Dominic Cooper (Preacher) and Haley Bennett (Swallow) have been tapped to star alongside Jason Clarke in The Last Frontier, Apple TV+’s upcoming dram series from Jon Bokenkamp (The Blacklist) and Richard D’Ovidio (The Call). The series received a 10-episode series order in February 2023.
Starring Clarke as US Marshal Frank Remnick, The Last Frontier follows Frank, the lone Marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska, whose jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with international political implications.
Bennett plays Sidney, a CIA Agent who is tasked with working with Frank. Cooper portrays Havlock, a former Navy Seal and fugitive who is being hunted by US Marshals and the CIA.

Twenty-three years into this new millennium, the war film genre feels at once antiquated and freshly-evolving. Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant plays like a bridge between both. Paced like a gritty, ’70s actioner while confronting the broken promises of our modern, battle-worn nation, the film is a fascinating piece of work.
Ahead of the film’s release this Friday, we were lucky enough to have a quick chat with co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim about the tough shoot, war movies, and hidden gems in their careers that they’d recommend. Check out the video interview below, followed by a transcription.

It’s last call for a number of great movies leaving HBO and HBO Max in March. Fortunately, the month is also packed with new movies and shows, but if you were planning to revisit any of the films below, now’s your chance.
The good news is you won’t have to squeeze in any binge-watching – there are no series leaving HBO Max this month, just films. Expiring titles of note include Sam Raimi’s definitive horror films “The Evil Dead” and “Evil Dead 2,” Wes Anderson’s charming coming-of-age romance “Moonrise Kingdom,” the Charlize Theron-led dramedy “Tully,” Judd Apatow’s “The King of Staten Island” starring Pete Davidson, and the musical drama “Dreamgirls,” starring Jennifer Hudson in the role that earned her the Oscar.
There are also several comedy favorites expiring in March, including both “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey,...

Back when WarnerMedia (which technically no longer exists in the same form) announced that it would be premiering its entire slate of 2021 films on HBO Max, this is the kind of month they likely had in mind. For HBO Max’s list of new releases in August 2021 is highlighted by an honest-to-goodness blockbuster.
The Suicide Squad is set to premiere Aug. 5 on HBO Max. This film featuring some of DC Comics’ most curious villains borrows its name, format, and many of its characters from the David Ayers-directed 2016 film Suicide Squad. This time around, the rogues gallery is directing by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and his colorful disposition. In addition to The Suicide Squad, August sees the arrival of the Hugh Jackman-starring Reminiscence on Aug. 20.

And just like that – here comes spring. Amazon Prime‘s list of new releases for April 2021 isn’t as cheery as one would expect from the sunny season. But perhaps that’s by design – you should be outside anyway!
Amazon’s most prominent original series for April 2021 is undoubtedly Them from multi-hyphenate Lena Waithe. This horror anthology’s first season, subtitled “Covenant”, will center on a Black family in the 1950s who move from North Carolina to a white neighborhood in Los Angeles. It premieres on April 9. Given its name and premise, Them is drawing some (largely joke-y) comparisons to Jordan Peele’s Us on social media. But hey, the world could always use some more Us.

While the first day of spring technically belongs to March, everyone knows that it kicks into high gear in April. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, Hulu is finally bringing back its signature original series for April 2021.
Season 4 of the multiple Emmy award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on April 28. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen June and her dystopian world. In fact, it’s been so long that our own world decided to endure its own dystopian pandemic in the meantime. Hopefully this series’ return will mean we can keep our political and social collapses on television where they belong.
Aside from The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu isn’t brining much else to the table in terms of originals this month. Thankfully, the one other original that Hulu has in store for April sounds completely righteous. Sasquatch, the latest docuseries from the Duplass brothers producing team, will cover exactly what the title promises.

From Thomas F Wilson in Back To The Future to Nicolas Cage and John Travolta in Face/Off - when actors play multiple roles...
The dramatic use of actors playing multiple characters is a bold and rather theatrical device that has its ups and downs. It goes at least as far back as Captain Hook being played by the same actor who plays the Darling children's father in stage productions of Peter Pan, a technique largely adopted in film adaptations of the story, too (hello to Jason Isaacs).
It's used a lot in cinema too. Done well, it's impressive, but when it's bad, it's Jack & Jill. Whether used in comedy or drama or outright horror, there are countless examples of actors delivering terrific performances in more than one role at once, and that's before we even get past Cloud Atlas. Still, we've had a go at totting up 25 of the best.

Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare) continues in horror with Mania. This "lesbian love story" gone awry now has a unique trailer. The clip features Vancouverite model and actress Tristan Risk (Bloody Mary) and up-and-comer Ellie Church. Together, these actresses, as Brooke and Mel, flee their home, after a brutal murder. The first trailer hosts a claustrophobic, gory vibe, with characters turned into bloodied mincemeat. As well, actor and producer Mem Ferda (The Devil's Double) has been attached to this feature. A preview of the film is hosted here. Ferda provides a behind-the-scenes look at the film. He states: "Mania is different. Its fresh, alarming, and draws from the sexual anxieties of early Cronenberg." Also, Ferda states that Mania is the first of three features, on which both Ferda and Cameron will collaborate. Mania is soon to release at several film festivals, now that production has completed. Fans of horror can...

It looks like the Marvel universe’s Howard Stark, Dominic Cooper, might be jumping ships to Preacher, from DC’s Vertigo imprint…
We don’t pass on every rumour we hear on this site, but this is one that has a certain air of plausibility to it - The Tracking Board is reporting that Dominic Cooper is allegedly top of the list to headline AMC’s telly adaptation of the Preacher comic.
We’ve got to share The Tracking Board’s photo mash-up, too, just to show you the comparison between Cooper and Preacher’s protagonist Reverend Jesse Custer…
He certainly looks the part, has dabbled in darker work before (see: The Devil's Double) and could possibly be tempted to take further TV work after the rave reviews he garnered as Howard Stark in Agent Carter. Star of The Devil's Double said to be interested in the film about the late Queen singer
• News: Queen did not want Mercury biopic 'to be a joke'
• News: Sacha Baron Cohen quits Freddie Mercury biopic
Dominic Cooper is the latest name to be connected to the long-gestating biopic of Queen singer Freddie Mercury, after original lead Sacha Baron Cohen dropped out.
Influential blogger El Mayimbe, of the Latino Review, said a "trusted source" claimed Cooper was "circling the project". As well as a distinct physical resemblance to Mercury, Cooper also apparently has a decent singing voice. Cooper is currently filming Dracula Untold, in the role of vampire hunter Abraham van Helsing.
Baron Cohen left the project earlier this year after his "racy" take on Mercury's life was rejected by the remaining members of Queen. The band's drummer Roger Taylor said: "We felt Sacha probably wasn't right in the end.

Dominic Cooper has been linked with the lead role in the proposed Freddie Mercury biopic.
The Devil's Double actor is a frontrunner to replace Sacha Baron Cohen as the Queen frontman in the movie, Latino Review claims.
Baron Cohen is said to have exited the project over creative difference with the filmmakers and surviving members of Queen, who wanted a more subdued take on Mercury's life than the no-holds-barred portrayal the Borat actor reportedly had in mind.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was briefly linked with the project following Baron Cohen's departure, but has now denied such speculation.
Peter Morgan (Rush, Frost/Nixon) is working on a screenplay for the Mercury biopic with input from the surviving members of Queen, while Graham King and Robert De Niro are producing.
The King's Speech and Les Misérables filmmaker Tom Hooper has been linked with the director's chair.

According to British sci-fi mag Starburst, a Sunday newspaper is intending to scoop the BBC by announcing the name of the new Doctor this weekend -- so in order to pre-empt that, the channel will announce the name tomorrow evening. They also report that early contender Ben Daniels is definitely not in the picture, and that the part might well go to one of the following actors: Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter, Dredd), Daniel Kaluuya (Skins, The Fades), or Dominic Cooper (Captain America: Tfa, The Devil's Double). Now Starburst themselves say they can't be 100% sure about this, but that's what their sources have told them -- we'll have that pinch of salt handy until we see how it shakes out over the weekend. The action film Need for Speed has had its release date moved.

Need for Speed will now debut in cinemas on March 14, 2014 rather than its original release date of February 7, 2014, Deadline reports.
The change means it will avoid the competition of Warner Bros' The Lego Movie and Sony/Columbia's RoboCop.

On the outside, he is framed by a wealthy business associate with a massive bounty lingering on his head.
