The Avengers: Infinity War chronicle might have ended, but the theories surrounding the characters and subsequent films still keep coming. Thanos was the main villain of the saga, and he wreaked havoc across the galaxy. As the Mad Titan went on a rampage to achieve his goals, the Avengers did everything in their power to stop him. Unfortunately, the heroes failed, and half of them got obliterated along with half the universe during the Blip.
Thanos was the classic villain who brought the Avengers to their knees. While his actions to restore balance to the universe were certainly extreme, what if he was driven by something else? A new theory suggests that it might have been because he was a Deviant.

Nia DaCosta is opening up about her time directing upcoming superhero film The Marvels.
The writer-director spoke with Vanity Fair ahead of the Nov. 10 release date of the Captain Marvel sequel, starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani. In the conversation, she revealed she turned to one of her fellow Marvel directors in particular during production when she was overwhelmed and stressed.
While she loved filming The Marvels, she admitted there were days when she texted Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton to vent about how she was feeling.
“Sometimes you’d be in a scene, and you’d be like, ‘What the hell does any of this shit mean?'” she told the publication. “Or an actor’s looking at some crazy thing happening in space, and they’re [actually] looking at a blue X. There were obviously hard days and days where you’re like,...

20th Century Studios just released the final trailer for The Creator and in addition to being surprisingly emotionally gripping, the visual effects are stunning. The new trailer for Gareth Edwards’ sci-fi epic, The Creator, has landed, courtesy of 20th Century Studios. In this final look at the film before its opening later this month, the young AI child curiously inquires Joshua, played by John David Washington, what heaven is. This poignant moment happens to almost any young person who is curious about faith and humanity and soul, but here, it kicks off the philosophical ambiguity of Edwards’ film.
The official synopsis for The Creator reads,
“Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself. Harry Styles appeared briefly at the end of the 2021 movie ‘Eternals’ as Eros/Starfox and was set to pocket up to $10 million for reprising the role in a spin-off titled “Eros and Pip”, but the project has reportedly been shelved amid Disney’s plans to scale back the various offshoots of the franchise.
“Marvel bosses were openly talking about Harry in a lead role but that talk has cooled. The whole business and Marvel franchise is being rethought. The focus is on creating the biggest projects with the biggest revenues. Harry’s character is a fun and beloved role but it is not realistically the number one choice to get the Marvel franchise bouncing back,” a source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper’s No Filter column, reports acehowbiz.com.
The update comes a few months after Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore teased Harry had a strong future with the franchise...

Now that John Williams is winding down with his prestigious career, one of the prominent blockbuster composers of the last couple of decades is Hans Zimmer. Most may know him from his work with Christopher Nolan, although Nolan has opted to work with Ludwig Göransson in his last two outings. Zimmer’s collaboration with Nolan on Inception even notably ushered in the trend of the “Bwaaam” musical sting that can be found in most trailers to help intensify and punctuate a dramatic turn.
Although Zimmer has had a career spanning many genres, his work is recognized chiefly from his big-budget sci-fi or action movies. Film Music Reporter has recently revealed that the maestro will be contributing his booming tones to the upcoming Gareth Edwards sci-fi film starring John David Washington titled The Creator. The official second trailer was recently posted online by 20th Century Studios and showcases a bleak future...

Los Angeles, July 18 (Ians) Actor John David Washington, son of veteran Hollywood actor Denzel Washington who is best known for his role in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi movie ‘Tenet’, will now be starring in another sci-fi film titled ‘The Creator’.
The movie will deal with the prospects of an evolved A.I. system, which much like Skynet from the ‘Terminator’ or the Machines from ‘The Matrix’ franchise is now fighting against the humans.
However, the stakes are different compared to the others, this time. Featuring massive production value, great CGI, action, explosions, thrills, a compelling original narrative and emotional weight, the trailer for the movie looks a visual and narrative treat, with an orchestral rendition of Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’ playing in the background.
The trailer presents a sci-fi yet rather grounded approach, as it shows John’s character becoming the protector of the very A.I. superweapon which he is meant to destroy.

Law enforcement is a complicated arena. There’s no room for error when lives are on the line, yet corruption seeps into the foundation repeatedly. Today, Disney+ unveiled FX‘s Class of ’09 trailer for the limited series from Tom Rob Smith, starring Brian Tyree Henry and Kate Mara.
“Class of ’09 is a suspenseful thriller limited series that follows a class of FBI agents set in three distinct points in time who acclimate and grapple with immense changes as the U.S. criminal justice system is altered by artificial intelligence,” says the show’s official description. “Spanning multiple decades and told across interweaving timelines, the series examines the nature of justice, humanity, and the choices we make that ultimately define our lives and legacy.”

The Spider-Man films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have referenced the world of Miles Morales before. Though Miles exists in a different universe than Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, the live action web-slinger did meet Miles’ small time criminal uncle Aaron Davis (Donald Glover) in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and in the closing part of Jon Watts’ MCU trilogy, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jamie Foxx’s villainous Maxwell Dillon aka Electro receives the news that infinite parallel universes exist by musing “there’s got to be a Black Spider-Man out there somewhere.”
Of course, there absolutely is, and he’ll be back this summer for a brand-new multiversal adventure! Not only that, but in the new trailer for Sony‘s upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the animated world of Morales’ wall-crawler is happy to clap back with a cheeky MCU reference of its own.

In April 2019, DC and Warner Bros. gave us the quippy and jokey "Shazam!" Directed by David F. Sandberg and produced by Peter Safran — who together with James Gunn now helms the newly-christened DC Studios — the film was somewhat of an outlier among the darker films of the Snyderverse. Zack Snyder had established the main continuity of the (now defunct) DC Extended Universe with blockbuster entries such as "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
But "Shazam!" was a more lighthearted, less ambitious project, focused on a hero with much less cultural caché than DC's biggest characters. And it proved to be a hit. With a global box office take of $363 million and widespread positive reviews, "Shazam!" proved DC and Warner Bros. could do family-friendly films and be successful.
But just a month before it, Marvel Studios had churned out its latest in the form of the Brie Larson-starring "Captain Marvel.

It’s over! It’s officially over. Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally in our rear view mirror, and what did we learn? We learned that Marvel Studios wasn’t going to stop taking risks after capping off Phase 3 with the box office juggernaut of Avengers: Endgame. In fact, they were going to take more risks than ever. Sometimes, those risks paid off. Other times, they did not. But during a transformative time for the MCU, Phase 4 was, for the most part, determined not to offer the one thing that would have made older fans happy but would have perhaps discouraged newer, younger fans from emerging: more of the same.
As such, the MCU got a whole slate of brand-new and diverse characters. Moon Knight, the Eternals, Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, John Walker, Ironheart, Agatha, Red Guardian, Clea, Echo,...

With Phase Four closed and the dawn of Phase Five just weeks away, people are beginning to look back at the past few years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The highlights of the phase are exactly what you expect, including fan-favorite Spider-Man: No Way Home and hit specials Werewolf by Night and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. And, of course, the more controversial picks like Black Widow and Eternals tend to linger near the bottom, despite their defenders.
And yet, when the Neilsen company released its streaming numbers for 2022, only one MCU entry cracked the top 15, and it’s not the one you’re expecting. Neilsen found that Eternals was the 13th most popular movie on streaming services last year, garnering 4.236 billion viewers on Disney+. This number is especially surprising given the relatively low box office numbers. According to Box Office Mojo, Eternals grossed only 164,870,234 (I did say...

Axe: Judgment Day is one of the most fascinating event comics of all time. It’s got all the trappings of a big summer mega crossover, and structurally, it delivers: there is a massive war between the Eternals and the X-Men. Thousands of mutants die (they get better). Captain America dies! He also gets better. Hell, pretty much the entire population of Earth dies. They get better too. It’s massive! It’s exciting! It’s thrilling!
But it’s also a fairly even split between enormous explosions and deep character studies. It pays off years of character development and existential shifts that Kieron Gillen, Judgment Day’s mastermind, has been building across multiple books. It’s the culmination of the story Gillen started in twelve issues and three one-shots of Eternals, and what he had an eye on as he started Immortal X-Men. Hell, it’s even a nice...

Although Eternals introduced some significant new elements to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the rest of the franchise hasn’t yet picked up the threads the movie left dangling. One of those threads involved the introduction of Eros, aka Starfox, an Eternal and brother of Thanos. Harry Styles played the role in the mid-credits scene of Eternals, but some have wondered if we’re ever going to see Starfox again.
While speaking with Deadline, Eternals producer Nate Moore confirms that there are more stories to be told with Harry Styles as Starfox. “We didn’t cast Harry for a tag, There’s more stories to be told with [Eros],” Moore said. “He’s a complicated character, but a really fun character. And I think, having met Harry Styles, he is as charming as you want him to be. And I think there’s no limit to how good that character’s going...

David Dastmalchian is double dipping in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who played Russian ex-con Kurt in Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) is returning for the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However he will not be playing Kurt, and instead is stepping into a new role, a character named Veb.
Dastmalchian is now one of the few actors to play multiple roles in the MCU. Gemma Chan appeared in Captain Marvel as Kree sniper Minn-Erva and then went on to lead Eternals as Sersi. On a different note, Mahershala Ali starred as the antagonist Cottonmouth in Marvel and Netflix’s Luke Cage and now is set to lead Blade.
Dastmalchian’s career has changed dramatically since he was first cast an Ant-Man nearly a decade ago. Back then, he was a struggling actor best known for small roles in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners.

Including the X-Men in the MCU is not that difficult, despite all reports. It’s even stated that their arrival to the franchise is akin to that of the Eternals, who were given a pass since they weren’t supposed to interfere with humans. Everyone saw how that one went. The X-Men have another reason for not interacting with humans, though. The fact is that mutants in the Marvel Universe have rarely found acceptance unless they can dampen their need to use their powers. Some have no choice since their mutation is highly visible, but many can move throughout humanity undetected.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been rife with cameos over the last fifteen years, from television hosts to hubristic billionaires who pick fights with rock stars. In Phase Four, the very nature of what makes a cameo was tested. Minor characters popped up for full episodes of "She-Hulk." Kevin Bacon played himself and became the McU-canon lynchpin of the "Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special." Bacon's ecstatic turn as himself pursued by Drax and Mantis is too substantial to be a cameo, but it works because it's cameo-adjacent. Great cameos take a recognizable actor or character and deploy them surprisingly for a brief period. Even if Bacon's appearance was supersized, it works because he seemed destined for the MCU in a marquee role. Here, director James Gunn takes advantage of the actor's self-awareness and makes him important to beloved Marvel characters.

Warning: The following article contains minor spoilers for "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is notably devoid of Transformers. Yeah, yeah, there are some robots in disguise lingering somewhere in the background -- at least, there are if the Eternals count -- but that's not the same thing as having Optimus Prime roll out with his armada of Autobots to do glorious battle against Doctor Doom. That would be the good kind of ridiculous, right? Fortunately, James Gunn agrees, and the man tends to get what he wants, partially because Marvel fired and then subsequently rehired him, partially because he's now helming the foundering DC Universe of live action stories, and partially because he's just that good. For those who don't know, Gunn is the creative mind behind the McU's "The Guardians of the Galaxy" films, as well as "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

This article contains Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spoilers
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finishes off Marvel’s chaotic and oversaturated Phase 4 and while there’s much to be said about the heroes of Wakanda taking up arms after T’Challa’s abrupt demise, one of the true highlights of the movie is Tenoch Huerta as Namor, the Sub-Mariner. The aquatic king known to his people as K’uk’ulkan is a revelation in Wakanda Forever. Not only does he steal whatever scene he’s in, but he already feels like a potentially major fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While an easy decision for them to make, it is fortunate that Marvel did not kill Namor off by the end of the movie. Instead, he remains in his Talokan kingdom, trying to make sense out of Shuri’s mercy in a way that vindicates his bloodlust against the surface world. Namor...

Life is a contradiction, a series of meetings and partings (as Dickens once put it) that both find conclusions and simultaneously never ends. For that reason, one of the functions of storytelling is to serve as a salve for humanity's endless struggle with time; unlike existence, stories can find resolution, allowing for understanding and acceptance to be more easily reached.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise experiment that's been running for the past decade and change boldly presented a kind of resolution in the form of 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," a movie that felt properly climactic. Yet the stories of so many characters that feature in it were never intended to end there, and as the MCU has moved into its fourth "phase" comprised of both feature films and TV shows, the onscreen Marvel world has struggled with finding a new path forward. Yes, new characters such as Shang-Chi and the Eternals have been introduced,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown quite a bit since we last visited Wakanda. We’ve met new comic characters in film form, like Shang-Chi, The Eternals and Ms. Marvel, as well as Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. Thor, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Doctor Strange have all received at least second if not third (or in Thor’s case fourth) installments within their respective hero’s journeys. But of course, the worst news involves the passing of Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed Prince and then King T’Challa in “Black Panther” (2018).
Boseman’s character has not been recast, and the legacy he left behind serves as its own presence in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The world of Wakanda has been slowly introduced over the last few years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it might be helpful to brush up on who has crossed the borders of the hidden nation,...

For nearly 15 years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been thriving on the big screen. In that time, True Believers have seen some of the biggest superheroes of all time like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor star in their own incredible movies. As the years went on, Marvel Studios has been able to bring a few deeper cuts from your local comic shop to the mainstream, like Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Shang-Chi, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. And now that Disney+ has been such a huge success for Kevin Feige and company, the floodgates are wide open to explore even more as shows like "WandaVision," "Ms. Marvel," and "She-Hulk: Attorney At Law" make a splash on the streaming service.

When making a movie about a superhero, there are two approaches a filmmaker can take. One can either tell the story from the beginning, detailing all the complicated circumstances that led to the creation of a Superman, a Batman, or a Morbius. Or one can pick up in medias res, depicting a superhero as already well into their career, their costume chosen, their ethos set. There is, of course, a third option, and that's to tell the story of a superhero's death or retirement, but those stories are painfully rare.
Prior to 2008, superhero movies were less common, and their origin stories were only sometimes covered. Leslie Martinson's 1966 film "Batman" never bothered to explain why Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson did what they did other than to explain that they supported their local police. Richard Donner's 1978 film "Superman," in contrast, followed Kal-El from his birth on a distant planet,...

Through the first three “phases” of its multi-decade storytelling mission, Marvel Studios’ films followed a fairly predictable rhythm. Each new phase would feature a handful of individual movie titles featuring characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, or the Guardians of the Galaxy before eventually culminating in an Avengers team-up film.
Marvel’s Avengers capped the end of Phase 1, Avengers: Age of Ultron largely wrapped up Phase 2, and Phase 3 played host to the epic Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. That Avengers tradition comes to an end with Phase 4, which is set to conclude with Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever this November. This might come as a shock to some MCU fans who’ve come to expect an epic Avengers finale for each phase. It’s all fairly understandable though. How the hell has Kieron Gillen never written a summer event comic before?
Gillen is the writer behind Eisner- and Hugo-nominated comics such as perennial Den of Geek favorites Once & Future and The Wicked + The Divine. But even before that, he was part of that mid-aughts wave of Image writers who took over Marvel’s flagship books. Gillen wrote a couple of excellent Utopia-era X-Men books (Generation Hope and Uncanny X-Men), as well as a beloved run with Kid Loki that helped inspire one Disney+ show and a relaunch of Young Avengers with Jamie McKelvie that is likely going to have an impact on the MCU further down the line. Spoiler Alert: This story discusses plot developments and the first post-credit scene in Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Love and Thunder,” currently playing in theaters.
Since its inception, Marvel Studios has famously used its post-credits scenes as bonus teasers for its upcoming movies. Sometimes, the scenes have pointed to a direct sequel, like when Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) showed Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) the Wasp suit at the end of 2015’s “Ant-Man,” presaging Hope’s ascension to title-role status for 2018’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” Just as often, they serve as a hand-off between characters: Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) visit to Stephen Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) sanctum at the end of 2016’s “Doctor Strange” sets up Thor’s search for his father in 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok.”
