The episode of Revisited covering Psycho (1998) was Written, Edited, and Narrated by Kier Gomes, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
In the early 1960s, movies like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho were considered to be groundbreaking and controversial works of art that were not for the easily spooked. Stories like that, which tackle deep psychological struggles, paranoia, voyeurism, and even murder- were far from the horror genre’s mainstay creature features that were capturing audiences at the time. The movie was based on Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel which was published just in time for Hitchcock to purchase every copy in the United States right off the shelves of book stores in order to preserve the shock value of the story’s iconic twist ending. With Psycho, the gilded status “Classic” is certainly well-earned and maybe even a slight understatement. The movie flawlessly captures the...

When Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg took the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, they brought a lot of history with them. After all, this is the team that gave the world “Nuthin but a ‘G’ Thang,” the Doggystyle album, “Still D.R.E.,” the 2000 Up in Smoke arena tour, and one of the all-time-great Coachella sets back in 2012. Without any doubt, they are one of the mightiest duos in rap history, rivaled only by the likes of Outkast, Run the Jewels, and Eric B. and Rakim.

The new year is continuing apace at Hulu. The streamer’s list of new releases for February 2022 is highlighted by one very interesting project.
Pam and Tommy is set to premiere on Feb. 2. Perhaps the Groundhog Day release date is intentional as the show will cover a particular moment of celebrity, sex, and exploitation from the early ’90s that seems to have repeated itself over and over. Sebastian Stan and Lily James star as Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson and the series follows the events and fallout of their homemade sex tape being stolen and unleashed on a nascent internet. If nothing else, getting the promo photos of Stan and James as the ’90s stars was worth it.

Tuesday, April 25th boasts an array of diverse Blu-ray and DVD offerings with a great assortment titles both new and old. Lionsgate is releasing one of the best zombie films I’ve seen as of late, The Girl With All the Gifts, on both formats, and the most recent sequel in the Underworld franchise, Blood Wars, arrives this week on 4K Blu-ray, as well as the typical Blu and DVD discs, too.
Scream Factory is resurrecting both The Screaming Skull and I Bury the Living on Blu this Tuesday, and Arrow Video has put together a fantastic 2-Disc Special Edition set for Caltiki The Immortal Monster that fans definitely will want to pick up.
Other notable titles coming home on April 25th include a special edition release of The Vampire Bat, Mean Dreams, Detour, From Hell It Came, and Psycho Cop Returns.

You're seeing that damn J-Lo movie this weekend, right? I already saw it! Get this: creepier and better than you think! Definitely better than "Obsessed," which was not good or campy enough for human consumption. After you get your fix of the delicious Ryan Guzman, check back online to watch some of these classic stalker titles. Fatal Attraction (Netflix) Glenn Close is right: This movie is dated and treats mentally ill people unfairly. Here's where Glenn Close is wrong: It's still a watchable, entertaining movie still because Glenn Close is the best damn actress of the past 40 years. She is a risky artist who somehow got to be a gigantic star, and she did it by choosing projects that almost no one else could tackle. Adore her forever. "Dangerous Liaisons" is also an insane treat. Why did she do "Albert Nobbs" to us? Stalker (Hulu) The world did the right...

Earlier this week HBO finally confirmed that both Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn had signed on for the second season of True Detective. And if sources are correct, both men will be joined by Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch, who will round out the series’ four lead roles. The casting news is sure to draw excitement and ire among fans as debate unfolds about whether or not each actor is the right choice.
While it remains to be seen just how each actor does in the series, we rounded up their best roles that serve as a primer to the crime drama.

The casting process for True Detective’s second season has become just about as complicated as Rust and Marty’s search for the Yellow King in season one. And if you add in the 21st-century problem of social media—which the Yellow King was not a big fan of—one could argue that it’s an even more complicated puzzle. For months, there have been rumors surrounding the number of leads—two! three! four!—and from there, rumors surrounding who will play those leads—Josh Brolin! Brad Pitt! Jessica Chastain!

Gabi blames Will and Sonny for ruining her life. Oh honey, that ship sailed long ago.
I’ll miss these. Can the new guy possibly give us this caliber of Will Faces?
A repeat of Will faces and Gabi Nostril Flares (who is she, Judd Nelson?). Sonny bursts in and says “Whoa, hold on Ari can hear you, is that what you want?” Gabi totally flips out and accuses Sonny of telling her how to raise her daughter. Door Slam!
Gabi comes back out and Sonny apologizes, but Gabi won’t hear it “What happened to the three of us being in this together?” Ha! She actually bought that?
I’m confused by this blond woman in the hospital bed. Eric walks up and says ‘I’m right here, lesbian.” ??? Did I miss something? Who is she?
Yes! Finally, we get to see Will fired up, and it’s as hot as I remember.

It’s been more than fourteen years since Vince Vaughn last hosted “Saturday Night Live.” In between then and now, Vaughn has starred in dozens of movies, many of them funny, and most of them even intentionally so. (“Domestic Disturbance” is fairly hysterical, although that doesn’t seem to be the goal.) His upcoming movie “The Internship” won’t be out until June, but ostensibly one or two people from the upcoming “Anchorman” sequel might pop up in order to support Vaughn’s appearance tonight. Was milk a good choice for me? We’ll have to find out. Along for the ride is musical artist Miguel....

All of the week's hot casting news in one fell swoop ...
• John Cusack is a triple threat this week! In just the past few days he's scored roles in the legal drama "Due Process," the Stephen King adaptation "Cell" (Cusack's second King adventure, following "1408") and Roger Avary's "Duel"-type thriller, "Airspace."
• Hollywood loves it when a one-night stand leads to true love (and, often, a baby ... and not always in that order). Deadline reports that Amanda Seyfried and Patrick Dempsey will be playing unexpectedly expecting parents in "Wonderful Tonight," a romantic comedy that we hope gets a new title sooner rather than later (sorry, Mr. Clapton, but do you really need the extra money?).
• Harrison Ford and Zac Efron? We're so there, especially since their team-up is described as being kind of like "Cape Fear." The duo have signed on for Rob Reiner's thriller, "You Belong to Me,...

As much as I enjoy Blue Bloods, there are cases that leave me with more questions than answers. "Domestic Disturbance" was one of those episodes.
For those who aren't aware, October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month and kudos to Blue Bloods for highlighting the issue, even though it came across more forced than I'm sure they intended it to.
I say the storyline felt contrived because we've never seen Danny and Jackie responding to a domestic disturbance call before. There is a specialized Domestic Violence Unit in every precinct in New York City. Perhaps there are times when that unit becomes so busy that detectives from other departments step in to help. I have no insider knowledge so that's just a guess on my part. Still, it felt odd to see the detectives who normally handle major crimes dealing with such a case.

Vince Vaughn has fallen into somewhat of a slump lately with his film choices. Although he has shown audiences that he has a definite range with titles like Swingers and Domestic Disturbance, he’s become somewhat of an exclusive comedic presence in recent years. The trailer for his latest film, The Watch, was released a few weeks ago and the first time I saw it in theaters the person next to me couldn’t help but to remark, “hasn’t he done this already?”
It looks like someone else may have been listening to that comment too because Deadline is reporting that Vaughn and his production company, Wild West Picture Show Productions, have acquired the rights to Ridley Pearson’s novel, The Risk Agent, which was released just last month. Vaughn plans to both produce and star in the project, which the company secured with their discretionary funds.

Despite this week’s The Watch being a likely hit — all the better that it looks funny — Vince Vaughn will step outside that typical, comfortable parameter with a new outing. (Unless you hold Gus Van Sant‘s Psycho or Domestic Disturbance as benchmarks of his career.) Deadline reports that his Wild West Picture Show Productions are partnering with Universal on The Risk Agent, an international thriller that will see him in the field of action. For the sake of courtesy, please stifle your laughter.
Ridley Pearson‘s novel, from which they’ll be working, centers on two employees of Rutherford Risk, an extraction company hired, in this case, to retrieve a kidnapped Chinese national and his security guard. The two agents sent out into the field — Grace Chu, “a female forensic accountant who follows the money,” and John Knox, an agent who has “combat and culture” to his advantage — dig...

Does anyone remember when Vince Vaughn starred in movies where he didn't have the same snarky, smart-ass delivery that he has employed since Old School? Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of his style but I also have seen him play other types as well. There was a time after Swingers when Vince Vaughn tried his hand at a string of dramatic roles in films like Psycho, Return to Paradise, Domestic Disturbance, and The Cell before returning almost exclusively to comedies. Now he may have a chance to stretch his dramatic muscles again, this time for director Tony Scott in the action/thriller Lucky Strike. The film would tell the story of a DEA agent who "teams with a drug runner to take down a drug cartel." There's no word on which part Vaughn would play; only that he would star. Lucky Strike has gained momentum to become Scott's next project, although nothing has been set in stone yet, especially given the director's slew of other potential deals. If the film does become next in line for Scott, a late summer or early fall shoot would be planned. Written by Henry Bean, Lucky Strike has...

Vince Vaughn, action star? Uh, okay. Granted, he dabbled in the genre ("Mr. And Mrs. Smith" where he was mostly shooting quips and not bullets), and has done non-comedic parts from time to time ("Psycho," "Domestic Disturbance") but as a fully fledged lead in a Tony Scott movie? Well, we'll admit that it's inspired. And hey, if Keira Knightley can lead "Domino" then anything is possible. But if all goes according to plan, Deadline reports that Vaughn will lead "Lucky Strike" which the site says could shape up to be Tony Scott's next film, though we'll only believe it when cameras are rolling and a craft services table has been wheeled out. Penned by Henry Bean ("The Believer," "Internal Affairs") the story centers on a DEA agent who teams with a drug runner to take down a cartel. So thrown in some weird filters, and hyper editing, and you've...

Last seen trading insults, punches and bullets with Jason Statham in Killer Elite, Clive Owen shows no intentions of giving up on the action genre. He's attached to star in Recall, which is now being touted at the American Film Market.
With a script by Paul Schrader, Recall sounds like gene-splice between Memento and any number of hostage drama films. It'll find Owen as an Nsa agent attempting to figure out what happened during a botched effort to rescue some prisoners. As his memory of the events slowly begins to return, he discovers there's no one he can trust - not even His Own Brain (cue dramatic organ music sting.)
Harold Becker, who last brought the world Mercury Rising and the distinctly dodgy Domestic Disturbance in 2001, is on board to direct. He'll start shooting next March in Washington DC and Bulgaria.

Clive Owen is set to star in a new action-thriller called Recall, which is currently being sold at the American Film Market. Comingsoon reports that Moonstone Entertainment is selling the film that is to be directed by Harold Becker (Domestic Disturbance, Mercury Rising) based on a script by Paul Schrader.
Here is the description of the film:
A mission gone wrong, a crime covered up... nightmare or reality?
Sa specialist and decorated military hero James Forjac's world is turned upside down by a series of seemingly unrelated events that begin to occur after he meets a sexy photo model in New York hotel room.
Assigned to a highly classified mission to Kyrgyzstan, Forjac continues to see links between his mission, the mysterious model and a crime cover-up.
As he attempts to put the pieces of the puzzle together, Frontjac is confronted by a terrible reality far worse than any nightmare.

Despite being in my favorite film of the last decade, Clive Owen‘s career hasn’t exactly skyrocketed the way it should. Since that Alfonso Cuarón classic in 2006, Duplicity has been his only role that seemed to go above and beyond what I’d expect from the actor, and even I fall into the minority on that one. So, it comes with excitement that the actor is teaming up with one of Hollywood’s great screenwriters.
Variety reports that Owen will star in an action film from Raging Bull and Taxi Driver scribe Paul Schrader. From Moonstone Entertainment, Recall follows Owen as “an Nsa agent trying to piece together the events of a botched hostage rescue operation. As he begins to recall events and unearth the truth, he finds he can trust neither his fellow soldiers nor his own mind.”

Reservoir Dogs star Steve Buscemi has learned not to get drunk while on location after a 1998 bar brawl in North Carolina almost cost him his life.
The actor was out drinking with Domestic Disturbance co-star Vince Vaughn when locals turned on the drunk stars and a nasty fight broke out.
Buscemi was left with knife wounds to the head and neck, but he isn't holding any grudges - he's blaming the whole thing on the alcohol.
He tells Playboy magazine, "Too much alcohol got consumed that night - by everybody, me included. They were local people; we were outsiders.
"I don't remember what was said or how it started. I only know that if I hadn't been drinking, I would not have gotten into any trouble.
"I had a plastic surgeon fix me up and went on from there."...

The Green Hornet burst on to the scene this week with one of the best January openings ever. In a distant second, The Dilemma disappointed compared to the track record of stars Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. Overall it was another down week at the box office, as business was off 25 percent compared to last year when Avatar topped The Book of Eli with $66.3 million. The Green Hornet debuted to $45.3 million, which was the third highest-grossing January opening week ever behind Cloverfield and Star Wars (Special Edition) (though it fell much further down the chart when accounting for ticket price inflation). Also, while the opening was about middle-of-the-road for highly-promoted superhero fare, The Green Hornet is set to pass Kick-Ass sometime today to become the second highest-grossing superhero comedy ever behind The Incredibles. In a slightly sour note, the seven-day start was less than past Seth Rogen-scripted projects Superbad and Pineapple Express,...

With data now in for half of the four-day holiday weekend, it appears that The Green Hornet will finish the frame slightly stronger than initially expected. According to studio estimates, the Seth Rogen superhero movie won the three-day weekend with $34 million. That’s the third-highest January debut ever, following 2008′s Cloverfield and the 1997 re-release of Star Wars. The $110 million action film is on pace for an estimated four-day harvest of $40.5 million, which would rank as the second-best Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend opening (also after Cloverfield). The Sony release predictably skewed male, with 61 percent of the audience sporting a Y chromosome,...

Subject: Vince Vaughn, 40-year old American actor, comedian, and producer
Date of Assessment: January 14, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Swingers, smooth-talking, money
Negative Buzzwords: Christmas movies, stagnation, monied
The Case: If I asked moviegoers to consider today's subject, the vast majority would express the same sentiment in regard to today's subject; that is, what the hell happened to Vince Vaughn? Babies, you know what I'm talking about when I refer to Vaughn's promising performance as Trent "Double Down" Walker in Swingers. Vaughn virtually materialized out of thin air to great effect -- women wanted him, and men wanted to be him. To put it quite simply, he was money... and he still is, but Vince's definition of "money" has drastically changed over the past fifteen years. Instead of a descriptor of coolness, the term now refers to what's rattling around in Vaughn's very oversized pockets. Then again, the size of the pockets has changed as well.

What’S New & Cool This Week:
This week is an extremely slow one when it comes to new releases. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to look forward to in terms of exciting cinematic adventures but here’s the few that are worth checking out. For all you Coen cinephiles, their religious fable A Serious Man hits shelves this week. I wasn’t a huge fan of the film, but with that said, it is still one to see for its shocking moments alone. But what would a Coen Brothers film be without shocking moments?
Also out this week is the remake of The Stepfather (aka Domestic Disturbance 2), the Jon Favreau/Vince Vaugn written Couples Retreat, and The Time Traveler’S Wife. Do not be surprised when you find this out to not be a spin-off of Back To The Future, exploring Doc Brown’s early married life.

Here’s an alternative award giving ceremony that those in Hollywood don’t like! The Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) always announce their awards right near the Oscar noms in a bid to steal some thunder and to remind us all that some movies suck! For the likes of Sly Stallone, it’s the gift that keeps on giving. He’s received most nominations in practically every category going! Some like Halle Berry (Worst Actress for Catwoman) and Paul Verhoeven (winner for Showgirls) have turned up at the ceremony and graciously accepted their awards. See? Some Hollywood folk do have a sense of humour!
Leading the pack this year is G.I. Joe, Land of the Lost, Hannah Montana and the controversial inclusion of R. Pattz and Kirstin Stewart. Here’s the full list of nominations:

We're less than 10 hours away from the 2010 Oscar Nominations (as of this posting), and as per usual, the Razzie Awards -- which celebrate the worst in cinema -- are announced the day before. And as usual, the Razzies nominate the most obvious movies -- the spectacularly bad popular movies, actors, and actresses (not that there's anything wrong with that). From a cursory glance at the nominees, it appears as though the same five movies dominate every category and Sandra Bullock may be the most nominated this year (ironic, since she'll also likely be nominated for an Oscar) for her role in All About Steve. Transformers 2, G.I. Joe, Old Dogs, New Moon and Land of the Lost are the other big titles on the list. There's really no excuse for leaving out Paul Blart or Year One, though.

The 2010 Razzie nominations were announced today. “Land of the Lost” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” led the pack with 7 nominations each, Sandra Bullock and Megan Fox will be battling it out for the Worst Actress Award.
Sandra Bullock expected to score an Academy Award nomination Tuesday for her hit drama “The Blind Side,” and
“She could be the first person ever to win a Razzie and an Oscar in the same weekend,”
said John Wilson, founder of the Golden Raspberry Awards, now in their 30th year of singling out Hollywood’s low points.
Other actors and actresses graced with nominations include Will Ferrell, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Murphy, John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, and Julie White who played Shia Labeouf’s mother in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Land of the Lost each grabbed seven nominations for the 2010 Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies), an annual event recognizing the worst movies had to offer.
The Michael Bay sequel made $835 million worldwide and placed second at the U.S. box office in 2009 while the Will Ferrell “comedy” tanked in its summer release, earning only half its budget back in the States. Both are in the running for “Worst Picture” along with critically panned All About Steve, the campy G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, and the John Travolta/Robin Williams groaner Old Dogs.

Forget about the Oscars for now, let's talk about the Razzies. One day before the prestigious Academy Awards nominations, the Golden Raspberry Awards noms have been announced and it ain't good for both "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Land of the Lost." Both movies earned 7 nominations each.
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" received nominations for worst film, worst director for Michael Bay, worst screen couple (expanded to include both Shai LeBouf and Megan Fox or LeBouf and any Transformer), worst supporting actress, worst screenplay and worst remake/rip-off.
"Land of the Lost" also received seven nominations for Will Farrell as worst actor and worst screen couple, worst picture, director for Brad Silberling, remake/rip-off, screenplay and supporting actor for Jorma Taccone as Cha-Ka.

Oscar's ugly little stepbrother Razzie announced his nominations this week for the worst movies and performances of 2009, and let's just say there's no shortage of stuff to choose from. The Golden Raspberry Awards are, of course, the annual awards that mock and ridicule all of the terrible blockbusters that we are forced to sit through in a year, and among the biggest offenders this year we have Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Land of the Lost, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and Twilight Saga: New Moon. Transformers and Land of the Lost lead the pack with seven nominations each. In an interesting twist, it seems that Sandra Bullock is nominated for Worst Actress for her performance in All About Steve, which means she might actually have a shot at winning both Best Actress at the Oscars and Worst Actress at the Razzies in the same year. Now that's an achievement!

- Uma Thurman is replacing Maria Bello and is thus set to star along her Pulp Fiction/Kill Bill co-star Samuel L. Jackson in a role that will call on the actress to play beaten and bruised, which we at Ioncinema.com prefer over her gigs in comedies - especially the rom com kind. In Vengeance: A Love Story, which unfortunately no longer goes by the thought provoking Joyce Carol Oates novella's title Rape: A Love Story, we are witness to an act of unbelievable brutality that twists the lives of three generations of women and sets a man of the law on his own course of justice. On the Fourth of July, Niagara Falls Police Officer John Dromoor (Jackson) is flagged down by 12-year-old Bethie Maguire (Abigail Breslin). Her mother, Teena Maguire (Thurman), has been brutally raped and left for dead. Moving at a relentless, compelling pace, the story

While the news broke last week, official confirmation has come through: Samuel L Jackson, Maria Bello and Abigail Breslin will all star in Rape: A Love Story. Fearing for the safety of her daughter (Breslin), she gets help from a sympathetic cop (Jackson). Samuel L. Jackson has signed on to star in the drama, Rape: A Love Story.Based on a searing, harrowing novella by Joyce Carol Oates, the movie – directed by Harold Becker – will tell the story of Teena MacGuire (Maria Bello), a young mother who is brutally gang-raped and left for dead, in an attack witnessed by her 12 year-old daughter (Abigail Breslin).Jackson will play a cop who, appalled by Teena’s plight and a legal miscarriage of justice, takes the law into his own hands in an attempt to punish her attackers.
