Richard Linklater just had his hometown premiere for “Hit Man” in Austin May 15, at which his star and co-writer Glen Powell was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. But he’s already wrapped his next movie, “Nouvelle Vague.”
Shot in Paris, “Nouvelle Vague” tells the story of Jean-Luc Godard making his jump from Cahiers du Cinema film critic (Cahiers is also fittingly where the first look images from “Nouvelle Vague” made their debut) to filmmaker with the making of his first movie, “Breathless.” Guillaume Marbeck is Godard, and Zoe Deutsch plays his star Jean Seberg.
On the red carpet of the “Hit Man” premiere, Linklater talked to IndieWire about what he hopes viewers take away from “Nouvelle Vague” and, especially, what we can learn from the French New Wave filmmakers at this moment when there’s such doom and gloom about the future of cinema.

It was in May 2023 when we got to know about Johnny Depp creating history by signing the most expensive men’s fragrance deal ever with Dior after his legal battle with Amber Heard. Pirates Of The Caribbean actor cracked a $20 Million-Plus deal with the multinational luxury fashion house. But, it looks like all’s not going well with its advertising in France.

Greta Gerwig wanted to live out her own personal pink-filled “Barbie” fantasy.
The writer-director behind the highly anticipated live-action film based on the Mattel dolls detailed her vision behind the elaborate Barbie Dreamhouse that the titular doll (Margot Robbie) lives in. In fact, the over-the-top dedication to bringing the whimsical dolls to life led to an international pink paint shortage.
“Maintaining the ‘kid-ness’ was paramount,” Gerwig told Architectural Digest. “I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much.”
She added that the details were meant to capture what “made me love Barbie when I was a little girl.”
Production designer Sarah Greenwood revealed that the production led to a shortage of the fluorescent shade of Rosco paint. “The world, ran out of pink,” Greenwood said. Greenwood previously told IndieWire that “pink became the film’s thesis” when designing the look of the ensemble film.

Drew Barrymore criticised the Razzies for nominating 12-year-old Firestarter actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong in the Worst Actress category.
The parody awards group, which famously recognises films and performances they feel are the worst of the year, issued a public apology to Armstrong and confirmed her removal from the “final ballot” after her nomination drew intense backlash.
Barrymore was a child actor herself and even starred in the 1984 iteration of Firestarter when she was nine years old.
“I don’t like it,” Barrymore said of the nomination on CBS’s Talk of the Table on Thursday (26 January).
“Because she is younger and it is bullying,” she told host Gayle King. “I’m glad to see people didn’t jump on the ‘let’s make fun of her’ wave and instead said, ‘This isn’t right.’”
Barrymore spoke further about the controversy on her eponymous talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show.

The tousle-haired star could be regarded as the quintessential Parisian actor – and now he’s taking on the city icon that looms largest
If Michael Caine is the quintessential London actor, Romain Duris could become his Paris equivalent. Born and raised in the city, he rose to international fame in 2005 playing the real-estate hustler with ambitions to be a pianist in Jacques Audiard’s The Beat That My Heart Skipped. Quick to the punch but nifty in his fingerwork, dropping rats in a sack on unwanted tenants while wearing Cuban heels, he was Parisian squalor and glamour in one snake-hipped paradox. Then he cashed in his tousle-haired bourgeois-bohème cachet in Christopher Honoré’s Dans Paris and Cédric Klapisch’s Paris. And now the pinnacle: he is starring in a new biopic about engineer Gustave Eiffel.
Duris couldn’t resist the man’s ubiquity. “I don’t know if it’s because I’m Parisian,...

Vladimir and Rosa.“Cinema contains everything. It joins writing, painting, music. It is the most complete art.”—Juliet Berto, Ciné-Bulles, 19861Juliet Berto burst onto the Parisian film scene in the rich late 60s period of experimentation and radicalization, just as the New Wave diverged into competing streams of political and humanist directors. Her biography (what scant details are publicly available) is mythical, and tragically short: Annie Jamet, born and living in southern France, attends a Grenoble film screening where Jean-Luc Godard is present; the director, captivated by 19-year-old Annie, offers her a role in his film 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her. Annie moved to Paris, and by the end 1967, Juliet Berto (as she is credited onscreen) had appeared in three Godard films, a relationship that would deepen over the course of the radical 60s. Berto then worked with Jacques Rivette during the 70s as a key collaborator and...

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to renew Greg Daniels and Steve Carell’s comedy series Space Force for a third season.
The decision on the series, which starred John Malkovich and Ben Schwartz alongside Carell, comes two and a half months after Season 2 was released February 18. It did not break into the overall Nielsen streaming weekly Top 10 ranking but made a brief appearance on the streaming originals Nielsen charts, debuting at No. 8 and rising to No. 7 the following week. It also had a short presence in Netflix’s Daily Top 10 raking, peaking at around No. 5 after Season 1 had had a lengthy stay at No. 1.

The Golden Globes has recently announced their latest nominations; however, it comes after a wave of controversy following the 2021 ceremony. The controversy started when it was brought to the attention by hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) hasn’t had a single black member on counsel for the last 20 years. The situation only got worse from there, with one of the most notable being the Emily in Paris nominations; Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Lily Collins for Best Actress in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy. Justin G. Dyck has directed over 15 feel-good, holiday films including Christmas in Paris, Christmas Catch and Christmas with a Prince. This year he is mixing it up with his “anti-Nativity” horror tale Anything for Jackson. The film follows a bereaved Satanist couple who kidnap a pregnant woman so they can use an ancient spellbook to put their dead grandson’s spirit into her unborn child, but end up summoning more than they bargained for. Since a good horror film isn’t complete without a chilling score, we spoke with Anything for Jackson composer John McCarthy. Below we asked McCarthy 9 questions

When a documentary’s opening title card is “Flint, Michigan,” your instinct might be to assume that this will be a certain stripe of downbeat, sociological, living, tragic history — a story already pre-written by the headlines you’ve read about the place. But Roni Moore and James Blagden’s Midnight in Paris (streaming via Metrograph Virtual Cinemas through October 29th) is not that movie. The people it’s about, Flint Northern High School’s class of 2012, reject that story from the very start. “Everybody always looks at the bad stuff that goes on here,...

Emily in Paris first premiered on Oct. 2, and while the Netflix is the perfect escape show for some, there are also a lot of storylines that have left people scratching their heads. However, the latest revelation about Emily Cooper's real age might be the most confusing of all. In a recent interview with Vogue, actress Lily Collins revealed that she thinks her character is actually "22-ish," and I'm sorry, huh? I definitely imagined the character being in her 20s, but if Emily is 22, wouldn't that mean she just got out of college? If that's the case, how does she have a master's degree in marketing? Here are even more questions I'm wondering now that we know her real age:
Is Emily actually a genius? Not only does she have a master's degree at such a young age, but she already has so much responsibility at her new job. She's...

Well-known Chicago pizzeria Lou Malnati’s is fuming over a joke made at its expense in Netflix’s “Emily in Paris.”
In the romantic comedy series from “Sex and the City” creator Darren Star, the title character Emily (Lily Collins), compares the restaurant’s — and the city’s — signature deep-dish pizza to “a quiche made of cement.”
“Oh no, you must have gone to Lou Malnati’s,” Collins adds.
Lou Malnati’s owner Marc Malnati fired back at the show in a statement Wednesday, pointing out the un-funniness of making jokes about restaurants struggling during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“We’ve been serving Chicago’s favorite Deep Dish since 1971. When Netflix’ Emily in Paris writers chose to take a shot at Chicagoans and our pizza to try to get a laugh, it felt heartless and not humorous in the midst of Covid-19,” he wrote on the restaurant’s Instagram post...

How do you say Sex and the City in French? Honestly, it's hard not to compare Emily in Paris to the iconic HBO series. It's from the same creator: Darren Star. It has a fashionable yet relatable lead: Lily Collins. And the clothes. Oh, the clothes. Not since Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) twirled on a dirty NYC sidewalk in that tulle skirt have we had such an instant reaction to a character's wardrobe. And that's all thanks to Patricia Field, the legendary costume designer behind both Carrie and Emily's looks. "The appeal for Emily in Paris for me was basically Darren Star," Field told E! News of signing on to do the Netflix rom-com, which dropped its first season on...

You don't want to be remembered as the girl who said no to Paris.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you can watch The Hills online to find out.
Emily in Paris Season 1 Episode 1 threw Emily into the deep end as she was given a split-second decision to move to a new country, and it made for some great TV.
Armed with a hot neighbor, wonderful fashion, and beautiful view, Emily was ready to take on the world.
Unfortunately for her, her skills were not wanted in this new establishment, but were they needed?
It was very reminiscent of Ugly Betty Season 1 Episode 1, in which Betty arrived to work at a fashion magazine with less than stellar fashion.
Here, Emily arrived in France to do a job, but couldn't speak the native tongue.

The end is nigh for TV Land's Younger.
Despite the cable network not officially announcing the upcoming seventh season as the last for the dramedy, series creator Darren Star says that he is planning it as the end.
“We are unofficially planning [Season 7] as a final season,” Star told TVLine exclusively while promoting the forthcoming Emily in Paris.
Younger Season 6 concluded in September 2019, and shooting for the seventh was set to commence earlier this year.
Like many TV series, it was brought to a halt because of Covid-19, but the creator told the outlet that the series is set to return to production in the coming weeks.
TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor have announced plans to integrate the pandemic into their next seasons.
That will be tougher for younger, with episodes written before the pandemic, and with the season set to pick up in the aftermath of previous plots.

This one looks whimsical and amusing. Here's the official Us trailer (+ posters) for Christophe Honoré's On a Magical Night, from YouTube: After 20 years of marriage, Maria (Chiara Mastroianni) decides to leave. She moves to...

Sorry Angel. Christophe Honoré: 'To be honest the characters of Arthur and Jacques I see as myself at different stages in my life. It might seem narcissistic to have a character at 40 who falls in love with himself (me) at 20 but it wasn’t intended to be' Photo: Courtesy of Cannes Film Festival

Only his second time in the competition (he was there in 2007 with Les chansons d’amour), Christophe Honoré has moonlighted with the Cannes film festival — and he also played in the Directors’ Fortnight with Dans Paris (2006). His tenth feature film Sorry Angel which is an awkward translation from a much better Plaire, aimer et courir vite sees Stranger by the Lake‘s Pierre Deladonchamps match up with the younger Vincent Lacoste and the senior Denis Podalydès in this slice of life drama in set in the 90’s Paris.
