“Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons is attached to executive produce a multi-camera comedy in the works at ABC, Variety has learned.
In a competitive situation, ABC has given a put pilot commitment to the the series, which is titled “Bless Her Heart.” It is described as a multigenerational family comedy centered on two very different Texas matriarchs who wreak havoc on their children’s lives when they all wind up living together. The series is inspired by Parsons’ early life in Texas.
The series hails from writer and executive producer Chuck Tatham. Tatham’s previous credits include “Modern Family,” “Arrested Development,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Suddenly Susan,” and “Full House.” He is repped by Wme and Red Sun Entertainment.
Parsons will produce via his That’s Wonderful Productions banner along with That’s Wonderful’s Todd Spiewak. Eric Norsoph, the company’s head of development and production, will oversee the project.

The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons had long been interested in mining his growing up in Texas for a comedy series. A couple of years ago, his idea morphed into Young Sheldon, a spinoff from Big Bang about the Texas childhood of Parsons’ character Sheldon Cooper. Now Parsons has sold another comedy inspired by his Texas upbringing, family and friends.
In a competitive situation, ABC has given a put pilot commitment to Bless Her Heart, a multi-camera comedy from former Modern Family executive producer Chuck Tatham, Parsons and Todd Spiewak’s That’s Wonderful Productions and Warner Bros. TV where the company is based.

Netflix first made a name for itself with dramas such as “House of Cards,” “Hemlock Grove” and “Orange is the New Black” (which, despite its initial insistence to the contrary, was indeed a drama). But comedy wasn’t far behind. The streaming giant first got into the comedy game in 2013 with the “Arrested Development” revival, and by 2015, premiered signature shows like “Master of None” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
Befitting its desire to offer something for everyone, Netflix has quickly cast a wide comedy net — dark comedy, multi-camera shows shot in front of a studio audience and absurdist humor, among other variations. The best original series from the streaming giant evoke more than just a few chuckles, to be sure. They share insights into the world we all share and offer various perspectives from around the globe. They tell exciting, addictive, and yup, sometimes even alarming stories that will surprise.

Street Wise Hercules: Love’s Homespun Superhero Film Too Conventional for Kicks
No one can deny the super hero is now an immovable staple of Hollywood tent pole filmmaking, having overrun the mainstream market in every conceivable fashion via standalone films, hybrid mash-ups and valiant ensembles. Imperceptibly, these narratives have also infiltrated smaller budgeted endeavors and even independent American cinema, albeit to less substantial effect. British director Nick Love (The Sweeney, 2012), known for a growing filmography built on the type of crime tinged action films once proliferated by Guy Ritchie, makes a curious move overseas with the New Orleans set American Hero, a narrative more interesting than its generic title otherwise suggests. The exploits of a working class man wrapped up in his own downward spiral despite having unexplainable yet extraordinary super powers will have audiences nitpicking its derivative components despite its quality production values and an otherwise persuasive performance from Stephen Dorff.

(Cbr) Did you know that Bruce Willis, John Cusack and Jason Patric are starring together in a movie? Neither did we until we saw this trailer for "The Prince" pop up on Yahoo! Movies. Directed by Brian A. Miller (House of the Rising Sun) from a script by Jeremy Passmore ("Red Dawn," "Special") and Andre Fabrizio ("San Andreas"), the film features Patric as an assassin who’s forced out of retirement and into his old stomping grounds of New Orleans when his daughter goes missing. Unfortunately, Willis’ crime boss has been waiting years for him to return so he can settle an old score. "The Prince," which also stars 50 Cent and South Korean pop star/actor Rain ("Speed Racer," "Ninja Assassin"), arrives in theaters and on demand Aug. 22.

Between the time he directed his last film – Imitation of Life, in 1959 — and his death in 1987, Douglas Sirk managed to see his critical stock rise considerably. His work, specifically his 1950s work for Universal, went from being dismissed as soapy fluff to being reevaluated as sly, barbed condemnations of the social values of contemporary America. 1954′s All That Heaven Allows, newly restored and re-released by the Criterion Collection, finds Sirk working firmly within his wheelhouse: a colourful, sensitive piece of melodramatic fiction bolstered by strong direction and fine performances.

In one of the most hilarious films at the Los Angeles Film Festival this year, “The Last Time You Had Fun” is an enjoyable laughable film of four middle-aged people trying to have fun during a night out in Los Angeles.
The movie stars Eliza Coupe, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Demetri Martin, Kyle Bornheimer, Charlyne Yi and Jimmi Simpson.
Here’s the synopsis:
When Idea, cheeks streaked by mascara tears, unexpectedly shows up at her sister’s place, the staid Alison bargains her way out of mom duty for the night and the two head off to an eastside win bar. There, they run into Will and the freshly divorced, sweatpants-attired Clark. After some slightly inebriated commiserating about mismanaged marriages and other adult concerns, the foursome head out into the night, careening from downtown lofts to pot dispernsaries to midnight swims and back again, determined to prove they still have what...

The New York Knicks are one of basketball’s most storied franchises but they haven’t won an NBA title since 1973. Celebrity fans like Spike Lee, Woody Allen, and screenwriter William Goldman worshipped the star-studded — but team-first — Knicks teams of that championship era, and a generation of aging sportswriters refuse to let those hardwood legends die. Actor Michael Rapaport was only three years old when the Knicks won their last title, but he’s turned his yearning for those glory years into a documentary, When the Garden was Eden.

Today was a busy day for some of the smaller guilds with the Visual Effects Society, the Cinema Audio Society, and the Makeup and Hairstylists Guilds all announcing their nominations for 2013.
First, we have the Ves, whose main category to look at is “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture,” where we find Gravity and four other nominees that are just going to have to be happy with the fact that they got nominated. This is perhaps the easiest category to call in the entirety of awards season, and I don’t mean just here, but for the Oscar as well (Last year’s winner, Life of Pi, easily took this category before going on to claim the Oscar). It’s true that films like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Star Trek Into Darkness had outstanding effects as well, but nothing even came close to the amazing,...

Red Dawn, the remake of the cult classic ’80s movie of the same name, was finally released in the Us late last year after getting delayed for a few years following MGM’s financial troubles.
Fast forward a few months, and the film is finally about to be released on our shores, having been acquired by Koch Media. And with its UK release date fast approaching, arriving next Friday, we’ve had the new trailer sent over to share.
“In Red Dawn, a city in Washington State awakens to the surreal sight of North Korean paratroopers dropping from the sky – the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganising themselves into a guerilla group of fighters.

Arriving in Us theatres today, in time for Thanksgiving, Red Dawn promises a healthy dose of action for those seeking something more explosive and weapons-heavy in the midst of the awards season’s dramatic leanings.
We caught the latest patriotic trailer for the film last week, and as the film heads into cinemas today, Yahoo Movies have released a new clip, featuring the famous battle cry in the new remake.

The army invading the United States in "Red Dawn," an ill-advised remake of the campy 1984 original, was changed in post-production from Chinese to North Korean. With a few snips here, a few re-dubs there, the filmmakers re-edited and re-shot, fearful of offending China and its increasingly important movie-going market.
But why stop there? Can't we blithely make any nation our enemy for movie-sake? Let's try a version with Iran! And don't we have reason to be suspicious of Sweden? Do we Really know what's in all those giant Ikea stores??
The ridiculous "Red Dawn" is the supreme example of Hollywood's Cold War nostalgia, when the Russkies offered up an easy, de facto villain. Today's terrorism paranoia, apparently, is too complex and too faceless for some. No, we need a clear-cut enemy. Do you have something in red?
The awkward updating of "Red Dawn" came after Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which had produced the film back in 2009, went bankrupt.

In the midst of the awards season, it’s easy to lose track of some of the other films coming out towards the end of the year, and a good example of that is perhaps the upcoming Red Dawn, remaking the original cult favourite.
The first trailer for the film landed back in the summer, and we got our first clip from the film last month, and with its release only two weeks away, the campaign will no doubt be gearing up in the coming days, now releasing a new clip and two TV spots.

'In every hot streak a little rain must fall' might as well be a Hollywood adage. Every time a star really starts blowing up, all the little lackluster projects they had a part in that didn't find distribution are suddenly.and often regrettably.resurrected. In the case of Chris Hemsworth, who has had a major year with the critically adored Cabin in the Woods, the fantasy that will spawn him a spin-off Snow White and the Huntsman, and the box office juggernaut The Avengers, that rain looks to be the long-shelved remake of Red Dawn. Disturbia screenwriter Carl Ellsworth and Special scribe Jeremy Passmore transplanted the original tale of teenagers battling a international communist mega-force to a modern context by making the invading forces North Korean. The film's first trailer gave us a look at the kind of havoc these baddies wrought, and the latest clip offers a better look...

The long-awaited remake of Red Dawn is finally hitting theatres in the Us next month, with its stars Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson exponentially more recognisable now than when it was filmed a few years ago – every cloud has a silver lining.
The first trailer and poster landed over the summer, and now AICN have debuted the first clip from the film, following its premiere at Fantastic Fest last week, where it was received well with some solid reviews.
“A city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters.

Quadrophenia (Criterion) Franc Roddam’s 1979 film based on The Who’s classic rock opera tells the story of working class lad Jimmy (Phil Daniels) struggling to find his identity in a rapidly changing Britain, circa 1965. Jimmy is a “mod,” a youth movement dedicated to wearing snappy suits, driving Vespa motor scooters bedecked with side mirrors, popping amphetamines and obsessed with the new sound of bands like The Who and The Kinks. Their other pastime is engaging in bloody brawls with “rockers,” throwbacks to the 1950s, who listen to Elvis and Gene Vincent, wear leather biker gear, grease in their hair and drive massive motorcycles a la Marlon Brando in “The Wild One.” Often cited as a worthy successor to “Rebel Without a Cause” as the greatest angry youth picture ever made, it is that and more, including a first cousin to the “kitchen sink” dramas of scribes John Osborne,...

In the past few days, we’ve had a sneak peek, a handful of images, and the first official poster, and it’s all pointed to one thing: The first trailer for Red Dawn.
And now it’s here. Just as we head into the weekend, Yahoo Movies have debuted the first trailer for this year’s Red Dawn remake, which we were initially expecting to be released back in 2010, before MGM came into financial difficulties.
The delay hasn’t entirely been against the film’s favour, with the film’s leading cast gaining in recognition significantly in recent years, and now we’ve got our first good look at them all in an invaded small town in America, trying to save their homes.

The long-postponed Red Dawn remake was originally set for release back in 2010, but when MGM came into financial difficulties, the film was put on the shelf, like a handful of others.
The delay perhaps will have a silver lining, in that all of its leading cast have grown in recognition significantly in the years since, with Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, especially, rising in status following Hemsworth’s leading roles in Thor, The Avengers, and Snow White and the Huntsman, and Hutcherson’s in The Hunger Games.
After catching an early sneak peek at the trailer and two new images last week, we’ve now got the first official poster, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, and the first official trailer should be on its way soon.

The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.
For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.
See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.

Everyone, including this writer, solely associates Crash with Paul Haggis; some may find it hard to believe, but, for co-writer (and Oscar-winner) Bobby Moresco, this might be a source of mild irritation. I doubt he really has to worry about proper credit, though, since he can clearly get some work done across Tinseltown. Even better? His name still doesn’t carry the same negative weight as his former collaborator. (Maybe this to-the-side treatment is for the better, actually.)
Next up, Variety says he’ll write and direct The Harbor, a crime drama and “redemptive tale” that adapts Jp O’Donnell‘s Deadly Codes. The story centers on Daniel Cormac Gallagher, Jr., a former narcotics cop-turned-Boston P.I.; Gallagher’s new task requires him to investigate the car bomb killing of a woman with some unique ties — such as a missing lesbian lover — and it soon turns out there’s a...
