The Crown is entering a new millennium in Season 6, Part 2 as Peter Morgan’s groundbreaking series comes to an end with its upcoming final six episodes on Dec. 14.
When we left off at the end of Part 1, the British royal family was navigating the aftermath of the sudden deaths of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) after their fatal car crash in Paris.
Picking up a few months after the tragedy, Part 2 sees Prince William and Prince Harry growing up, with the former (now played by newcomer Ed McVey) pursuing his studies at the University of St. Andrews. It’s time for some royal romance when William meets fellow student Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) during his time at uni.
Bellamy tells Tudum it was “a real privilege, for sure, and such a pleasure” to join the cast of such an acclaimed series. “I’ve always...

“The Crown” is gearing up for its last hurrah at the SAG Awards, an organization that has bestowed a number of prizes onto the Netflix regal show over the years. It claimed the highly coveted TV drama ensemble prize twice (2019 and ’20), while individual winners through the years were Claire Foy (2016 and ’17), John Lithgow (2016) and Gillian Anderson (2020). Now the sixth and final season is hoping to prevail for a third time, which would tie it with “Downton Abbey” in this category at three total wins.
Season 6 faces off in the TV drama ensemble race against fellow nominees “The Gilded Age,” “The Last of Us,” “The Morning Show” and “Succession.” Elizabeth Debicki is “The Crown’s” only solo acting nominee this year, with her co-nominees in the TV drama actress category being Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”), Keri Russell (“The Diplomat”) and Sarah Snook (“Succession”).

Prince William’s lips are sealed on The Crown. A royal biographer claims in their newest book the Prince of Wales refuses to share his thoughts on the now-completed Netflix series about the late Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. Instead, he simply “rolls his eyes” at mentions of the show. Ahead, why William doesn’t publicly discuss The Crown. Hint: It has to do with the royal family’s longtime motto. Plus, how he’s portrayed in the award-winning program’s final season.
William won’t publicly complain about ‘The Crown’ because he doesn’t want to be seen as a ‘complainer’
Between sharing details about the day Queen Elizabeth died and the Princess Lilibet name drama in his book, The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, author Robert Hardman discussed The Crown.

Exclusive: UTA has signed actor Luther Ford, who broke out with his turn as Prince Harry in The Crown‘s final season, for representation in all areas.
A film student booked from an open casting call, Ford can be seen in the Emmy-winning Netflix drama’s last set of six episodes, appearing opposite Ed McVey, who portrays Harry’s older brother, Price William. Released in two volumes, beginning last November, Season 6 hinges in part on the tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the impact the loss had on her two sons. It takes place from 1997 to 2005, during Tony Blair’s tenure as Prime Minister, and finds Harry the black sheep of the family, in contrast to William, who understands that he’s part of something bigger than himself, as part of the royal family. Friction and differences between the two are most highlighted in the finale, as Harry...

This year’s SAG Awards nominations for drama ensemble run the gamut in terms of total cast members nominated. You have “The Gilded Age” on one side with a jaw-dropping 34 people represented. And then you have “The Last of Us” on the other side with just two — hi, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey! HBO’s zombie apocalypse series has now tied the Screen Actors Guild record with “Key and Peele,” which was the first TV show to nab an ensemble citation with just two stars: Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.
The “Key and Peele” funny duo lost to “Orange Is the New Black” for comedy ensemble in 2016, which had a whopping 34 cast members nominated that year. Hmm, a two-person cast losing to a 34-person ensemble? Might SAG Awards history repeat itself? “The Last of Us” competes this year against “The Gilded Age” (34 cast members), “Succession” (18), “The Crown” (15) and “The Morning Show...

Apparently, The Crown’s depiction of young Kate Middleton wasn’t entirely true to real life. According to a historian, the now-Princess of Wales didn’t have reservations about her mother, Carole Middleton’s plan to get her and Prince William together. Unlike her character played by Meg Bellamy, Kate wasn’t “resisting” Carole’s idea of dating the now-Prince of Wales.
Kate didn’t appear entirely on board with Carole Middleton’s wish for her to date William in ‘The Crown’ Season 6
The final installment of The Crown saw the introduction of Kate as she, along with William (Ed McVey), headed off to college at Scotland’s University of St. Andrew’s.
Before crossing paths on campus, however, varying scenes showed everything Kate’s mom, played by actor Eve Best, did to get her daughter there with William.

Early in the final season of The Other Two, Cary Dubek (Drew Tarver) shows up at the distant and dingy offices of a Brooklyn-based burrito review website ready to do some press for his straight-to-vod indie movie — only to discover what he’s actually been sent to is a mental health facility. “You are here because anyone desperate enough to say yes to that level of press, and then actually show up to do it, is deeply unwell,” the doctor gravely informs him.
But if Cary’s predicament is an obvious and hilarious exaggeration, the impulse underlying it might feel uncomfortably recognizable. Fame exerts its own gravitational pull, whether you’re chasing it, existing in it or simply feeling its tug from outside of it. It’s no surprise it’s been a favorite topic of Hollywood for as long as Hollywood has existed — sometimes as an aspirational fantasy, sometimes as a cautionary tale.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s wedding day included lots of laughter. And reportedly Queen Elizabeth II was behind a lot of it. The late monarch giggled about the bride’s fashion mishap. Ahead, what the queen told the then-Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, and a room full of guests. Plus, where to see a version of Queen Elizabeth’s speech from King Charles and Queen Camilla’s wedding day.

Many people close to Queen Elizabeth II are depicted in The Crown Season 6 Part II, the final chapter of the Netflix original series. Largely it comes down to Prince Charles (Dominic West), Prince William (Ed McVey), and Princess Margaret (Lesley Manville). In between major storylines, however, is a quick glimpse of another person close to the late queen, her dresser Ahead, find out where to see The Crown’s depiction of Angela Kelly, the “unexpected fun” actor Lizzie Hopley had portraying her, and Prince Harry’s dispute with the real-life Kelly.
Queen Elizabeth’s former dresser, Angela Kelly, is depicted in ‘The Crown’ Season 6 Episode 10
Look for Kelly, as played by actor-writer Lizzie Hopley, in the series finale of The Crown, season 6’s tenth episode titled, “Sleep, Dearie Sleep.”
However, don’t be prepared for a verbal callout from Imelda Staunton’s Queen Elizabeth II. Kelly’s character isn’t referred to by name.

With the release of the last six episodes of The Crown on Netflix have come new questions about the fictionalized depiction of the British royal family.
In part two of the sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed historical drama, the stage is set for the future heirs to the throne as Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams) are granted permission to wed, and Prince William (Ed McVey) and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) rekindle their relationship after a brief break.
“Those couples coming together felt like a beautiful end to our story,” executive producer Suzanne Mackie told The Hollywood Reporter in a previous interview. “That, in a way, peace is restored to the land.”
In staying true to his original vision of ending the series in 2005, writer and creator Peter Morgan had to also find a way to conclude the Queen’s story...

The final episodes of The Crown are here, and they could very well leave Prince Harry “triggered,” according to a royal expert. Covering 1998 to 2005, the second part of the sixth and final season, which debuted with part I in November 2023, depicts the years following Princess Diana’s death. But it’s the series’ focus on the Duke of Sussex’s brother, Prince William, as played by Ed McVey, that could hurt Harry most.

Royal expert Tessa Dunlop, who has seen the final episodes of The Crown, told Ok! Magazine the focus on William “puts Harry’s feelings of being spare in context,” (via Express).
Take, for instance, the first episode of Part II. It’s titled “Willsmania,” and all about William grappling with his newfound attention from the public in the wake of Diana’s death.

We’re a dying breed; when the dialogue appears in one of the episodes, it feels almost ironic that this show, which once had been one of the most glorious visions a story could have, seems like dying a slow death – death, as slow as 24 frames per second. The Crown has a glorious past. A show based on the royal monarchs of England, this web series was something the world saw with glittering eyes. A captivating storyline, spot-on casting, and brilliant sets...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for “The Crown” Season 6, streaming on Netflix now.
The final episodes of “The Crown” have dropped and, as Netflix boss Ted Sarandos pointed out at the premiere of Season 5, that means Google searches will be going up, since many fans like to fact-check scenes from Peter Morgan’s royal drama while they watch.
“This is the story of Queen Elizabeth. This is the story of the royal family. Peter has told and dramatised these stories, some very memorable, some forgotten, judging by the Google activity that happens every time we drop a new season,” said Sarandos at the premiere last November.
Annie Sulzberger, who is head of research on the show, said that if fans spot discrepancies between real events and those on “The Crown,” those are intentional. “This is a drama, and dramatists have to look at history differently,” she told Variety. “These are not inaccuracies.

Spoiler Alert: This news story features details from Season 6 of The Crown
Peter Morgan may have brought the curtain down on The Crown decades before Prince William and Harry’s real-life feud, but it has not stopped him from imagining the early signs of discontent between the brothers.
The Crown’s final episode, now streaming on Netflix, foreshadows the cracks in their relationship as the two royals wrestle with adulthood and their royal duties.
The princes, played by Ed McVey (William) and Luther Ford (Harry), have a frosty exchange after being told by Imelda Staunton’s Queen Elizabeth II that their father Prince Charles (Dominic West) intends to marry Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams).
Prince William is grudgingly accepting of the idea, recognizing that it is important for his father’s happiness as he prepares to ascend to the throne. Prince Harry is less keen and says nothing as his...

Forget Justin Timberlake or Nick Carter, in the late ’90s there was one heartthrob above all others who was guaranteed to make girls go wild: Prince William.
With his blossoming good looks, fancy title and tragic backstory, the British royal became the subject of teenage dreams across the globe. His face was plastered across magazines, hordes of screaming girls would gather outside anywhere he was scheduled to make an appearance, and, cementing his status as a pop culture icon, he even had an unwitting cameo in “Princess Diaries 2” when his photo flashed up on screen as a potential husband for Anne Hathaway’s character Mia.
The right royal hysteria that gripped the late ’90s and early 2000s is recreated in the sixth and final season of “The Crown” in an episode titled “Willsmania,” in which the bewildered teenager, still reeling from the loss of his mother Princess Diana, suddenly finds...

The fifth episode of “The Crown’s” final season — and the first entry in the short-awaited Part 2 — is titled “Willsmania” — an awkward, silly name from which the gloomy series derives zero pleasure. How could it? After all, Prince William is still mourning the loss of his mother, Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), even as the English people shift their collective grief for the Princess of Wales into an outpouring of affection for her eldest son. “Affection” may be a bit misleading. Young women and girls scream at the sight of him, gathered behind police barricades, begging for an autograph, photo, or a passing touch. They’re fanatical, and the teen who would be king handles it as best he can, before escaping to the semi-private University of St. Andrews.
“The Crown,” however, rarely shakes its own case of Willsmania. The final season feels more like a set-up for “Will: The College Years...

An unexpected thing happens in the series finale of The Crown, which Netflix released today: Queen Elizabeth is the main character.
This would seem to be the most predictable thing in the world, right? The Crown began with Elizabeth’s unexpected ascension to the British throne at the age of 25, and it concludes a little over 50 years later. First Claire Foy, then Olivia Colman, and most recently Imelda Staunton have been playing the protagonist, haven’t they?

“The Crown doesn’t ask existential questions of itself,” Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) is told when she contemplates modernizing the British monarchy during a time of particularly frigid public opinion. “It suggests a loss of confidence. It’s putting blood in the water.” But if the Crown won’t pose those inquiries, Peter Morgan’s The Crown often has.
Since 2016, the Netflix drama has probed the British royal family from an array of angles, and in doing so asked us to consider what the monarchy is worth, what the monarchy is for, what the monarchy has cost the people at its center and the people around them and the nation they purport to serve — all conversations that feel, if anything, even more relevant in 2023. In its final six episodes, however, The Crown proves less interested in interrogating the status quo than admiring it. It surely makes for a sweeter finish.

Most stories that begin with “saw something on Twitter” don’t end well.
But for Meg Bellamy, the actress who’ll make her debut playing Kate Middleton on Netflix’s “The Crown” December 14, a social media post about an open call audition became a life-changing experience.
“I was a big fan of the show at the time,” the newbie actress, who didn’t even have an agent when she saw the post, told IndieWire. “I just thought, ‘Nothing to lose! I’m going to apply!’ And as soon as I applied, my neighbor actually texted me and said, ‘You should apply for this.'”
One might assume that if random neighbors are telling you to throw your hat in the ring, Bellamy’s resemblance to the future Princess of Wales was often remarked upon, but she says it was never mentioned to her. The parallels only became obvious when the...

Actor Dominic West turned down an opportunity to work alongside his son, Senan West, for the second time on The Crown. The 54-year-old, who reprised his role as Prince Charles in the sixth and final season of the Netflix series about the late Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, stopped his son from doing the same. Why? Because of the scene where Charles tells 15-year-old Prince William that Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) died.
West forbade Senan from portraying William in ‘The Crown’ Season 6 because he didn’t want to tell ‘a boy his mother has died’
A heartbreaking scene in The Crown Season 6 involves West, as the now-King Charles III, telling his sons, the Prince of Wales and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, that their mother, Princess Diana, played by Debicki, died in a 1997 car accident in Paris, France.

“The Crown” series finale premiere in London on Tuesday evening brought out the cast and creatives behind the hit Netflix show as well as a smattering of other familiar faces keen to catch a sneak peek of the last-ever episode.
Imelda Staunton, who plays the last iteration of Queen Elizabeth II in the fifth and sixth seasons of the series, led the red carpet. Despite the chaos around her — from reporters clamoring to ask questions to photographers shouting her name — the star told Variety her focus had always been on the character.
“I don’t look at maelstrom,” she said. “It doesn’t interest me. I just look at the script, look at the part, go to work.”
Newcomer Meg Bellamy, who joined the series as a college-age Kate Middleton for Season 6, was more emotional about getting the part, which also happened to be her first ever professional acting job.

One of the most polarizing series on Netflix is gearing up for its last episodes.
The first four episodes of The Crown Season 6 launched earlier this month and were as controversial as ever.
Will the series be able to go out on a more low-key note with the second batch of episodes?
We're not sure that's possible, but it would be interesting.
The last batch of episodes are set to premiere on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Once again, the hit drama is doing the time warp by leaping forward to find William (Ed McVey) and Harry (Luther Ford) growing up while trying to come to terms with the tragic loss of their mother, Diana.
In Part 2, "Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother's death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion," Netflix teases.

The last batch of episodes are set to premiere on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

In Part 2, "Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother's death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion," Netflix teases.

The final season of The Crown has arrived. Well, Part I, anyway, which consists of the first four episodes. And with it, the award-winning drama’s depiction of Princess Diana’s final days. That means scenes of actor Elizabeth Debicki frolicking in the sun prior to the fateful night in Paris, France, ending in the late royal’s death. Emotional to film for the cast, Debicki found herself “happiest on set” with two of her co-stars. Who exactly? Her TV children playing Prince William and Prince Harry.
