You can watch not only animated films with your kids but also real films: sci-fi, thrillers, adventure, fantasy, even some horror. The list is small but growing. Some you can watch with little ones, some just with teens but you won't have awkward moments watching these. And some of these films provide a lesson to learn.

An interesting topic for teens because everyone is crazy about instagram (grabs their attention) but be careful, there are some swear words. It's good to discuss the film later as it shows the negative sides of social media and how we have to be careful. And you don't have to push them, kids are happy to share their opinion.

Votes: 12,634

A thriller with almost completely no blood and with the moral. Nothing sexual either. There are only two kisses in the film. A little bit of smoking but with a negative attitude towards it. One occasion of wine drinking. Well,.. there are swear words.

10. Corrina, Corrina (1994)

Director: Jessie Nelson | Stars: Ray Liotta, Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Majorino, Noreen Hennessey

Votes: 14,167 | Gross: $20.16M

Incredibly kind, heart-warming film which touches a very sensitive topic - the little girl in the film is dealing with her mother's death. The only minus is too much of cigarettes, but during the depicted period of time they were super popular and when I watched this film as a kid (12) I didn't notice them, I was concentrating on the characters.

Director: Roland Emmerich | Stars: Kurt Russell, James Spader, Jaye Davidson, Viveca Lindfors

Votes: 205,054 | Gross: $71.57M

Good for teens, not for little ones 'cause there are some intense moments that could scare them. No sex, no alcohol, there is smoking in couple of scenes but then it's called stupid, no blood, almost no blood.. there is one person sliced in two parts at the end of the film, but yeah, almost no blood. Interesting story and decent special effects.

19. Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods - Final Cut (2009 Video)

The newly formed team SG-1, led by Colonel Jack O'Neill, goes on a rescue mission to the planet Chulak.

Director: Mario Azzopardi | Stars: Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge

Votes: 7,255

Continues the story of the original Stargate. This updated version doesn't have nude scenes. It neither has anything super violent, they shoot there but you can't see any blood. The only scene that is maybe intense is where an alien comes out of one person's stomach. They didn't have the same budget as the original film hence the costumes that aren't so good but the story is interesting.

Votes: 1,449,439 | Gross: $322.74M

Votes: 499

A comment from youtube by wearecity: This should be shown to all children between 11-15. Perhaps a bit too scary for young children, but certainly a valuable lesson in life. The sweetness that attracts them, but the stickiness that prevents them from getting away, is a very clever line.

Moral of the episode: don't go anywhere with strangers, and don't talk to them either.

This one isn't horror, it's a mistery story with spy teens. Reminded me of the books The Hardy Boys. Not the best film, 6ish something, but it has some nice morals and it is pretty entertaining with ocasional cheesiness. It's based on a cristian novel but there is nothing religious, only in the end they say some prayers.

No nudity, no swearing, good morals. But there a few scenes with people dying and getting hurt as it is a fight film (but not even close to nowadays horror and action films and videogames, so you decide from what age, maybe 12/13).

Votes: 409

I don't think kids should watch horror films, not until they are at least 12.. This one could be a good choice if you want to watch something scary. There is no nudity, no swearing, no blood. Just a ghost story that teaches kids to behave XD But again, decide if the child is ready for scary stuff.. There are some moments that could be really scary.

This is a horror/thriller movie rated PG13. I think nowadays many kids watch films with so many killings, that this one will be super tame although there are some pretty heavy scenes *but without details). The most part of the film is about a 14-year-old girl wanting to rebel against her mom and falling for a wrong guy. A very wrong guy. From this point of view the film can be very educational. You know, like a stranger-danger lesson.

An episode with Michael J. Fox that teaches the importance of humanity and compassion, shows that just knowing things isn't enough and that everyone makes mistakes. Also, the importance of childhood :) For teens.

And it's fun to see the world in 1981, the gynormous computers in particular XD

No sex, no nudity, some blood(not much) and a pretty shocking ending. If you're not afraid of MAJOR spoilers, check the parental guidence on imdb page for this film. In comparison to other horror films it's very tame. It is an interesting thriller/drama, more than a horror. However, there's a lot of profanity.

About a relationship between a stepmother and stepdaughter who have to survive harsh climate and some crminals. There is a scene in bed but it stops before anything serious and there is some violence.. It is a thriller after all. Not the best movie but still pretty interesting. I gave it 6 stars. There's not much stuff about stepmothers and stepdaughters out there.. Especially where they work out their problems.

An amazing movie. For older teens though, because there is a scary scene with a monster, some bloody scenes and some implied sex but you don't see anything directly. Probably the best adaptation of The Odyssey there is so far. I've seen it several times.
