101. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)

PG-13 | 105 min | Action, Drama, Thriller

57 Metascore

Jack Ryan, as a young covert C.I.A. analyst, uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack.

Director: Kenneth Branagh | Stars: Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley, Kenneth Branagh

Votes: 138,261 | Gross: $50.58M

10* After witnessing the tragedy from 9/11, Jack Ryan decides to join the military in order to protect his country from future attacks. After an accident which almost leaves him handicapped, he joins the CIA as an "office worker", where he uncovers a conspiracy which can have terrible consequences for his country. He's determined to get to the bottom of it but the road will prove to be much difficult than expected. Furthermore, when his girlfriend gets involuntarily involved, the importance of the mission reaches a whole new level. It's a very good thriller which manages to induce a plethora of action, tension and suspense with almost every scene, making it a very enjoyable movie. It has very good actors and a great plot, and although the execution seems a bit choppy at times (especially in the stunt department), it is overall a very good movie, despite it's low rating.

102. Dracula Untold (2014)

PG-13 | 92 min | Action, Drama, Fantasy

40 Metascore

As his kingdom is being threatened by the Turks, young prince Vlad Tepes must become a monster feared by his own people in order to obtain the power needed to protect his own family, and the families of his kingdom.

Director: Gary Shore | Stars: Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon, Art Parkinson

Votes: 207,728 | Gross: $56.28M

10* In order to defend his beloved family and people from the Turks, Vlad the Impaler has no other choice than to turn to the dark side for help. He's granted the power of 100 people and some special abilities which allow him to defeat a whole army by himself but it has a catch. If he feeds with blood, as a normal vampire, he'll remain one for eternity. He will have to banish all the invaders before his powers fade away, leaving his country defenseless. It's an interesting retelling of a very popular piece of history in which Vlad receives some amazing powers which he uses to simply humiliate his adversaries. It involves some tense and emotional moments followed by intense action and fights which create an unique, dark atmosphere. Simply put, it's what I call a very good action movie.

103. Django Unchained (2012)

R | 165 min | Comedy, Drama, Western

81 Metascore

With the help of a German bounty-hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal plantation owner in Mississippi.

Director: Quentin Tarantino | Stars: Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington

Votes: 1,696,309 | Gross: $162.81M

10* A german bounty hunter by the name of Dr. King Schultz, frees a black slave (Django) who will help him identify his latest victims. Noticing that he's got talent, Schultz offers Django a partnership which is accepted without a blink of an eye. After several Wanted posters, Django sets out to find and rescue his slave wife from the hands of a very brutal plantation owner (Calvin Candie). With Schultz's intelligence and experience they elaborate and attend to an ingenious rescue plan but and old black friend of Candie is determined jeopardize their scheme. It's a very dramatic and emotional story presenting sensitive parts of a slave's life and how someone like him, with a bit of help, can become a feared sharpshooter like Django. It's also engulfed with great shooting action and marvelous landscapes which combined with some impressive effects (although some were quite a bit exaggerated) will delight every fan's eyeballs. The actors played some fabulous roles and their hard work can be seen in each end every scene. It's a wonderful piece of cinematic work although I did had the impression that it could have been a little shorter but that isn't a drawback at all. Make sure not to miss it but prepare yourself for a long adventure!

104. John Carter (2012)

PG-13 | 132 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

51 Metascore

Transported to Barsoom, a Civil War vet discovers a barren planet seemingly inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Woola and a princess in desperate need of a savior.

Director: Andrew Stanton | Stars: Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton

Votes: 286,300 | Gross: $73.08M

10* John Carter, a Civil War veteran finds himself transported to Mars, a desolate and dying planet. With his unusual powers, he must help a local princess stop an imminent war before the whole planet gets destroyed. We follow him from the moment he arrives on Mars, a selfish person, only looking to satisfy his lust for treasure, evolving gradually to a person who's willing to risk his life for the well being of others. It's a movie which excels in visual effects and story complexity. It becomes so tangled sometimes that makes you scratch your head and rethink everything you thought you understood so far. Although it presents itself as a serious and sober movie, its producers managed to insert a couple of funny moments which introduce a bit of relaxation after heavy action and suspense. It looks great, it features a great story and has some enjoyable characters. It somehow reminds me of Prince of Persia. It may have a few flaws in its conception, some scenes, some parts of the story, but in my opinion it is a great movie nevertheless.

105. Serenity (2005)

PG-13 | 119 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

74 Metascore

The crew of the ship Serenity try to evade an assassin sent to recapture telepath River.

Director: Joss Whedon | Stars: Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alan Tudyk

Votes: 305,728 | Gross: $25.51M

10* Mal, the captain of Serenity carries on his ship a very special girl. River, a young psychic who has been trained by the Alliance as a human weapon, was rescued by her brother and thus she represents the number one target for a merciless assassin, sent specifically to get rid of "the evidence". Although she is perceived as a threat by the crew, she will prove to be a priceless key in unveiling a disturbing secret, kept safe at all costs by the Alliance. It's a dramatic story filled with action and shooting while its complex characters contribute decisively to a wonderful atmosphere. You become connected to the events, start to care about the captain, River with her troubled life and the others. The action is pretty spectacular, at one point I started wondering if I was actually seeing The Matrix in space. It definitely looks great for its time although the effects are not groundbreaking. It made me enjoy it from one end to the other, it surprised me with its story and course of events and it thrilled me with its characters. A must see!

106. X: First Class (2011)

PG-13 | 131 min | Action, Sci-Fi

65 Metascore

In the 1960s, superpowered humans Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr work together to find others like them, but Erik's vengeful pursuit of an ambitious mutant who ruined his life causes a schism to divide them.

Director: Matthew Vaughn | Stars: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Bacon

Votes: 724,005 | Gross: $146.41M

10* In a world where mutants lived camouflaged among humans, Charles Xavier, a mutant who can read minds, starts recruiting in preparation for an imminent battle with a malicious group who is determined to start World War 3. This movie presents the beginnings of the X-Men, how each of them began to use their powers, their struggle to accommodate with humans and the battle that separates them into two distant factions. It manages to tell its story in an entertaining and thrilling way alongside all the awesomeness generated by the mutants and their powers. It's unexpectedly captivating and the fact that it leaves almost no question unanswered regarding the origins of the mutants makes it even more interesting. I have to admit that one or two aspects of the "young ones" are a bit exaggerated and awkward but that doesn't affect the overall quality of the film. It was a pleasant surprise from this franchise and I can only hope they will maintain this level in the upcoming titles.

107. Warcraft (2016)

PG-13 | 123 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy

32 Metascore

As an Orc horde invades the planet Azeroth using a magic portal, a few human heroes and dissenting Orcs must attempt to stop the true evil behind this war.

Director: Duncan Jones | Stars: Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper

Votes: 278,962 | Gross: $47.37M

10* In the fantastic world of Warcraft, the Orcs seek a new land to conquer as their previous home was destroyed. With the help of a powerful Mage, who learned how to control the dark arts of Fel, they open a portal to the peaceful human world and start attacking every living being. Meanwhile, the Alliance tries to reunite in order to prevent the imminent extermination which lies ahead. With the help of a curious character, known as the Guardian, the human race struggles to find the best solution to the attacks by focusing on the source, but it will prove to be a bigger challenge than they are ready for, especially when there are "surprises" to be uncovered by the main characters. First of all, the action is placed directly into the Warcraft universe, which simply thrills me as a fan of the franchise. Seeing places like Stormwind or Ironforge, generated and animated in such detail simply gives me the chills. Beautifully designed and presented, this familiar world is truly warming, thus a film based on it can only bring excitement, but this is not enough to make it great. This is where the plot rolls on with its well shaped characters, its breath-taking action and, of course, its story. I cannot find something bad about this film. I know I am a bit subjective because I simply adore Warcraft, but no matter how hard I try to find a weakness to it, I fail. It's packed with action, it fills you with drama, it grabs a smile from your face but it can also bring a lot of tears. It's very easy to recommend this one to anybody. You can enjoy it and see it as a very good movie which it is without ever hearing a single word about its name or its incredible universe.

108. Wreck-It Ralph (2012)

PG | 101 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

72 Metascore

A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives.

Director: Rich Moore | Stars: John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman

Votes: 458,698 | Gross: $189.42M

10* In a world where all the characters in an arcade were actually living creatures, being able to communicate with one another (even from different games), Ralph, a bad guy who's job was to destroy a building over and over again decides that he's life can be different. Neglected and avoided by others and living in a dump, Ralph thinks that if he was a good guy, his situation could improve dramatically. Determined to prove his new intentions, he deserts to another game from where he gets a much wanted "Hero Medal", but getting it home isn't going to be an easy task. Through different complications, he ends up in another game where a cute but also rude little girl is in desperate need of his assistance. It's a great animation, inspired from the wonderful world of video games, with a really interesting plot and some great adventures. It's funny, emotional, dramatic and full of action. Great to "play", over and over again, like an arcade game!

109. Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014)

PG | 92 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

59 Metascore

Sherman, a young boy, misuses a time machine made by his scientist father Mr. Peabody and causes the world history to go haywire. It is now up to Mr. Peabody to rescue his son and the world.

Director: Rob Minkoff | Stars: Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann

Votes: 77,865 | Gross: $111.51M

10* Mr. Peabody, a highly intelligent dog and very different from all his kind, becomes the first to adopt a human being. Together with his son, they use the secret time machine to travel into the past and explore all the corners of history. Everything goes normal until Sherman goes to school and has a fight with one of his colleagues. This event triggers an unexpected visit from child care which are determined to take Sherman away, but Peabody is determined to change their mind. He organizes a special dinner with the child's parents and the representative from child care but his plans are soon to be altered by Sherman's ego who will ultimately put the stability of the time continuum into peril. Although it begins atypical, this movie presents an interesting story featuring a dog who can do practically anything and his attempts to maintain the course of time flowing in the right direction after his son an the latter's colleague travel back unattended and without permission. It is very impressive with the dog's abilities and the animated special effects which provide a special aura to the atmosphere. Its story is interesting and although not groundbreaking, it manages to keep your attention throughout the whole picture. Despite the fact that Sherman is quite a troublemaker, mainly due to his friend, he plays an important role in the movie's intrigue and slowly starts to mature in order to impress his father. This movie came as a pleasant surprise for me as I wasn't expecting such a quality animation from this title but it proved me wrong and I enjoyed every single part of it.

110. The Secret World of Arrietty (2010)

G | 94 min | Animation, Adventure, Drama

80 Metascore

The Clock family are four-inch-tall people who live anonymously in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. Life changes for the Clocks when their teenage daughter Arrietty is discovered.

Director: Hiromasa Yonebayashi | Stars: Bridgit Mendler, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, Mirai Shida

Votes: 104,465 | Gross: $19.20M

10* Arrietty is the only child of a family of borrowers living well hidden from the normal human beings. As they were carrying on their peaceful lives, building their home and working for supplies, Arrietty gets accidentally seen by Shawn, an ordinary boy who's life was permanently troubled by his sickened heart. Inevitable, the two start to make contact but this simple and apparently innocent act is going to cause a lot of trouble in both of their lives. It's an original idea superbly drawn and animated into this gorgeous movie. I absolutely love how it looks and how the whole "tiny" adventure is presented from both perspectives. It's thrilling, dramatic and full of suspense featuring some emotional songs which really managed to create a very enjoyable atmosphere. Everything about this movie is great, without any doubt. A real work of art I might say!

111. Princess Mononoke (1997)

PG-13 | 134 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

76 Metascore

On a journey to find the cure for a Tatarigami's curse, Ashitaka finds himself in the middle of a war between the forest gods and Tatara, a mining colony. In this quest he also meets San, the Mononoke Hime.

Director: Hayao Miyazaki | Stars: Yôji Matsuda, Yuriko Ishida, Yûko Tanaka, Billy Crudup

Votes: 433,996 | Gross: $2.38M

10* Prince Ashitaka, while fighting to save his village, gets bitten by a demon and a horrible curse unleashes through his body. Determined to find a cure, he sets off on a journey where he'll encounter an active war between a mining colony and the forest's gods. He must decide which side he'll join in order to prevent total destruction. It's a very emotional story about courage, morality, faith and honesty which shows what Ashitaka must endure for something he did not commit. We're presented the whole connections between the forest's gods, its tribes and its leaders in their attempt to stop the greedy humans from destroying everything in their blind quest for fortune. It was thrilling all the way, emotional and passionate and as every anime, superbly animated. A great movie by far!

112. My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

G | 86 min | Animation, Comedy, Family

86 Metascore

When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby.

Director: Hayao Miyazaki | Stars: Hitoshi Takagi, Noriko Hidaka, Chika Sakamoto, Shigesato Itoi

While unpacking, the two girls feel that something strange is happening around, to find out later that in the nearby forest lived a supernatural creature by the name of Totoro. This lovely furry cat-like creature will play an important role in their lives, proving to be as helpful as it is cute throughout the movie. It's a very enjoyable movie and although it starts a bit slowly, showing step by step the beginning of the characters' new life, it slowly progresses in thrill and excitement as Totoro shows up. It can't say much about this move, it is just a great piece of classic animation, with its unique drawing style!

113. A Christmas Carol (2009)

PG | 96 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

55 Metascore

An animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.

Director: Robert Zemeckis | Stars: Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Steve Valentine

Votes: 129,569 | Gross: $137.86M

10* A very greedy, self-centered and rude old man is about to be visited in the Christmas eve by three Christmas spirits which will try to change his miserable life, offering a last change for salvation. A classic and very popular story of Charles Dickens transformed into a Disney animation, with Jim Carrey interpreting the main character is definitely a recipe for success, as this movie will prove. Very well animated, dark but also joyful when it was required, this movie tells how not to be in life by flashing the life of an old man through his eyes, in an attempt to make him understand his mistakes and correct his inappropriate attitude. It uses Christmas as the perfect opportunity to tell its story and it does it flawlessly, according to the original story. It's emotional, full of Christmas spirit and has a lot to learn from its plot. A clear recommendation from me, especially during the winter holidays.

114. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

10* In a world where cartoon characters and humans lived together, Eddie Valiant, a detective who has a troubled past in his relation with toons must help a troubled bunny by the name of Roger who's accused of a murder he did not commit. It's a superb blend of reality and cartoon animation which almost seems real featuring some very popular characters caught in a deep mystery. As you wold expect from this kind of movie, it's hilarious all the time and although it seemed a bit simplistic in the beginning, it became gradually more complex letting you wander in it's riddles. A great film!

115. Hugo (2011)

83 Metascore

Meanwhile, he befriends the adopted daughter of a local toy repair store owner which has a couple of mysteries of his own. His adventure will prove to be more tangled than he expected as more and more clues and connections are revealed. It's a emotional and dramatic story which follows an ingenious little boy and his everyday struggles. It has soul, it looks great and it has some very good actors. You get eager to find out what will happen to Hugo right from the beginning which creates some sort of a bond, a great feeling. A very good movie, no doubt about it.

116. A Beautiful Mind (2001)

PG-13 | 135 min | Biography, Drama, Mystery

Votes: 987,414 | Gross: $170.74M

10* A brilliant mathematician but anti-social person by the name of John Nash begins having some new acquaintances with whom he seems to achieve the most important work of his life. He marries his beautiful and caring wife and starts secretly working for a mysterious person in an attempt to break a powerful encryption. All seems to go flawlessly but suddenly, a highly unexpected disease is discovered in his body, one that seems to have affected almost everything he has ever done. From there on, a very painful struggle begins, one on which his entire life depends on. It’s a very sad movie which seems to tell in its beginning the story of an extraordinary man but suddenly decides to present a very unexpected turn which leaves you completely dazzled. As much as it is mind blowing, as much it increases the dramatism of the entire movie, keeping you eager to find out the finale of this brilliant plot. The actors do a very good job reenacting their characters, managing to create a highly dramatic atmosphere which transmits emotion with every single scene it describes. I cannot explain how much this movie marked me with its incredible story and characters which ultimately ends with great style. It truly is a masterpiece, making it a must see for every single movie lover.

117. Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)

10* Oz, a fake magician working for a traveling circus, selfish, self-centered with a specific charm for ladies gets once again into trouble after a failed show and escapes from the scene in a hot-air balloon. After being sucked into a giant tornado, he lands into a mystical land ruled by witches where he's about to fulfill a very old prophecy. Trying to disguise his true identity and become Emerald City's great and powerful wizard, Oz embarks on a difficult quest to eliminate the Wicked Witch which has been terrorizing the place for far too long. Throughout his adventure, he will encounter many difficulties, betrayals and personality challenges which will inevitable change his perspective over himself and others. This is the story of "The Wizard of Oz" told with the wizard as the main character. We watch him evolve from a small circus magician into a completely different person, capable of great acts in order to help his beloved. It's a great movie, with absolutely gorgeous landscapes and animations, with a good plot and a couple of great actors. It manages to be dramatic, comical and sober in key situations making it a feast to watch. A great film!

118. The American President (1995)

Director: Rob Reiner | Stars: Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox

Votes: 60,650 | Gross: $65.00M

10* A newly employed negociator, working for the ecology party, is sent to transmit a powerful message to the president of the United States of America about a new law that they strongly support. Her unique character attracts the lonely president who enters an apparently easy election year and slowly, they develop an unexpected relationship. As one might guess, this relationship quickly reaches the press and is bound to affect the election polls. To make matters worse, his quiet approach regarding the upcoming elections leave his adversary a clear path to victory. He must take the correct decisions and manage his career and private life at the same time in order to keep his position and, of course, his new lover. From my point of view, this is one of those movie for which you fall at first sight. It has almost everything you could wish for, tons of laughter, drama and romance, all packed up in a good and very enjoyable plot. It also has a couple of great actors who help a lot in creating a lovely atmosphere. It's an excellent movie which I recommend to anybody!

119. The Miscellaneous Brigade Strikes Again (1970)

Follows the Communist Romanian Militia 'miscellaneous brigade' and the 'diverse' crimes that it solves.

Director: Mircea Dragan | Stars: Toma Caragiu, Sebastian Papaiani, Puiu Calinescu, Dem Radulescu

Votes: 1,916

10* Three friends, earning their living through apparently small but illicit jobs, find themselves involved in organized crime which will inevitably throw themselves behind bars. Their funny and innocent attitude play a big part in this series, as they are able to make you laugh with almost every action they undertake. A couple of Romania's best actors, divided into two sides (the good and the bad one), manage to create a crime comedy masterpiece which brings a good time with every watch. Simply brilliant!

120. The Miscellaneous Brigade on the Watch (1971)

95 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

In 1971 three inept petty Romanian criminals are released from prison but find themselves at the core of two money laundering and burglary cases.

Director: Mircea Dragan | Stars: Toma Caragiu, Dem Radulescu, Sebastian Papaiani, Puiu Calinescu

Votes: 1,977

10* After their release from prison following the events from the first part, the three try to search for some legit jobs this time, but as the local authorities aren't able to "do their talent justice", they meet a weird guy who promises them everything they wanted, in exchange for a couple of apparently innocent tasks. As you would expect, they once again get involved in organized crime, leaving them clueless to what the future might have in store. As I can say for the first part, a very good plot and some brilliant actors form a recipe for success. Great!

121. Miscellaneous Brigade in the Mountains and at the Sea (1971)

100 min | Comedy, Action, Crime

Three paroled inept Romanian convicts dream up get-rich-quick schemes on the Black Sea Riviera where a petty-crime police squad led by Captain Panait is vacationing.

Director: Mircea Dragan | Stars: Toma Caragiu, Dem Radulescu, Ion Fintesteanu, Puiu Calinescu

Votes: 2,033

10* In this third and final act, the three friends decide to form a family and try to make a name for themselves at the beach. There, they start doing favors for a very wealthy and influential person who promises them paid contracts abroad, just to find out that they got into the illegal business once again. As for the others, it's funny, thrilling and tense, and although it isn't as brilliant as its predecessors, it's still a very good movie.

122. Bruce Almighty (2003)

PG-13 | 101 min | Comedy, Fantasy

46 Metascore

A whiny news reporter is given the chance to step into God's shoes.

Director: Tom Shadyac | Stars: Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, Morgan Freeman, Philip Baker Hall

Votes: 433,926 | Gross: $242.83M

10* After failing to obtain the anchorman position he's been dreaming of for a very long time, Bruce gets into a fight with his girlfriend and starts blaming God for his miserable life. As a result, God gives him much more than a sign that he requested. Bruce is granted the powers of His, thus he starts playing around town. What he's about to find out is that it's much harder than he expected and that free will cannot be influenced in any way. It's a very interesting movie which presents a common person who receives superhuman abilities but soon realises that life becomes out of a sudden a lot harder as every action of his has terrible consequences. It's presented in a very comical manner thanks to the skills of Jim Carrey, being able to make you laugh with almost every action he undertakes. Apart from the entertainment, it manages to be sad and emotional when required, thus creating a very pleasant atmosphere which you follow eagerly towards the finale. A very good comedy overall, thanks to some very good actors and a very well written and implemented plot.

123. La La Land (2016)

PG-13 | 128 min | Comedy, Drama, Music

94 Metascore

While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist and an actress fall in love while attempting to reconcile their aspirations for the future.

Director: Damien Chazelle | Stars: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Rosemarie DeWitt, J.K. Simmons

Votes: 672,025 | Gross: $151.10M

9* A jazz loving pianist falls for a wannabe actress and together, supporting each other, hope to one day achieve their lifetime dreams. Their attempt will prove to be much harder than expected, putting their relationship in peril multiple times. It's a joyful but dramatic musical which presents two ordinary people with big dreams and their struggle to achieve them. It makes the viewer pass through multiple feelings, from excitement and fun all the way to sadness and drama, keeping him into its majestic atmosphere until the end. This is a very good example of how a movie should be done, how to shoot scenes, how to build characters and how to put them into place. The music and dancing also play a very important role in the act, making it easier for the characters to express their feelings while also changing the mood of the scene. It's a very good movie without any doubt, but what disappointed me was the way the producers decided to end it. You may accuse me of being old-school and a fan of the fairy-tales for preferring a predictable happy-ending but I truly think that it would have been the best approach when it comes to this one. You may like the way it ends. You might even consider it to be a happy ending. who knows? But for me, this is the part which brought disappointment from an excellent movie and made me not give it full credit for its performance.

124. Bad Boys (1995)

R | 119 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

41 Metascore

Two hip detectives protect a witness to a murder while investigating a case of stolen heroin from the evidence storage room from their police precinct.

Director: Michael Bay | Stars: Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Lisa Boyle, Michael Taliferro

Votes: 286,566 | Gross: $65.81M

9* A team of two narcotics investigators must take in custody a key witness after an immense quantity of drugs has been stolen right from the police. Together, they must solve the case in order to keep their jobs but their difficult and different characters will play an important role in the investigation, especially with a witness which has no sense of security or respect for other people's property. It's an action packed movie which brings excitement with almost every scene it depicts but its biggest upside is by far the quality of entertainment and laughter it provides. This is how a comedy should be made. This is how you keep the viewers pointed to the screen, by providing them a good plot and a couple of complex characters which manage to make you laugh out loud with almost everything they do. It doesn't have the best story or the best implementation, but it has two brilliant actors which will definitely raise your mood.

Director: Michael Bay | Stars: Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Gabrielle Union, Jordi Mollà

Votes: 267,367 | Gross: $138.61M

9* The second instalment of the Bad Boys which are once again on the move in an attempt to arrest the leader of a notorious drug cartel from Cuba. With one of the boys' sister undercover in the operation, they must act quick until she gets into more trouble than she already is. This movie follows the same footsteps as the first one, only with even more flamboyance, explosions and action. It also makes you laugh out loud multiple times but not at its predecessor's level, while compensating through intense action. The same two great actors do a very good job in creating this picture and the whole entertainment part which is simply one of a kind. A very good comedy from every aspect and a very good movie overall.

9* After rescuing two strange characters from the bitter cold, a bounty hunter and his slave seek shelter from the upcoming blizzard in a remote cabin, where he meets a bunch of other weird people, each with a secret of his own. In order to collect the bounty for his slave, he'll have to take some extra security measures which might help him overcome the dangers to come, while the other characters will be full of surprises for him to uncover. It's a very atmospheric movie, set in a wild and freezing mountain environment, full of unexpected events and complex characters which keeps you eager to discover the next move, never letting you get bored, although it is not as action filled as I was expecting. It manages to maintain a sober atmosphere despite its amusing dark comedy moments, slowly uncovering its mysteries for your pleasure and amazement. I really enjoyed it despite its duration (~3 hours), and although it could have contained a bit more action and not focus so much on lengthy dialogues which tend to feel like fillers, it proved to be a very good watch. Its actors really contribute to this achievement through their wonderful and convincing performance, making this one yet another great from Quentin Tarantino.

Votes: 887,249 | Gross: $59.10M

9* An old man tells the story of his youth at the famous hotel to a young writer, together with its adventures and perils which ultimately led to his position in the present day. Then, he worked as a lobby boy for a very odd but perfectionist concierge, which involuntary gets involved in a dodgy testament, filled with crimes and murders. Their adventures are told in an unique way, funny, entertaining and unpredictable, having a hard time keeping even a single moment of sobriety. Although interesting most of the time with its dark atmosphere, it disappoints me with its simplistic and inconclusive finale. Its actors play superbly, especially the concierge, which puts a lot of soul and hard work into his character. It's a very good movie, worthy of an Oscar nominee, if not more, which brings some well rounded characters and together with a good story, managing to create a truly great movie, if you count out the ending.

9* An ordinary boy promises a girl from his village that he will retrieve a fallen star as a sign of his true love. This way, he crosses The Wall, venturing into the magical world which layed on the other side. He's in for a big surprise when he finds it, as it wasn't exactly what he expected. Besides this, he wasn't the only one after it. A couple of other people wanted it for its heart (which granted eternal youth to the one who ate it) or for its diamond (which granted a true male heir to the magical world's throne his crown). It's a movie which I was tempted to take seriously but I was very surprised when I found out that it was actually presented in a funny and entertaining way. It's unique way of telling a fantastic story made me laugh quite a lot but also kept me eager to discover its ending. It is a great movie in my oppininon, a must see but if you're after a movie which doesn't put such an accent on its comical side, this might not be for you.

Director: Bill Condon | Stars: Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad

9* When the father of an odd girl gets kidnapped in a distant forest, she sets out to find him, only to find an enchanted castle ruled by a hideous beast. Exchanging places with her father, she slowly discovers that there is more to the monster than it appears so an unexpected relationship begins to build up. This movie retells the classic story using live action sequences and state of the art CGI. It mostly follows the footsteps of its predecessor, the animation film, and like it, it creates an enjoyable atmosphere though its wonderful and captivating story. The animated moments are top notch while the characters play their role very well but I cannot escape the feeling that it misses something. It is mostly the same as the animation masterpiece that inspired it, but somehow doesn't manage to stay on par with it, or to create and inspire that feeling that no other movie can. It is a very well executed film, but it somehow does not have a soul, fact which alters the overall sensation. A very good movie overall but you'll still have to see the animation in order to understand what I mean.

Director: Alfonso Cuarón | Stars: Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hank Azaria, Chris Cooper

Votes: 56,932 | Gross: $26.33M

9* Little Finn had a poor, merciless childhood but two different events which occurred then changed his life forever: he helped an escaped convict and met Estella. All things began when he was a teenager when an anonymous person offered to show all his paintings at a gallery in New York and help him out throughout the way. He started making hopes but this wasn't him, it wasn't what he actually wanted because Estella, the girl of his dreams was going to break his heart again and again. It's a terrible drama of a kid and his deeply tormented life, presented from when he met that stranger util the moment when finally all his dreams become true. It's a very complex, very unexpected, very dramatized course of events. You become rapidly attracted by the story almost felling it on your own. It's a great interpretation of Charles Dickens' classic story, a great movie, but I have a feeling that something's not right, not as it should have been...

Director: Jonathan Levine | Stars: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich, Lio Tipton

Votes: 243,670 | Gross: $66.38M

9* In a post apocalyptic world, where most of the population was turned into zombies and some into walking skeletons, R is a pretty unusual member of the undead. He collects stuff, he spends "quality" time in an airplane, and, most importantly, he thinks. In his situation, he saves a girl who got surrounded while scouting for medicine and tries, in his own way, to communicate with her. Although scared as hell in the beginning, she starts to enjoy R's company, creating some sort of human zombie connection. From this moment, R slowly turns more and more alive, but as his evolution becomes more pronounced, he becomes a target of the "Bonies", so he must do something fast before he will be eaten (almost) alive. It's a pretty atmospheric horror movie, featuring a zombie who is determined to change and receives some unexpected help from a living being, which he saves. It sends emotion and tension, and although it starts very slowly, almost boringly slowly, it gains pace and becomes interesting. While it is mostly predictable, but not in a bad way, and some events are rather questionable, it manages to be a very good watch, with a happy ending which put a smile to my previously sad face.

Director: Angel Gracia | Stars: Camilla Belle, Alexa PenaVega, Kuno Becker, Tina French

Votes: 15,620 | Gross: $3.02M

9* Two lovely girls but with very different personalities are left on the streets after their former millionaire father dies on his birthday. They find refuge in their distant aunt's house where their lives become as ordinary as everyone else's. Thankfully, the two girls aren't going to let fate take its course so they take different paths which maybe one day will lead them to happiness. A lovely story which describes how someone can adapt from a life of wealth to poverty and his struggle along the way. I really enjoyed the course of events and although some may consider them cliche, I have to say that it was a very nice story. Although it was a bit predictable, it created a semi-dramatic atmosphere which ultimately led to romance and joyousness. I also liked the actors who fit really well in the picture, almost like it was created for them. A very enjoyable watch.

9* After being cursed by a former lover, Barnabas Collins is transformed into a vampire and locked in a coffin for almost 200 years. Having been released by a bunch of workers, he must accommodate himself with the new world and help his descendants regain their family fortune and power. Although it tries to be a serious movie with its plot and actors, it has a lot of sequences which would be best suited in a comedy. Don't get me wrong, I do like it but I prefer a movie to be constant throughout its whole plot. Its gruesome aspect, its special locations and its time period generate a great feeling alongside with its actors who do a great job enforcing this sensation, which is very attractive. A great movie for those who do enjoy a bit of horror (except for the dreadful stuff) with a good story and a couple of great actors!

Votes: 102,243 | Gross: $83.35M

9* Even from their youth, the four penguins were very nonconformist in comparison with their older relatives. Thus they get separated from the pack and end up in the zoo which will become their home due to their cute and cuddly nature. With their arrival, another exhibit gets thrown away so he begins planning his revenge on the penguin nature. The penguins must join forces with another team of elite animals, in their attempt to stop the villain from achieving his goal. It's an enjoyable and most of all funny movie which contains almost everything you can want from an animation. Great effects and characters, lots of action and some suspense, just to spice things up a bit. As an animation, or better said, a comedy animation, it is a very good movie, but a bit far from the masterpieces out there.

9* After the death of his wife, Count Dracula became an overprotective father, determined to do whatever he could to keep his daughter Mavis safe from the cruel human world. So he built a big castle which he named Hotel Transylvania, a place for every monster who wanted to stay away from humans. Everything goes according to plan until an actual person accidentally enters the hotel, bringing a lot of problems to Dracula who must act fast in order not to compromise his sacred place (and of course the well being of Mavis). It's an interesting story with monsters, full of funny moments and excitement. We see how a human can dramatically change a world which monsters considered safe and the life of Dacula's own daughter. It's very good looking, very well animated and it has some outstanding music. It had some awkward moments scattered along the way which seemed a bit out of place but it's overall a very good movie. Enjoy!

Directors: Pierre Coffin, Chris Renaud | Stars: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove

Votes: 426,275 | Gross: $368.06M

9* Gru, an ex-villain but now a proud father gets a job offer he apparently cannot refuse: to work for a secret society in order to track down an undercover bad guy. This assignment will prove to be quite a challenge for him as his new partner Lucy isn't the ordinary kind of girl anyone might expect. I have to say (and I honestly didn't expect this) that this sequel is actually better than the original. The way it introduces its story and the way the minions are used for comedy is really impressing. Gru's change of attitude is even more dramatic while sudden turn-overs keep the suspense up and running. Although it manages to be a little dramatic which combined with some romance give it a special feel, it isn't as profound as other titles in its category. But never mind that, its truly Pièce de résistance is actually its comedy. The way all aspects are put together supplied with a whole bunch of minions create the most pure comedy I've seen in an animation. It was so funny I didn't realize I was still laughing after the scene in question was already over. For this part alone it deserves to be seen, not to mention its other great features. A very good movie!

9* The Croods are a family of cavemen who follow strict rules of survival. As a result, they've spent most of their lives inside a dark cave, only coming out to search for food. But thanks to their daughter Eep, who's curiosity couldn't be contained, they find an interesting boy full of ideas, Guy, who's going to lead them to safety after their cave gets destroyed and the inevitable apocalypse is coming. It's an interesting story but not something extraordinary engulfed with action and thrill. It's very well animated as you'd expect from Dreamworks but its true strong point is that it is very very funny. And I mean hilarious, I don't remember laughing this much in a long long time and I'm a person who's not easily amused. A great animation for anybody to enjoy!

9* Theo is an average garden snail but unlike his buddies who make fun of him all the time, he has big dreams of overcoming his condition and become a racer. As unlikely as it sounds, after an accident where he gets infected with nitrous oxide, he gains some very special powers, car powers that is: lights, radio, reverse beeps, the lot, but above all, SPEED! And what is he going to do with it you might ask...well, race of course, but not just anywhere, no sir, in the Indy 500!!! With the help of his new snail and human crew, he's going to give his best shot to win the most prestigious race of all. It's an intriguing story, although a bit over-exaggerated (even for animation standards), which features the great adventures of Turbo, the racing snail, from his humble but harsh beginnings till the moments he truly becomes famous, thus fulfilling his lifetime dream. I truly love this film's animations and its style, not to mention its great music, but its story isn't going to blow your mind, not even close. It's a very good movie but it is certainly left behind by masterpieces like Cars, Brave and others.

9* Dusty is an ordinary utility plane, every day accomplishing his routine flight, but as expected, he has a big dream up his sleeve, to race in the Wings Around the Globe rally. With the help of Skipper, a retired war veteran, and some enthusiastic friends, he's willing to give his best shot at making a good impression in the competition. Although it's a used-up idea of someone/something (in this case a plane) who's trying to overcome his/its condition, it manages to be a bit distinct from the rest. Inspired by the masterpiece "Cars", this movie features Dusty, a crop duster who's going to learn that it takes a lot more than courage to be a world-class racer. His good soul and his underdog position will prove to be most helpful in the upcoming challenge, although disappointment and betrayal will show up as well. It looks gorgeous (although this is becoming common) and with its reality-show presentation it brings additional thrill into the picture. It has a bit of comedy (although I hoped for more) and some drama (again could have been more) keeping you alert all the time, dead moments net being present (or insignificant). Although at the beginning I had the impression that I'm seeing "Turbo" for the second time, it slowly veered off into something equally delightful. It might not deserve its rating but I liked it!

9* When a normal girl called Mary goes to visit her father who's obsessed with finding very small leafmen who live in the forest she accidentally gets shrunk and transported directly into their world where a war is just about to begin. Together with her new friends, she must fight to protect a pod from the evil bogans or their beloved forest is doomed. It's a pretty interesting idea with and undercover small world (it reminds me of Arietty) with its beauties and conflicts. The characters aren't the most expressive but they play a good part in this fantastic world which looks absolutely gorgeous. The plot is a bit simple and predictable but it's still captivating (most of the time). A bit of thrill and drama mixed with action and a bit too little romance (a minus for me) compose a nice story which unfortunately isn't as epic as its title suggests but it is undoubtedly a very good animation.

A rag doll that awakens in a postapocalyptic future holds the key to humanity's salvation.

Director: Shane Acker | Stars: Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Christopher Plummer

Votes: 147,723 | Gross: $31.74M

9* Set in a post apocalyptic world where machines have turned against humans and won the war, this animation presents a scientist's idea of life in a desolated and dangerous world. He created live dolls which are to continue the human legacy and try to survive while being hunted down by a giant machinery, simply called "The Beast". We watch the adventures of a doll called 9 in its attempts to get rid of the enemy, while uncovering, step by step, fragments of the past which ultimately led to the human extinction. It's sober and emotional, without relying only on combat and spectacular scenes to tell its story. It's slow paced, but not in a bad way. With this approach, it is able to better describe its characters and their actions, while creating an atmospheric environment. As a downside, it tends to become boring from time to time, resulting in a big 9* for the movie "9", released on 9/9/2009. What a coincidence!

9* In a fantastic world where cheese is the most valuable thing, the inhabitants have a big problem. They must hide in their houses at night because of some awkward creatures which roam the streets and steal all sorts of objects. Among them, happens to be a kid which thinks he's one of them, who's about to find some disturbing truths and, of course, do something about the situation. It's a beautiful and original stop-motion animation which features some cute and funny creatures, which, only on their own are a recipe for success, let alone in a full movie like this one. It tells a pretty interesting story which describes the emotional adventures of a boy, struggling to adapt and make people realize the truth that's been standing right in front of them for a very long time. It's interesting and a pleasant watch but unfortunately there is nothing groundbreaking or impressive about it. It's a very good animation, but pretty far from "The Big Ones".

Votes: 263,952 | Gross: $75.29M

9* A lonely girl by the name of Coraline, mostly ignored by her busy parents, finds a door in a wall which, at night, leads her to another world where she can have everything she wants. Furthermore, all people she knows from the real world have duplicates there, with buttons instead of eyes, which behave flawless when it comes to Coraline. As you would expect, what seems perfect is most likely not to be true, and the young girl is about to discover a dark secret which might affect the rest of her life. It's a dark animation which presents a post-apocalyptical world in which a lonely and unhappy girl is tempted into a dream place which seems to fulfill her every wish. It's beautifully animated, well written, with unique characters and a very interesting plot. Unfortunately, it lacks in terms of action and to my disappointment, it features a highly anticipated and predictable finale which sorts everything out almost out of nowhere and at a blink of an eye. It could have been an extraordinary piece of animation, and partly it is, but falls a bit behind the masterpieces due to its unconvincing and rushed finale and also to its lack of action.

9* In a small American town, four boys learn foul language from a Canadian film which is full of obscenities and toilet humor. As a result, their moms send them to rehab, but since the boys see the movie again and again, they decide to arrest and execute the main actors of the movie in question, thus starting a war between the two countries. In the meantime, the boys try to stop them, as a much bigger threat is awaiting the highly publicized execution. It's a movie realized in the world of the famous South Park series, only this time as a film and uncensored. It a wonderful depiction and, of course, exaggeration of people's mistakes and bad habits, which are taken to the extreme and made fun of. Talking about fun, this movie is simply hilarious, almost every action bringing tons of laughter from every possible side. It's very well made, well animated as the entire series, funny, funny and again funny. It's also a musical which most of the time is very well preformed, but they kind of exaggerated with this type of moments, beginning to be a bit dull and boring towards the finale. The plot is also very well written and put into action, but as with the musical parts, it becomes a bit dull towards the end. Overall, it's a very good film which carries the big name of South Park, which is to be recommended without any doubt, but not to everyone!

What the new brother is about to find out is that he's facing with an unusual baby, one which came on a mission and one that must be helped in order to get rid of. It sounds and it actually is fantastic. The two form a pretty good team and their different characters and skills will prove to be highly entertaining and funny. Just to point this aspect out, although it is easily predictable, the film is very well animated and as a bonus point, it has an unique artistic sense when presenting the whole action though the older brother's imagination. The plot is also very well thought, creating a great atmosphere for the "childish" events to take place. It's a very good watch, thanks to its characters, plot and animation, the only thing letting it down being the predictability in important moments.

It's a psychological movie which will show you how can a person become attacked, blackmailed and betrayed by a company who wants to get rid of him no matter what. 9* Nicholas is a very wealthy banker, living his boring and unsurprising life without caring about anyone but himself. As a result, his brother Conrad invites him to join a very mysterious game which promises to change his life. Full of doubt but also intrigued by it, he fills in the forms and all begins with a call from the company which owned it. Soon after that, strange events start to occur making him doubt his sanity and subsequently his own circle of friends. It is a very interesting plot centered on this "game", following closely every peril Nicholas has to face in order to come back to reality, if there even is one anymore. The mystery gets deeper after each event, fact which is a delight and it was almost impossible for me predict what was going to happen, so another plus here. Michael Douglas plays a great role throughout the movie expressing a great variety of emotions without breaking a sweat. Although the finale is a bit flat (but highly unexpected) and it had its inevitable boring moments, I strongly recommend this one as I enjoyed it a lot overall.

As the story progresses, the detective is thrown away from side to side, not knowing who to blame or what to believe. He'll have to face his own problems first in order to get to the bottom of the mystery and that will prove to be a big challenge for him. It's a thrilling movie which throws the viewer into the middle of puzzling killing spree, with an apparently clear murderer which nobody seems capable of convicting. Although it has very good actors and very good story, it evolves slowly and apparently without any direction, maintaining a slow pace for about half of the movie. Its finale is also unexpected and leaves room for controversy but also for a sequel which, in this case, is actually a good thing. It indeed contributes to the mystery but I would have preferred a bit more pace. Despite that, it is a very good movie overall.

149. The 9th Life of Louis Drax (2016)

R | 108 min | Drama, Mystery, Thriller

41 Metascore

A psychologist who begins working with a young boy who has suffered a near-fatal fall finds himself drawn into a mystery that tests the boundaries of fantasy and reality.

Director: Alexandre Aja | Stars: Jamie Dornan, Aiden Longworth, Sarah Gadon, Aaron Paul

Votes: 15,198

9* A young boy, apparently prone to accidents, nearly escaped death eight times across his short life. While on a picnic with his separated parents, he's involved in another accident, in which he falls from a very high cliff, directly into the cold water. He manages to survive but enters a deep coma from which he doesn't seem willing to recover, while his suffering mother must deal with his situation but also with the disappearance of his father, who's accused of attempting to kill him. It's a movie which introduces a deep mystery and throughout its length, it does what it can to lead the viewer to various leads, thus making almost everyone a suspect. It slowly describes the troubled life of young Louis, introducing new information which is intended to increase suspense and make the picture more and more interesting. Its actors do a very good job in creating this dramatic atmosphere which ends with a highly unexpected conclusion. Although breath-taking in essence with most of its scenes, its way of inserting stories into stories and moving from present to the past and the other way around, you simply cannot miss the somehow erratic and unexplainable actions the main characters undergo in many tense situations, which somehow affect the course of events. Also, although unexpected and mind boggling, the finale is not very satisfying, as it could have done a bit more to end this dramatic movie. Overall, it's a very good movie of its kind which manages to unfold a deep and troubling mystery in a very interesting way, but misses the chance of being truly great due to some details which could have been easily avoided.

150. The Bone Collector (1999)

R | 118 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

A quadriplegic ex-homicide detective and his partner try to track down a serial killer who is terrorizing New York City.

Director: Phillip Noyce | Stars: Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifah, Michael Rooker

Votes: 185,062 | Gross: $66.52M

9* A cop with a fully crippled body but a brilliant mind recruits a younger and talented female police officer in order to solve a very complicated case of a serial killer who intentionally leaves clues at his crime scenes. They must put together all the pieces of the puzzle in their attempt to stop the criminal mastermind before he makes his final move. It's a tense and thrilling crime movie featuring elaborate puzzles which can only be solved by a team working in full harmony, which isn't the case from the beginning, solving this issue proving to be the missing link in their investigation. It is enjoyable and somewhat unique regarding its crimes but I was a bit disappointed by its finale, the unveiling of the killer's motive and his apprehending leaved a lot to wish for. It's a very good movie overall with a pair of very good actors and an interesting story.

151. The Body (2012)

Not Rated | 112 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

A detective searches for the body of a femme fatale which has gone missing from a morgue.

Director: Oriol Paulo | Stars: Jose Coronado, Hugo Silva, Belén Rueda, Aura Garrido

Votes: 72,499

9* When the dead body of his wife mysteriously disappears from the morgue, a successful individual is accused of her death. Along the investigation, we're about to find out a much deeper story, one which involves multiple unexpected characters and events which date from 10 years back. It's a film full of thrill and mystery, which keeps you interested and eager to find out more about the main suspect. Although starting very slow and almost boring, it slowly gains pace but not too much, just enough to maintain a suspenseful and dark atmosphere. Above all, the finale is the one which makes this movie shine, with its twists and unexpected events which simply amaze you. The complex characters and good actors also contribute decisively to this unexpectedly good movie. Yes, it tends to exaggerate in some aspects, to present some implausible events, or to have a very slow paced rhythm, but it is a very good movie overall. Another very good mystery which hasn't received enough praise or at least views for its performance.

152. Last Vegas (2013)

PG-13 | 105 min | Comedy

48 Metascore

Billy, Paddy, Archie and Sam have been best friends since childhood. When Billy proposes to his much-younger girlfriend, they go to Vegas to relive their glory days. However, the decades have changed Sin City and tested their friendship.

Director: Jon Turteltaub | Stars: Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Kline

Votes: 136,892 | Gross: $63.91M

9* Four very old friends get together for a very special bachelor party. Along the way, they will have to settle some unsolved differences, consolidate their friendship and, most of all, have fun. It's a very entertaining and funny movie which features four great actors who's characters want to enjoy themselves. They are expressive and amusing, each with his own personality, creating a blend of laughter and good will. Although superficial and pretty predictable, it's a movie which will definitely cheer you up.

153. Horrible Bosses (2011)

R | 98 min | Comedy, Crime

57 Metascore

Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.

Director: Seth Gordon | Stars: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Steve Wiebe

Votes: 469,813 | Gross: $117.54M

9* Nick, Dale and Kurt are three friends who really hate their bosses (with reasons more or less understandable). Their hatred becomes more and more profound so one day, they decide to actually kill them. Advised by a black person (supposedly a hitman), they decide that the best way to do it is by killing each other's bosses. From here on, they start collecting evidence (a.k.a. "intel") for the big hit. Unfortunately (or fortunately) their plans don't end up as wanted. The question is, will they be able to get rid of their problematic bosses or find themselves covered in even more trouble? It's a superb comedy, I must say. It made me laugh so much I couldn't even believe it's true. The actual story isn't as well made as it could be but interlaced with a great core idea and a wonderful comedy presentation, brings a new dimension in laughter. Make sure you don't miss it!

154. Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)

PG-13 | 104 min | Adventure, Comedy, Musical

44 Metascore

A spoof of Robin Hood in general, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) in particular.

Director: Mel Brooks | Stars: Cary Elwes, Richard Lewis, Roger Rees, Amy Yasbeck

Votes: 136,919 | Gross: $35.74M

9* Robin of Loxley returns to England from Africa only to find that king Richard has been replaced by his unworthy brother, prince John, who taxes his people to starvation. Together with his new friends, he must put an end to this tyranny, regain his family properties and win the heart of the beautiful maid Marian. This movie is a parody to Robin Hood and his adventures. It laughs from one end to another of anything related to the prince of thieves. It follows the original story (sort of) doing nothing more than mocking everything from the characters to the decor or even the plot itself. It's the sort of movie which rarely manages to be funny and entertaining without making a fool of itself. I'm glad to say that it's one of the best in what it tries to do. A true comedy which I watched several times and without any doubt I will see it many times from now on. It puts a smile on your face no matter what mood you're in. Simply wonderful!

155. Mirror Mirror (I) (2012)

PG | 106 min | Adventure, Comedy, Drama

46 Metascore

An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright.

Director: Tarsem Singh | Stars: Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane

Votes: 91,096 | Gross: $64.94M

9* Mirror Mirror is, as you might expect, the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs told in a radical way. The evil queen starves her people and punishes Snow White for being more beautiful than her. Until one day when Snow manages to escape, meet a handsome prince and team up with a group of seven dwarfs in her attempt to stop the queen and redeem her throne. All seems pretty classic but it sure isn't. Instead of being an animation, it's a proper movie (a science-fiction one) presented in a rather unique way, let's say...a parody. A classic story presented as a parody is not something very common isn't it? Nevermind, we're talking about a very funny movie, which tries to retell a fairytale in an entertaining way managing to not deviate a lot from the main story, even making it unexpected. Although it may look unpolished and made in a hurry, I must tell you, I really enjoyed it, and the fact that Julia Roberts and Lily Collins play the main roles, I think it means something. I wish you a nice watch! In my opinion it deserves it!

156. The Martian (2015)

PG-13 | 144 min | Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi

80 Metascore

An astronaut becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead, and must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive and can survive until a potential rescue.

Director: Ridley Scott | Stars: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara

Votes: 926,027 | Gross: $228.43M

9* A crew of six astronauts are in the middle of a sample collecting routine on Mars when they are taken by surprise by a massive storm. In their struggle to reach shelter, one of the members gets hit by debris and considered dead. The crew leaves for Earth only to later find out that their colleague is still alive, struggling in a desperate attempt to survive until a rescue mission is sent back to get him. It's a very emotional story of a man, stranded on Mars, which must survive way over his current resources allow, in a desperate hope that someone will hear his cry for help and come to save him. It's very interesting how he manages to overcome many difficulties in order to obtain food and, at the same time, also fix or upgrade his devices, vital for the many days which are to come. It's intriguing, sad, funny and also thrilling, making it addictive to watch most of the time. The main actor does an incredible job in describing the efforts of his character, making the whole plot very credible. As a downside, it is way too long for my taste, especially when the action is very static as it is in this film. You don't get bored but you want to see a bit faster what is the highly expected but predictable finale. It's a very good movie overall, but you have to be a bit patient in order to reach its end.

157. The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

R | 138 min | Action, Sci-Fi

62 Metascore

Freedom fighters Neo, Trinity and Morpheus continue to lead the revolt against the Machine Army, unleashing their arsenal of extraordinary skills and weaponry against the systematic forces of repression and exploitation.

Directors: Lana Wachowski, Lilly Wachowski | Stars: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving

Votes: 630,900 | Gross: $281.49M

9* After the events from the first movie, Neo is confronted with a war of monumental proportions. His "real life" city, Zion, is under attack by a huge number of drills and sentinels, leaving him short time to react. In the meantime, his old nemesis, Agent Smith, freed from the system, begins multiplying at a very fast rate, threatening the chosen one and his crew all over The Matrix. This sequel brings a new conflict to the world of the first film, and along with it, numerous fighting scenes, more and more complex and, of course, awesome in slow motion. Unfortunately, the story isn't as brilliant as the first one's, compensating though through drama and action. It is still a very good movie, which is to be continued in the last reenactment, leaving some suspense along the way.

158. Iron Sky (2012)

R | 93 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

The Nazis set up a secret base on the dark side of the moon in 1945 where they hide out and plan to return to power in 2018.

Director: Timo Vuorensola | Stars: Julia Dietze, Christopher Kirby, Götz Otto, Udo Kier

Votes: 96,561

9* The USA sends a manned space ship to the moon (after 50 years) in order to promote their president in the upcoming elections but what they find is absolutely staggering: a Nazi base. They have settled on the moon 70 years ago planning to attack and conquer earth in the future (I have no idea why). Doomsday has arrived! I don't know how to begin...This movie is a joke, and I really mean it. It's stupid from the beginning to the end, presenting a stupid story a stupid course of events and of course, a stupid finale. I mean, if Nazis could build spaceships and a real base on the moon 50 years ago, why did they bother and instead attack Earth then? It would have been much much easier! But that's not the point. Its plot is so dumb and made in such way that it will literally make you laugh. You can rapidly tell that it wasn't meant to be anything even close to an ordinary movie. It's pure comedy disguised as an action film! The characters play stupid roles but are very well interpreted by the actors thus creating a great atmosphere. And to make it even better, it looks gorgeous! From the scenery to the special effect, simply great! I've been waiting for a very long time for such a movie and thank God it appeared!

159. Priest (2011)

PG-13 | 87 min | Action, Fantasy, Horror

41 Metascore

A warrior priest disobeys church law to track down a pact of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Director: Scott Stewart | Stars: Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban

Votes: 124,167 | Gross: $29.14M

9* After the war between humans and vampires ended, both sides were sealed in hermetic places, where theoretically, there was no escape. Priests were highly-trained vampire killing "machines", in service of the church and sworn protectors of humanity. Lucy, one of the priests' niece has been kidnapped by vampires, so in order to save her, he must break his vow and leave the city, leaving it vulnerable to vampires who were planing something really big for humankind. It has a fantastic world, with a grade of sci-fi which I liked a lot. It reminds me of "Equilibrium", another movie with similar characteristics and plot. The action sequences were absolutely superb alongside a good story which keep you thrilled and excited all the time. It's a great movie but unfortunately, its course of events are a bit too linear and predictable for my taste while the ending is a bit disappointing but I'm glad they left room for a sequel. Make sure you see it!

160. I, Frankenstein (2014)

PG-13 | 92 min | Action, Fantasy, Sci-Fi

30 Metascore

Frankenstein's creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries-old war between two immortal clans.

Director: Stuart Beattie | Stars: Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto, Virginie Le Brun

Votes: 83,933 | Gross: $19.08M

9* In a fantastic world where godly gargoyles fought against the evil demons, each of them disguised as humans and living among them, Frankenstein, the creature, is brought to life by an ingenious scientist. Here, he gets caught in the middle as the demon prince wants to study him in order to create an enormous army. Thus, he must choose which side he's on before humanity gets threatened with extinction. It's a gorgeously animated world, looking impressive from any point of view, in which a large scale war is unraveling. Frankenstein is forced to take action as he becomes the most wanted for the demons, but his soulless nature is going to play a big role in the upcoming future. As I said, it looks astonishing, and although its story isn't, by far, groundbreaking, nor its characters, its action scenes, together with some dramatic ones will definitely create an enjoyable view. I know it's not a flawless movie, but I consider it pretty underrated for what it offers in comparison with what it promised to deliver.

161. Robin Hood (2010)

PG-13 | 140 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

53 Metascore

In twelfth-century England, Robin Longstride and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power.

Director: Ridley Scott | Stars: Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Matthew Macfadyen, Max von Sydow

Votes: 283,245 | Gross: $105.27M

9* After his king dies and he escapes the war camp with three comrades, he witnesses an ambush, exterminates the remaining soldiers and plans to take back the king's crown (which was left in the fight) for a lifetime reward. Not only that his plans don't work accordingly, but he will soon be facing a big threat which puts his own country into peril. This movie realistically covers the adventures of Robin Hood before he began the legend we all know, how he seeks a peaceful life and how he ultimately defends England and is declared an outlaw because of his heroism and bravery. It's emotional with its main character's story, tragic through numerous familiar deaths, atmospheric with the world it creates and even emotional through the lives it describes. Its only problems were that it was somewhat predictable (in part because of its well known main protagonist) and a bit boring due to its unnecessary length. A very good prequel I must say!

162. Wild Wild West (1999)

PG-13 | 106 min | Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi

40 Metascore

The two best special agents in the Wild West must save President Grant from the clutches of a diabolical, wheelchair-bound, steampunk-savvy, Confederate scientist bent on revenge for losing the Civil War.

Director: Barry Sonnenfeld | Stars: Will Smith, Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, Salma Hayek

Votes: 167,329 | Gross: $113.81M

9* A trigger-happy cowboy, Jim West, and a very ingenious marshal, Artemus Gordon, both in service of the president of the U.S.A. are forced to work together in order to save America from the revengeful Dr. Loveless. Their extremely different characters and mentalities will prove to be quite a challenge to overcome but once they're on the same track, almost nothing can stop them from completing their task, maybe except Loveless' latest invetion. It's a very enjoyable movie, filled with quality Science Fiction, breathtaking action and shooting but also hilarious moments. It is quite exaggerated in some aspects but that can also be seen as a plus. It all depends on taste, love it or hate it if you ask me. Enjoy!

Votes: 186,856

9* A lonely 8 year old girl from Australia, having a life of misery, chooses to send a letter to a 44 year old obese american with anxiety problems, eager to be able to socialize with someone. This way, a very long penfriendship is born that will dramatically change the lives of the two. It's a extensive drama, a story that you can hardly imagine but it's nevertheless inspired from reality. It describes how a simple letter, or succession of them can affect so much a person's life. It's a great movie accompanied by lovely music and a great narrator whom's voice will make you feel special. It's sad from the beginning, but the end is the one who carries the most drama. It has some funny moments in contrast with the rest of the plot but unfortunately some boring sequences as well. It will make you think twice about the people you care, about those to whom you've been rude and even about yourself! Watch it to believe me. A superb movie!

9* Jeremy travels to the USA in his attempt of finding the best amercian car, or a good american car as he often says throughout the movie. He compares american cars to european ones in a series of challenges (more or less relevent) in classic Top Gear style, trying to prove that europeans make better cars. As we're used to, he destroys a couple of horrid cars along the way (including a bike) making the show also funny besides being interesting and entertaining. Another must see from Clarkson himself!

9* A lonely father and his young son suffer greatly after his beloved wife dies, thus leaving a huge hole in their lives. Obviously, the one who is the most affected is the little one and as his father doesn’t give any sign of trying to restart his life with another woman, he calls the local radio to ask for advice. His father also gets involved and ends up telling the entire public the story of his life. From there, their lives take an unexpected turn, the mailbox being flooded every day with mails from various women impressed by their story. All pretenders seem the same but the son spots something different and is determined to make his father meet that woman before he gets deeper in his new relation. It’s a sad story but with well inserted comedy elements which manages to impress you with every single thing it does, with its great story, actors and subtle comedy but it quickly gets predictable while the ending doesn’t do the love story much justice. It leaves you a bit disappointed, finishing so abruptly and not providing many details regarding what will happen next. Overall it’s a great watch, especially with the loved ones, which had everything to be brilliant but its finale didn’t receive as much attention as the rest of the movie.

What seemed to be a passing wish transforms into passion as he gets closer to the source of all his unexpected behavior, reaching the point where he even participates in a dance competition. It's a romantic film about a man who seeks happiness outside the ordinary while making his family very suspicious. Dancing, music, romance and beautiful Jenifer Lopez, what more can you want? A bit more soul could have made it even better but it's still a very enjoyable film. I certainly did enjoy it!

Lured by the massive amount of money he's going to receive, he sets off right away only to soon find out that he will be putting his own life into peril. It's a very mysterious plot which keeps you wondering right from the beginning as the search is proving to have much more implications that one could have ever imagined. It is very complex and thus hard to anticipate what will happen next managing to attract your attention most of the time. The main actor plays a very exciting role and plays it well while most of the other actors keep up with his performance. I witnessed some superficial scenes and some character's decisions which are quite hard to explain but nothing that can affect the overall experience. This story of the nine gates of hell deserves its nine stars rating, the only thing which kept me from giving it maximum score was its finale which wasn't as conclusive as I hoped. A very good movie from its genre.

9* Soon after being accused of murdering the love of his life, Ig grows a "lovely" pair of devilish horns, which grant him an interesting ability. He's able to make every person tell his most hidden and cruel desires and thoughts, while being able to persuade them into doing something they wouldn't have thought before (or have courage to do). By using his "gift", he sets out to uncover the identity of the true killer and punish him for his terrible deed. It's a dark and thrilling story, which brings an interesting feat into the movie's equation, the horns. They transform a normal investigation into something more deep and troubling, fact which is featured in great and explicit details. It's complex and unpredictable, making you lust for its conclusive finale, which thankfully, explains everything and does some much needed justice. It had a bit of monotony and some boring moments but overall it managed to create a bleak atmosphere in which its story can freely unravel. A very good movie.

He starts encountering some strange events, nobody is willing to help, so he suddenly realizes that he's living a dream and that a hidden truth from the past is there to be found. It's a very twisted story of a man haunted by his past who struggles to preserve his mental sanity while trying to figure out what happened so wrong that changed his life dramatically. It is interesting and catchy with all its mind challenging events and its sudden changes of perspective keeping you focused all the way to the end. There is one aspect that kept me from giving it maximum rating and that is the cause of the fatal event which simply put, was awkward. It's a bit difficult to fully enjoy a film that's so serious knowing that it all began from a stupid misunderstanding. Otherwise, it's a pretty great drama.

176. Green Lantern (2011)

PG-13 | 114 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

39 Metascore

Reckless test pilot Hal Jordan is granted an alien ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers that inducts him into an intergalactic police force, the Green Lantern Corps.

Director: Martin Campbell | Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong

Votes: 296,193 | Gross: $116.60M

9* Hal is chosen by an alien ring to become the first human Green Lantern, a member of an universal alliance of protectors. Being an irresponsible test pilot, he must overcome his weaknesses and learn to control his new powers because a deadly force is threatening the universe once again. As an overall, it's a good movie. It has a fair plot accompanied by a great soundtrack and a good actor (Ryan Reynolds). It isn't the most convincing story, I admit, but it's good enough. After all, it is a superhero movie. You're watching it for its action and for its characters most of all (although a great story could make it very good). Unfortunately, I was utterly disappointed by the ending. It's so childish, so simple that only a ten year old could have thought of it. It doesn't deserve the rating i gave it but it had such great action and looked so "awesome" that I couldn't resist. It's a shame though, it could have been an superb movie if it had a better plot and a final battle which wasn't completely stupid.

177. I Am Number Four (2011)

PG-13 | 111 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

36 Metascore

Aliens and their Guardians are hiding on Earth from intergalactic bounty hunters. They can only be killed in numerical order, and Number Four is next on the list. This is his story.

Director: D.J. Caruso | Stars: Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Dianna Agron, Teresa Palmer

Votes: 246,395 | Gross: $55.10M

9* A visitor from planet Lorien (Number Four), one of the last survivors of his race, is being chased by some alien criminals on Earth. Together with his protector, some human friends and later Number Six, he must eliminate this threat or our planet will be doomed. It's a great movie, incredibly exciting and thrilling. Unfortunately it had some disappointing sequences (especially the final one) that restrained it from getting 10*. A great movie!

178. Under Suspicion (2000)

R | 110 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

43 Metascore

A wealthy attorney in San Juan comes to the police station for "10 minutes" of follow-up questions to finding a 12-year-old girl's body in a park. Another young girl was also raped and murdered weeks earlier and the evidence points to him.

Director: Stephen Hopkins | Stars: Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Thomas Jane, Monica Bellucci

Votes: 27,633 | Gross: $0.26M

9* While attending at a fund raising ceremony, Henry is asked to pay a very short visit to the local police station for a couple of questions but the situation escalates quickly, Henry being accused of raping and murdering two small girls. He's forced to stop lying once he figures out that the police mean serious business but whether he is the actual culprit or whether he is hiding something else is left to be discovered and revealed by the detectives. His social life is being jeopardized but also his relation with his gorgeous wife who doesn't know what to think about her husband. It's a psychological thriller, full of confusion, mystery and unexpected disclosures. It manages to draw all your attention, making you eager to discover its unpredictable finale. As a minus, it is a bit too boring in some scenes, slightly reducing its rating but overall it's a great watch.

179. Chloe (2009)

R | 96 min | Drama, Mystery, Thriller

49 Metascore

Suspecting her husband of infidelity, gynecologist Dr. Catherine Stewart hires an escort named Chloe in order to test his faithfulness. Soon, the relationships between all three intensify.

Director: Atom Egoyan | Stars: Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Max Thieriot

Votes: 77,889 | Gross: $3.07M

9* When her husband misses his surprise birthday party, his wife Catherine starts suspecting him cheating with a student. Thus, she hires Chloe to try and seduce him, in order to prove her theory. As Chloe describes their adventures in great detail, Catherine becomes more and more jealous, but things are about to take a very unexpected turn, one which surprises her as well, tending to put their family into jeopardy. This movie graphically describes how a very wealthy and suspicious wife decides to act when she suspects infidelity from her husband. The implications are far deeper than any imagination, thus bringing a whole new intrigue to the story. It's an unexpected turnover which the plot takes, taking everyone by surprise and contributing to the suspenseful atmosphere. It's dramatic and emotional, bringing new aspects as the story unravels, managing to maintain the mystery until the end. I enjoyed the main characters performances, their acts and reactions contributing a lot to the unfortunate situation. The only downsides I can see are the fact that it was a bit predictable in the beginning, a bit boring at times and some characters were somehow annoying, not fully understanding their role in the plot. Otherwise, a very good movie.

180. Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

R | 119 min | Action, Thriller

41 Metascore

Secret Service agent Mike Banning finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack and works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.

Director: Antoine Fuqua | Stars: Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett

Votes: 292,464 | Gross: $98.93M

9* Mike Banning, a former presidential guard must undergo a special operation of saving the White House from the clutches of a Korean terrorist organisation which managed to take control of it a lot quicker than american security could do anything. As a commando, Mike rescues the president's son and one kill after another, he must force his way into the underground bunker in which the president himself is being kept hostage. It's a very good movie which features plenty of gun related action and killing, with some suspense and a bit of drama. If you can stand the violence presented in it, you will certainly enjoy this one, especially with Gerard Butler as protagonist and Morgan Freeman as president replacement. Although I really liked this one, it disappointed me with its finale, in which Mike doesn't receive anything for his courage, heroism and for saving the whole situation all by himself. No congratulations, no medals, no honoring, no nothing. That's not how you end this type of movie. A big shame...

181. War of the Worlds (2005)

PG-13 | 116 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

73 Metascore

An alien invasion threatens the future of humanity. The catastrophic nightmare is depicted through the eyes of one American family fighting for survival.

Director: Steven Spielberg | Stars: Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Tim Robbins, Miranda Otto

Votes: 475,441 | Gross: $234.28M

9* Ray gets visited by his two children, who lived with their divorced mother, and, surprising for everyone, strange events start to occur. Dark clouds with serious lightnings which strike in the same place and later, earthquakes and gigantic tripods rising from the ground. An alien invasion is ongoing so he must try to protect his children at all costs. It's a very dramatic film revolving around a planned alien invasion while the human army proves useless and everybody must fight for survival, or better said, run for survival. Contrary to what I was expecting from a Tom Cruise movie, it focuses on the dramatic survival part rather than fighting for the cause, as I was used to, Ray being on the run most of the time. It isn't a bad thing but it would have been a lot more entertaining. Against all odds, a happy ending is about to happen but unfortunately for me, it isn't compelling at all. Taking the consideration the lack of action, I was expecting a more spectacular finale but, as it turned out, it was the film's disappointment. It's a good movie of its kind, especially if you enjoy this type of survival/drama.

182. The Wizard of Oz (1939)

PG | 102 min | Adventure, Family, Fantasy

Directors: Victor Fleming, King Vidor | Stars: Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr

Votes: 428,814 | Gross: $2.08M

9* A girl dreams about a fairyland where she must find her way home together with her dog Toto and three new friends found along the way. A great musical I've seen a lot of times when I was a little kid. It's mainly for children but that doesn't make it a bad movie for adults as well. An interesting story that you'll really enjoy as a youngster. A good movie!

9* A truly emotional story about mountain climber who travels to an isolated canyon where his hand gets trapped by a boulder with no way of freeing himself. Without anyone knowing his location and with limited food and water, he must find a solution quick before becoming food for the crows. Whilst trapped, he has a couple of visions which reflect his life making him resort to desperate solutions. It's a mindblowing experience which will test human's limits to their's absolute maximum. One thing's for sure...It's not for the faint-hearted!

Director: Chuck Russell | Stars: Jim Carrey, Cameron Diaz, Peter Riegert, Peter Greene

Votes: 421,062 | Gross: $119.94M

9* An average bank clerk finds a sacred mask that gives him superhero powers. In order to get the girl of his dreams by saving her and the city from a small mob boss Dorian, he must learn to use its powers wisely otherwise he'll get into a lot of trouble. It's an incredibly funny movie performed by great actors which will give you a lot of fun. The story has been a little neglected but besides that, I have nothing against it. Great movie!

185. Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse (2012 Video)

TV-G | 57 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

Robin Hood, a merry man who steals from the rich to give to the poor, has a new capable sidekick, Jerry. The evil king deduces, in his own words "brilliantly", that the best way to deal with this new threat is a cat, so he hires Tom.

Directors: Spike Brandt, Tony Cervone | Stars: Jamie Bamber, Charles Shaughnessy, John Michael Higgins, Grey Griffin

Votes: 1,324

9* The classic, timeless story of Robin Hood being retold by adding famous animation characters like Tom, Jerry, Droopy, Spike and others. Jerry plays the role of Robin Hood's tiny assistant while Tom helps the Sheriff of Nottingham to eliminate the spy. I'm not going to tell the rest of the story because it's very well known but I'm going to tell you that it's a great movie. Very funny, well written, entertaining through its music and decor, containing a bit of drama and tension just to spice things up a bit and an all-loved happy ending (plus an unexpected turn of events). It reminds me of the old Tom & Jerry episodes in some ways, proving that even in our days some all-time great cartoons can be brought to life. I really enjoyed it and so will you, especially if you're a cartoon/animation fan like myself!

186. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

G | 85 min | Comedy, Drama, Family

The Muppets present their own touching rendition of Charles Dickens' classic tale.

Director: Brian Henson | Stars: Michael Caine, Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Jerry Nelson

Votes: 70,659 | Gross: $27.28M

9* Ebenezer Scrooge, an awful, greedy and unpleasant man is told by his two ex-associates that he will be visited by three spirits who will teach him what he has caused, how he's seen by others and what can happen if he doesn't change his attitude. This encounters will change Ebenezer's life forever, together of course with his bad thoughts about Christmas. A classic Charles Dickens story told by and with the Muppets. It's a different approach to it, a bit more funny, a bit more entertaining, a bit more happy! I really enjoyed how it was presented and especially it's musical moments. My only complaint though is that it should have been treated a bit more seriously considering the fact that in it's essence, it tries to send a message about people, about their life, about Christmas! A great movie nevertheless!

187. Prep & Landing (2009 TV Short)

TV-G | 22 min | Animation, Short, Adventure

Wayne gets a new rookie partner, Lanny, after his previous partner got the promotion he wanted. Lanny has to remind Wayne of the Spirit of Christmas and the importance of being an elf in Santa's Prep and Landing elite unit.

Directors: Kevin Deters, Stevie Wermers | Stars: David Foley, Sarah Chalke, Mason Cotton, David DeLuise

Votes: 4,005

9* Wayne has the difficult job of preparing Santa's landing spot and all house requirements for Santa's arrival. But because he doesn't get his long expected promotion, he begins to behave badly, unaware of the consequences his act will bring. Together with his new partner, he must try to not destroy and innocent child's Christmas (which, of course, he provoked). It's a Christmas tale seen from a different perspective, where gift delivery is a complex system accomplished using spies and high-tech equipment. Nevertheless, it sends a message which everybody must acknowledge: what is the true meaning of Christmas!

188. Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (2011 TV Movie)

189. The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol (2011)

Director: Troy Quane | Stars: Fred Armisen, Hank Azaria, Gary Basaraba, George Lopez

Votes: 1,641

9* Grouchy hates a lot of things, unfortunately, one of them is Christmas itself. To teach him a couple of things about this wonderful event, he is to be visited by three smurf spirits (of past, present and future) which will take him on a trip he will never forget. It's emotional but also funny. A remake of the original Christmas Carol made with smurfs. Make sure you watch it! P.S. I'm glad they decided to use the cartoony smurfs as the animated ones look in comparison a lot worse.

190. Kung Fu Panda Holiday (2010 TV Short)

Po is to host the annual winter holiday feast and he struggles to meet his friends' expectations.

Votes: 6,819

9* The annual winter holiday feast is coming fast so Po, as the dragon warrior, must host it perfectly. Although he struggles a lot and does some typical mistakes (for him), everything goes according to plan, but something doesn't feel right. He omitted his dad, his family, and winter holidays are nothing without family. Will he be able to please both parts and deliver a happy ending? What is there to say about this short movie, Kung Fu Panda at Christmas is all you want to see this time of the year, no doubt about that!

9* In a world where everything is made out of logos, the McDonald's clown steals a truck full of weapons and is being followed by Michelin officers. But just afters he takes hostages and injures civilians, a major earthquake strikes their city bringing chaos and destruction. It's not much of a story but the way they made that world full of logos is as impressive as it is funny. I really liked their idea and the way it was presented through its action sequences but the plot itself was disappointing. Still, it's pretty good for a quarter hour full of logos!

9* A young man struggles in a very harsh neighbourhood with poverty, gangsters, drugs, alcohol and women. Against all odds, he must stand out from the crowd an make a name for himself by rapping before all falls apart. It's an emotional story, surrounded by quality music and lyrics. It shows you the life of an average person that gets one shot to redeem himself. It's up to him! Great movie!

9* After sending the wrong tape to his girlfriend which would ruin their relationship, Josh goes on a road trip full of adventures with three friends in order to get it back before it's too late. It's a superb comedy which covers a not-so-great story making you laugh like you never did before. Honestly, I haven't laughed as much in months! I can't explain it, you have to see it with your own eyes. Great movie!

195. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

PG-13 | 97 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

A high-school boy, Cameron, cannot date Bianca until her anti-social older sister, Kat, has a boyfriend. So, Cameron pays a mysterious boy, Patrick, to charm Kat.

Director: Gil Junger | Stars: Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik

Votes: 385,616 | Gross: $38.18M

9* Kat and Bianca are two very different sisters. Although both good looking, they are unable to get on a date, partly because of their very strict father, and partly because of Kat's attitude in relation to other people. Thus, when a playboy sets his mind on Bianca, he is inspired to pay someone to take her sister on a date, in order to take Bianca to the prom. Although simplistic as a main idea, this movie proves that you can make a really good movie without having a huge budget, or some bombastic ideas. One leads to another and so, two separate love stories emerge, proving what the partners are willing to do to get the one he or she loves, without thinking about consequences. It's an enjoyable movie, romantic and sometimes emotional, even funny at times, which puts a smile on your face if you want it to. It isn't groundbreaking or anything, especially considering it's, above all, a teen movie, but it's a very good watch. Enjoy!

196. Alfie (2004)

R | 103 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

49 Metascore

A cockney womanizer learns the hard way about the dangers of his actions.

Director: Charles Shyer | Stars: Jude Law, Sienna Miller, Susan Sarandon, Renée Taylor

Votes: 54,984 | Gross: $13.40M

9* Alfie is a playboy, a lonely soul, enjoying life. Thanks to his good appearance, he meets women, has fun with them and then very fast, dumps them. He has nothing to worry about, not even about his home in which he hardly sleeps. All seems to be going well but he's about to find out that a person's life isn't really that easy. Along the way, he makes a lot of mistakes which at the moment aren't acknowledged, but as time goes by, they collapse on him, one by one, making him change his mentality. The question is, will Alfie be able to do something before it's too late? I really liked the whole idea of this movie and especially how it's presented by the main character himself throughout the whole movie. Seeing how a person's life can take such a dramatic turn is quite staggering to be honest, but nevertheless, it's reality. I also liked the way the movie kept me focused all the time, without any "dead" or boring moments but unfortunately I was expecting more from the final. Maybe it's just me that wanted some sort of happy ending which frankly wasn't there but overall, it's a great movie.

197. P.S. I Love You (2007)

Director: Richard LaGravenese | Stars: Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Harry Connick Jr., Lisa Kudrow

Votes: 218,441 | Gross: $53.70M

9* Holly and Gerry form a lovely couple. No matter the problems they face, they still manage to get along with a big smile on their faces. Sadly, Gerry dies from a brain tumor, but, thinking in advance, he writes her a couple of letters that are to be sent after his death, this way, helping her cope with the new life without him, while guiding her, step by step. It's a romantic story which tragically ends much to early, leaving a great scar on her sensitive soul. The fact that he planned the whole letter thing will prove to be a much needed light of hope, helping a lot in the near future. It's intensely dramatic but it manages to get things right as it presents how life was before and how it and how it slowly recovers after the tragic death. It also provides a warming and satisfactory finale which heals most of the harm nature had provided. It's a must see for romance fans!

198. You've Got Mail (1998)

PG | 119 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

Book superstore magnate Joe Fox and independent book shop owner Kathleen Kelly fall in love in the anonymity of the Internet, both blissfully unaware that he's trying to put her out of business.

Director: Nora Ephron | Stars: Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Greg Kinnear, Parker Posey

Votes: 229,767 | Gross: $115.82M

9* A woman's book store for children is threatened by a big book supermarket which offers greater variety and discounts so she asks for help from her online friend, whom she speaks via mail. She gains trust and begins fighting for her beloved shop but it's going to be a big struggle which seems to have no hope. To add more pain in the equation, her virtual friend is going to provide a couple of unexpected surprises which she will have to face as life becomes harder and harder. It's a romantic comedy which features a warm but also sad atmosphere in which the main characters face their struggles. It has emotion, drama and happiness but the very predictable and simple finale spoils the overall experience. Still, it's a very good and enjoyable movie to watch with your family.

199. Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown (2011 Video)

R | 99 min | Action, Drama, Sport

Four fighters with different backgrounds come together to train under an ex-MMA rising star and then ultimately have to fight each other.

Director: Michael Jai White | Stars: Michael Jai White, Dean Geyer, Alex Meraz, Todd Duffee

Votes: 20,746

9* Four fighters, each having different social lifes and attitudes, aim to enter and win the Beatdown competition, so they turn to a former champion for guidance. A strong bond formes between three of them and the coach but the third decides to betray them and use all kinds of dirty tricks in his attempt to eliminate them one by one. In the end, they must face each other on the cage in order to prove who's best, taking vengeance at the same time on their ex-colleague, now turned into a threat for everybody. As in the first movie, backing down is never an option. Working hard, practicing both phisically and mentally and controlling your emotions and feelings is the key to victory. An angry mind is a narrow mind as they often say. It's a more original plot, more composed than the one in the first movie, with several intrigues and a lot of action, ideal for keeping you entertained and curious about the fighters' evolution. This time, we're talking about a good movie and a great one for fighting enthusiasts (not that I'm one of them)!

A crash landing leaves Kitai Raige and his father Cypher stranded on Earth, a millennium after events forced humanity's escape. With Cypher injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help.

Director: M. Night Shyamalan | Stars: Jaden Smith, David Denman, Will Smith, Sophie Okonedo

Votes: 208,970 | Gross: $60.52M

9* After crash landing on Earth, a planet which was deserted a very long time ago, Cypher Raige assigns his son the mission of his life. He must travel a long distance to where the other part of their ship crashed in order to activate a S.O.S. beacon which has the potential of saving their lives. Because his dad has badly injured, Kitai must travel alone through very dangerous landscapes, filled with life threatening animals under strict supervision of Cypher. It's a thrilling story which presents the evolution of young Kitai who must overcome his condition several times to accomplish his mission. Will Smith plays a great role as a very experienced but also severe ranger which guides his son on the battlefield. Jaden on the other had still has a lot to learn, especially when presenting his emotions (thus adding suspense to the movie), part in which he often fails. I enjoyed this movie and its visual effects despite its large pack of haters whom I don't quite understand and although Jaden's performance can be improved and the fact that it had a very predictable finale, it is a very good movie.
