well, this was something like a breaking-point in the zatoichi series.
the zatoichi character is now really popular and known in whole feudal japan. the whole flick was slightly too smooth, too glossy for my taste.
zatoichi even became a bit of a phoney. which is highly contrary to his humble character.
therefore the magic of the earlier entries of the series has a bit faded.
