Image
Uma Thurman should have won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1995, Charlize Theron told Jimmy Kimmel Friday night. “I think men get a lot of credit for these movies. … What she did in that film was just so unbelievable,” Theron said.

Theron and Thurman are co-stars in the upcoming Netflix film The Old Guard 2. “We knew each other kind of offhand, but I knew her from being a massive fan, just watching her work, and always wanted to do something with her,” Theron first told Kimmel. “Because when I came into the action world, she was really, to me, like, the sensei. She was the Og.”

The late night host then interjected, “I agree. She should’ve won the Academy Award for Kill Bill, right?” to which Theron answered, “A hundred percent.”

“To me, she’s just such a badass. So, since I’ve been in action movies,...

Uma Thurman Battles Charlize Theron with a Sword in ‘Kill Bill’ Callback for ‘The Old Guard 2’ Trailer
Image
Charlize Theron is back in action at Netflix with the long-awaited graphic novel adaptation sequel “The Old Guard 2.” And this time? She’s joined by “Kill Bill” action star alum Uma Thurman.

“The Old Guard 2,” which will be released five years after the first film, has been in the throes of production delays at the streamer. Lead star Theron, who also produces the feature, told Variety in 2024 that it was due to the “changeover” at Netflix that in part led to the film’s post-production being shut down; the feature wrapped filming in 2022.

Now, “The Old Guard” is new again.

Victoria Mahoney directs from a script by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker. The film is based on the 2017 graphic novel from Rucka, which is illustrated by Leandro Fernandez. Gina Prince-Bythewood previously helmed the first installment that became a hit on the platform.

One year ago last week, Kendrick Lamar set flames to Drake’s reputation that the rap world is still feeling the embers from. He rode that momentum into Gnx, a 12-track album that debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200. That’s the tidal wave of energy he rode into the...

Action fans will love Old Guard 2 and Netflix just dropped the trailer
Image
You want action, Netflix subscribers? You got it. At least, that is what the new trailer for Old Guard 2 implies. We get a lot of Charlize Theron's Andy shooting guns, making her karate moves, and looking pretty impressive.

The good part is that the trailer doesn't have Andy as the only intimidating female actor. Uma Thurman, who plays antagonist Discord, is featured quite a bit in the trailer and is Kill Bill-era awesome.

If you like bad guys and gals, that is. What is certain is that Andy will not have an easy time facing off against Discord. The trailer tells us that Thurman's character knows everything she needs to know about her adversaries, so she has the advantage. Andy and her immortal warrior pals must plan some sneak attack.

Image
The Old Guard was a hit movie for Netflix when it premiered back in 2020, and is one of the few original films on the streamer that has the staying power to keep people excited years later. The Old Guard 2 Trailer: Netflix's Sequel Pays Off The Original's Most Horrifying Moment
Image
When "The Old Guard" dropped on Netflix in the summer of 2020, it was a surprising little treat for action fans who like their stories a bit more supernatural. It wasn't a perfect movie by any means, and some reviewers (/FIlm's included) were frustrated because they wanted something more from a big action flick starring Charlize Theron. Still, "The Old Guard" is honestly a darn good movie that ticks all the right boxes for a popcorn-chomping afternoon at home.

Adapted from the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka, "The Old Guard" stars Theron as Andy, a nearly-immortal and ageless woman with mysterious healing powers who, alongside other individuals possessing the same abilities, takes on mercenary work to help the little guy. It's a superhero story with some very complicated heroes, but it did well enough for Netflix to green-light a sequel shortly after the film's release, getting...

What remains consistent are largely stoic sword fighters who use their skills with the blade to cut through their enemies, often on a moral quest.

Some of the absolute best in Japanese cinema are samurai movies, taking full advantage of the country's history and cultural backdrop. “I Would’ve Made a Great Batman” – Michael Madsen Reflects on the Role That Got Away
Image
Michael Madsen thinks he had the chops to play the Batman. And honestly? He might not be wrong. Best known for slicing off ears in Reservoir Dogs, swinging swords in Kill Bill, and just generally looking like a guy you don’t want to owe money to, Madsen has had a long, fascinating career filled with cool-guy roles. He’s worked with Quentin Tarantino, stood alongside Johnny Depp in Donnie Brasco, got sentimental in Free Willy, and even found himself in Thelma & Louise. But capes and cowls? Not really his thing—unless you count his turn as Lieutenant Harvey Bullock in the Batman: Dying Is Easy fan film. Still, during a recent appearance on One Bad Movie Podcast, hosted by The Usual Suspects star Stephen Baldwin, Madsen dropped this little Bat-bomb: “I would’ve made a great Batman. It just wasn’t meant to happen.” Image Credit: Custom image...

When Jack Nicholson Revealed The Real Reason For Passing The Legendary Role Of Michael Corleone In The Godfather
Image
Jack Nicholson Turned Down Michael Corleone In The Godfather ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

The release of The Godfather marked the entry of a true cinematic marvel in theatres. With its rich and nuanced storytelling, the story became a classic hit, thanks to the powerful performance delivered by its actors. One such signature character from the movie was Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino.

But here’s something not everyone knows: the role of Michael Corleone, Pacino’s iconic breakout, almost went to someone else entirely. And not just anyone, it practically went to Jack Nicholson, arguably Hollywood’s most charismatic actor of his generation. Before Pacino ever delivered that cold-blooded line, “It’s not personal, Sonny. It’s strictly business,” the role was of Jack’s to take.

Jack Nicholson, riding high off the success of Easy Rider and already becoming a household name, was in a prime position. Studio heads saw the commercial appeal.

Kill Bill Nearly Killed Uma Thurman—The Shocking Story Quentin Tarantino Tried To Keep Quiet
Image
Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill Story ( Photo Credit – Netflix)

Kill Bill was more than a revenge fantasy soaked in stylized blood and cinematic swagger. It was the brutal and brilliant high point of Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman’s intense creative partnership. In the 2003 classic, Thurman delivered a razor-sharp and emotionally raw performance as the vengeful Bride that it seemed to slice through the screen. No character before or after in Tarantino’s universe ever commanded that kind of mythic presence as she did. But Thurman’s on-screen rage felt personal, like something deeply buried and fiercely unleashed.

Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino: The Muse and the Madman

Long before the yellow jumpsuit and the roaring katana, Thurman had already become Tarantino’s muse, a dynamic first ignited when she glided barefoot into “Pulp Fiction.” That energy only escalated in Kill Bill, a two-part blood opera where artistry and obsession...

The Best American Martial Arts Movies
Image
It can’t be denied that as far as martial arts movies go, the best ones come from Asia, particularly Hong Kong during their action heyday, which was arguably the 70s, 80s and first half of the ’90s. It’s tough to compete with the likes of the Shaw Brothers and the drunken master known as Jackie Chan. That said, martial arts movies were also making a foothold in the States decades ago, thanks mainly to Bruce Lee-mania following the release of Enter the Dragon. Before that movie, very few actors in Hollywood seemed like they were credible martial artists, except maybe James Coburn, a student of Lee’s, who pulled off some pretty good-looking moves in the otherwise silly Our Man Flint movies. Steve McQueen also had training but didn’t use martial arts on screen. Up to then, though, the most notable uses of martial arts in movies usually revolved around Judo,...

Dexter: Resurrection gets a July premiere date
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
For eight seasons and 96 episodes, from 2006 to 2013, the series Dexter ran on Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who is also a vigilante serial killer. Clyde Phillips was showrunner on Dexter for the first four seasons, and in 2021 he and Showtime brought us the revival series Dexter: New Blood… which, for a time, also seemed to be the end of it all. But that’s not the case. Showtime has tasked Phillips with continue to build up the Dexter franchise, with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin premiering back in December and a New Blood follow-up called Dexter: Resurrection, which heard was heading for a June premiere date. It’s actually going to miss June by a handful of days, as Showtime has revealed (and trades like The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed) that Dexter: Resurrection is going to premiere with two episodes on Friday,...

When Kangana Did A Hooch Version Of Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill
Image
Subhash K Jha examines the one where Kangana did a version of Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill in Sai Kabir‘s Revolver Rani (2014).

In a scene straight out of a street play, Kangana Ranaut, playing what seems like a cross between Uma Thurman in Kill Bill and Seema Biswas in Bandit Queen, Kangana in Revolver Rani which clocks 11 years on April 25, tells the mother of a young girl, “Teach her how to shoot a gun. It’s the only way she can survive.”

Revolver Rani (Rr) is an enormously disturbing and yet deeply satisfying tribute to many things at the same time. Director Sai Kabir (who had previously directed an unreleased film) pays a hefty homage to many filmmakers, among them Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj, Quentin Tarantino, Mehboob Khan, and Shekhar Kapoor. And yet, for all its derivative aspirations, Rr is a fiercely original piece of cinema, crafted with compelling concentration and impassioned intuition.

Will There Ever Be a ‘Kill Bill Vol. 3’?
Image
Quentin Tarantino is one of the most revered filmmakers of his generation. From Reservoir Dogs to Django Unchained, Tarantino has never failed to amaze fans and critics with his incredible genius and filmmaking talent. However, when many of us hear the name ‘Quentin Tarantino,’ his bloody Kill Bill saga is sure to come first to our minds.

Way back in 2003 and 2004, the filmmaker unleashed Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, a two-part cinematic spectacle that shocked the world with its brilliant infusion of samurai swordplay, spaghetti western grit, and anime-inspired violence. Essentially a revenge saga for the ages, the franchise has today assumed the status of cult classic, drawing in viewers even today.

At the heart was Beatrix Kiddo, aka the Bride, portrayed by Uma Thurman. A former assassin on a relentless quest for vengeance, both films not only turned out to be box office successes but also cemented their place in pop culture,...

How Much Has Quentin Tarantino Earned From Movies Following ’10 Movie’ Intention?
Image
How much did Quentin Tarantino earn after ‘10 movie’ idea? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Quentin Tarantino’s movies are like blood-soaked love letters to pop culture, grindhouse cinema, and vintage feet shots. Since the ‘90s, he’s given us iconic films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, each dripping in style, violence, and unapologetic weirdness.

But beyond all the cult worship and memeable moments, there’s cold, hard cash. Tarantino’s movies don’t just win awards, they rake in millions. Now, with his infamous “10 movies and I’m out” retirement plan looming like a final chapter, fans are doing the math: how much has the man actually earned from his iconic (and often insane) filmography? Spoiler alert, it’s a lot more than just royalties and Red Apple cigarette profits. Let’s break it down.

Quentin Tarantino’s Salary And Net Worth

Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 Hit Film Was the Catalyst for Demi Moore’s Career Doubts: “Where do I fit in?”
Image
Demi Moore just gave the performance of her life. And she did it covered in blood and brilliance. Moore has never been one to play it safe. From Ghost to G.I. Jane, she’s made a career out of bold choices—but in The Substance, she doesn’t just push the envelope, she sets it on fire. At 62, Demi Moore bares it all—emotionally, physically, metaphorically—and reminds Hollywood that she’s still a force to be reckoned with.

When The Substance premiered at Cannes, it didn’t just debut—it detonated. Moore walked out of that screening as The name on everyone’s lips, all over again. Directed by Coralie Fargeat (Revenge), the film is a visceral, blood-soaked body-horror trip that channels Cronenberg, Carpenter, and a bit of Death Becomes Her on steroids. And Moore? She owns every frame.

She plays Elisabeth Sparkle, a washed-up Hollywood icon clinging to relevance.

'Dexter: Resurrection' Is Intended To Last for "Years" According to Michael C. Hall and Clyde Phillips
Image
Originally premiering on Showtime in October 2006, Dexterquickly became a cultural phenomenon, thanks to its dark take on the flaws within the US criminal justice system. Within seven years, the crime series ran for eight seasons and carved out a giant fanbase while slicing through several ratings records. Though the latter seasons struggled to maintain critical acclaim, the franchise found new life in the sequel miniseries, Dexter: New Blood. The criticisms have lingered, but the Dexter franchise continues to expand, spawning prequels and sequels, including the much-anticipated Dexter: Resurrection. The new sequel series will continue the story while rectifying the divisive ending of its predecessor, and now franchise star Michael C Hall and creator Clyde Phillips have teased an ambitious vision for its future.

The previous sequel series, New Blood, picked up a decade after the events of the original and told a self-contained story in a miniseries format. The ending,...

First 'Dexter: Resurrection' Images Reveal Michael C. Hall, Uma Therman & Peter Dinklage
Image
The Dexteruniverse is expanding once again with another continuation series, this time set after the events of the short-lived revival series Dexter: New Blood. While fans were almost sure that the titular vigilante serial killer had finally met his fate, Resurrection will see Michael C. Hall once again portray Dexter. He will be facing a violent past and present that will surely bring about another exciting chapter in the never-ending franchise.

Courtesy of Vanity Fair, a pair of new images from Dexter: Resurrection were released featuring Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, James Remar as Harry Morgan, David Zayas as Angel Batista, Uma Thurman, and Peter Dinklage. The star-studded affair follows a new page in Dexter's life as he is distant from his son, which is quite understandable after Harrison killed his father in the New Blood finale (or at least tried to). Meanwhile, a...

The new images show Hall reprising his role as Dexter, with other stars such as Jack Alcott, Peter Dinklage, and even David Zayas, who will return and play Angel Batista.

Craig Mazin Is Ready for Your ‘Last of Us’ Season 2 Complaints: ‘I Did It Because I Loved It’
Image
Hollywood may be embracing video games like it never has before, but that doesn’t make adapting a smash hit for the small screen any less daunting. Take it from Craig Mazin, “The Last of Us” showrunner and executive producer who told IndieWire he was “mostly anxious” ahead of his award-winning show’s Season 2 return — airing Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. Et on HBO.

“That’s how I wake up,” Mazin said. “It’s how I go to bed. It’s often how I wake up in the middle of the night. Because I feel an obligation to this pretty sizable audience to give them something they love.” A major fan himself, Mazin has a “Last of Us” tattoo on his forearm depicting an iconic weapon from the game.

Flexing his black-and-gray switchblade, Mazin continued, “Look, we’re really happy. We think we’ve made something great. I think the season is pretty amazing,...

Image
Who is the moat badass actor according to Quentin Tarantino? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Quentin Tarantino, the guy known for turning everyday actors into pop-culture icons went old-school with his pick, and the answer was peak Tarantino.

During a candid sit-down on the El Rey Network, Tarantino answered a question from fellow filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. The Oscar-winning Pulp Fiction mastermind had plenty of choices, but his response was instant:

“There’s a lot of guys you can say, but I have to say right now, I’m, in particular, the last few years, I’ve been on a real Lee Van Cleef kick,” he said. “I mean, I really wish I could have worked with Lee Van Cleef in that ’69, ’70 time period. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but Lee Van Cleef is a dead ringer for Snoop Dogg. They look exactly alike. Like as if...

‘A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre’ Review
Image
Featuring: RZA, Method Man, Cappadonna, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Raekwon, Ydb | Written by RZA | Directed by RZA, Gerald K. Barclay

August 13th, 2021 saw the Wu-Tang Clan, one of hip-hop’s most iconic and influential collectives, take the stage at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a performance that defied convention and cemented their legacy as musical innovators. Backed by the 60-piece Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the group delivered a set that blended their raw, gritty Staten Island sound with the lush, expansive tones of classical instrumentation. This wasn’t just a concert, it was a bold experiment, a fusion of genres, and a live scoring of the 1978 martial arts classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, the film that inspired their historical debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Directed by RZA (the group’s visionary leader) and Gerald K. Barclay (aka Gee-Bee), A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre is...
