How about the Hans Zimmer “bwong” sound in a national anthem? It could happen, with reports coming out of Saudi Arabia that the Oscar-winning composer is in talks to create, or re-create, the country’s national anthem.
In a report published in the Saudi newspaper Al Arabiya, the country’s head of General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al al-Sheikh, met with Zimmer and discussed various projects that the composer could potentially work on, including re-creating the national anthem by “using different instruments.”
The current Saudi anthem, called “The Chant of the Saudi Nation,” was written in 1947 by the Egyptian composer Abd al-Rahman al-Khatib at the request of the country’s founding monarch King Abdulaziz.
According to Al Arabiya, Al-Sheikh also discussed with Zimmer the possibility of a new, original composition called “Arabia,” as well as a possible concert. Zimmer is also reportedly in talks to work on the soundtrack for an...

28 Days Later marked the second collaboration for director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland after 2000's The Beach. While the latter isn't widely seen as a seminal work for either creative, the former certainly is. The 2002 zombie thriller stars Cillian Murphy as Jim, a survivor who attempts to traverse London in search of sanctuary following the outbreak of the Rage Virus in the U.K.
Boyle and Garland returned as executive producers for the sequel, 28 Weeks Later (2007), but Boyle is now back as director and Garland as screenwriter for the upcoming 28 Years Later, which marks a reunion after 18 years of working on their own projects. In those 18 years, Boyle directed movies like Slumdog Millionaire (2008), 127 Hours (2010), and Steve Jobs (2015), while Garland moved into directing with projects like Ex Machina (2014), Annihilation (2018), and Civil War (2024). Now, it's been revealed why the pair didn't work together for so long.

The first movie that Christopher Nolan made for a big Hollywood studio is still the most underrated film of his career — and even the director himself agrees. Ever since his groundbreaking Batman reboot made him a household name, Nolan has practically been a franchise unto himself. Along with Quentin Tarantino, he’s one of the only filmmakers whose name alone can attract huge crowds to movie theaters. No one else could make a blockbuster out of a three-hour biopic of a physicist, but Oppenheimer became Nolan’s highest-grossing non-Batman movie (and third highest-grossing film overall).
Nolan is one of the only directors left who can command a nine-figure budget for an experimental original story. He earned enough trust with Warner Bros. to get them to commit as much money to movies like Inception, Interstellar, and Tenet as they would a reliable comic book movie. Nolan’s next film, a star-studded adaptation of The Odyssey,...

Leonardo DiCaprio has been a Hollywood giant since he appeared in two breakout roles in 1993. The actor accepted roles in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? and This Boy's Life. Gilbert Grape helped DiCaprio earn his first Academy Award nomination, and it would be the first of many. After all, he has enjoyed critical renown since the early days of his career. Through today, the actor has earned seven Oscar nominations, while bringing home one win for Best Actor in The Revenant.
It is hard to overstate the renown that DiCaprio's career has received. He starred in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Inception (2010), The Great Gatsby (2013), Django Unchained (2012), Killers of the Flower Moon (2024), and more. With such a prestigious career, DiCaprio has ushered in over $7 billion at the box office, and his career is far from over. DiCaprio's best movies are filled with romance, mystery, and acclaim.

Christopher Nolan crafts cinematic puzzles that fry your brain in the best way possible. But even the genius behind Inception and The Dark Knight had his fair share of haters, claiming he’s all brains and no heart. Enter Interstellar — a space odyssey that slapped those critics sideways with one gut-wrenching, soul-baring scene unlike anything Nolan had ever done.

Hans Zimmer names Inception his most technically innovative film score. Directed by Zimmer's frequent collaborator Christopher Nolan, Inception was released in 2010 and earned over $839 million worldwide. It starred Leonardo DiCaprio among an ensemble cast and followed a group of people with the ability to infiltrate and influence others' dreams. It earned positive reviews and was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning four.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Zimmer reflected on the creative process behind the Inception score, explaining how he manipulated the very fabric of time through music. He described Inception as a perfect example of this technique, where different musical elements at varying tempos intersected in harmony, creating a soundtrack that was as integral to the storytelling as the visuals. Zimmer also touched on his work for Nolan's Interstellar. Check out his comments below:
Inception because I managed to go and f--k with the very fabric of time.

Hans Zimmer and frequent collaborator Christopher Nolan have quite the bond — so much so that Nolan even courted Zimmer for his 2014 epic “Interstellar” by sharing a very personal story.
Zimmer told Vulture that his favorite Nolan collaboration remains “Interstellar” due to how the project began.
“Chris sent me a letter and said to write whatever came to me. He wouldn’t tell me what the movie was, but he wrote me this fable,” Zimmer said. “It arrived on thick paper, and I know it was typed with his father’s typewriter. It was really about what it means to become a father, how you always look at yourself from then on through your children’s eyes.”
Zimmer continued, “He knows my son Jake very well, so I thought that’s what he was writing about. So I basically wrote a love theme to my son. I finished around ten at night.

Amid the announcement of Christopher Nolan's next magnum opus, an adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron, two of his most talked-about movies made their way to Netflix. On January 1, the streaming platform added Inception and Interstellar to its streaming library, a nice little New Year's gift for its subscribers as 2025 rolled in.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as professional dream thief Dom Cobb, Inception was what the internet liked to call a complete mind-fuck when it first came out in 2010. For many viewers, it did not make a lot of sense up until a second or third watch, yours truly along them. But several five-star reviews, millions at the box office, and eight Oscar nominations later, it became evident that Nolan had broken new ground in Hollywood.

Seven years after Killing Eve debuted, I am still impressed by how the show reversed the fridging trope. Killing Eve followed British intelligence agent Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) as she pursued the ruthless and unpredictable assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). Eve and Villanelle's cat-and-mouse dynamic went in unexpected directions as the two characters became obsessed with each other and developed a complex relationship. After four seasons, Killing Eve's ending proved to be divisive, but the overall series, particularly season 1, still remains well-regarded.
One of Killing Eve's greatest strengths was its ability to reverse the fridging trope, which is primarily associated with female characters. The trope involves characters being killed or harmed as a catalyst for the plot and as motivation for the protagonists. Several Christopher Nolan movies, including Memento and Inception, use this trope, as do many superhero stories, ranging from the death of Peter Quill's mother in...

Did Christopher Nolan crash a Boeing 747? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Instead of tinkering with CGI or scaling down to toy planes, Christopher Nolan went full throttle and crashed a real Boeing 747. Because apparently, blowing up a 230-ton jet is just another Tuesday in Nolan-world.
Turns out, buying and wrecking a plane was actually cheaper than faking it. Nolan broke it down, explaining, “We started to run the numbers… It became apparent that it would actually be more efficient to buy a real plane of the real size and perform this sequence for real.”
A place in California had planes lying around (as one does), so Christopher pulled the ultimate “add to cart” move. Cue Scott Fisher (special effects guru) and Nathan Crowley (production design wizard), who figured out how to make a plane-smashing scene work in real life. The result? A hangar-shaking spectacle that even Nolan called “a very exciting thing to be a part of.

In the layered and complicated history of DC’s live-action film industry, one of the most iconic films to ever come into existence was Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Spanning the eras of birth, evolution, and death, the three films rewrote DC history through the enigmatic lens of Nolan’s visionary saga.

But for every great creation, there also exists an antithesis that argues against everything that a work stands for. Nolan’s Dark Knight saga too came under fire for representing a worldview that was deemed problematic by some fans. Although art is always up for interpretation and exploration, fans can often lend the wrong meaning to a project, thus ruining its central message and making it divisive among fans, as a result.

Christopher Nolan always aims big, and his latest project is no exception. Renowned for his mind-bending stories and blockbuster success, Nolan is now bringing Greek mythology to life with The Odyssey.
You know, Homer’s ancient epic—the one that’s about gods, monsters, and Odysseus taking the scenic route home for a decade. Well, Nolan’s tackling it with a film that has a million-dollar price tag. It’s so massive, it makes Interstellar and Oppenheimer feel like indie flicks.

Christopher Nolan, a revolutionary filmmaker, who has created cinematic masterpieces like Inception, Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight Trilogy, is now set on his most ambitious project yet. His upcoming film, The Odyssey, is an adaptation of ancient Greek poet Homer’s epic poem with a staggeringly high budget.

Was Leonardo DiCaprio glad that he didn’t win an Oscar early on? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Yes, you read it right. “I really didn’t want to win because just the fact you have such an expectation on you at that time, people almost want you to be perfect in everything you do,” DiCaprio alluded in a 2016 interview with Time Out. “If you’re not, then it’s almost like, ‘Ok, get him out of here; he was lucky once, and now we’re done with him.”
He had a point. Winning young could’ve boxed him in. Instead, it pushed Leonardo DiCaprio to evolve with each role, avoiding typecasting. Fast forward to 2016, after Inception, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Blood Diamond, and he finally grabbed that Oscar for The Revenant—his fourth nomination, and he was ready.

The world of cinema has often blurred the lines between homage, inspiration, and imitation. For instance, Christopher Nolan’s 2010-released movie, Inception took the world by storm with its mind-bending narrative, stunning visuals, and intricate exploration of dreams. Yet, this blockbuster bears a striking resemblance to a fascinating work by a veteran anime filmmaker: Satoshi Kon’s Paprika.

Released four years prior to Nolan’s blockbuster, Paprika explores the convergence of dreams and reality through advanced technology and psychological intrigue. While some argue that Inception was borrowed heavily from Paprika‘s core premise, others see it as a coincidence or an homage.

Accusations that long-running comedy shows have lifted material from internet sketches isn’t all that uncommon, just as long as the show is Saturday Night Live. But South Park, on the other hand, rarely faces charges of plagiarism. But the animated series did steal verbatim dialogue from an online comedy video one time — although it was apparently a complete accident.
The 2010 episode “Insheeption” parodied the Christopher Nolan blockbuster Inception, which had come out that summer. But in the South Park version, Leonardo DiCaprio and his crew of gun-toting mercenaries enters Stan and Mr. Mackey’s dreams while a doctor is attempting to cure them of their hoarding problems. Oh, and Freddy Krueger is there, too.
The show pulls a lot of its material directly from Inception, including a healthy dose of convoluted nonsense about dream levels and limbo, all accompanied by acapella “BWAAHs!”

Whether he is playing a transgender woman or delivering spine-chilling performances in Christopher Nolan’s blockbusters, he sure has a knack for pulling us into his world and keeping us there. His range is simply insane and let’s not even talk about the Irish charm that gets us all going!

While Cillian Murphy had already established himself as a prodigy with films like 28 Days Later, Batman Begins, and Inception, it was the period drama Peaky Blinders that made him a household name. However, as the actor climbed the ranks thanks to his portrayal of the razor-wielding Thomas Shelby, there was something he just couldn’t get used to – being photographed all the damn time.

Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning movie that made $740 million at the box office has landed on Netflix's Top 10 US chart a decade later. The visionary filmmaker is known for masterfully combining complex storytelling with visual spectacle, which often does very well at the box office, making him the seventh-highest-grossing director of all time, and is often showered with major accolades, including two Oscars. One of Nolan's first films, 2000's Memento, did very well at the box office, grossing over $40 million on a small $5–9 million budget and received two Oscar nods, one for Nolan's nonlinear screenplay.
Nolan's first true blockbuster was The Dark Knight, which made over $1 billion at the box office, the highest-grossing film of 2008, and won two Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger's menacing performance as the Joker. Next, Nolan leveraged that success to make his own original sci-fi film, Inception, which also saw box office success,...

While the news that Christopher Nolan’s next movie will be an adaptation of The Odyssey is exciting, this does represent a major departure for the director. All of Christopher Nolan’s movies are different, but there are a few major thematic preoccupations that link the director's works to each other. Nolan’s earlier efforts, like Following, Memento, and Insomnia, all tackle the slippy nature of memory and the subjective nature of reality. His Dark Knight trilogy is concerned with narratives of law and order against anarchy, and questions of what constitutes justice in a morally gray, ambitious world.

Christopher Nolan's next movie will be a fresh cinematic adaptation of the Odyssey, one of history's most impressive and enduring epics.
While Inception, Interstellar, and Tenet play with time, physics, and nested realities, Nolan’s most recent movie, Oppenheimer, tackled real-life history.

When Hans Zimmer joined the team behind Crysis 2 in 2011, it was a big deal because of the prestige he carried at the time. Zimmer was renowned for his cinematic scores and was tasked with crafting the game’s main themes, while Borislav Slavov and Tilman Sillescu composed the bulk of the soundtrack.

But Zimmer’s involvement didn’t come without controversy. There were accusations that his work contributed to the “homogenization” of music in media which prompted Slavov to defend the legendary composer. Reflecting on the collaboration, Slavov talked about Zimmer’s invaluable contribution to the ambitious game.

James Bond fans are a finicky lot. Nowadays, the majority of them were introduced to the character via the movies, which invariably drove them to breeze through Ian Fleming's eminently readable novels. When they come out on the other side of that experience, they're either more nit-picky about the films or more open to the multitudes this licensed-to-kill MI6 agent can contain depending on who's writing him and, of course, who's brandishing the trusty Walther Ppk.

Christopher Nolan’s incredible sci-fi drama, Interstellar, has finally landed on Netflix to ring in 2025, and its awards history may prove surprising given the film’s enduring popularity and acclaim. Since early in his career, Nolan has continued to exemplify a mastery of high-concept sci-fi and action films, such as with Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, and Tenet. In the decade since the movie’s release, the argument that the apex of Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic filmmaking arrived in 2014 with Interstellar has only received more support, laying the groundwork for the director’s massive achievements with films like Oppenheimer.
Interstellar debuted with positive reviews and an impressive box office showing for a non-franchise Nolan project. Following its IMAX re-release in December 2024, Interstellar has amassed over $740 million against a $165 million budget (via Box Office Mojo), and currently holds a 72% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The 1966 adventure fantasy film One Million Years B.C., featuring Raquel Welch and John Richardson, continues to spark awe in the visual effects industry nearly seven decades after its release. Known for its portrayal of a fictionalized past between prehistoric creatures and angry cavemen, the film exemplifies Ray Harryhausen’s iconic mastery of stop-motion animation. Directed by Don Chaffey, the film went on to receive relative success as the UK's ninth most popular theatrical release of that year.
Recently, the VFX artists of Corridor Crew analyzed a few high-stakes action shots from the film, highlighting Harryhausen’s intricate techniques with a deep admiration for the artistry and patience involved. The late special effects creator is best known for pioneering a stop-motion technique dubbed "Dynamation," which integrates animated models, such as clay dinosaurs and sticks, into live-action sequences. Was Cillian Murphy emotionally impacted after Interstellar? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Alright, let’s go full throttle, because Cillian Murphy isn’t here for the bland, generic interviews—he’s keeping it real and revealing his heart in the process.

Not Inception, not The Dark Knight. Nope. It’s the 2014 sci-fi tearjerker about wormholes, time, and McConaughey crying in space.
But Murphy’s not mad about missing out. “I adore Interstellar just because I find it so emotional. I remember seeing it in the cinema when I had little kids. It just had a big impact on me. It broke my heart. I love watching his films when I’m not in them because you don’t have to freak...

Michael Caine's perfect James Bond replacement, The Ipcress File, was unfortunately cut short by two back-to-back sequel flops. With more than 175 acting credits to his name, Caine has starred in classic movies such as The Man Who Would Be King (1975), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), Get Carter (1971), and Alfie (1966). Caine is also celebrated for starring in several of Christopher Nolan's best movies, such as Interstellar, Inception, The Dark Knight, and The Prestige.
The Ipcress File was released in 1965 and starred Caine and a clever spy in London named Harry Palmer. The film was directed by Sidney J. Furie and also featured appearances by Nigel Green, Guy Doleman, Sue Lloyd, and Gordon Jackson. The Ipcress File received an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 97% matched with an audience score of 85%. The success and acclaim of the first film sparked two back-to-back sequels in 1966 and 1967, which tanked hard and essentially sunk the spy franchise.

After months of speculation about Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to his critical and box office hit “Oppenheimer,” which won him the Best Director Oscar, Universal Pictures unveiled before the holidays on X that he will be bringing Homer’s “The Odyssey” to the big screen.
“The Odyssey” is a classic piece of literature by Homer that is divided between 24 different books, preceded by “The Iliad.” It tells the 10-year journey story of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, as he travels home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters multiple perils and discovers the death of his crewmates. Telemachus (Odysseus’ son), Penelope (Odysseus’ wife), Athena, Circe, Poseidon and Zeus are all major characters.
Historians and scholars date “The Odyssey” to sometime between 750-650 BC. The first printed Greek version became available in 1488. In the centuries since, it has remained one of the most studied, adapted and parodied stories ever with...

Denis Villeneuve's best movies include Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and both of his Dune films. The exceptional ratings that all these movies have achieved are a result of complete dedication from Villeneuve and his entire crew.
To ensure everyone remains focused on the sets of his films, Villeneuve told the Los Angeles Times that he bans the use of cellphones. Inception is arguably one of the most ambitious movies Christopher Nolan has ever helmed, which is saying a lot given his stature as a director. While on paper, the Leonardo DiCaprio-led film is essentially a heist movie, an aspect that Nolan mastered in the opening minutes of The Dark Knight, it’s the concept that makes it the most distinctive addition to his filmography.

Being a lover of Hollywood and cinematic movies, Nolan is a lover of James Bond movies. Well, the director had a very subtle yet iconic homage dedicated to the iconic franchise in a film that took him 10 years to write.
Christopher Nolan is a fan of James Bond
Starting from the 1960s to the present times, Ian Fleming’s novels about a British agent have been turned into countless movies starring a plethora of actors. From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, the James Bond franchise is one of the most beloved franchises in the world.

Tom Holland will compete against Tom Holland at the box office in 2026 with Spider-Man 4 and Christopher Nolan’s untitled movie coming out a week from each other. Following the astonishing success of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, it was only a matter of time before Sony and Marvel confirmed another Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland. Shortly after Spider-Man 4 was officially announced, news broke that Holland is also going to star in Nolan’s next movie, meaning the Spider-Man actor was now set to star in two 2026 blockbusters.
Even at a time when a lot of superhero films are having surprisingly disappointing theatrical runs, franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe are still a relatively safe bet when it comes to the box office. This is particularly true when A-list characters like Spider-Man are involved. Not many directors can make an original film compete with franchises as big as Spider-Man,...

Despite an enviable filmography that affords him the luxury of increasingly impressive projects, there is one, 22-year-old, underrated Christopher Nolan film that I would like to see the director channel more in the future. Nolan has built up his reputation as one of the best directors working today, making mostly original IPs into mega-successful blockbusters, as well as turning his hand to a major fandom with The Dark Knight trilogy.
Pull focus out, though, and Nolan's filmography is varied, with a good mixture of multiple genres, despite unifying themes. Nolan isn't pumping the brakes soon either, even after his Award-winning Oppenheimer. His next project will be a huge undertaking: an adaptation of Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, with the mythic fantasy starring a rich vein of talent including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong'o.
The scale of that project should come as no...

26 years into his career, Christopher Nolan is charging along on one of the most remarkable creative and commercial runs the film industry has ever seen. Since he burst onto the scene with his breakthrough second feature "Memento" in 2001, all he's done is make one critically acclaimed box office hit after another. Considering the sizable budgets he's become accustomed to working with, it's a winning streak that any of our big-swing maestros can't match. Even Steven Spielberg experienced critical and/or commercial turbulence at this point in his career, with films like "1941," "Empire of the Sun," "Always," and "Hook." But aside from "Tenet" (which would've been a blockbuster had the Covid pandemic not kept the vast majority of moviegoers out of theaters over the summer of 2020), all of Nolan's films have doubled their production budgets at the global box office, and are currently rated fresh at Rotten Tomatoes.

In case you haven't heard, Christopher Nolan's deeply heartfelt space drama, "Interstellar," was recently re-released in IMAX to celebrate its 10th anniversary, and it has become a box office hit all over again. Upon its announcement, the film's entire one-week-only run quickly sold out across 166 screens, grossing a higher per-theater average than box office juggernauts like "Wicked" and "Moana 2." Tickets became so hard to find that they were being scalped and price gouged on the secondary market, like cinema's Taylor Swift. In response, IMAX has since extended the run twice over, capitalizing on the film's strong word-of-mouth and turning it into one of the year's must-see films... again!
The return of "Interstellar" proves why IMAX is the future of filmgoing. The company is estimated to earn over $1.2 billion in revenue this year, somehow surpassing their unprecedented $1.06 billion gross from 2023. However, it isn't just IMAX that is bringing in the big bucks.

Christopher Nolan's Inception took the world by storm in 2010 with its complex dream-based worldbuilding, and while some of the movie's rules are still hotly debated to this day, certain pieces of canonical dream lore are more strongly established in the story. Although Inception's ending boasting such a subjective nature is a large part of why the movie is still talked about today, there are also several ongoing conversations about the rules Nolan wrote that his characters had to abide by while dreaming.
As one of the best of Christopher Nolan's movies, Inception is also one of his most cerebral projects. Inception's cast isn't only riddled with huge names, but every star contributes to the thrilling storyline with incredible performances. It can be difficult at times to understand the movie's logic, especially in the scenes that move at a faster pace than others. However,...
