The news is out about a potential Happy Gilmore 2, and Adam Sandler mentioned several actors he wants to cameo in the anticipated sequel.
They are The Price Is Right host Drew Carey and longtime journalist and TV personality Dan Patrick.
In the 1996 classic comedy, Sandler played the title character, a hockey player turned golfer. Christopher McDonald played his rival, Shooter McGavin, and let it slip last month that a sequel was in development.
Additional Happy Gilmore cast included Julie Bowen, Carl Weathers, Kevin Nealon, and professional golfer Lee Trevino.
A memorable appearance and line involved the late Bob Barker, who hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years.
Following the big sequel news leaked last month via McDonald, Sandler appeared on The Dan Patrick Show to discuss the movie’s status.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s attempt to justify his ludicrous threat to have President Joe Biden removed from the state’s electoral ballot spiraled into chaos over the most basic of questions: “How so?”
During a Monday interview with CNN’s Boris Sanchez, the Republican was asked how he justified his threats to have Biden removed from the state’s ballot in retaliation for recent attempts to remove Trump from state ballots on grounds that his actions in the aftermath of the 2020 election constitute insurrection. The constitutionality of...

Cheating pays — for Bart and Homer, that is. This Sunday’s episode of “The Simpsons” takes on sports cheating, college admissions scandals (like “Varsity Blues”) and more, as father and son become kings of the blue-collar sports circuit. But in “Do the Wrong Thing,” Marge soon suspects that there’s something dishonest going on.
“It airs this Sunday right after the Cowboys/Dolphins game – a good lead-in and also sort of appropriate since the episode is about cheating and I suspect the NFL game will be won by cheating,” quips episode writer Joel H. Cohen.
Dan Patrick makes a guest voice appearance in the episode, which is timely given the recent University of Michigan football sign-stealing cheating scandal, and other allegations of cheating in smaller contests. In the B-story, Lisa attempts to get into summer camp, and that storyline plays with the headlines about college admissions cheating scandals.

On December 5, House Speaker Mike Johnson delivered a speech at this year’s National Association of Christian Lawmakers gala.
During his speech, he thanked the event’s organizers for not inviting any reporters, though it has not been made clear if he knew that the event’s organizer would record and post a video of the gala on his Facebook page.
“I’ll tell you a secret since the media’s not here,” Johnson told them.
His secret was that he had many conversations with God in the lead-up to the speaker role with which he was anointed.
“The Lord impressed upon my heart a few weeks before this happened that something was going to occur,” he said. “And the Lord very specifically told me in my prayers to prepare but to wait. I had this sense that we were going to come to a Red Sea moment in our...

Sports fans tend to feel proprietary about their heroes, as if stars owed us more than the heroics and physical sacrifice they provide on the field or court. The better the athlete, the more we expect and demand. So, when all-world Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders announced his retirement in 1998, after ten exemplary seasons with a largely losing team, fans were angry. How dare he? Doesn’t he know we love watching him? Some of the aggrievement was due to the way Sanders walked away, with a fax (remember those?...

The United States was founded on the separation of church and state. It’s in the Constitution and everything. The Republican Party has long been working to dismantle this principle — sometimes by gesturing toward Christian nationalism, and sometimes, in the case of the Texas state Senate, by trying to write it into law.
The legislative body approved a bill on Thursday that wouldn’t just permit the state’s public schools to display the 10 Commandments; it would require them to do so and to do so prominently.

In the last 20 years, headshot photographer Andy Rooney has seen trends come and go. The latest? Since January this year, almost every client he’s shot — well over 100 — has wanted to fashion themselves as a “Yellowstone” cowboy.
“Almost everybody I’ve shot so far in the past few months has been shooting those looks as an addition to whatever they’re shooting,” Rooney told IndieWire. “Even people I wouldn’t even have thought would vibe with that. Everybody wants that.”
Welcome to The Sheridan Effect. Right now, everybody wants a part of Taylor Sheridan and his ever-growing roster of Western-themed shows that began with “Yellowstone” and now includes spinoffs “1883” and “1923” and the upcoming “Land Man,” “Bass Reeves,” and “6666.” (Not to mention “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Tulsa King.”) However, it goes much deeper than acting work; the Sheridan Effect is shaping everything from corporate strategies to government policy.

The state of Texas is vying to introduce new tax benefits for filmmakers thanks, in part, to the success of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone series.
The Western drama starring Kevin Costner was filmed in the small town of Venus, Texas, providing a vital boost to the local economy.
However, many TV shows and films set in Texas are not actually filmed there because surrounding states offer more attractive tax incentives to producers.
In 2022, the entertainment industry pumped $1.5bn (£1.22bn) into the economies of New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma, according to The Hollywood Reporter, much of which was spent on projects set in Texas.
These states have similar natural environments to Texas, but with more attractive tax incentives.
New Mexico, for example, offers filmmakers refundable tax credits of 25 to 35 per cent on in-state spending up to $110m (£89.6m).
If the new bill, introduced in the Texas state legislature on 7 March, is passed,...

For studios, the best part about shooting in New Mexico might be how it looks so much like Texas.
That’s why Taylor Sheridan’s Hell or Hell High Water chose to shoot in New Mexico, as did Walker: Independence, King Rex and other projects looking for generous helpings of tax incentives to film in the state on top of desert valleys and wooded mountains mimicking Texas.
Texas is flanked by states known for offering robust tax credits to lure film and TV productions. The entertainment industry in 2022 pumped more than $1.5 billion into the economies of New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma, much of it for titles set in Texas but unable to shoot in the state due to its middling incentive program. Now, lawmakers are looking to court Hollywood. A bill introduced in the state legislature on March 7 proposes to supplement Texas’ existing grant program with a new, uncapped scheme...

For some people, it's important to look tough on screen as part of their brand. You wouldn't imagine Bruce Lee getting the crap kicked out of him, for instance, right? These days, some actors even have it worked into their contract that they simply cannot lose a fight in their movies. Most famously, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Jason Statham each had that stipulation included while working on the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
But in the grand tradition of Hollywood tough guys concerned about image, there's one name you can add to the list who you'd probably never expect: Bob Barker. Yes, the longtime host of "The Price is Right" made it very clear that if he was going to appear in Adam Sandler's golf comedy "Happy Gilmore," there was no way he was going to get K.O.'ed by Sandler's hockey player-turned-pro golfer. And while it's a...

NBC viewers were already seeing a lot of Maria Taylor on Sundays. Now they can be assured of seeing even more.
Taylor, the up-and-coming sportscaster who left ESPN last year for NBC Sports, was named host of “Football Night in America,” the show that precedes “Sunday Night Football” and garners one of the network’s biggest weekly audiences. She becomes the series’ first full-time female host, and becomes the latest in an impressive series of sports announcers to fill the role, including Bob Costas and Dan Patrick.

Exclusive: Campside Media, the company behind Chameleon: The Hollywood Con Queen podcast, has found another wild story to tell in audio form – this time featuring NASCAR, true crime, and civil rights.
The Sister-backed company has teamed with sports broadcaster Dan Patrick and iHeartRadio on Running Smoke.
The series, which is hosted by journalist Rajiv Golla, follows the colorful saga of Derek White, a native of the Kahnawake reservation, who made his professional racing debut in 2015 as the first indigenous driver to race at NASCAR. Less than a year later, White was banned from the racing after being arrested in one of the largest tobacco smuggling busts in Canadian history when a border sting erupted and ensnared everyone in its path. Now, White is fighting to clear his name in court and stands as a very unlikely native rights warrior — at the center of a sovereignty fight he never really wanted in the first place.

“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek passed away on Nov. 8 and left behind an amazing legacy. We’ve compiled a list of nine interesting things you probably didn’t know about the longtime television personality from a new biography written by Lisa Rogak called “Who Is Alex Trebek?” out now from Macmillan Publishers.
He was a troublemaker in his youth
In his teen years, Trebek was sent to a Catholic boarding school after his parents separated. There, he was nearly expelled over disagreements with one of his teachers.
He nearly became a priest
In college, Trebek considered becoming a priest and went so far as to spend a summer at a Trappist monastery. But it was the vow of silence that changed his mind. He later said, “I’m not one to keep my big mouth shut.”
He’s a clean-freak
After quitting his job of 12 years at the CBC, he moved to Los Angeles.

Michael Sugar, best known for producing “Spotlight” and “13 Reasons Why,” is launching an office in Washington D.C., for his production company Sugar23.
The move, announced on Wednesday, makes Sugar23 one of the first major L.A. production companies to anchor itself in the country’s capital and political center.
“We believe that D.C. is the epicenter for law, politics, philanthropy and global policy; stories naturally emerge from that epicenter, and so not having a viable footprint there is antithetical to our cause,” Sugar said.

There’s no crying in baseball, but there were plenty of teary eyes while shooting the final episode of Brockmire.
“I didn’t really plan on tearing up myself, but I think the combination of ending it all and just the beauty of the moment overtook me and I got really choked up on a couple of takes,” says star Hank Azaria as he recalls the emotional final scene.
“I was really gratified to look up and see everybody on the crew wiping their eyes at the end of it too. John Oliver is furious with President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. On Sunday, the “Last Week Tonight” host called the federal response to the domestic spread of Covid-19 “appalling,” saying the government “wasted so much time that we could have spent preparing” for the crisis.
They also “massively botched the rollout of testing,” he said.
No argument here, but some Republican politicians and pundits would almost surely take exception to that criticism. For starters, there is the lieutenant governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, who has said that many older Americans would gladly risk their lives in an effort to stabilize the American economy for their children and grandchildren.
“If you really want to die so the U.S. economy can boom, we already have a system in place for that and it’s called Black Friday — have at it,” Oliver quipped last night from the (relative) safety of his own home.

Joe Scarborough lashed out at conservatives who want Americans to stop self-isolating and return to work amid the ongoing coronovirus pandemic, accusing them of being “ready to euthanize” the elderly.
“Right now, these conservatives are making Democrats who are pro-choice actually look more pro-life because they’re only worried about the unborn,” he said on his MSNBC morning show Thursday. “It is the born — it is the weakest among us, it is senior citizens — who they’re ready to euthanize because they want Boeing’s corporate earnings to not dip too low.”
Scarborough referred to an article in the New York Times that said a lawyer close to President Donald Trump advised him to get the country back to work in spite of the ongoing pandemic because, well, old people die anyway.

Fox News’ Brit Hume defended comments from Texas lieutenant governor Dan Patrick Tuesday night, saying it is “entirely reasonable” that elderly Americans could be fine with dying amid the coronavirus outbreak to save the U.S. economy.
“The utter collapse of the country’s economy — which many think will happen if this goes on much longer — is an intolerable result,” the 76-year-old told primetime host Tucker Carlson. “[Patrick] is saying, for his own part, that he would be willing to take a risk of getting the disease if that’s what it took to allow the economy to move forward.
