also stars Jillian Bell, Kumail Nanjiani and Christina Hendricks, and marks Morgan's first film since his near-fatal 2014 car accident.
During filming, Keen remembers Morgan dispensing his wisdom to his co-stars, as well as the hundreds of teenage extras on-set. "Tracy Morgan would finish a scene, he'd take off his button down...

Charlie Day owns one of the highest-pitched male squeaks in the business and he puts it to hilarious use on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I could watch him in anything – but Fist Fight is pushing it, given that's it's always raining a storm of comic clichés that quickly drowns any semblance of audience goodwill.
Day plays Mr. Campbell, a dweeb English teacher at Atlanta's Roosevelt High where it's senior prank day and our man is getting rattled. Forget the meth-drugged horse running through the halls or the dick images...
