Darren Aronofsky and Chris Hemsworth may be working on a scripted feature together.
The two teamed up recently for the Disney+ series “Limitless With Chris Hemsworth,” which Aronofsky created. Samuel L. Jackson has only one Oscar nomination to his name (a supporting actor bid for Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction”), which is downright shocking considering the handful of iconic roles in his filmography. The Los Angeles Times recently expressed shock over the fact that Jackson’s other Tarantino roles did not garner him Oscar nominations, to which the actor somewhat agreed.
“Everything I’ve done for Quentin has a moment that’s given me an opportunity, from ‘Jackie Brown’ to ‘The Hateful Eight’ to ‘Django [Unchained],’” Jackson said. “‘Django’ was probably my best shot [at an Oscar] because it’s the most evil character I’ve ever played and they generally reward Black people for playing horrendous shit.”
Jackson starred in “Django Unchained” as Stephen Warren, the head house slave for the villainous Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). With Jackson’s career tied in part to Tarantino, it’s not a stretch to assume...

Ashley Benson, Shiloh Fernandez, Logan Miller, Frank Whaley and Jay Pharoah are starring in “Private Property,” a remake of the 1960 noir film of the same title.
The movie recently wrapped production in Los Angeles and was written, produced, and directed by Chadd Harbold. The original film, written and directed by “Outer Limits” creator Leslie Stevens, was out of circulation for 30 years and considered lost, until it was restored and re-released by Cinelicious Pics in 2016 to critical acclaim.
In the remake, Benson stars as Kathryn, a struggling actress and unfulfilled housewife who becomes involved with her new gardener Ben, played by Fernandez. As he gives her the attention and sensitivity she craves, they start to fall for each other. But, in true noir fashion, Ben is not all that he seems.
Benson is best known for her work in “Spring Breakers,” “Her Smell” and the teen mystery-drama series “Pretty Little Liars.

The idea of the show, “We’re Here,” came to creators Steve Warren and Johnnie Ingram while they were on vacation and happened to catch some episodes of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars.” “What would happen if we actually took the politics of our lives and we put ‘Drag Race’ together with that? What would happen if we took drag queens and put them in small towns,” says Warren in our recent webchat (watch the exclusive video above). He adds that they both knew exactly what they wanted the show to be, including which drag queens they wanted to feature. “We absolutely knew we wanted the three queens that we got and never talked to anybody else.”

We all feel a level of having fallen down a rabbit hole these days, but this is about the last thing I would expect to hear from one of the most prominent attorneys in Hollywood — a lawyer whose clients include Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Stephen Gaghan, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, Akiva Goldsman, Elle & Dakota Fanning and dozens of other top actors and filmmakers.
I rang Warren because I had never heard of a lawyer on his level – he is a longtime partner in the firm Hansen Jacobson Teller Hoberman Newman Warren Richman Rush Kaller & Gellman – moonlighting as the co-creator and exec producer of We’re Here, the new HBO reality series whose second episode airs tonight. Naomi Watts and It star Sophia Lillis will star in director Claire McCarthy’s next feature Burning Season. Watts, who recently starred in McCarthy’s Ophelia, will also executive produce. HanWay Films, who is working with Watts on The Wolf Hour, will introduce the project to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival.
Adapted for the screen by emerging writer-producer Jenny Halper and based on Laura Van Den Berg’s short story What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us, the film pits a mother-daughter relationship drama against the landscape of Madagascar, an island prone to forest fires where nearly all the species are indigenous – and many are endangered.
The film was developed by writer-producer Jenny Halper (The Kindergarten Teacher) and Emmy award-nominated producer Kate Sharp (The Hallow) through Sharp’s newly launched company Daughter Films. The script was featured on the 2016 Black List and the 2015 Athena List.
