When Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac at the end of 1974, the group set off on a path that made them one of the most commercially successful bands in the world. Nicks and Buckingham’s influence on the group cannot be understated. Their songwriting, vocals, and overall musical talent fit in with the band but also transformed it. It’s hard to imagine the band without them.

Still, Fleetwood Mac existed for years without them. Here are five of the band’s best songs that don’t feature Nicks. Most came out before she joined the band, but one is a classic from Rumours.

A previously unheard recording of “Need Your Love So Bad” — a blues song that late Fleetwood Mac frontman Peter Green sang with the group in its early days — will come out in conjunction with the release of a new book about Green, The Albatross Man, this October. Rolling Stone has a sneak peek of the track this Wednesday.
Green recorded the vocal in his mother’s attic sometime in the mid-Sixties; the more familiar recording of the track came out on Fleetwood Mac’s 1969 LP, The Pious Bird of Good Omen.

Toots and the Maytals have shared a new single, “Warning Warning,” following the group’s return to music earlier this year with the song “Got to Be Tough.”
Just as Frederick “Toots” Hibbert issued political truths on songs like “Monkey Man” and “54-46 Was My Number,” he does so here on “Warning Warning,” expressing anger at injustice and corrupt systems. “I’m giving you a warning/Don’t take it for granted,” Hibbert belts on the track’s bluesy hook.

Toots and the Maytals show off their pride for their native Jamaica in the new animated music video for “Got to Be Tough,” the group’s latest single.
Created by Nick Franco, the clip depicts an animated version of Frederick “Toots” Hibbert as he pays homage to the courage and strength of his fellow Jamaicans. But the song’s message proves universal, and timely: “Got to be tough when things get rough/You got to be tough and this is a warning/You got to be smart, living in this...

Fleetwood Mac brought their world tour down to Australia for a month-long run of shows late last week, and during the second concert at the Rac Arena in Perth Sunday they expanded the setlist by playing the Peter Green-era classic “Man of the World” for the first time since 1969. Check out fan-shot video of the song right here. “We’re going to debut this song now which was one of [Green’s] great songs,” Neil Finn told the crowd before they did it. “It’s an honor and a privilege for me to play it for you.

What kind of additions Neil Finn and Mike Campbell will make to Fleetwood Mac lineup is a question that will have to wait till the newly reconfigured lineup goes on tour in October. But at Largo Thursday night (May 3), some 280 fans got a partial glimpse as a pop-up show by father-and-son partners Neil and Liam Finn found Campbell as a surprise guest on two songs, one of them a deeper-than-deep Mac track.
“Playing at Largo is really about having wonderful surprises occur,” said the elder Finn, “and I’d like to welcome to the stage now a wonderful guitar player I’ve just had the extreme pleasure of learning how to play with — and there’s still more to learn, but for now let’s welcome Mike Campbell!” They then proceeded to perform a short but sweet version of Fleetwood Mac’s 1969 single “Man of the World,” a Peter Green...

Author Joe Conason, a 20-year student of Bill Clinton, made headlines with his new biography of the former president even before the book hit the shelves. (Remember that leaked dinner-party scene where former Secretary of State Colin Powell allegedly advised then-current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on her ill-fated private email server? It's complicated, right?) Now that Conason's Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton is in bookstores this week, we see that he tackles in 486 pages the even more complicated matters of Clinton's relationships with the biggest names in political headlines this season. Hillary Clinton's email scandal continues. On Friday, the New York Times reported that Clinton told FBI officials former Secretary of State Colin Powell had advised her to use a personal email account while she held the Secretary of State office herself. "Her people have been trying to pin it on me," Powell, 79, told People Saturday night at the Apollo in the Hamptons 2016 Night of Legends fête in East Hampton, New York. "The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did," Powell added. Why does the former diplomat believe this to be the case?...

How do you follow up a novel like A Brief History of Seven Killings, the Booker Prize–winning exploration of political and criminal violence in the Jamaican diaspora? If you're Marlon James, you head straight to the fantasy aisle: The author tells Man of the World magazine he's going to "geek the fuck out" and create his own fantasy series, kicking off with a book called Black Leopard, Red Wolf, which he describes as "an African Game of Thrones." As James puts it, "I realized how sick and tired I was of arguing about whether there should be a black hobbit in Lord of the Rings. African folklore is just as rich, and just as perverse as that shit. We have witches, we have demons, we have goblins, and mad kings. We have stories of royal succession that would put Wolf Hall to shame. We beat the Tudors two times over.

E!’s first-ever scripted series, The Royals, premieres this Sunday at 10 Pm. It follows a fictional British royal family, led by Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley), as they navigate scandals in the public eye. The show is undoubtedly influenced by the real-life shenanigans of several royal family members (*cough, Prince Harry, cough*). However, will fantasy be more salacious than fact? The show certainly has some big (read: crazy) shoes to fill.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a scandal the royal family hasn’t experienced. Affairs! Nude photos! Foot fetishes (more on that later)!
