Seen about one and a half hour of it, then I dozed off.

Oddly enough I'm not at all curious about how it ended. Re-watching Evil Under the Sun the next day strongly confirmed my opinion that such a movie doesn't need so much period-establishing scenes to create the right mood for a murder mystery set in the 1930s. Or perhaps it's just the lack of focus.. And I agree with one of the imdb user reviews that the language that was full of expressions uncommon for the 1930s.

Re-watch: Wednesday the 4th of March

Hesitated about raising my vote to 7/10. A movie that could have been so much more. It's not cynical enough, it looses tension. Some of the sets - the lab f.i. - are just designed a bit too old-fashioned cardboardy.

Re-watch: Saturday the 7th of March

I can understand that this freely constructed, unconventional, somewhat rebellious, movie must have made quite an impression in its days. The effect didn't age very well. It now all feels rather tame, naive, sometimes even outright amateurish. Unlike movies such as À bout de souffle (1960) (more revolutionary when it comes to film techinique) or Peeping Tom (1960) (a movie I dislike very much, but at least was more convincing in its commentary towards film and photograhy) Furthermore, I think Hemmings is completely unbelievable as big-shot photographer.
