Twenty years after they first appeared on Weekend Update together on Saturday Night Live, beloved alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returned to their desk at the 2023 Emmy Awards.
Weekend Update’s first female duo took the stage to present the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special — but not before cracking a few jokes in their signature news style. “We’ve reached the stage in life where we’ll only present awards sitting down,” Fey joked.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are ready to bring some laughter to 2021. The dynamic duo has been tapped to return as hosts of the Golden Globes, set for Feb. 28, but they have a few things to get in order before taking the stage at the award show next month. During the Monday, Jan. 4 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the comedian revealed she and her Baby Mama co-star still have many questions regarding their roles as hosts for the prestigious event. "We just have a few final questions," the Inside Out actress shared. "When, how, why, where and what? Just those, that's all we need to find out. But we're going to figure it out." Host Seth Meyers laughed, "I think It will...

This was difficult, because boy oh boy has Saturday Night Live brought us a mass of talent who have since become mega-stars in movie and/or television. I had to make this list, scrap the list, edit the list, add and take away from the list, and do it all over again before landing on a final ten. I’m still not sure I have this right, because it’s also a bit subjective too. There are huge names not on this list, like Jimmy Fallon, Kristen Wiig, Chevy Chase, Tim Meadows, Chris Rock, Andy Samberg and various others. Yes, each of these names appeared on the list at one point or another, but I decided on this ten based on their memorable moments on SNL, their impact on the show, and yeah, the things they went on to do afterwards. Some are here because their runs on SNL were iconic,...

The 27-minute concert, filmed at Ralph Lauren’s flagship store in the emcee’s hometown of Chicago, featured smooth tracks like “Work Out,” “Summer Friends” and “Ballin Flossin.” Early on in the show, Chance addressed his unique surroundings, noting, “I grew up...

After only adding one new program on Saturday, Netflix have released two new movies and one new TV series today. In a week where the streaming platform continues to add a diverse range of content, today we received the films Goldie and Woodshock, as well as season 1 of Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, joining K-drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay‘s premiere yesterday.
For those unfamiliar, Woodshock is an A24 title starring Kirsten Dunst as a woman who begins experiencing strange hallucinations after taking a powerful drug. Most of the action revolves around Dunst’s character Theresa taking poison-laced joints that, rather than killing her, put her in an increasingly fragile mental state that turns fantastical. While Woodshock divided critics upon its 2017 release, it looks to be worth checking out.

There’ve been so many phenomenal movies and shows to release over the past few months on Netflix, but the streaming service never stops delivering even more content for subscribers to watch. Like most days, today marks yet another drop of exciting titles to check out, so let’s take a look at some of what you might want to be adding to your list this week.
For starters, a long-forgotten Zac Efron movie is landing on the platform today. 2010’s Charlie St. Cloud is a drama about a young sailor whose brother passes away in a fatal accident, leaving him stricken with guilt and grief. Unfortunately, however, what could’ve been a truly compelling story is lessened significantly by a weak script and cheesy dialogue. The film currently sits at 27% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s somehow amassed a bit of a cult following over the years, so if...

Continuing our series of writers highlighting underappreciated films: a bittersweet comedy drama about infertility
Hollywood’s depiction of infertility over the years has been, well, let’s say sporadic. When it does make it on to the screen, it’s usually played for laughs. Whether it’s adoption in Juno, surrogacy in Baby Mama or infertility in Raising Arizona, when it comes to women’s wombs, film execs have decided they need to throw in a good chuckle to make the subject more palatable. Just in case the grim reality of it all drives viewers away screaming in horror.

Netflix has confirmed that 47 new original movies, series, documentaries and specials will be debuting on the streaming service in June. Leading off the lineup are the debut of “Da 5 Bloods,” a film by Oscar winner Spike Lee about four Vietnam vets revisiting their past, and the second season of Ryan Murphy‘s satire “The Politician.” And just in time for Pride is season 5 of “Queer Eye.”
The documentary slate is filled with such varied films as “Spelling the Dream” about the Scripps National Spelling Bee, “Lenox Hill” about the staff of the famed New York hospital, and “Athlete A” about the sexually abuse scandal that rocked the Us gymnastics team
And in these trying times, we can take comfort in the slew of stand-up specials, including new sets by George Lopez, Jo Koy and Eric Andre, as well as such lighter fare as the Will Ferrell comedy “Eurovision Song...

As the summer begins to roll in it’s a time of endings for Netflix. No, Netflix isn’t going anywhere anytime soon obviously. The streamer continues to claim that its set up to churn out content through the rest of the year despite the coronavirus pandemic freeze on TV and movie production. Netflix’s new releases for June 2020, however, are highlighted by a couple of high profile finales.
13 Reasons Why premieres its fourth and final season on June 5. Before that, Fuller House is set to bow on June 2…though that franchise has been through the finale experience before so we’ll see about that. The Netflix original shows that are (presumably) in the middle of their run this month include Queer Eye (June 5), F is for Family, and The Politician (June 19).

I've always had a soft spot for half-hour comedies. Whether it's Seinfeld or Schitt's Creek, there's something intensely comforting about watching a group of characters crack jokes and overcome challenges in a tight 22 minutes. Now that we find ourselves universally in need of something warm and fuzzy, I have a recommendation for a show that's gone painfully under the radar for too long: Bless This Mess on ABC. If you just came here looking for a recommendation, there it is. Go watch it on Hulu now. If you need more convincing, read on.
Bless This Mess kicked off on ABC during the Spring TV season last year, meaning it didn't get the mega-marketing push that is granted to a lot of Fall TV releases. It's a fish-out-of-water story starring Dax Shepard and Lake Bell as Mike and Rio, two New Yorkers who move to Nebraska to take over the farm once managed by Mike's family.

Three cheers for Tina Fey! Today is her birthday and we think that's a cause for celebration, don't you? Beginning in the late '90s, circa 1997 to be exact, Fey has been making us laugh as a writer on Saturday Night Live and then a star on the sketch comedy show and our world hasn't been the same since...thank goodness. After SNL, the fierce female took comedy to the next level with her own series, 30 Rock, and films like Mean Girls, Baby Mama, Sisters and more as an actress, writer and producer. Oh, and then there was Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Clearly, Fey has been keeping herself busy, but she hasn't been doing it all alone. She's had one of the funniest...

Isla Fisher and Matt Walsh will star in a new comedy from award-winning editor Debra Neil-Fisher, titled “Unplugging.”
Walsh penned the script with Brad Morris (“Cougar Town”), and both are set to produce alongside Deborah Liebling (“Pen15”), Stephanie Laing (“Veep”), and Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel for The Traveling Picture Show Company. Radiant Film International will handle foreign sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival; The Gersh Agency and UTA Independent will co-represent domestic sales.
“Unplugging” follows Dan and Jeanine Dewerson, who don’t really have that much spark in their relationship anymore. Their daughter only focuses on her iPad. So Dan plans a quiet, relaxing weekend in a remote mountain town with no kids, no phones and no social media. Of course, everything goes crazy as cranky locals and strong edibles get thrown in the mix.

I have learned that the company is in advanced negotiations with Lionsgate Television for a two-season order to anthology series Manhunt. I hear the first of the two 10-episode seasons would chronicle the manhunt for domestic terrorist Eric Rudolph, known as the Olympic Park Bomber. It will be shepherded by the core creative team behind Manhunt: Unabomber, led by executive producer John Goldwyn and writer/executive producer Andrew Sodroski. Reps for Charter and Lionsgate declined comment.
Manhunt was originally set at Discovery Channel with its first installment, the 2017 Unabomber, marking the cable network’s first limited scripted series. Manhunt: Unabomber, starring Sam Worthington and Paul Bettany, drew strong reviews, delivered respectable numbers on Discovery and reportedly also did well in its Svod window on Netflix. In the first “Hotel Transylvania,” Count Dracula’s refusal to conform to the clichés of vampire legend was a mantra for the whole movie, a fast-paced and joke-filled riff on monster mythos that, in its best moments, played like a self-contained Looney Tunes version of “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.” After that mildly pleasant surprise, the sequel mostly abandoned the monster hotel conceit in favor of a lackadaisical venture into the human world and Drac’s vain attempt to coax fangs out of his half-human grandson. Now “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation,” by far the worst of the series, spends virtually no time in the hotel and runs out of commentary on classic monsters, despite renewing the rivalry between Dracula and the vampire slayer Van Helsing. In the dead of summer, younger audiences won’t likely care that it’s blah, blah, blah, and it seems destined to drain another $150 million out of parents’ pockets.

The first film being developed under the new film deal is “Baby Nurse” with Leslie Jones and Colin Jost attached to star. Austin Winsberg wrote the original screenplay about a special agent assigned to the most humbling undercover role in the history of the FBI. Jude Law thought the model pregnant with his child was taking the contraceptive pill. The 'Sherlock Holmes' actor was "stunned" to discover Samantha Burke is carrying his fourth child following a brief romance at the end of last year, because he believed she was taking precautions against having a baby.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Jude assumed she was taking the Pill. He was stunned at being informed of the pregnancy. Jude feels he's been made to look the bad guy. One of the reasons their brief relationship didn't work out was because Samantha was a little too keen."
"She claimed she was falling in love after just a couple of weeks. It was probably a bit too much too soon."
Other sources claim 24-year-old Samantha was "inexperienced" with men before she met Jude, 36, which has made the shock pregnancy even harder for her family to deal with.
