Elon Musk’s X platform is continuing its video push, launching a dedicated app for smart TV sets.
The X video app launched Tuesday, with the company touting a handful of key features, including a trending video algorithm, artificial intelligence-powered trending topics and cross-device compatibility, so users can start watching on their phone and continue watching on TV.
The X TV app will not have any ads at launch, according to a note sent to the company’s corporate partners Tuesday.
“We’re focusing on launching this new feature for consumers first, but we do plan to monetize it, and will discuss different forms of partnerships — and that may include ads,” the note said.
The company also posted a preview video of the video experience, providing a brief glimpse of the TV app. The videos included in the preview video included Tucker Carlson’s interview with Vladimir Putin and footage...

Independent presidential candidate Rober F. Kennedy Jr. has little chance of winning the 2024 election, but that isn’t stopping him from weighing in on the de facto Republican and Democratic nominees: former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
On Monday, Kennedy told CNN that — in his view — Biden represents a bigger threat to American democracy than Trump, who attempted to overturn his election loss in 2020.
Burnett: When people talk about the threat to democracy that Trump poses, do you really think that that is as equal to Biden?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has selected Silicon Valley attorney turned philanthropist Nicole Shanahan as his running mate in an early-announcement move as the independent presidential hopeful seeks to get his name on ballots in all 50 states for his White House bid.
Kennedy, son of the former U.S. attorney general and senator from New York who was assassinated in 1968, announced that Shanahan would join his campaign at a rally in Oakland on Tuesday. The announcement of a running mate decision this early is a strategic move that looks to assuage some of the concerns around his ballot access in half of the country.
“Nicole has put her interest aside and made the momentous and very, very difficult decision to embark with me on this extraordinary crusade to win back our country,” Kennedy said while introducing Shanahan as his running mate. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has decided on a vice presidential running mate from a short list that includes NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura. According to his campaign manager, Kennedy is close to announcing his pick.
Other prospective candidates include Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and motivational speaker Tony Robbins, according to two anonymous people with knowledge of the campaign.
Not everyone on Kennedy’s list has agreed to run with him. Paul said that he would decline an offer to be on the presidential ticket.
“I’m supportive of his ability to have a platform to speak out,” Paul said. “I think he’s saying a lot of good things. But I have no plans to get involved in the campaign.”
Similarly, Gabbard has stopped cooperating with Kennedy’s campaign and has seemingly turned her attention to former President Donald Trump’s.

Days after Don Lemon said that Elon Musk canceled his partnership with X hours after conducting an interview with the tech mogul, the former CNN anchor on Monday dropped the first episode of The Don Lemon Show on YouTube and podcast streaming platforms, featuring a contentious interview with Musk.
Throughout their conversation, Lemon brought up questions related to Musk’s drug use, his affiliations with Donald Trump, advertisers pulling ads off X, hate speech on the app and other topics that the South African businessman appeared to deem troublesome.
Ten minutes into the interview, following a discussion about Musk’s political leanings, Lemon noted that the X owner recently met with Trump in Florida and asked what they spoke about. “I was at a breakfast at a friend’s place and Donald Trump came by—that’s it,” Musk said. Don Lemon, who was fired from CNN last year after 17 years at the network, had been working with Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) to launch a new talk show on the platform.
Now, according to Lemon, Musk has nixed the partnership — coming just a few hours after Lemon interviewed the tech mogul last week.
“Elon Musk has canceled the partnership I had with X, which they announced as part of their public commitment to amplifying more diverse voices on their platform,” Lemon said in a statement posted Wednesday on X. “He informed me of his decision hours after an interview I conducted with him on Friday. That interview will remain the premiere episode of ‘The Don Lemon Show’ on Monday, March 18.”
A rep for Lemon told Variety, “Don has a deal with X and he expects to be paid for it. If we have to go to court, we will.

Don Lemon won’t be bringing a show to Elon Musk’s X platform, after all.
Lemon on Wednesday said that Musk “has canceled the partnership I had with X … he informed me of his decision hours after an interview I conducted with him on Friday.”
The interview with Musk is slated to be the debut episode of The Don Lemon Show, which was supposed to debut on X (formerly known as Twitter) and YouTube. Lemon says the interview will run as planned on YouTube, and that future episodes will be released there.
Lemon said that “there were no restrictions” in the interview, and that “we had a good conversation. Clearly he felt differently.”
Replying to a comment on X, Musk said that they canceled the show because “his approach was basically just ‘CNN, but on social media’, which doesn’t work, as evidenced by the fact that CNN is dying.

At a town hall event held in Greenville, South Carolina, Donald Trump revealed his list of potential running mates and reaffirmed his influence within the Republican Party. In a conversation with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Trump discussed the speculated candidates on his vice presidential shortlist.
Among the names mentioned were three former GOP candidates: Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina), entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida). Trump also confirmed the inclusion of Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Florida), Gov. Kristi Noem (R-South Dakota) and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii).
Though a Democrat while in Congress, in 2022 Gabbard announced that she had shifted her views toward conservatism and has been a frequent guest on Fox News.

X is getting into the ring with the WWE.
The Elon Musk-owned social platform, previously known as Twitter, has signed a two-year deal with the WWE for a new exclusive weekly video series. Called WWE Speed, the concept will feature timed matches meant to be completed in five minutes or less.
The series, which is planned to be live to tape, will debut this spring, and will feature WWE superstars from across its roster. The content will be exclusive (the matches will not be repurposed from other WWE programming), with new episodes debuting 52 weeks per year.
The deal marks a significant push into entertainment for X, which announced a 10-show deal with Range Media Partners last month, as well as new shows from former CNN host Don Lemon, sports talk host Jim Rome, and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

Depending on whom you ask, Don Lemon is planting his feet firmly in media’s next frontier. Or its last one.
The former CNN star anchor is the latest in a parade of onetime TV-news personnel to dip their toes into the entrepreneurial waters of digital and social media. He announced in early January that he would launch “The Don Lemon Show” on X, part of a bid to build a broader media outlet. “Don is extremely passionate about launching his own media company,” says Oren Rosenbaum, partner and head of audio at UTA, which represented Lemon in his deal with the social-media giant. “His first priority is the show, and as that becomes more and more successful, he will build a business around that and become a platform for other voices.”
Lemon isn’t alone. Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News opinion host, is using X for similar goals.

Last week, Elon Musk urged MrBeast to post his videos on X. MrBeast swiftly declined, saying that the creator payouts X provides just aren’t enough to make posting there worth it.
“My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it,” he said.
Now Musk is saying that X will bump up the amount of money creators make in 2024.
He paused between dozens of tweets endorsing conspiracy theories and complaining about the “woke mind virus” to tell a user named DogeDesigner that “[c]reator rewards will increase significantly this year.”
He didn’t give specifics–not that surprising, considering X has never divulged exactly what the revenue split for creators is.
He also didn’t specifically say this change is because MrBeast turned him down, but it’s no secret X is trying to court big creators.

Scott Cawthon's "Five Nights at Freddy's" is one of horror's greatest Cinderella stories. A video game developer known for making faith-based entertainment had an unlikely hit with his independently made point-and-click survival horror game, turning a relative no-name into arguably the biggest indie gaming success story. "FNaF" has become a multi-media franchise that made Cawthon a multi-millionaire, which is expected to continue after the release of the game's film adaptation from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.
Jason Blum spoke with Fandom about the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie, saying "That game has a rabid fan base and I would say, without Scott [Cawthon], it wouldn't make a good movie." Cawthon has been intimately involved with production from the beginning, including forcing a full script rewrite, and as the creator of the franchise, his involvement feels vital.
But that interview was conducted six years ago and a lot has changed since Blum first made those comments.

“SNL” has been off the air for a month, and that means the show’s writers missed the chance to parody a ton of big news items that broke during the break. Fox News anchor Dana Perino has a time-tested idea for House Republicans who can’t seem to decide on a speaker, an approach proved through centuries of trial and error by generations of statesmen.
“The Five” host says they should get hammered and hammer it out.
Perino, speaking Wednesday as a panelist on “The Five,” addressed the latest setback for the Republicans, who earlier in the day were unable to elect a House leader after Kevin McCarthy failed to garner enough votes for a second straight day after a sixth vote.
“Today there was no movement towards Kevin McCarthy. There was a slight movement back,” Perino started out, downplaying the obvious as the show’s hosts often do to humorous effect (whether the laughter is with them or at them is a topic for another time).

Republican congressman-elect George Santos didn’t do himself any favors on Tuesday when he appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” as part of his efforts to salvage his reputation after being exposed as a serial liar. Santos clearly expected a softball interview from a friendly media outlet; instead, he was grilled like rainbow trout by guest host Tulsi Gabbard.
Pressed by Gabbard about the many lies he’s told about his background and personal life, he was left almost sputtering by the time she ended the excruciating 6 minutes-long interview. But not before he compounded his rapidly decaying situation with more lies, much dissembling, and even an attempt to deflect criticism by insulting voters. No, really.
You can watch the whole thing above now, courtesy of Aaron Rupar.
Of course, the reason you even know Santos’ name is because it was only after he was elected in November to the U.S.

But not before he compounded his rapidly decaying situation with more lies, much dissembling, and even an attempt to deflect criticism by insulting voters. No, really.

New York congressman-elect George Santos went on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Tuesday evening after admitting to having “embellished” his résumé and lying about being Jewish.
In his first televised interview since accusations that he had lied about his background surfaced, Santos spoke with guest host Tulsi Gabbard. “I made a mistake,” Santos said during the live recording. “Humans are flawed… I’m having to admit this on national television for the whole country to see.”

"Saturday Night Live" has seen quite the exodus of cast members over the past year. At the end of season 47 back in May, the series bid farewell to Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney. Then, before season 48 began this past fall, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor left the series along with featured player Aristotle Athari. Finally, the last cast member to walk away from the series was Chris Redd, just a couple weeks before the show's season premiere. Unfortunately, one more cast member has announced their departure, and sadly, it will before the end of season 48.
The official "Saturday Night Live" account on Twitter announced that Cecily Strong would be saying farewell.

Tulsi Gabbard, the former congresswoman who recently announced that she has left the Democratic party, is joining Fox News as a paid contributor.
A Fox News spokeswoman confirmed the hire, first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Gabbard filled in for Tucker Carlson on his primetime show on Monday night. She also has been a guest on his show and other Fox News programming.
Gabbard ran for Democratic presidential nomination in the 2020 cycle, forgoing a run for reelection for a Hawaii congressional seat. She’s been critical of the party for being “an elitist cabal of warmongers.” Last month, Sean Hannity pressed her on whether she supports aid to Ukraine in the midst of the Russian invasion last February. Gabbard also met with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad in 2017, which drew criticism as the U.S. had no diplomatic relations with the leader, who other lawmakers called a war criminal.

Jimmy Kimmel was delighted on Monday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” about the results of the midterm election, and especially about how a lot of Republicans seem to be blaming Donald Trump for the historic failure of Republicans to muster up a “red wave.”
In his monologue, Kimmel first joked that Trump’s weekend was emotional both because of his daughter, Tiffany’s wedding, and the massive failures of his endorsed candidates. “He gave away a daughter and the Senate,” the host joked.
After that, he ran a fake ad for something that might help Republicans trying to get out from under Trump: a nicotine patch designed to break their addiction to Trump.
“On Saturday, Democrats officially won the Senate,” Kimmel noted, thanks to the victory of Democratic candidate Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada. “Her victory gives the Democrats 50 seats, and Vice President Kamala Harris has the tie-breaking vote,...

“This one’s a little different” is what every critic trots out while reviewing a new Marvel movie, as if they’re not all running the same plays to inevitable ends. Yet—unusually somber and slow-paced for an MCU film—Black Panther: Wakanda Forever bears both the pressure of honoring fallen star Chadwick Boseman’s legacy and what it means to be follow-up to a Best Picture-nominated cultural phenomenon. The true “prestige” Marvel picture—and closer to Christopher Nolan or Denis Villeneuve’s blockbusters—it borders on being less a film continuing themes that resonated with audiences and, rather, about itself, resulting in artistic tensions both interesting and frustrating.
Despite bookending itself with memorials for Boseman, Ryan Coogler’s film is oddly lacking time to grieve. With T’Challa gone, it functions more as an ensemble—a particularly Black female-led one that provides ample screentime for a game veteran like Angela Bassett,...

Actor and comedian Rob Schneider says there’s no shortage of conservative right-wingers in Hollywood but that they “fear cancel culture too much to speak up.”
Schneider, donning a bright-blue suit and tie during an appearance Wednesday morning on Fox News, has not been quiet about his political leanings and even moved from San Francisco to Arizona as a result, he says. Asked about former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard’s statements Tuesday about leaving the Democratic party, he said he wasn’t surprised.
“As an actor, you’re always coming from a place of trying to get work. But at a certain point, you know, you have to worry about, I mean, I’m in my 50s now, late 50s — it’s going to catch you too, Brian,” Schneider said, joking to “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade, sitting to the actor’s right. “I worry more about the freedoms of my kids.

The hosts of “The View” came straight for Tucker Carlson to kick things off on Monday morning, criticizing his commentary on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Host Joy Behar went so far as to say Carlson should outright move to Moscow.
On March 3, Carlson walked back some of his original comments on the invasion, saying, “We’ve been taken by surprise by the whole thing. We’re not the only ones who were, but we’re willing to admit it. The only thing more embarrassing than being wrong in your estimates is pretending that you weren’t.”
But, later that week, Carlson accused the Biden administration of actively goading Russia into invading Ukraine. Carlson has repeatedly criticized the Biden administration’s role in this conflict, and on Monday, “The View” guest host Alyssa Farah Griffin called Carlson’s commentary “bizarre” and “un-American.”

#Russia's state TV (Rossiya-1 and Rt) showcases Tucker Carlson's clip, complaining about the use of the Ukrainian flag on social media. Something that both the Kremlin and #TuckyoRose find aggravating.

David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash have issued a statement supporting former bandmate Neil Young in seeking the removal of their music from Spotify in protest of podcaster Joe Rogan.
In the statement posted on Stills’ Twitter page, the trio write, “We support Neil and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify’s Joe Rogan podcast. While we always value alternate points of view, knowingly spreading disinformation during this global pandemic has deadly consequences. Until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don’t want our music – or the music we made together – to be on the same platform.”

Amid the mounting pressure on Spotify over allegations of Covid misinformation presented on its Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the show’s host made an apology of sorts — “if I pissed you off, I’m sorry” — and garnered support from Dwayne Johnson, Kevin James, Jewel, Jamie Kennedy, Tulsi Gabbard, Troy Aikman, Kat Von D, Domanic Monaghan, Candice Owens, Jillian Michaels, Tomi Lahren and Andrew Dice Clay.
All of those boldfaced names responded in the comments section of the Instagram video that Rogan posted Monday in which he said he just likes to have “interesting conversations with people that have differing opinions,” but admitted he doesn’t “always get it right” and promised to “do better.”
He did so in response to criticism from Neil Young and Joni Mitchell aover what they called “fake information about vaccines” presented on his show. Rogan did not go so far as to characterize views expressed on his show as “fake.

The African American Film Critics Association (Aafca) has selected “The Harder They Fall” as the No. 1 film on their annual top 10 list.
Written and directed by Jeymes Samuel and produced by Jay-Z, the big-budget Netflix western sees Idris Elba, Regina King, Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield portray historical Black figures Rufus Buck, Nat Love, Trudy Smith, Stagecoach Mary and Cherokee Bill, respectively.
“Although our top film, ‘The Harder They Fall’ from Netflix is a fictionalized Western,” said Aafca president and co-founder Gil Robertson. “It introduced the world to an incredible array of real-life Black cowboys and cowgirls who helped to transform the West, prompting many to discover the prominent role Black people played in that storied chapter of American history that has been a Hollywood go-to genre.”

On Monday Jimmy Kimmel welcomed his first real live studio audience since the Covid lockdown began in March 2020 — for the last few months, he’s been filming in his L.A. studio but the audience has consisted of his staff and the occasional live in-person guest.
And to celebrate the momentous occasion, he reminded the audience of proper etiquette for watching things live and in person. For instance, “It’s rude to go to sleep during the show, Ok?”
Also, Kimmel shared with his new audience the last joke he delivered to the last pre-covid audience — and it bombed, just like it did last year.
By the way, Kimmel’s audience was only at half capacity due to continuing Covid safety protocols in Los Angeles. But even that number was enough to create a dramatic difference in noise levels from his previous in-studio shows of late.
“Wow — where did all these people come from?...

The firestorm over controversial Netflix film “Cuties,” which led to a huge spike in U.S. customer cancellations following its debut earlier this month, burned out after a few days, according to new data.
“Cuties” tells the story of an 11-year-old Senegalese girl living in Paris who struggles to find her identity, torn between her family’s Muslim traditions and her peer group’s attempts to emulate the sexualized personae of women as portrayed in Western culture and on social media. The film includes scenes of the protagonist, Amy, performing highly sexualized dance routines with the Cuties dance crew and shows the underage characters in other adult situations — and, predictably, a backlash ensued. That caused the hashtag “#CancelNetflix” to trend on Twitter following its Sept. 9 release worldwide on the streaming service.

No foreign film in recent memory has attracted quite as much scrutiny as Netflix’s Cuties. Directed by French-Senegalese filmmaker Maïmouna Doucouré, Cuties, which was a hit when it premiered at Sundance last year, tells the story of an 11-year-old girl, Amy, who strays from her strict conservative and religious Muslim upbringing to join a hip-hop dance troupe. At its essence, Cuties is a coming-of-age narrative and a commentary on social media’s role in sexualizing children, but that was not what the film’s poster — a luridly hued image of made-up prepubescent girls,...

Cecily Strong has always been one of the clutch players on “Saturday Night Live” since she debuted on the series in 2012, but now she is finally getting the credit many have felt she deserves. She just earned her first-ever Emmy nomination this year, getting in alongside her castmate Kate McKinnon in Best Comedy Supporting Actress. Strong submitted the Eddie Murphy episode of the NBC sketch comedy for Emmy consideration, and that episode finds the actress doing some of her best-known impressions.
Strong memorably shows up during the Democratic debate cold open as Sen. Tulsi Gabbard, cackling villainously as she plots a takeover. She also appears as a contestant on “Holiday Baking Championship,” deeply ashamed of the highly inaccurate cake she tried to model off of Elsa from “Frozen.” She appears in the final sketch of the night as an elf in Santa’s workshop who has quite a conspiracy theory about her boss.

At the virtual Democratic Convention on Tuesday night, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seconded Bernie Sanders’ nomination for president. It’s part of the procedure and pageantry of this quadrennial event: Candidates who earn enough votes in the primary have their names and the number of delegates they won recognized during the state-by-state roll call. In 2016, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard nominated Sanders; this year it was former Uaw president Bob King, with an assist from Ocasio-Cortez.
